<keyword id="14666" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="BJP">BJP</keyword> was leading in 214 constituencies in the initial trends available from across the country with its prime ministerial candidate <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> leading in both Vadodara and Varanasi constituencies as the counting votes went underway today. Other NDA partners – TDP, <keyword id="6358821" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shiv-Sena">Shiv Sena</keyword> and Akali Dal – were leading in 11, six and four seats, respectively. 
 
Congress was leading in 70 seats with its partners, NCP and RJD, leading in three and seven seats, respectively. Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, fighting its first <keyword id="6355187" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Lok-Sabha">Lok Sabha</keyword> election, was leading in five seats. But <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> himself was trailing from the Varanasi constituency. 
 
The early trends show that the Modi wave was sweeping the nation and the Congress seems to be swept away in the wave. 
 
Some prominent leaders in the lead were LK Advani (Gandhinagar), Sonia Gandhi (Rae Bareli), Uma Bharti (Jhansi), Sachin Pilot (Ajmer), Jaswant Singh (Barmer), Rabri Devi (Saran), Rahul Gandi (Amethi), Murli Manohar Joshi (Kanpur), Dimple Yadav (Kannauj), Mulayam Singh Yadav (Azamgarh), Yogi Adityanath (Gorakhpur), Maneka Gandhi (Pilibhit) and Rajnath Singh (Lucknow). 
 
All the BJP-ruled states - Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh - were headed to go the BJP way. 
Exit polls had predicted a massive victory for the NDA.

BJP Takes Massive Lead In Initial Trends

<ul><li>In a series of tweets, <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> reached out to rivals from opposition parties across the country asking them to come together for the Indian democracy. </li><li>Modi even reached out to Bollywood stars and businessmen asking them to use their influence to encourage people to vote. </li><li>India, the world’s largest democracy, is barely a month away from General Elections. </li></ul>As the Indian general elections draw closer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to call out Indian celebrities from different fields, and even the leaders of opposition parties. Tagging them over a succession of over 25 tweets, PM Modi requested them to come together to “strengthen the democracy” and asked them to encourage people to vote. In a first, Modi reached out to Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Naveen Patnaik, KCR, Chandrababu Naidu among others asking them “to work towards bringing maximum Indians to the polling booths in the upcoming elections.” And he didn’t stop there. Narendra Modi, who campaigned to power as the business friendly leader – even though new private investments in India have gone down to a <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Politics/djaa4hxQTklGR3lOws8hzJ/New-investments-in-India-plunge-to-14yearlow.html">14-year</a> low – reached out to the likes of Anand Mahindra, Ratan Tata and Ashish Chauhan. Modi reached out to celebrities from different fields – from Bollywood celebrities like Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone to sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar, Saina Nehwal, Srikanth Kidambi, and PV Sindhu. In an official blog titled '<a href="https://www.narendramodi.in/four-requests-for-a-democracy-543992" data-type="tilCustomLink">Four Requests For Democracy</a>' on the Prime Minister's website, Modi has asked Indian citizens to register themselves as voters if they haven't done so already and 'create an environment where getting one’s voter card and casting a vote, especially for the first time, become occasions for celebration'. The incumbent prime minister may hope that some voters may mistake the celebrity endorsement for the voting process as support for Modi himself. But, will they?
