Last Saturday afternoon was high on mercury. As we drove through the <keyword id="3486329" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="delhi-faridabad">Delhi Faridabad</keyword> toll road, there was hardly any other car in sight, except for a few trucks pushing each other in a mindless rash race. While the GPS guided us forward, we could see the magnificent building of the recently opened <keyword id="4534345" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Radisson-Blu-Faridabad">Radisson Blu Faridabad</keyword> from a distance. It’s a true Blu for that matter from the architectural point of view. As we reached the entrance, the other features of true Radisson started getting prominent. The check in was smooth. Why go far away to Manesar when you have all amenities right in the city limit! <br /><br /> Not just staycations, this hotel will cater to the people from outside who want to experience Delhi’s old charm on metro for the metro station is bang opposite to the entrance. And guess what, this line takes you straight to the retro localities of Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Purani Dilli. <br /><br />

<br /> The interior looks towering and pretty. With water fountains on black marble, the concierge looks plush. We didn’t know much surprises were awaiting us at the fourth floor, our residence for the weekend. As we got out from the elevator with a front desk staff as our guide, the warm colours of the carpet enthralled us. With a hint of golden tinge on the floor, lot of woods on the side and blue stencil work on the walls and ceiling of the corridor looks magnificent. Warm colour theme, great hospitality and the flavourful food- these are the signatures of all Radisson Blu hotels across the globe and the Faridabad property isn’t spared. <br /><br />

<br /><br /> The room, we checked in, was a superior category one, overlooking the metro station. There is a brightly coloured bay window, which is of full glass. Getting awed by trains is my favourite hobby and I was on cloud nine, until I discovered that the other side of the hotel overlooks the Faridabad train line. The room looks plush and business-like. With a king sized bed, large screen LED TV, a big canvas painting, complimentary Wi-Fi, 33 square meter room is cozy and appropriate for a peaceful stay. The basic amenities of luxury- high speed internet, cosy bed, grand shower and high quality toiletries are all there besides some extras. <br />

<br /><br /> Let’s come to another important point – food. That’s something, we, who love good hospitality, swear by. The food at House of Soy, the oriental place is exquisite. With so much vegetarian spread, this place is a must try for everyone. There’s another restaurant at the concierge level – The Broadway. Faridabad people have long been deprived of better fine dining experiences when their neighbouring parts have zoomed past. But now no more! You can go for Ala Carte or Buffet. On most weekends, the dinner time is buzzing with people. There is a bright yellow retro scooter with sidecar that has now become a photo booth for most diners. From continental to Asian and Indian, the spread is alluring. Then there is a wide variety of desserts that’s strictly a no-miss. <br />

Today in Delhi, you will find at least three ‘100% Pure Vegetarian’ restaurants at every corner. Delhi’s vegetarians don’t have much problem to find decent thali, which would be a popular Indian meal consisting of lentils, vegetable dishes and paneer. However if vegetarians want to experiment with cuisines, they don’t find much options. Most Desi Chinese places have limited options of soyabean and cottage cheese. Located at a distance from the hustle and bustle of Delhi city, this restaurant at NCR region is serving wide variety of vegetarian options. Curated by chef Avanish Jain, House of Soy could aptly be named the house of joy. Walking into the restaurant you feel a thrilling vibe of entering a monastery – where good food occupies the altar.  As we comforted ourselves with refreshing summer coolers (Rs 299) – Very Berry KalaKhatta and Watermelon juice, the train of vegetarian delights began with Vegetable Popiah (Rs 599). A neatly rolled tofu and bell peppers served with homemade smokey dip tasted delicious. The crispiness of the spring roll deserves special applaud. The next in the menu was Crystal Vegetable Dumplings (Rs 599). Thanks to the delicate potato starch dough, the dumplings don’t look opaque. Served with a variety of dips, you can actually derive taste of individual ingredients. <br /><br /> The signature Tom Yum soup (Rs 399) was quite flavourful with hint of lemon and kafir lime. However a pinch of coriander could have diluted the strong flavour. So as I started with the soup, the strong flavour hit the back of the tongue. <br />

The accompaniments were Kaeng Khiao Wan Phak (Rs 649) and <keyword id="4537026" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="mapo-tofu">Mapo Tofu</keyword> (Rs 649). If you are at House of Soy, it would be an offense not to try the green curry flavoured Kaeng Khiao Wan Phak. As you relish the Wan Phak with sticky jasmine rice, you would feel tempted to try Mapo Tofu, thanks to fragrance of the bean sauce. Silken tofu cooked in spicy chilli and bean sauce would make you go for innumerable servings before you finally give up realizing the heaviness.  The dessert on our plate was Date Pancake (Rs 449). The deep fried dates wrapped in wanton skin served with Vanilla ice cream are again a dish not to be missed.<br /><br /> Overall the experience was quite satisfying. We did try a wide spread of non vegetarian too, ranging from Sushi, Chicken Dry red Chilli Chongqing style, <keyword id="4537028" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="schezwan-chicken-dimsum">Schezwan Chicken Dimsum</keyword> in the starters to Basa cooked in pepper sauce and Kung Pao Chicken. While House of Soy excelled in vegetarian spread, the meaty affair was equally relishing. <br /><br />
