<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rachel+Moran">Rachel Moran</a> grew up in north Dublin. A troubled family and a year in state care later, she became homeless at fifteen and was forced into <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prostitution">prostitution</a>. She worked in Dublin and other Irish cites for the nest seven years. Later, she liberated herself and studied journalism at Dublin state University. Today she is an international speaker on <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sex-trafficking">sex-trafficking</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prostitution">prostitution</a>. Business Insider caught up with Rachel on the sidelines of the Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet, and got chatting about <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Sexuality">Sexuality</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prostitution">Prostitution</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=India%E2%80%99s+Porn+Ban">India’s Porn Ban</a>. 
 
Yours is an intriguing and inspiring story. How did you survive the tough times? 
I survived because I never lied to myself. I knew what I was living was horrible and humiliating. That’s the main reason why I came out of the experience psychologically and emotionally healthy. 
 
What I see now in the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=sex+workers">sex workers</a> rights movement didn’t quite exist back in the 90s. It’s this deceptive veneer plastered over <keyword id="56655" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="prostitution">prostitution</keyword> where <keyword id="29537" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="sex-workers">sex workers</keyword> lie to themselves and others. 
 
Some believe lying to oneself keeps you sane, at least for a while. 
That mechanism is used to lying to others. Lying to yourself is a harmful business. 
 
Your biggest takeaway from the experience. 
I’ve learned that it’s absolutely important for people to treat each other with the fullness of their humanity. 
 
Some of the biggest myths about prostitution. 
Some of the most popular myths that are out there are that these are a couple of lonely men accessing sex as they can’t get it anywhere else. 
 
That is quite frankly, bullshit. About three-quarters of men who use women in prostitution are married. They are fathers and have wives at home. 
 
Also, for lonely men looking for intimacy, they’re looking for something in a place they’re least likely to find it. You can’t possibly find sexual intimacy in a brothel. 
 
India is in the throes of a sexual revolution today. Some say legalizing prostitution might help. What’s your take? 
That’s the worst one can do. The countries that have legalized prostitution (several states in Australia, New Zealand, Nevada in the US) have all made the same mistake and faced similar consequences. 
 
Today there are 450000 prostitutes In Germany and 500 brothels in Berlin alone. Brothels are as high as 12 stories with absolute inhumanity practiced on every floor. Men are able to use the bodies of impoverished marginalized women to satisfy every perversion, fantasy or whim they can imagine. All of this is legal, and the government collects taxes from this, which of course makes them a pimp. 
 
The alternate view says legalization would help regulate the trade, and bring these women to the mainstream. 
The government can control nothing over legalization. A little known fact about legalized systems is that illegal systems outstrip the legal brothels. These are not regulated. 
 
There are women who’d say what they’re doing with their personal life is nobody’s business. What do you to say to that? 
My response to women who speak that way is, “it’s not all about you”. 
 
What’s you take on online <keyword id="6378652" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Pornography">pornography</keyword>? 
<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=prostitution">Prostitution</a> and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pornography">pornography</a> are just the same thing. It’s the degradation of women on a large scale. The only difference is that there is a camera involved in one and not in the other. 
 
The same men who say porn is just fine, if they happen to be on the internet one day and saw their daughters and mothers on a porn site, the indignity and humiliation would become immediately apparent to them. 
 
The problem here is that modern day <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pornography">pornography</a> is not erotica. It is not always mutual shared consensual sex. 
 
Prostitution is the world’s oldest profession. How can you get rid of that? 
Why are we trying to control the conditions of inhumanity? 
 
Prostitution has been around for thousands of years. So has rape or murder. We legislate against these. 
 
What can Men do now? 
They Men need to understand the pain and damage to them that’s happening at a soul level. They need to become aware about how toxic masculinity has become. 
 
If a Man is not dominant, he is not even seen as a man. If I had to been aggressive and antagonistic before my femininity is even acknowledged, what that would mean for me is that I would have to be practicing inhumanity to be considered a female. 
 
Your advice to people stuck in the trade. 
I understand exactly how they’re feeling, and how they’re positioned. 
 
There is always a way out. Whether you believe it or not, there is always the possibility of a future beyond prostitution. 
 
I didn’t believe that. I desperately wanted a way out, but couldn’t see any for years. 
 
“Believe me, there is a future beyond this”, that would be my message.

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Anti-vaxxers are using emojis to avoid detection by social-media algorithms, a BBC investigation found. </li><li>One large Facebook group used the carrot emoji to replace the word vaccine, per the BBC. </li></ul>Groups sharing baseless claims that people are being hurt or killed by vaccines are avoiding social-media bans on anti-vaxx content by using the carrot emoji, <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-62877597">a BBC investigation found</a>. Per the BBC, several social media groups were using the emoji as a code for the word "vaccine." The simple ruse allowed them to continue unhindered posting content that the networks had pledged to stamp out. One Facebook group using the code, which the BBC did not name, had over 250,000 members.The rules of the group stated: "Use code words for everything" and "Do not use the c word, v word or b word ever" meaning "COVID," "vaccine," or "booster," per the BBC. The trend was also noticed by Marc Owen Jones, an Assistant Professor of Middle East Studies at Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar, who studies disinformation. The BBC said Jones was invited to the large Facebook group.<a href="https://twitter.com/marcowenjones/status/1568859452614541312?s=20&amp;t=3Gh6JAgv82yiTBstnd2Tyg">He said in a Twitter thread on Sunday</a> the carrot emoji symbol was used to replace the word vaccine "presumably to evade censorship. Very odd." According to a screen grab <a href="https://twitter.com/marcowenjones/status/1568867632593489921?s=20&amp;t=3Gh6JAgv82yiTBstnd2Tyg">shared by Jones in a tweet</a>, the admin of the group stated that they would remove any posts not coded and that "coding is important and carrots are to date not picked up by AI censors." Another image shared by Jones showed the shot glass emoji used to replace the word "shot," though he did not specify where the image was taken. <div type="image" title="A picture of the carrot emoji." height="1000" width="2000" msid="94248984" hostid="261" sizebytes="11954"></div>The BBC flagged the group using the emojis as code to Facebook's parent company Meta, which took them down."We have removed this group for violating our harmful misinformation policies and will review any other similar content in line with this policy. We continue to work closely with public health experts and the UK government to further tackle Covid vaccine misinformation," Meta said in a statement to the BBC.Some groups reappeared a little while after being removed, per the BBC. A <a href="https://www.politifact.com/article/2021/nov/04/people-are-using-coded-language-avoid-social-media/">previous Politifact report</a> found other tactics used to foil automated moderation, for instance by using deliberate misspellings like writing "Seedy Sea" and "Eff Dee Aye" instead of CDC and FDA.The BBC also found examples of posts using the unicorn emoji or the V-shaped symbol for the astrological signs Aries as stand-ins for the word "vaccine." Other examples of emoji-based coding <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-employees-racist-english-soccer-player-comments-euro-championship-italy-2021-7">include using them to get away with posting racist abuse. </a>Emojis are harder for algorithms to understand because they are trained on text-based platforms like Wikipedia or books, <a href="https://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/news-events/news/ais-coming-home-how-artificial-intelligence-can-help-tackle-racist-emoji-in-football/">said Hannah Rose Kirk,</a> a social data science student of the Oxford Internet Institute, in a 2021 blog post.Rachel Moran, a researcher who studies COVID-19 misinformation at the University of Washington, <a href="https://www.politifact.com/article/2021/nov/04/people-are-using-coded-language-avoid-social-media/">previously told Politifact</a> that the coding does present a drawback: because it is harder to understand, the banned information still travels more slowly than if it were in plain English.

Anti-vaxxers evaded social-media content bans by replacing the word 'vaccine' with a carrot emoji, BBC investigation finds

<ul class="summary-list"><li>As classes switch to a <keyword id="27904" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Virtual">virtual</keyword> format, professors are finding themselves teaching to a blank screen.</li><li>One <keyword id="6762469" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="TikTok">TikTok</keyword> user recently posted a video of herself turning her camera on so her <keyword id="6356384" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="Professor">professor</keyword> would have a face to talk to during the three-hour lecture. </li><li>The video quickly gained over 2 million views, and others are following her trend. </li></ul>When Madison Moran, a sophomore at Michigan State <keyword id="5497" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="60" keywordseo="University">University</keyword>, started her fall semester online, she quickly noticed that none of her classmates had their cameras turned on. This left her professors teaching to dozens of small, black boxes.Fifteen minutes into a three-hour lecture, Moran decided to switch her camera on. She filmed the event, and the teacher can be spotted smiling at the appearance of Moran's face. "At least if she sees one face, she can communicate with someone and not feel like she's just talking to a blank screen," Moran told Insider. She posted the video on <a href="https://www.insider.com/category/tiktok">TikTok</a>, and it quickly gained 2.7 million views. Moran said the action changed the tone of the <keyword id="6356216" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="classroom">classroom</keyword>. With her and another student using their cameras, it was enough encouragement for other classmates to do the same.Now she estimates about 10 people consistently turn their cameras on in the class."They've all been talking to the teacher, and she's been laughing a lot more," Moran said. "She's really sweet and she clearly cares."<h2>The small action is something a lot of teachers are grateful for</h2>Rachel Greathouse, an adjunct art professor, said switching to online classes was a lot different than she had initially imagined. "I think it's just that the human element is missing," she told Insider. She mentioned that in an in-person classroom, she could notice cues and gauge her students.Now, with her classes online, those cues are missing. She estimates that less than half of her students are online during the synchronized classes, and only one or two will have their cameras on."With teaching, you're kind of putting on a little bit of a performance," she said. "You have to be interesting to keep people engaged, and it is hard when every camera is off ... so you kind of feel like you're talking to a wall."The few who do have their cameras on have made a difference, she said. Greathouse mentioned that in one class, she has a student who has his camera turned on, sits with his dog, and spends the time genuinely laughing at her jokes. She told Insider that students like that make all the difference.However, Greathouse said it was important to her that students have the option to have a camera on or off."You never know why they don't have their camera on," she said. For some students, having their camera on might not be something they're comfortable with, so Greathouse said it's never been a requirement in her classroom.Moran said she felt like having her camera on forces her to focus on the class."I think it forms a connection, so you're engaging with the material and engaging with each other," she said. <h2>Others have quickly followed Moran's trend by turning on their cameras</h2>Moran's TikTok video was flooded with comments. "My parents are both teachers, and my mom called me crying the other day because her students had their cameras on for the first time. Thank you," one TikTok user wrote.Another added: "As a teacher, thank you for doing this. Students don't realize that we're looking at [a] wall of black screens all day."Other TikTok users have followed the trend. Madison Christian posted a similar TikTok, which featured her turning on her camera during one of her forestry classes. In the video, Christian says she's nervous but that she wants her teacher to feel appreciated. It looks like he did, and viewers can hear a sweet "yeah" from the professor before the video cuts off."If anything I've done were to go viral, I'm glad that it was this video," she told Insider of her TikTok, which had 2.6 million views at the time of writing. "I honestly feel a bit silly having something so simple be seen as such an admirable thing.""Overall, I think the video has made people consider the little things that they can do to make life more enjoyable for others," Christian added. TikTokers in college are turning on their cameras in Zoom lectures so their professors don't have to teach to blank screens

The shirt Mitchell wears in the photo includes King's likeness and the words "Get your knee off our necks" and "BLM."Several people on Twitter said this suggested Mitchell was impartial as a juror.Last month, Mitchell and 11 other jurors <a href="https://www.insider.com/derek-chauvin-verdict-george-floyd-death-2021-4">found Chauvin guilty</a> of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, a Black man whose neck the officer knelt on for several minutes.Chauvin, who's awaiting sentencing in June, faces up to 40 years in prison on the most serious conviction, second-degree murder.Legal experts told <a href="https://www.startribune.com/chauvin-juror-defends-participation-in-march-on-washington-after-social-media-post-surfaces/600053102/?refresh=true" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Star Tribune</a>, <a href="https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/05/03/derek-chauvin-juror-brandon-mitchells-participation-in-d-c-march-could-help-appeal-legal-experts-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS Minnesota</a>, and <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/05/03/chauvin-trial-juror/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Washington Post</a> that the image would likely lead to questions in court, though they differed over a possible result.The experts said the discovery of the photo could give Chauvin a stronger case for an appeal and possibly even a mistrial.<h2>Juror said he didn't attend police-brutality protests</h2>Jurors were asked on their <a href="https://mncourts.gov/mncourtsgov/media/High-Profile-Cases/27-CR-20-12646/JurorQuestionnaire12222020.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initial questionnaire</a> whether they had participated in any "demonstrations or marches against <keyword id="53374" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Police-Brutality">police brutality</keyword> that took place in Minneapolis after George Floyd's death" and whether they or anyone close to them had "participated in protests about police use of force or police brutality."Mitchell told the Star Tribune that he answered no to both questions and felt he had been "extremely honest" in answering the questionnaire.He made conflicting comments about the T-shirt. He told CBS Minnesota that he wore it to reflect events in 2020, not because he believed he was attending a protest focused on Floyd. But in his interview with the Star Tribune, he said he had no recollection of wearing or owning the shirt.Mitchell told the Star Tribune that the march in August was "100% not" a march for Floyd but a voter-registration rally.However, Floyd's brother and sister, Philonise and Bridgett Floyd, spoke at the event, which was organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network. Sharpton had announced the march during Floyd's memorial and has maintained close ties to the Floyds' legal team. He was at the press conference last month where the Floyd family and their legal team reacted to the Chauvin verdict.NAN <a href="https://nationalactionnetwork.net/register-for-nans-march-on-washington-get-your-knee-off-our-necks/">described</a> the <a href="https://nationalactionnetwork.net/commitment-march-get-your-knee-off-our-necks/">August march</a> as "instigated from the protest movement that has risen up since the police killing of George Floyd" and meant to "demonstrate our advocacy for comprehensive police accountability reform, the Census, and mobilizing voters for the November elections."Joseph Daly, a professor emeritus at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, told the Star Tribune that if Mitchell "specifically was asked, 'Have you ever participated in a Black Lives Matter demonstration,' and he answered, 'No,' to that, I think that would be an important appealable issue."The civil-rights attorney Brian Dunn told The Post that an inquiry could focus on whether Mitchell "lied about, or failed to provide complete answers on whether he has engaged in public activism, or whether he has any affiliations with BLM that go beyond the mere wearing of the shirt.""If it is determined that the juror did not provide full disclosure to the defense, the question then becomes whether this lack of candor violated Mr. Chauvin's right to a fair trial," Dunn said.<h2>'It's really hard to overturn a conviction'</h2>In general, the experts said the photo would lead to questions in court and could bolster Chauvin's appeal case. It could also lead to a mistrial, though that would be an extreme conclusion.Experts who spoke with CBS Minnesota agreed that Mitchell would have to be questioned in what's known as a Schwartz hearing and said that depending on his answers, a mistrial could be called.But Rachel Moran, a law professor, told CBS Minnesota that it would be hard to overturn Chauvin's guilty verdict."It's really hard to overturn a conviction, and courts are especially reluctant to interfere with the jury deliberation process," Moran said.Alan Tuerkheimer, a jury consultant, told The Post that Chauvin's attorney would likely use the photo to push for an appeal but that the photo in and of itself was not enough to dismiss the conviction.Tuerkheimer said Mitchell could be questioned to assess whether he lied on the questionnaire, had an agenda, or came to the case with his mind made up."That could change the outcome of things; if there is anything that makes him seem that he was not forthcoming, it could be an avenue for the judge to reconsider the case," Tuerkheimer said.<h2>Was Chauvin's lawyer thorough?</h2>It could also be the case that Chauvin's defense attorney didn't do a good enough job screening Mitchell.Daly told the Star Tribune that jurors are not expected to open up their entire lives and list everything they've "ever done that may or may not relate to this case.""It's the job of the lawyers to look for and find unbiased jurors," he said.The Minnesota Attorney General's Office, Chauvin's defense attorney, and Mitchell did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

She started her YouTube channel in 2011 while she was in middle school and began to post videos consistently to her channel when she got to high school, she told Business Insider.In 2016, she had her first paid deal with a hair care company, earning "a couple hundred dollars," she said. "If I'm working with a brand to promote something I use every day, why don't I just create my own?" To market the product, she used her newsletter, Instagram account, and YouTube channel. In an Instagram post shared on April 2, Draper James asked teachers to submit their information via a Google form before April 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET for a chance to win a dress. The "Draper James ❤️Teachers" initiative was meant to show appreciation for their "tireless efforts during the COVID-19 quarantine.""During quarantine, teachers are broadcasting lessons from their own homes and figuring out new remote-learning technology and platforms on the fly, all while continuing to educate and connect with our kids," Witherspoon said in a press release shared with Insider."Advocating for the children of the world is no easy task, so I wanted to show teachers a little extra love right now." <h2>Teachers rushed to fill out the form and by the end of the giveaway, Draper James had almost a million applicants — and only 250 dresses to gift</h2>Marissa Cooley, senior vice president for brand marketing and creative at Draper James, told Insider via email that the brand did "communicate the initial offering of 250 dresses through our press outreach," but they never anticipated the overwhelming response they would get. "Once we realized we weren't able to handle the volume, we have been working around the clock to try and find other ways to honor this incredible community and address need to the best of our ability. It was all hands on deck," she stated.In the initial press release Insider received, it didn't mention the number of dresses Draper James was going to be giving away. It wasn't until Insider followed up with a representative to confirm the number available <a href="https://www.insider.com/reese-witherspoon-teacher-draper-james-free-dress-2020-4">before publishing the news</a> that 250 came up. <div type="image" title="draper james press release" height="1036" width="1962" msid="75213292" hostid="261"></div>But the thousands of hopeful teachers hearing about the giveaway from Draper James' Instagram wouldn't see that number. Instead, they would only see "while supplies last," so they applied."We could see from reading through comments and DMs that there might be a misunderstanding about the offer applying to ALL teachers, so we promptly posted two Instagram Stories on Friday and Saturday to clarify how the giveaway would work," Cooley told Insider."During the application process, we also promptly sent a confirmation email to everyone who applied to more clearly communicate the details of the program, explaining that we had 250 dresses earmarked for this initiative," she added. <h2>Despite Draper James' efforts to clear up the miscommunication, the damage was already done, and some teachers say they felt cheated</h2>"I don't think they were really clear from the beginning," Rachel Serpico, a high-school teacher in New Jersey, told Insider. "It was a nice thing to do, but it felt like a scheme. They changed their original messaging." Tammy Petrie-Barnhill, a first-grade teacher in North Carolina, echoed Serpico's sentiment and said she doesn't blame other teachers for being upset. "I saw no indication that it was for a drawing for only 250 dresses," she said. "I sent the link to several other teachers thinking we were all getting a dress.""The contest was extremely misleading. I didn't even receive a coupon code like others did," Petrie-Barnhill added.Skylar Schur, a high-school teacher in New York City, agreed that Draper James' initial announcement made it sound as if a lot more teachers were going to be getting a free dress. "They said 'while supplies last,' but 250 is minuscule compared to the number of teachers in the country," Schur said. According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/15/fashion/reese-witherspoon-draper-james-coronavirus.html">The New York Times</a>, there are more than 3 million public-school teachers in the United States."I don't remember seeing that number when I tried to enter," Schur told Insider. "I think for teachers who were really excited about it, it should have been more clear."Cooley said that after seeing the initial confusion, Draper James increased the unique promo code from 25% to 30%, and the brand is still working to email them out to all of the teachers who entered. "We learned later from fielding inquiries via our customer care team and social DMs that many of these emails had gotten stuck in spam folders or had been entered in the original form with one or two characters off, resulting in misdelivery," she stated."We have been working tirelessly to rectify all of these inquiries on a one-to-one basis, and our customer care team has been providing 30% off codes to all teachers who did not receive their email," Cooley said. <h2>Many teachers also expressed concern over giving Draper James access to their ID photos, a step that was required to enter the giveaway</h2>"I was disappointed to feel it was just a publicity stunt to get our information," Erica Yonks, a high-school art teacher in New York City, said. "I expected more from Reese Witherspoon and Draper James."Cooley made it clear to Insider that all IDs were deleted immediately. "Everyone has the opportunity in every communication to unsubscribe from Draper James emails, but we have worked to make it as clear and simple as possible for anyone to opt-out from brand communications if they no longer want to hear from us," she said. "Consent is very important to us, so we did state at the outset that opting in to marketing communications was a condition of entry."<h2>The teachers who did receive a free dress admitted they were really excited and felt appreciated</h2>The lucky recipients got an email on April 7 with a unique promo code and a link to a private shopping page that would let them pick from the six different <keyword id="7" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="style">style</keyword>s Draper James had to give away. Each style retails for $78.<div type="image" title="draper james dress" height="1867" width="1400" msid="75213293" hostid="261"></div>In addition to a free dress, the winning teachers also received the same 30% promo code that those who didn't win have been emailed. "One day I was doing some school work and I saw on my screen, 'You won a free dress!'" Diana Bryant, a second-grade teacher in New York City, told Insider. "I was a teacher who had never heard of Draper James before, and I love my dress. I will probably be going shopping on their website now, too."<div type="image" title="draper james winning email" height="1212" width="1570" msid="75213294" hostid="261"></div>Another winning teacher admitted she was sad to see that the good intentions Draper James had in gifting teachers a dress was being lost among the confusion. "Draper James was doing something nice for teachers and it goes against what we are supposed to teach our students. Acts of kindness matter even if you don't benefit from them directly," Alexis Salomone, a second-grade teacher in Connecticut, told Insider."When there are teacher giveaways, they usually are things for our classrooms, which is just as nice to get, but it was nice to be noticed as just people," Salomone said. Michelle Mustardo, a middle-school art teacher in New Jersey who also won, told Insider she thinks teachers need to realize that Witherspoon and the employees at Draper James were just trying to do their best. "We should be building each other up and honoring the fact that there is a company out there giving us something pretty to wear for when we go back to school," she said. "Give Reese a break, she just did something good. She's a mother, her kids are home, she's in quarantine too, and here she is trying to run a business and do something nice and it is getting turned into something negative."For Molly Moran, a middle-school teacher in Minnesota, winning a dress was an exciting experience because she had such a personal connection to Reese Witherspoon and Draper James. Moran told Insider the actress has actually been her idol for a long time. "I was Elle Woods in a 'Legally Blonde' production when I was in high school," she said. "So when I had a really tough first year of teaching, my mom bought me a Draper James dress to make me feel powerful like Elle Woods, and now I actually won one of her dresses."<h2>After the giveaway ended, both Draper James and Reese Witherspoon made a donation to Donors Choose, a nonprofit organization that allows people to donate directly to classroom projects at public schools</h2>Charles Best, the founder of <a href="https://www.donorschoose.org/">Donors Choose</a>, told Insider that Witherspoon reached out to him personally before Easter weekend to donate. He also said Draper James is making an ongoing donation. "Like so many of our partners, Reese and Draper James aren't disclosing the exact amount of their donation," Best said. "I can personally vouch for its scale and generosity. It's awesomely generous in size and scope." The donation will cover the organization's Keep Kids Learning program, which is an ongoing program in New Orleans, Nashville, and Atlanta.Through Keep Kids Learning, teachers at public schools where more than 90% of kids qualify for free or reduced lunches are given a $1,000 education credit to send personalized packages to their students in low-income households. "There will still be funds available from their donation, so we are going to distribute them to randomly selected teachers all over America," Best added. <h2>Draper James wants all teachers who entered to know that they apologize and are committed to expanding the initiative</h2>"We are very sorry for any confusion," Cooley stated. "We hope that any misunderstanding doesn't eclipse the original intent: to draw awareness to teachers' heroic efforts — every day, but especially in this incredibly difficult time." "We also learned that clarity is key. Moving forward, we would want to take more time to develop a concept like this and anticipate potential risks and challenges beyond the positive outcomes," she explained. Cooley also said the company is working on ways to go beyond its initial offering by looking into safely securing more inventory from its four stores in Tennessee, Texas, Kentucky, and Georgia. The hope is to reward more teachers in the coming weeks. "We've clearly struck a chord. And teachers are so deserving, now and always," Cooley said.
