This is an eleven-month low figure and is clearly driven by the faster-than-expected decline in food inflation which stood at 5.1 per cent in the previous month," Suman <keyword id="41544" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="chowdhury" source="Orion">Chowdhury</keyword>, Chief Analytical Officer said. According to Chowdhury, the fall in retail inflation has been due to the quick drop in vegetable prices which is a seasonal phenomenon apart from the continuing softness in edible oil prices. "Nevertheless, the core inflation figure remains high for <keyword id="30067" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rbi" source="Orion">RBI</keyword>'s comfort and has in fact moved up further to 6.29 per cent in Nov-22 from 6.23 per cent in Oct-22; on an MoM basis, the core inflation went up by 0.43 per cent, highlighting the embedded nature of the current inflationary environment," Chowdhury said. The moderately healthy, if not strong, momentum in domestic demand is leading to the holding up of the core inflation. Also, the base factor was relatively an advantage for the Nov-22 print which may not be the case for Dec-22. Therefore, we don't expect any significant trend downward for the CPI inflation for the next few months, Chowdhury said. "Given the core inflation trajectory, we continue to forecast an average figure of 6.7 per cent for CPI inflation in FY23. We also continue to expect another round of modest hike in Feb-23 which will take the terminal rate to 6.5 per cent or higher," Chowdhury said. According to CARE Ratings, though the inflationary pressures are on a declining trend, the war against inflation is still not over. The moderation in food inflation is comforting, but it is mostly led by vegetables which are susceptible to weather fluctuations. November retail inflation may be down, but the war against inflation is on say experts

Mumbai, Feb 12 () The production of rabi cereals in 2019-20 is expected to grow 4.52 per cent to 134.23 million tonne compared to the previous year due to good soil moisture following above normal rainfall during the northeast monsoon season (October-December), according to a report.In 2018-19, the total rabi cereals production stood at 128.43 million tonne, according to National Bulk Handling Corporation's (NBHC) rabi crop estimates.The area under wheat is likely to increase 12.03 per cent to 33.44 million hectare and production expected to improve by 9.01 per cent to 111.40 million tonne.However, rabi rice acreage is recorded lower by 23.24 per cent at 2.61 million hectare against 3.40 million hectare last year. Its production is expected to fall significantly by 27.96 per cent to 10.30 million tonne from 14.29 million tonne last year mainly due to marginal shift in farmers' focus to pulses and wheat.Total coarse cereals production is expected to rise 4.92 per cent to 12.54 million tonne in 2019-20. There is likely to be growth in production of jowar (2.43 million tonne), maize (8.28 million tonne) and barley (1.83 million tonne).Jowar acreage has improved significantly by 19.12 per cent while the acreages of maize and barley are expected to show a marginal surge of 6.45 per cent and 6.85 per cent, respectively, the report by NBHC added.Overall, the pulses acreage is expected to increase 1.86 per cent to 15.92 million hectare from 15.63 million hectare last year. However, the production is expected to decline 2.47 per cent to 15.17 million tonne even as there is a growth in gram acreage and production by 10.14 per cent (10.64 million hectare) and 7.90 per cent (10.93 million tonne), respectively.Moong acreage is expected to decline significantly by 26.32 per cent to 0.56 million hectare from 0.76 million hectare last year and production is expected to fall 26.38 per cent to 0.38 million tonne from 0.51 million tonne.Urad acreage is expected to fall 21.44 per cent to 0.74 million hectare from 0.94 million hectare last year and production too is expected to slip 20.17 per cent to 0.56 million tonne.Overall, the pulses acreage is expected to increase 1.86 per cent to 15.92 million hectare and the production expected to fall 2.47 per cent at 15.17 million tonne. However, total oilseeds acreage is expected to decline marginally 0.87 per cent to 7.97 million hectare and production expected to dip 7.39 per cent to 10.17 million tonne from 10.98 million tonne last year.Mustard acreage is expected to decline 0.29 per cent to 6.92 million hectare and production likely to fall 6.92 per cent to 8.69 million tonne from 9.34 million tonne last year.Groundnut and sunflower production is estimated to be lower by 8.87 per cent (1.12 million tonne) and 39.24 per cent (0.08 million tonne), respectively. New Delhi, Nov 19 () Onion production in kharif and late-kharif seasons of 2019-20 is estimated to fall 26 per cent to 52.06 lakh tonne, putting pressure on supply and prices, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Tuesday.
 The all-India average retail price of onion stood at Rs 60.38 per kg on November 15, compared with Rs 22.84 per kg on the same date last year.
 In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, he said onion is a seasonal crop with harvesting period of rabi (March to June), kharif (October to December) and late-kharif (January-March). During July to October, the supply in the market comes from stored onions from rabi season.
 "During 2019-20, there was a 3-4 weeks delay in sowing as well as decline in sown area of the kharif onion because of late arrival of monsoon. Further, untimely prolonged rains in the major growing states of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh during the harvesting period caused damage to the standing crops in these regions," Paswan said.
 As a result, the minister said the production of kharif crop was affected.
 The rains during September-October also hit transportation of crop from these producing regions to consuming centres, he said.
 "This led to limited availability of kharif onions in the market and has put pressure on its prices," Paswan said.
 During the current year, the production of kharif and late-kharif is estimated to be 52.06 lakh tonne, which is about 26 per cent lower than the previous year's production of 69.91 lakh tonne in the same seasons, the minister said.
 Paswan said the government has banned onion exports and imposed stock limits to boost domestic supply and check prices. MJH HRS

Kennedy Jr.</a> stowed the bear carcass in the back of his car, he said. He spent the day hunting with hawks and got dinner with friends at a Peter Luger steakhouse.Day turned to dusk. Kennedy needed to catch a flight. He realized he wouldn't be able to skin the bear and put its flesh into his refrigerator in his Westchester home in time. So he stashed the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/robert-kennedy-dumped-dead-bear-cub-central-park-new-york-2024-8">bear cub carcass in Central Park</a>, which he thought would be funny, he recounted years later.At some point during that day, Kennedy — who is now an independent candidate for president of the United States — posed with the bear cub's corpse in a photo that became instantly famous when the New Yorker published it earlier this month. He stuck his hand in the bear's bloody mouth, looked down, and grimaced.As it turns out, Kennedy may have been touching the bear's brain matter.Business Insider has obtained the state report detailing the necropsy the Department of Environmental Conservation performed on the bear cub.The document reveals Kennedy had good instincts when it came to evaluating the bear's flesh. The animal "is in good flesh with good fat reserves for its age and season," <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5ECFLG2EwI">Kevin Hynes</a>, the wildlife biologist who performed the necropsy, wrote in his report for the department's Wildlife Health Unit."The carcass is relatively fresh and the tissues are in good postmortem condition," Hynes wrote in the report.According to the report, the 7- or 8-month-old female bear was smashed in the head — which is consistent with Kennedy's story that it was hit by a van.The cranium was "destroyed," Hynes wrote, and the brain tissue left there was "scrambled, liquefied, and hemorrhagic." Much of the bear's brain tissue leaked and exited through its mouth and nostrils, according to the report."The brain structures are unrecognizable (unsuitable for rabies testing)," the report says.Reached by phone, Hynes referred questions to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, which declined to make him available for an interview.In an <a target="_blank" href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2024/08/12/robert-f-kennedy-jr-profile-presidential-campaign">interview with the New Yorker</a>, Kennedy speculated that sticking his hand in the bear's mouth may be how he got his <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rfk-jr-brain-dead-worm-parasite-expert-2024-5">brain worm.</a>But he testified about the parasite in his own cranium in a deposition two years before the bear was killed, according to The New York Times. In the deposition, Kennedy said a doctor told him the worm went "into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died."Representatives for Kennedy's presidential campaign didn't respond to requests for comment from Business Insider Friday.The bear's skin, carcass, and brain tissue sample were frozen and locked away in the state environmental department's wildlife health unit. The frozen remains are no longer in the department's possession, according to agency spokesperson Jeff Wernick, who said samples "generally get destroyed."<h2 id="e9ea8d17-8711-4c7a-9623-e4c63b92e297">RFK Jr. and the bear carcass may have something else in common</h2>Kennedy first disclosed the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/robert-kennedy-dumped-dead-bear-cub-central-park-new-york-2024-8">bear story</a> in a video posted to social media ahead of the publication of the New Yorker article."I said, 'Let's go put the bear in Central Park, and we'll make it look like he got hit by a bike,'" Kennedy said in the video. "It'll be fun, funny for people. So everybody thought, 'That's a great idea.' So we went and did that, and we thought it would be amusing for whoever found it."A woman walking her dog found the bear the next day, October 6, around 8:45 a.m. Law enforcement organizations moved the carcass from underneath a bicycle, which Kennedy or one of his friends apparently left on top of it, wrapped it in a tarp, and took it to the Wildlife Health Unit for the necropsy.Hynes, examining the bear's corpse, quickly concluded that the cub was likely killed by a vehicle. Until RFK publicly took credit for dumping the bear's corpse, authorities had no idea who put it there.
