Ayu Health, founded by Himesh Joshi, Arijit Gupta, and Karan Gupta in 2019, currently works with 20 hospital chains spread across Bengaluru and Chandigarh. The company started its journey with five-six hospitals in Chandigarh to aggressively test out its offering and expanded to another fifteen hospitals around the second wave of COVID-19 in April-May 2021. The company now wants to expand its services to six cities by the end of 2022. These cities include Delhi NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad and more, Ayu Health’s cofounder Joshi told Business Insider in an interview. Ayu Health has bagged $6.5 million to turn this dream into reality. The Series A round, announced on September 16, was led by Singapore-based Vertex Ventures and Stellaris Venture Partners. Serial entrepreneur Ashish Gupta, Mamaearth’s cofounder Varun Alagh, EyeQ founder Rajat Goel also participated in the round. The latest fundraise will help Ayu Health expand its hospital network to incorporate 5,000 beds compared to the existing 1,200, Joshi told Business Insider. A part of the funding will also be used to upscale the company’s existing product suite such as insurance processing, procurement of products and clinical quality management at network hospitals. Joshi claimed that Ayu Health’s partner hospitals use its technology platform to improve clinical quality, procure medicines and consumables, and process insurance claims. This results in better clinical outcomes, a smooth in-hospital experience and transparent pricing for patients, he added. The company has also digitised the entire consultation, medicine prescription and payments procedure to offer better experience to customers and avoid hospital visits. It helps its partner hospitals create a more asset-light network, where Ayu Health manages end-to-end administrative operations and the faculty looks into the clinical treatments. Ritesh Agarwal-led budget hotel chain OYO also follows a similar model when it comes to the hotel and hospitality segment. The company partners with hotel chains across 80 countries offers tech solutions to digitise their business and claims to further enhance their business preposition. "The OYO analogy is fine, primarily this being a similarly asset-light model. We are also doing a lot more than just demand generation for our partners - technology for patient management and experience, procurement and insurance processing," Joshi added. Joshi believes that India's healthcare space is still fragmented and the patients aren't always unsure about where to go and the quality of clinical services. “We felt very strongly whether there was a need to create a branded hospital that could solve for three pain points, transparency and pricing consistently good clinical outcomes and high quality experience,” Joshi said. According to the Human Development <a href="http://hdr.undp.org/en/2020-report">Report </a>2020, India has only five hospital beds for 10,000 people. The lack of healthcare facilities and the onset of COVID-19 was one of the factors why India decided to introduce Telemedicine guidelines and National Digital Health Mission in 2020. More digitised solutions in healthcare can help companies like India tackle the lack of healthcare services and also strengthen the existing healthcare system. According to the Weforum report, the four digital themes in healthcare would include smart care, care anywhere, empowered care and intelligent healthcare enterprise. After selling their previous startup to Quikr, Zefo founders are building an OYO for hospitals

Online classifieds provider Quikr is close to acquiring a majority stake in realty portal <keyword id="6381425" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="80" keywordseo="COMMONFLOOR">CommonFloor</keyword> according to three people familiar with the ongoing negotiations, with the pay-out estimated to be worth about Rs 330 crore ($50 million) said one of the people. 
	 
	The potential deal between the two companies — which count New York-based investment firm Tiger Global Management as a common investor — is slated to close soon, with talks having begun nearly five months ago. 
	 
	"While the management of CommonFloor is looking for an external investor, and resisting the Quikr deal, investors have pushed for an acquisition which is now in the due diligence stage," said one source to ET. 
	 
	The contours of the deal, including whether CommonFloor will operate as a subsidiary of Quikr are still being worked out. 
	 
	Bengaluru-based CommonFloor has been in talks to raise fresh funding from financial investors for several months now. 
	 
	Founded in 2008 by Jain, Lalit Mangal and Vikas Malpani, the company has so far received over $60 million in venture funding and was valued at a little over $100 million in its last round of fund raising. 
	 Earlier this year Quikr, which is also backed by Swedish investment firm <keyword id="2026314" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="Kinnevik">Kinnevik</keyword>, looked at Soft-Bank-backed Housing.com for a potential acquisition, but people aware of the developments said the talks fell through as the two parties could not agree on a price. 
	 
	Bengaluru-based Quikr — founded in 2008 and now valued at about $ 900 million — is building various verticals across segments like automobiles, blue &amp; grey collar jobs in addition to realty.

There is a picture for reference. Goats of varying shapes and sizes are priced as cheap as 5,000 to as steep as 40,000 depending upon the breed and size of the goat. 
 
That’s not all. These websites have also introduced special goats to lure in customers to buy goats online. 
 
The only downside? While buying a goat online, breeders will neither be able to bargain for prices, nor will they be able to conduct a check on the goat for their satisfaction. 
 
That must be the reason why a farmer in Rajasthan was successful in selling a goat for a whopping Rs 2.5 lakh. 
 
Offline farmers aren’t pleased with this development, as expected. Majority of them not only fear that their business will suffer, but they also believe that buying a goat online doesn’t have the same charm as buying it in person. 
 
Yes, because you’d rather have a first-hand look at the life of the animal you’re about to kill than have it wrapped and delivered to you. 
 
While, I’m not sure how the delivery of the said product will be carried out, I would just like to take the opportunity to say this- if you’re a true lover of goats, buy it the old-fashioned way, by stepping out and participating in the walk of shame towards the market.

Sage, a UK-based accounting, and payroll company stated this in a research and reinstated the belief that the premier institution is still numero uno for attaining success. 
 
In terms of countries that are home to the most number of unicorns, US tops the list with 144 unicorns, followed by China with 47. India grabbed the third spot with 10.

 The <keyword id="73593" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="University-of-California">University of California</keyword> came third with 18 unicorn founders and <keyword id="6354859" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIT">IIT</keyword> followed with 12 founders. 
 India is home to 10 unicorn companies from e-commerce giants <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> and ShopClues to cab aggregator Ola, restaurant aggregator Zomato, classified ads platform Quickr, digital payments company <keyword id="6357120" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PayTM">Paytm</keyword>, mobile ad tech player InMobi, messaging app Hike and analytics company Mu Sigma.

According to the study, for over 60% of the founders all over the world, the current unicorn company was the only company they had ever built. However, indicating that experience literally pays, the research said those who founded more than one company have, on average, a 34.5% higher valuation than those who founded just one company ($4.29bn vs $5.88bn).

With <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=startup">startups</a> mushrooming every second and old ones firming their ground with investors and innovation, e-Commerce giants like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=flipkart">Flipkart</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal">Snapdeal</a>, Quickr, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Urban+Ladder">Urban Ladder</a>, etc are looking for top talent to cement their place in the industry. 
 
For this, they are eyeing top <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=engineering+students">engineering institutes</a> for recruitment and are offering lucrative offers to woo students at IITs, NITs and other institutes. 
 While, <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword> is planning to double the number of employees of its technology team to 2,400 engineers, <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword> will also do the same to about 2,000 this year. 
 
As per Economic Times, nearly 10% of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=IIT">IIT</a> students had joined such companies last year and the percentage may grow this time round. 
 
"We are not limiting ourselves to any fixed number for campus hiring. We are rearing to go and will be aggressive at the tech, B-school and logistics campuses. We will attract talent by selling them the opportunity to work with an ecommerce leader that will impact a larger audience," Dalbir Singh, senior director human resources at Flipkart, told ET. 
 
Snapdeal will rely heavily on the campuses for fresh talent to widen its base of tech team. 
 
Meanwhile, Rajiv Srivatsa, chief operating officer and co-founder of Urban Ladder, said the startup plans to visit campuses earlier this year than it did last time round. "Technology is where the rubber meets the road and ideas become reality. As technology is so integral to us, this year we will try to be ahead of others in tapping the top campus talent," Dhruv Dubey, vice president - HR at <keyword id="6381424" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Quikr">Quikr</keyword>, told the financial daily. 
 
Meanwhile, interest level among students to join startups is also growing due to roles and atmosphere offered by the startups. 
 
"I will go to the top IITs and talk about the company and the culture that boosts fun and flexibility," online grocer PepperTap's CEO Navneet Singh told ET. 
 
Also, hiring students at an early stage is also becoming the norm at e-Commerce companies.

The new concept of ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=speed+hiring">speed hiring</a>’ is catching up as recruiters want that e-Commerce giants like <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=snapdeal">Snapdeal</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=foodpanda">Foodpanda</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ola">Ola cabs</a>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=quickr">Quickr</a> and other startups should spend less time in hiring professionals. 
 Under '<keyword id="3003193" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Speed-hiring">speed hiring</keyword>', candidates are tested on their cognitive abilities in just about 12 minutes and those selected are offered joining letters. 
 
"In start-ups and new age businesses, life moves very fast and scenario changes every fortnight and therefore it is important to show the result to the investors. So, it may not be viable to invest half of the time in recruiting," executive search firm GlobalHunt MD Sunil Goel told news agency PTI. 
 
CoCubes Technologies has undertaken hiring in the fast lane. It has developed a Cognitive Ability Speed Test (CAST), which carries 50 objective type questions on English grammar, ratios, percentage and inductive reasoning to assess the cognitive abilities of the candidates. 
 
"While CAST is definitely more popular among start-ups with large-scale hiring, larger established companies like WNS and Allianz Cornhill are also using it,” CoCubes' co-founder and CEO Harpreet Singh Grover told PTI. 
 
Meanwhile, experts say the result from this new-age <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=hiring">hiring</a> is quite impressive. 
 Saurabh Nigam, Vice President (HR) at e-commerce major <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="80" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>, which used the CoCubes' platform told the news agency, "In the last six months of implementation, with over 22,000 assessments, CAST has shown correlation of 81 per cent with offer ratio and has helped to provide a seamless experience for the candidates.” 
 
IT outsourcing firm GlobalLogic' associate vice president (HR and L&amp;D) Rajiv Naithani told PTI speed hiring at fresher level helps organisation in big way when companies are looking for immediate absorption of talent pool at junior level. 
 
However, chemical and textile company GHCL Limited's vice president Rajesh Tripathi also informed one may tend to miss out on the cultural fitment of the candidate in the organization during the speed hiring process. 
 
"It may also happen that the recruiter may initially feel less ownership of the entire process," Tripathi told PTI.

Now get hired in 12 minutes flat!

While the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Heres-why-Budget-2016-is-crucial-for-the-real-estate-sector/articleshow/50835775.cms">Real Estate sector</a> is facing a slug in the market, the scenario is a little bit different for online players. Despite realty sales being the slowest in the past two years, the online <keyword id="6354553" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="real-estate">real estate</keyword> sector has attracted a whooping investment of $250 million or Rs, 1600 crores. Consolidation of the market has been the main reason behind its growth. In the last one year we saw the merger of CommonFloor and Quickr and acquisition of Makaan.com by PropTiger. 
 The online game is played mainly by two players, investors like 99 acres, <keyword id="2501463" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Magic-bricks">Magic Bricks</keyword> and Housing.com and transaction players like <keyword id="3241608" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Squareyards">Squareyards</keyword>. In the last two years, while classified players struggled to find a good monetisation model, the whole value shifted to the transaction sites. 
 
“Last year we actually grew more than 225%,” said Vivek Agarwal, Principal Partner, Squareyards.com who acquired three companies in the last few years. 
 
Challenges 
 
1. Cost of property is skyrocketing due ever increasing tax limits. 
 
2. Lack of any uniform GSP forces the online portal to provide separate provisions for each state. 
 
3. The usage of technology is limited. 
 
“Most of the work is done manually and hence becomes cumbersome for online portals,” said Sudarshan Purohit, CEO and co-founder of Zenify.in, online real estate player. 
 
4. The sector is not corporatized yet. It is still dominated by small players. 
 
“The first thing we are expecting is to gain an industry status,” said Vivek. 
 
5. While building, too many clearances need to be done which are often delayed and not transparent. 
 
Expectations 
 
1. “One of the things that we are looking forward is more exemption in the housing loan limit,” said Agarwal of Squareyards. Right now we get certain part of our housing loan exempted from taxes but the way costs have moved up, the small part has become insignificant now. 
 
2. Also, the housing loan exemption is not applicable for the units which are under construction. But looking at these companies’ customers’ profiles, we will see most of them invested in construction property but they can’t take the exemption till the property is actually constructed. 
 
“We want this exemption to be extended to construction property also,” said Vivek. 
 
3. They certainly hope that Real Estate Regulatory Bill is passed. Once that bill is passed it will open many doors for the online real estate sector. The builder will then have to put online all the details with the regulatory authority like the license status, land acquisition status, details of environment clearance etc. 
 
“Things will become more organised. When the information estimation goes away, the information will become structured structured. Hence, portals can put all the information online from where a customer will get all the details with a single click,” he said. 
 
4. Most of the demand on the online portals is from the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Budget-2016-Why-rental-housing-is-the-next-big-thing-in-the-realty-sector/articleshow/50931836.cms">budget and affordable segment</a> which ranges from 20 lakhs to 70 lakhs. Once this government pushes ‘<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Housing-for-All-Budget-2016-expectations/articleshow/50901695.cms">Housing for all by 2022</a>’, the online sector will get a major boost. This will also attract NRIs to invest in India. As a consequence, the online sector will grow at a breakneck speed for these portals are the major source of information for the buyers abroad. 
 
“We sold about 780 units in the affordable segment in three weeks in Bangalore, most in the range of 20 lakhs. The customers were both from India and abroad,” said Vivek. 
 
5. “We expect more investment in Technology of this sector, about 1 billion,” said Sudarshan. 
 
6. The company raised capital of Rs.50 crores in the seed round of funding collectively from both the investors.

	How has your journey been so far?
 

	The group was working at various places like Yahoo!, Cisco, Adobe when we came together to build a start-up. You are at the valley and every other day a start-up was being born. That inspires you to build your own business too.
 

	According to a research by Cisco, the number of smartphones grew by 54 percent in 2014 to 140 million, and the number of smartphones will grow 4.7-fold between 2014 and 2019 to a total of 651 million.
 

	We were tech folks and hence we thought “Can we leverage this power?”
 Hence we started Cube 26 to make the devices more human friendly. We first developed a video sensor which is now popularly known as “Look Away to Pause”. If you are watching a video and someone comes in and you look away, the phone knows you are no longer watching the video and it is paused. This was a simple product which was launched in <keyword id="71696" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Micromax">Micromax</keyword> <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Facebook-Reveals-Its-Home-On-Android/articleshow/21200769.cms">android</a> phones. <keyword id="173725" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Samsung-Galaxy">Samsung Galaxy</keyword> uses it now too. 

	After a while we realised the potential of utility apps. If the app serves a purpose, the users will use it more. Hence, we started taking apps and added functionalities to it. Like, if you take your messaging app, you have lot of spam messages and notifications coming in. The simple things like spam filters become a utility for you.
 We started building monetisation apps as well like the local playstores where brands can acquire user customers. We did campaigns for <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, Myntra, ZO rooms, Quickr. These started generating revenues for both the companies as well as the OEMs who were making shares out of these things. 

	What are the challenges you faced when you first started the venture in India?
 

	When we started, we were purely tech guys and we had to build products that had to be scaled. So the first challenge was to understand the products that people usually buy. 
 

	Next was to identify the true market for your product.
 

	The third challenge was raising capital.
 

	What was your first failure? 
 

	In the first year we applied “Look Away to Pause” to the ad industry in US to help brands understand how their advertisements are recognised by users and what the market is. We could not scale that as ad industry is a slow moving industry. This taught us that identifying the true market is extremely essential to scale the company and the product.
 

	What are your future initiatives?
 

	Currently, we are focusing on ecommerce ecosystem and we are integrating it back in the app. Like, if you have a flight to catch you add this in your calendar. Prior to an hour to your flight, Ola or Uber would send you notifications about the availability and other details of cabs. If you have to catch a cab in just five minutes, certainly you would not look at this service as an advertisement; it becomes a utility in itself.
 

	We are also launching our iota category soon with a whole new innovative IoT products which would be “need to have products” and not “good to have products”.
