The recovery fell to its slowest pace since the pandemic began as the Delta variant continued to be a drag on the recovery. Gross domestic product grew at an annualized rate of 2% over the three months that ended in September, slower than the expected 2.7% rate expected by Bloomberg economists. The pace marked the slowest growth since the first quarter of 2020, during the initial fallout from the COVID crisis. Nasdaq, S&P 500 hit record highs as earnings optimism outweighs mixed economic data

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="11921643" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="bank-of-america" source="Orion">Bank of America</keyword> reported third-quarter <keyword id="6357061" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="earnings" source="Orion">earnings</keyword> Thursday that beat analysts' profit estimates.</li><li>Its quarterly net income rose 58% to $7.7 billion, or 85 cents per share, as it booked record advisory fees.</li><li>"Our businesses regained the organic customer growth momentum we saw before the pandemic," CEO Brian Moynihan said.</li></ul><a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/bac-stock">Bank of America</a> reported <a href="https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0000070858/000007085821000098/bac09302021ex991.htm">third-quarter earnings</a> Thursday that blew past analyst expectations, with a rise in profit driven by record advisory fees and a strong performance from its investment banking business. It earned $4.9 billion and $0.51 per share in the same period last year, during the coronavirus restrictions.Big bank earnings are scrutinized for any indications as to the health of the US economy as it continues to reopen after pandemic restrictions. Analysts had expected $21.7 billion in revenue.Bank of America's shares rose 2.5% to $44.25 per share after the earnings release in premarket trading Wednesday. They are up 42% so far this year, compared with a 16.2% gain in the S&amp;P 500.Revenue in its global wealth and investment management rose 17% to $5.3 billion, driven by higher asset-management fees, and growth in loans and deposits. The global <keyword id="11893875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="markets" source="Orion">markets</keyword> business relatively underperformed, posting a 4% decline in revenue to $4.5 billion. Ahead of the earnings release, Wall Street expected the lender's loan growth to improve from a weaker first half of the year. Bank of America beats 3rd-quarter profit estimates, lifted by record-high advisory fees and a $1.1 billion reserve release

<ul class="summary-list"><li><keyword id="11896548" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="60" keywordseo="citigroup" source="Orion">Citigroup</keyword> on Thursday posted third-quarter per-share earnings and revenue that beat Wall Street's expectations. </li><li>The bank earned $2.15 a share, higher than an estimated $1.70 a share. </li></ul><a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/c-stock?utm_source=markets&amp;utm_medium=ingest?utm_source=markets&amp;utm_medium=ingestm=ingest">Citigroup</a> on Thursday reported a 48% climb in net income for its third quarter, with the financial services firm posting gains in capital <keyword id="11893875" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="markets" source="Orion">markets</keyword> revenue while it released funds reserved to cover potentially bad loans.Here are the key numbers:Revenue: $17.15 billion, versus the average analyst estimate of $17 billion.Earnings per share: $2.15 per share, versus the average analyst estimate of $1.70The company released $1.16 billion in loan loss reserves, after setting aside those funds last year as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to unfold. "The recovery from the pandemic continues to drive corporate and consumer confidence and is creating very active client engagement," said Citi CEO Jane Fraser in the company's earnings report. Investment banking revenue increased by 39% to $1.9 billion, and equities trading rose by 40% to $1.23 billion, ahead of the $909.4 million estimate from Bloomberg. While overall revenue topped estimates, it declined by 1% due to the sale of its Australian consumer banking business. Citi said revenue would've been up 3% excluding the impact of that sale.

Citi blows past 3rd-quarter earnings estimates as trading and release of loss reserve drives 48% jump in profit

IT firm Mindtree shares on Wednesday jumped over 2 per cent after the company reported a 3 per cent rise in consolidated net profit for the December 2019 quarter.
 The scrip gained 2.26 per cent to close at Rs 883.30 on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 4.41 per cent to Rs 901.90.
 On the NSE, it climbed 2.37 per cent to close at Rs 884.90.
 In terms of the traded volume, 3 lakh shares of the company were traded on the BSE and over 87 lakh shares on the NSE during the day.
 Mindtree on Tuesday reported a 3 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 197 crore for the December 2019 quarter.
 The company had posted a net profit of Rs 191.2 crore in the same period last year, Mindtree said in a regulatory filing.
 The Bengaluru-based company saw its revenue grew about 10 per cent to Rs 1,965.3 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 1,787.2 crore in the year-ago period, it added.
 In dollar terms, net profit rose 3.1 per cent to USD 27.7 million, while revenue increased 9.4 per cent to USD 275.2 million in the said quarter over the year-ago period.

Mindtree's share jumped by over 2% after quarterly profits hit $27.7 million

Private sector <keyword id="19945702" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="rbl-bank" source="keywords">RBL Bank</keyword> on Friday reported an 11% increase in its profit to Rs 233 crore in the third quarter ended in December 2023. The bank had earned a net profit of Rs 209 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Total income increased to Rs 3,969 crore during the quarter under review against Rs 3,116 crore in the same period last year, RBL Bank said in a regulatory filing. Interest income of the bank also improved to Rs 3,191 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 2,498 crore in the same period a year ago. The bank's gross <keyword id="19927319" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="non-performing-assets" source="keywords">Non-Performing Assets</keyword> (NPAs) declined to 3.12% of the total loans at the end of December 2023 from 3.61% a year ago. Net NPAs or bad loans also came down to 0.80% from 1.18% at the end of the third quarter of the previous fiscal.

RBL Bank Q3 profit rises 11% to Rs 233 crore

Public sector mortgage lender, <keyword id="6359231" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Central-Bank-of-India" source="Orion">Central Bank of India</keyword> closed the third quarter of FY24 with higher net profit of Rs.717.86 crore. In a regulatory filing on Friday, the bank said that for the quarter ended December 31, 2023, it had earned a total interest income of Rs 7,809.21 crore (Q3FY23 Rs 6,716.55 crore) and a net profit of Rs 717.86 crore (Rs 458.22 crore). The profit went up drastically owing to the sharp spike in the bank's other income for the quarter under review at Rs 1,329.72 crore (Rs 919.16 crore). During the quarter under review, the bank's provisions for non-performing assets came down to Rs 726.69 crore (Rs 849.62 crore). As on December 31, 2023, the bank's gross and net non-performing assets stood at Rs 10,786.49l crore (December 31, 2023 Rs 18,489.97 crore) and Rs. 2,955,57 crore (Rs 4,060.92 crore). According to the Central Bank of India, during the quarter under review, its total business by 11.48% to Rs. 6,17,368 crore with total deposits growing by 9.53% to Rs 377,722 crore and gross advances going up by 14.71% to Rs 239,646 crore. Net Interest Income (NII) marginally declined by 4.04% on Y-o-Y basis to Rs 3,152 crore in Q3FY24 as against Rs 3,285 crore for Q3FY23. However excluding one off exceptional item, NII was up 3.73% from Rs 3,042 crore in Q3FY23 to Rs 3,125 crore in Q3FY24.
