Korba, Apr 14 () Two more people, including awoman, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday in Korbadistrict of Chhattisgarh, taking the number of such cases inthe state to 33, officials said.Both cases were reported from Katghora town, which hasemerged as the top COVID-19 hotspot in the state. The town,located around 200 km from the state capital Raipur, accountsfor 24 of the 33 infections detected so far in the state.Two people, including a woman, from the Purani Bastiarea of the town tested positive for coronavirus, Katghora'sSub-Divisional Magistrate Suryakiran Tiwari said.They are being shifted to AIIMS Raipur for treatment,she said.The duo hails from the same area from where so far 21people, who came in contact with 16 Tablighi Jamaat membersstaying at a mosque in the locality, tested positive for theinfection, she said.The town has been sealed and samples of peopleresiding in the affected area are being collected for testing,Tiwari added.Earlier, a 16-year-old boy from the 16-member TablighiJamaat group, which stayed in the mosque of Purani Basti,tested positive for coronavirus on April 4. After this, 21others from the same area tested positive during the past oneweek.According to the police, people of the area hadoffered prayers and held mass feast with this Jamaat groupwhich reached Katghora from Maharashtra last month.So far, 10 people from the state have been dischargedafter recovering from the infection.With two fresh infections, the number of active casesstood at 23. Korba, Apr 17 () Three more people, including twowomen, tested positive for coronavirus in Katghora town ofChhattisgarhs Korba district, taking the number of such casesin the state to 36, officials said on Friday.Katghora, located around 200km from the state capitalRaipur, has emerged as the top COVID-19 hotspot inChhattisgarh with 27 confirmed cases reported so far from thetown.Three people, including two women, from the Puranibasti area of the town tested positive for coronavirus on lateThursday night, Korba Collector Kiran Kaushal said.They had come in contact with infected persons in thelocality, she said, adding the trio has been shifted to AIIMSRaipur for treatment.A 16-year-old boy from a 16-member Tablighi Jamaatgroup, which stayed in a mosque of the Purani Basti area, hadtested positive for coronavirus on April 4. After this, 23other residents of the area were also found to be infectedwith the viral disease.According to the police, people of the area hadoffered prayers and held mass feast with this Jamaat groupwhich came to Katghora from Maharashtra last month.So far, 23 people from the state have beendischarged after recovering from the infection, healthofficials have said.With three new patients, the tally of active caseshas reached 13, they said. Raipur, Apr 14 () Three persons were discharged onTuesday from the the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) here in Chhattisgarh after their recovery fromcoronavirus infection, Health officials said.With this, the total number of people discharged afterrecovery has reached to 13 in the state while that of activecases to 20, they said."The three patients--all men-- hailing from Katghoratown of the state's Korba district were discharged after theirtwo consecutive tests came out negative for coronavirus," apublic relations official at the AIIMS told .Now, 20 patients are undergoing treatment at theAIIMS, he said, adding that three of them were admitted afterbeing tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.Katghora, located around 200 kms from Raipur, hasemerged as the coronavirus hotspot in Chhattisgarh with 24confirmed cases reported so far.On April 4, a 16-year-old boy from a 16-memberTablighi Jamaat group staying in a mosque in Purani Basti areaof Katghora had tested positive for coronavirus, after which23 others in the area who had come in contact with Tablighisalso tested positive in the last one week."Out of the 4821 samples sent for screening until nowin the state, 33 tested positive while 4319 came out negative.Reports of 469 are awaited," he said.As many as 75837 people, most of them with travelhistory to abroad or other affected states, have been placedunder home quarantine as a precautionary measure, officialsadded. Raipur, Apr 18 () A 73-year-old man has become theoldest person from Chhattisgarh to have recovered from COVID-19 disease and discharged from hospital here, officials saidon Saturday.The septuagenarian from Katghora town in Korbadistrict has been discharged from the All India Institute ofMedical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, after his two consecutivetests for coronavirus infection came out negative, said PRO SSSharma.He returned to his home, ten days after he wasadmitted in the AIIMS for the infection, another officialsaid.With the latest such case, the number of the peoplerecovered from COVID-19 disease in the state has reached 25.Of the total 36 COVID-19 cases, 11 are active patients, theysaid."Low viral load in him, early detection and timelytreatment ensured his speedy recovery," Sharma said.He said eleven COVID-19 active cases are undergoingtreatment in the AIIMS at present and they are responding wellto medication."The 73-year-old man had contracted the virus from a16-year-old Tablighi who was part of a group that had stayedin a mosque of Purani Basti area in Katghora town. After theteenager tested positive on April 4, 26 others in the samearea also contracted the infection. Korba, Apr 9 () A 52-year-old man tested positivefor coronavirus in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, taking thetotal number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 11, officialssaid on Thursday.The man had come in contact with 16 Tablighi Jamaatmembers who were staying at a mosque in Purani Basti area ofKatghora town, he said.A 16-year-old boy from among these Islamicorganisation members earlier tested positive for coronaviruson April 4, and was admitted to the All India Institute ofMedical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur, he said."The 52-year-old man had taken part in a namaaz(prayer) with these Tablighi Jamaat members in the mosque andlives in the same locality," he said. Korba Collector Kiran Kaushal said samples of 52people who had come in contact with these Tablighi Jamaatmembers were collected for testing, of which one came outpositive on Wednesday night.The patient was shifted to AIIMS Raipur in the weehours of Thursday, she said.The Katghora town has been put under complete lockdownand its border has been sealed as a precautionary measure, shesaid.Family members of the infected person along with other234 families living in the area have been kept underquarantine, she added. "All seven patients are being shifted to All IndiaInstitute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Raipur.
