Prayagraj: In a bid to make Mahakumbh 2025 a '<keyword id="23849655" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Swachh-Kumbh" source="keywords">Swachh Kumbh</keyword>', the Uttar Pradesh government plans to install over 1.5 lakh toilets and urinals across the Mahakumbh area in Prayagraj, informed a press statement on Friday. The Prayagraj Mela Authority has set a target completion date of December 15. All vendors have been empanelled, and LOAs have been issued to ensure timely execution. Special Executive Officer for Kumbh Mela, Akanksha Rana, confirmed that the entire sanitation infrastructure, including jet spray cleaning systems and a comprehensive cesspool operation plan, will be ready by December 15. This plan includes provisions like septic tanks and soak pits. "To ensure cleanliness and safety, all facilities will be monitored via QR codes. A total of 55 vendors have been empanelled for the large-scale installation, ensuring that devotees and visitors to Prayagraj during Mahakumbh have access to <keyword id="23036950" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="community-toilets" source="keywords">community toilets</keyword>, minimizing any need for open-area use," she said. She further informed that, as per the Chief Minister's vision, a strong emphasis on sanitation is central to achieving a 'Swachh Kumbh'. Rana said, "Over 1.5 lakh toilets and urinals are being installed to accommodate the immense crowd expected on the main bathing day, Mauni Amavasya, which sees the highest gathering of devotees--estimated at 4 to 5 crore. This extensive setup, designed based on crowd studies, ensures no shortage of facilities on peak days and continuous 24-hour access on regular days, with dedicated cleaning arrangements." The installation plan includes 49,000 Kannath toilets with soak pits managed by 9 vendors, 12,000 FRP toilets with septic tanks managed by 10 vendors, and 17,000 FRP toilets with soak pits handled by 8 vendors. Additionally, 9,000 prefabricated steel-based community toilets with septic tanks and 23,000 with soak pits are being installed, handled by 7 and 8 vendors, respectively. The setup also includes 350 mobile toilets with 10 seats each (by 3 vendors), 15,000 cemented toilets (by 3 vendors), and 500 VIP toilets. For urinals, 20,000 FRP-based units are being installed, with 5 vendors assigned to this task. During Mahakumbh 2025, millions are expected to bathe at the sacred Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge. By visiting Prayagraj's revered temples, devotees will express their deep devotion to the Sanatan faith.

Prayagraj (UP), The railway will ensure crowd control management at stations in Prayagraj through AI (Artificial Intelligence) during the upcoming <keyword id="20077266" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="magh-mela" source="keywords">Magh Mela</keyword>. This will also will act as a rehearsal for <keyword id="20077265" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="maha-kumbh" source="keywords">Maha Kumbh</keyword> 2025. At a coordination meeting between railway official and the district administration, it has been decided that with the increase in crowd, the devotees would be stopped in 14 holding area including seven at <keyword id="20077267" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prayagraj-junction" source="keywords">Prayagraj Junction</keyword>, four at <keyword id="1248971" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="prayag-station" source="Orion">Prayag station</keyword> and three at Rambagh along with circulating areas. Additional bogies and Mela special trains will also be operated to meet out heavy rush. Shuttle buses and e-rickshaws will operate from the station to the mela area too. Preparations to deal with emergency situations were also discussed. Moreover, to keep a close watch on the movement of devotees, a control tower has been built on top of the station building, which will work for crowd management. Divisional level officers will manage the nine stations from control room, which will have arrangements for CCTV, hot line, wireless, display area board and the same will be connected to Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of the mela area. During the mela, direction-wise entry will be done in a controlled manner through passenger shelters from the city side only. Same planning is being done at Prayagraj Junction, Prayagraj Cheoki, Naini, Rambagh, Prayag, Phaphamau and Jhunsi stations. Maha Kumbh Mela Adhikari, <keyword id="20077268" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="vijay-kiran-anand" source="keywords">Vijay Kiran Anand</keyword> also directed the medical department to prepare a detailed SOP for station-wise medical arrangements and share it with the railways for quick communication. During Magh Mela, tickets will be available through the new system. This time, the work of issuing tickets under the new system will be done on Leader Road outside the passenger shelter, for which special arrangements are being made. Coloured stickers will be placed on the issued tickets as per the colour code of the holding area. Airport-like facilities be available for passengers at Prayagraj Junction, while smaller stations will also be upgraded. Retiring rooms and dormitories are now ready for the convenience of passengers at Prayagraj Sangam railway station. Likewise, entry into Prayagraj Junction (from the city side) will be closed once the passenger shelters are full. It will be controlled in a temporary hold up area like Khusrobagh.

 The latest fair, held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh visited by an estimated 130- 140 million people, set up records for largest crowd management, largest sanitation drive and largest painting exercise of public sites. The exercises were performed before a team a Guiness for four days, from February 28 to March 3. "Around 503 shuttle buses were pressed into service on the highway in one go for the team on February 28. Several people participated in a painting exercise on March 1 and 10,000 workers engaged in cleaning at the Kumbh, all performing their duties together," India’s Ministry of Culture said in a statement. On March 1, over 10,000 people engaged in cleaning and sanitation activities at the same on different venues, setting up a record for the "most people sweeping the floor.”

Some of the recommendations include: Ahmedabad to Ashtavakra Nagar, Firozabad to Amitshahnagar, Hajipur to Hastinapur, Jamalpur to Jaiminipur, and even Ghaziabad to Ghatotkachnagar. Apart from Justice Katju, Madras High Court and Chief Justice of Allahabad Delhi have also criticised the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government. Even Congress and the Samajwadi party are protesting the decision. Akhilesh Yadav, the state’s former Chief Minister, <a href="https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/india/akhilesh-yadav-slams-yogi-govt-over-proposed-move-to-rename-allahabad-as-prayagraj-3048451.html">slammed</a> the UP government stating that current political leaders only show their work only by renaming cities. In contrast, some media <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/allahabad-news/allahabad-is-now-prayagraj-says-uttar-pradesh-minister-siddharth-nath-singh-after-cabinet-meeting-1932852">reports</a> claim that Yogi Adityanath has given Allahabad its former name ‘Prayag’ back. Varanasi, Feb 25 (IANS) To prevent boat traffic jams on the <keyword id="129689" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ganga-river">Ganga river</keyword> in Varanasi, the district administration has decided to set up lane separators on the river. Divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal told reporters, "The Ganga, which was initially used for boating by pilgrims and tourists mainly for sightseeing, is now going to be used for the public transport also. The waterway for public transport system is being developed. "As the Ganga in Varanasi is also part of National Waterway-I on which movement of cargo vessels has started and cruise boats are being introduced, the number of various kinds of big and small motorized and manually operated boats is also increasing. Hence, ensuring safety to prevent accidents is the responsibility of the administration." The pattern of boat movement was observed after which the decision to introduce lane separators was taken, he added. Officials have been asked to consult the Prayagraj administration which had been using lane separators during the Kumbh Mela in 2019. The commissioner said, "Lanes will be separated to ensure cargo vessels, cruise, speed boats and traditional ones move in separate lanes and accidents are prevented. The lane separators will be placed by giving sufficient passages to boats crossing the river to reach the opposite bank." The role of river police will also increase with the beginning of water traffic regulation and floating picket points will also be a part of this project. The officials are also exploring the possibility of bringing floating bathing platforms near Ghats frequented by people. The floating platforms will have seating arrangement and changing rooms. People can reach the floating platforms for bathing by boats.
