Underlining the contribution of non-resident Indians, Union Finance Minister <keyword id="129243" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nirmala-sitharaman" source="Orion">Nirmala Sitharaman</keyword> on Tuesday said <keyword id="6369957" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="remittances" source="Orion">remittances</keyword> sent to the country by overseas Indians were about USD 100 billion for the year 2022, an increase of 12 per cent in one year. Speaking at a session during the <keyword id="70478" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pravasi-Bharatiya-Divas" source="Orion">Pravasi Bharatiya Divas</keyword> (PBD) convention in Madhya Pradesh's Indore city, she described NRIs as the "real ambassadors of India" and appealed to them to use made in India products and services as far as possible so that the country's individual brand can be promoted across the globe. Sitharaman also said that after the "China plus one" policy, the world is now talking about the "European Union (EU) plus one" policy. The government is strongly presenting India to multinational companies as a country where they can set up their factories apart from China and the EU, she said. Sitharaman said the <keyword id="6402673" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-diaspora" source="Orion">Indian diaspora</keyword> should also partner with small and big businessmen of the country so that the entrepreneurial skills of NRIs can be harnessed in the next 25 years during the 'Amrit Kaal' of independence. "I recognise that remittances, which come from abroad by Indians who migrated, are about 100 billion US dollars for the year 2022. This is one of the highest remittances which is coming," the finance minister said. This has gone up by 12 per cent if compared to 2021, she said. "Within a year which was post-pandemic, people thought Indian workers will not go back abroad again, they have not only gone back but more have gone for very useful employment and the remittance numbers have gone up by 12 pc within one year," she said. Citing the dominance of Indian professionals in information technology, digital technology, automobiles, semiconductor designing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and other fields, she said the country is becoming a global hub of knowledge and progress. "In the Amrit Kaal of independence, an aspirational India will focus on four "I" which include <keyword id="17408" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="infrastructure" source="Orion">infrastructure</keyword>, <keyword id="6355120" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="investment" source="Orion">investment</keyword>, innovation and inclusion," she said. <keyword id="6354504" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="reliance-jio" source="Orion">Reliance Jio</keyword> on Friday announced the launch of its <keyword id="764355" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="5g" source="Orion">5G</keyword> services in four more cities, namely Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ludhiana and Siliguri, taking the total number of cities with <keyword id="2003276" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="jio" source="Orion">Jio</keyword>'s 5G services to 72. The service provider said Jio True 5G was rolling out at a rapid pace and was the only 5G service to be present in majority of these cities, providing Jio users transformational benefits of technology. Jio in a statement said the launch strengthens Jio True 5G coverage in Madhya Pradesh, close to the unveiling of coveted events like Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Invest MP - Global Investor Summit at Indore. With it, Reliance Jio said it became the first and the only operator in Madhya Pradesh to launch 5G services across all large cities of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal and Indore. Jio is also the only operator to launch 5G services in Ludhiana, thereby rapidly strengthening its True 5G coverage in Punjab, which was launched last week, according to the statement. The company said its users in these cities would be invited to the Jio Welcome Offer, to experience unlimited data at more than 1 (gigabit per second) Gbps speeds, at no additional cost, starting from Friday. A Jio spokesperson said, "We are happy to announce the launch of Jio True 5G in four more cities. Jio is the operator of choice for users in Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Punjab and the most loved technology brand, and this launch is a testament to Jio's continued commitment to the people of these states." According to a company, Jio launched fifth-generation mobile system (5G) services Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi and Kolkata on October 4 this year while it was launched in Nathdwara and Chennai on October 22. It also mentioned the service provider launched 5G services in Bengaluru and Hyderabad on November 10 while it was launched in Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad on the following day. Pune had access to Jio 5G services on November 23 while 33 districts of Gujarat had the services on November 25. Ujjain temples in Madhya Pradesh had access to these services on December 14 while <keyword id="30469" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kochi" source="Orion">Kochi</keyword> and Guruvayur temple got Jio 5G services on December 20. Jio launched the service Tirumala, Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam and Guntur on December 26 while Lucknow, Trivandrum, Mysuru, Nashik, Aurangabad, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Zirakpur, <keyword id="6389505" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kharar" source="Orion">Kharar</keyword> and Derabassi on December 28. December 29 during last year witnessed Jio 5G launch in Bhopal and Indore while <keyword id="58537" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bhubaneshwar" source="Orion">Bhubaneshwar</keyword> and Cuttack saw Jio 5G services on January 5 in 2023.
