He also claimed to hold a Guinness World Record for being the youngest member of the <keyword id="4642107" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="royal-colleges-of-physicians">Royal Colleges of Physicians</keyword>, and was recently awarded the lifetime achievement award by President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword> during the 6th Dr Malati Allen Nobel Award in Kolkata. The fraud came to light after Dr <keyword id="3432206" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ayan-bhattacharya">Ayan Bhattacharya</keyword> (a post-graduate medicine student at the <keyword id="458270" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="All-India-Institute-of-Hygiene-and-Public-Health">All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health</keyword> in Kolkata) lodged a complaint with the Bantra police station in Howrah, saying that Subhendu was using his medical practice registration number and was running a private nursing home. ‘Guinness Record Holder’ doctor arrested in Bengal

<keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="80" keywordseo="India">India</keyword>'s military prowess and the country's diverse cultural heritage were on display at the 67th <keyword id="6416557" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Republic-day">Republic Day</keyword> parade on the magnificent Rajpath boulevard here on Tuesday at which visiting French President Francois Hollande was the chief guest. 
 
For the first time, a contingent from the French 35th Infantry Regiment was given the honour of leading the marching contingents and it performed with panache, preceded by a pipes and drums band and saluting in a rather unusual style with the hand held straight across the chest. 
 The celebrations began with Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> driving to the Amar Jawan Jyoti memorial to the Unknown Soldier at India Gate and laying a wreath in honour of the countless Indian soldiers who have died in battles since World War I. 
 Modi then drove up to the saluting base to receive President <keyword id="6359124" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Pranab-Mukherjee">Pranab Mukherjee</keyword> and President Francois Hollande. 
 
The President's Bodyguard presented the national salute, the tricolour was unfurled and the national anthem was played to set the tone for a rather poignant moment - the posthumous presentation of the Ashok Chakra, the country's highest gallantry award in peacetime. It was presented this year to the widow of Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami of the Parachute Regiment, who laid down his life while fighting terrorists in the Kashmir Valley last September. 
 
The emotion on Mukherjee's face was visible as he presented the medal and the citation to Goswami's widow. 
 
The French apart, there was much that was different this time around. The marching contingents were fewer, as were the massed bands. 
 
Then, instead of a marching continent of ex-servicemen, there was a tableau dedicated to them in the first part of the parade, an army dog squad with handlers made an appearance after 26 years, and the camel-mounted troopers of the Border Security Force made up the rear element of the parade's military element. 
 
In another break with tradition, the young recipients of the National Awards for Bravery came up towards the end, followed by the children's pageant, a daredevil motorcycle display by the Corps of Signals, and a grand flypast by fighters, heavy-lift transports and helicopters of the Indian Air Force. 
 Vice President <keyword id="6491214" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Hamid-Ansari">Hamid Ansari</keyword>, the three service chiefs, Congress president <keyword id="689" type="PERSON" weightage="80" keywordseo="Sonia-Gandhi">Sonia Gandhi</keyword>, cabinet ministers, a host of dignitaries and a group of women achievers seated in a special enclosure were on hand to witness the hour-and-half long parade.

India displays cultural heritage, military prowess on Republic Day

Mortal remains of late former Indian President <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=APJ+Abdul+Kalam">APJ Abdul Kalam</a> arrived at Palam Airport in New Delhi from Guwahati on Tuesday. 
 Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, <keyword id="6354814" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="prime-minister-Narendra-Modi">Prime Minister Narendra Modi</keyword>, along with Three Service Chiefs paid homage to Kalam. 
 
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal were also present. 
 
 
 
Public can pay homage to the late President from 3pm onwards at 10 Rajaji Marg in New Delhi. 
 
 
 
The last rites will take place at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. 
 
People from all walks of life took to social media and paid homage to the apolitical President. Kalam led the scientific team that developed missiles able to carry India's nuclear warheads. 
 
He became a national hero after helping oversee nuclear tests in 1998 that solidified India's status as a nuclear weapons state. India's first atomic test was in 1974. 
 
Meanwhile, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=smriti+irani">Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani</a> announced Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan to be renamed as APJ Abdul Kalam Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan. 
 
Telangana Government has announced holiday, whereas the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to work one hour extra to pay tribute to the late President. 
 
Kalam died on Monday (July 27) from a cardiac arrest at the age of 83. 
 
Kalam, popularly known as 'Missile Man', was delivering a lecture in Shillong when he collapsed and was rushed to Bethany Hospital.

President Pranab Mukherjee, PM Modi pay homage to Dr Kalam at Delhi airport

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=yakub+memon">Yakub Memon</a>, who was hanged in <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=nagpur+jail">Nagpur jail</a> on Thursday, was buried alongside his father’s tomb. 
 
His body was handed over to his family members in Mumbai. 
 
Memon, 1993 <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=mumbai+blasts">Mumbai blasts</a> convict, was hanged at 6.35 am after the Supreme Court dismissed his curative petition and <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=pranab+mukherjee">President Pranab Mukherjee</a> rejected his mercy petition on July 29. 
 
Hours before his hanging, Memon offered namaz and read the holy Quran and was provided with a fresh set of clothes. 
 
Nagpur’s Chief judicial magistrate M M Deshpande was present and she read out the operating part of the TADA court order which awarded capital punishment to Memon before he was made to stand on a stool and the lever pulled by the hangman. 
 
A team of doctors declared him dead and a post-mortem was conducted by a team from a Nagpur hospital. 
 
Ironically, Memon, who was a chartered accountant by profession, was hanged on his birthday. He turned 53 today. 
 
He had reacted with an angry outburst saying "innocent people are being called terrorists" when a TADA court here had pronounced him guilty on September 12, 2006. 
 
After hearing the verdict, he had said, "We do not want to engage lawyers to argue on quantum of sentence...13 years have passed and innocent people are being called terrorists." 
 
Blasts in Mumbai, then known as Bombay, in 1993 had killed 257 people and Memon was convicted as the "driving spirit" behind the serial blasts in India's financial capital.

The shares of Biocon ended 4% lower yesterday. Mahindra and Mahindra Mahindra and Mahindra (M&amp;M) extended the date of sale of its entire stake in Neo Solren to CLP India. The company said that due to COVID-19 the sale of stake is expected to be done by September, earlier August was the deadline set by the company. The shares of M&amp;M ended 4% lower yesterday. Punjab National Bank India’s second-largest lender Punjab National Bank hiked its repo-linked lending rate (RLLR) by 15 basis points (bps) to 6.80 per cent. 100 basis points make 1%. All new retail loans related to housing, education, vehicles and credit to MSMEs are linked to RLLR. The shares of PNB ended 6% lower yesterday. Bharat Earth Movers Ltd and Tata Power The Indian defence ministry sealed a deal with domestic defence majors to procure Pinaka rocket launchers for six Army regiments at the cost of ₹2,580 crore. The deal has been signed with Tata Power Company Ltd (TPCL) and engineering major Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) while defence public sector undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) will also be part of the project. The shares of BEML ended 8% lower yesterday, and Tata Power was down 4%. Shiv Sena may have shared power with ideologically-opposite Congress for the first time, but the saffron party is known to have cosied up with it before and posters with old pictures of bonhomie between their leaders Bal Thackeray and Indira Gandhi taken in the seventies were put up in different parts of the city. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray took oath Thursday evening at the historic Shivaji Park supported by the Congress and the NCP. Besides late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and former prime minister Indira Gandhi, NCP President Sharad Pawar also figured in the posters. Those aware of its past, the Shiv Sena, known for its firebrand Hindutva politics, seeking support of the Congress and the NCP does not come as a surprise. From backing Congress candidates in presidential polls to not fielding any contender against Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule to even tying up with ideologically opposite Muslim League, the Shiv Sena has had a history of flirting with 'frenemies'. In the assembly polls held last month, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena bagged 56, followed by the NCP (54) and the Congress (48) in the 288-member House. The Shiv Sena, founded by Bal Thackeray in 1966, in its more than five decades long journey has allied with the Congress, formally and informally. In its initial days, it was often supported directly or indirectly by many Congress leaders and its different factions. Noted political analyst Suhas Palshikar in an article in the Economic and Political Weekly writes that senior state Congress leader Ramrao Adik was present at the first ever Shiv Sena rally. Dhaval Kulkarni, the author of "The Cousins Thackeray-Uddhav and Raj and in the shadow of their Sena", said that in the 1960s and 70s, the party was mostly used by the Congress to counter influence of the Left on the labour unions in the city. The party in 1971 allied with Congress (O) and unsuccessfully fielded three candidates for Lok Sabha in Mumbai and the Konkan region. Thackeray backed the Emergency in 1977 and did not field any candidate for the Lok Sabha polls held in that year. "In 1977, it also backed Congress' Murli Deora in the mayoral polls," said Kulkarni. So much so that the party was also mocked as 'Vasantsena', the army of the then Vasantrao Naik who was the state chief minister from 1963 to 1974. Palshikar writes that in 1978, when attempts to ally with the Janata Party failed, the Shiv Sena allied with the Congress (I), the faction led by Indira Gandhi. It fielded 33 candidates for the assembly polls. All 33 lost in the anti-Indira wave. In one of the most unlikely alliances, the Sena also allied with the Muslim League. Veteran journalist Prakash Akolkar, in his book on Shiv Sena titled 'Jai Maharashtra', writes that for winning the Mumbai mayoral polls in the 1970s, Shiv Sena also allied with the Muslim League. For this, the Sena supremo also shared stage with Muslim League leader G M Banatwala at Mastan Talao in Nagpada in South Mumbai, Sena's first chief minister Manohar Joshi writes in his book 'Shiv Sena-Kal-Aaj-Udya' (Shiv Sena-Past-Present and Future). If it was used by the Congress to end the Left dominance on trade unions in Mumbai, the Sena allied with Madhu Dandavate's Praja Socialist Party in 1968. The bonhomie between the Congress and the Sena ended in the 80s after the death of Indira Gandhi and the ties between the two were not the same. The relations only deteriorated during the terms of Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and later Rahul Gandhi. Incidentally, Uddhav's son and Sena's Youth Wing chief Aditya Thackeray met Sonia on Wednesday to extend invitation to oath-taking ceremony. The mid-80's was also the time when the Sena tilted towards Hindutva and gravitated towards the BJP. The late 80s and 90s changed the character of the party which moved towards hardline Hindutuva. In the later years, the Shiv Sena, however, broke ranks from the BJP-led NDA and voted for Congress backed Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee in presidential polls. The equation between the Thackerays and the Pawars goes back to more than five decades both were fierce rivals separated by conflicting ideologies but thick friends in private life. Pawar often termed Thackeray as a large-hearted opponent. In his attacks, he would often call him 'maidyaacha pota' (sack of flour). Sharad Pawar in his autobiography 'On My Terms' writes that despite being fierce rivals, how he and his wife Pratibha would visit Matoshree for "gupshup" and dinner. He also recalls that when he was suffering from cancer in 2004, Bal Thackeray gave him a list of "several commandments" related to diet. In private, Pawar says, Thackeray addressed him as 'Sharadbabu'. In 2006, when Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule contested the Rajya Sabha polls, Thackeray did not field any candidate. "Sharadbabu, I have seen her (Sule) since she was a knee-high girl. This is a big step in her career. My party will make sure that she goes to Rajya Sabha unopposed," Pawar said quoting Thackeray's telephonic conversation with him. When Pawar asked about the BJP's opposition, the NCP President says the senior Thackeray told him, "Oh, you don't worry about Kamlabai (the BJP)". Incidentally, the NCP fielded a lightweight against Thackeray's grandson Aditya, who was the first in his family to enter electoral politics. He won by a margin of over 67,000 votes in the recent Assembly election.
