A famous part of MS DOS, the program that made Bill Gates, is finally being retired

It supports the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and the fifth generation iPod Touch.
It's one of the first game controllers made for iOS 7 and it costs $99. 
I tested over the past few days and here's what I liked and what I didn't like.
The set up process is very easy.
It doesn't require much effort to set up the PowerShell. All you have to do is slide the iPhone or iPod into the center of the controller. Although the device will be encased in the shell, you'll still be able to answer calls and have full access to your phone.
Some of the games make you feel like there is a Playstation in your pocket.
Once its locked securely in the dock, download games from the app store. Logitech <a href="http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/powershell-controller-and-battery">touts</a> console-style controls for the PowerShell and certain games certainly feel like your playing a miniature PlayStation. While gobbling up dots in multiple levels of Pacman, I felt like I had a classic 80's arcade game in the palm of my hands. The directional pad was responsive when helping Pacman find his way through the maze and the letter controls worked well for adjusting playing options such as turning up the sound. <a href="http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/microsite/powershell-game-list">Here's a full list of what you can play</a>.
Players will have long hours of gameplay.
At the top of the PowerShell, there is a small silver switch that activates the controller's powerful battery. If your iPhone or iPod battery gets low, turn on the PowerShell's battery. My iPhone 5S was fully charged in under an hour while I completed several levels of Fast &amp; Furious 6.
Now, here's what needs work.
The controls need some more improvements. While the directional pad worked well for some games, it was AWFUL for others. As I mentioned above, it responded well with PacMan but was extremely hard to use on some of the strategy games like Bastion. I had to push down multiple times in order to scroll through menus and keep my character moving in a straight line. If Logitech had wanted to make the definitive controller for iOS 7, they could have put some more effort into refining their controls.
Also, I don't recommend using an iPod in the PowerShell. In order to use headphones, you'll have to hook your headphones into a flimsy power adapter. It took me several tries to sync my headphones into the dongle and the sound quality wasn't great. You're better off muting the volume on your iPod. 
Conclusion
I thought the controller was good, not great. The gadget fits great in your pocket and was fun to use while I was on my train to work. But ultimately, I think there should have been more features to justify the $99 price.

Special software does not need to be installed on the controller and will not be limited to a small selection of games.

What OIN aims to do is protect Linux and other large open-source software projects from this kind of litigation, as well as help companies manage patent risks. So by joining the OIN, Microsoft is giving a big signal to the world of open source software that it's willing to play nicely - something that Microsoft acknowledges may be a little surprising, given the history."We know Microsoft's decision to join OIN may be viewed as surprising to some, as it is no secret that there has been friction in the past between Microsoft and the open source community over the issue of patents," Microsoft Deputy General Counsel Erich Andersen said in a <a href="https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/microsoft-joins-open-invention-network-to-help-protect-linux-and-open-source/">blog post</a>.  Just so that you know, the new ransomware, named as “WannaCry”, is a malware that encrypts contents on infected <keyword id="6354717" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Windows">Windows</keyword> systems and demands payment in bitcoins for amount ranging from $300 to $600 to release your data. It has already spread across over 100 countries affecting Hospitals in England, Interior Ministry in Russia, Germany train station, Fedex USA and Academic Institutes in China. And India is one of the key targets. Anand Ramamoorthy, Managing Director, India &amp; SAARC, McAfee says, “The <keyword id="6362093" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="wannacry">WannaCry</keyword> attacks is perhaps one of the largest and most widespread ransomware attack in recent history, with India being a prime target. There are a few lessons to take away from WannaCry, but making sure your operating system is up-to-date needs to be near the top of the list. The reason is simple: nearly every software update contains security improvements that help secure your computer and removes the means for ransomware variants to infect a device. 
 
3. Faith in Cloud 
 
Using cloud storage with anti-virus scanning abilities to share files will help users to mitigate any possible threats.” 
 And apart from these three key rules that will keep you safe from a <keyword id="108450" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cyber-attack">cyber attack</keyword> here’s a detailed list of best practices from CERT-In (National Nodal Agency for responding to computer security incidents) to prevent Ransomeware attacks. 
 
• Perform regular backups of all critical information to limit the impact of data or system loss and to help expedite the recovery process. Ideally, this data should be kept on a separate device, and backups should be stored offline. 
• Establish a Sender Policy Framework (SPF),Domain Message Authentication Reporting and Conformance (DMARC), and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) for your domain, which is an email validation system designed to prevent spam by detecting email spoofing by which most of the ransomware samples successfully reaches the corporate email boxes. 
• Don't open attachments in unsolicited e-mails, even if they come from people in your contact list, and never click on a URL contained in an unsolicited e-mail, even if the link seems benign. In cases of genuine URLs close out the e-mail and go to the organization's website directly through browser 
• Restrict execution of powershell /WSCRIPT in enterprise environment Ensure installation and use of the latest version (currently v5.0) of PowerShell, with enhanced logging enabled. script block logging, and transcription enabled. Send the associated logs to a centralized log repository for monitoring and analysis. 
• Application whitelisting/Strict implementation of Software Restriction Policies (SRP) to block binaries running from %APPDATA%, %PROGRAMDATA% and %TEMP% paths. Ransomware sample drops and executes generally from these locations. Enforce application whitelisting on all endpoint workstations. 
• Deploy web and email filters on the network. Configure these devices to scan for known bad domains, sources, and addresses; block these before receiving and downloading messages. Scan all emails, attachments, and downloads both on the host and at the mail gateway with a reputable antivirus solution. 
• Disable macros in Microsoft Office products. Some Office products allow for the disabling of macros that originate from outside of an organization and can provide a hybrid approach when the organization depends on the legitimate use of macros. For Windows, specific settings can block macros originating from the Internet from running. 
• Configure access controls including file, directory, and network share permissions with least privilege in mind. If a user only needs to read specific files, they should not have write access to those files, directories, or shares. 
• Maintain updated Antivirus software on all systems 
• Consider installing Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit, or similar host-level anti-exploitation tools. 
• Block the attachments of file types, exe|pif|tmp|url|vb|vbe|scr|reg|cer|pst|cmd|com|bat|dll|dat|hlp|hta|js|wsf 
• Regularly check the contents of backup files of databases for any unauthorized encrypted contents of data records or external elements, (backdoors /malicious scripts.) 
• Keep the operating system third party applications (MS office, browsers, browser Plugins) up-to-date with the latest patches. 
• Follow safe practices when browsing the web. Ensure the web browsers are secured enough with appropriate content controls. 
• Network segmentation and segregation into security zones - help protect sensitive information and critical services. Separate administrative network from business processes with physical controls and Virtual Local Area Networks. 
• Disable remote Desktop Connections, employ least-privileged accounts. 
• Ensure integrity of the codes /scripts being used in database, authentication and sensitive systems, Check regularly for the integrity of the information stored in the databases. 
• Restrict users' abilities (permissions) to install and run unwanted software applications. 
• Enable personal firewalls on workstations. 
• Implement strict External Device (USB drive) usage policy. 
• Employ data-at-rest and data-in-transit encryption. 
• Carry out vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) and information security audit of critical networks/systems, especially database servers from CERT-IN empaneled auditors. Repeat audits at regular intervals. 
• Individuals or organizations are not encouraged to pay the ransom, as this does not guarantee files will be released. Report such instances of fraud to CERT-In and Law Enforcement agencies

As far back as Bill Gates's "<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Letter_to_Hobbyists">Open Letter to Hobbyists</a>" in 1976, Microsoft has seen software as intellectual property and a commercial product to be sold. Linux, which uses the open source model by which anybody can view, modify, and contribute to the underlying source code, is the exact opposite of that model, and was considered a major threat to Microsoft Windows in the 1990s and 2000s.The new approach reflects of Microsoft's revamped priorities under CEO Satya Nadella, and an acknowledgment at how popular Linux has become in corporate data centers. Microsoft has to embrace Linux because that's what customers want, and it's done so across the company, even building on a custom <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-made-its-own-version-of-linux-2015-9">version of Linux</a> for a specialized purpose.But there's a new example that truly shows how far Microsoft has come: The company now has a VP of <keyword id="6356323" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Enterprise">Enterprise</keyword> Open Source. It was literally his job at Oracle to know what the competition was doing with open source, and still he was caught by surprise."I lived in an open source world," Coekaerts says. "If I'm not aware of it as a Linux person, I expect others won't be, either."Beyond just big-name open source releases like the .NET Core programming frameworks and the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-is-a-different-company-2016-5">Xamarin cross-platform development tools</a>, Coekaerts says that Microsoft employees are constantly using and contributing open source code. Now, his job is to spread the word and make sure that Microsoft stays a good citizen in the world of open source. <a href="http://searchengineland.com/report-mobile-to-drive-a-third-of-paid-search-clicks-by-year-end-148300">Mobile To Drive One-Third Of Paid Search Clicks By Year End</a> (Search Engine Land) Marin Software released a report called <a href="http://www.marinsoftware.com/resources/whitepapers/2013-mobile-advertising-report">The State of Mobile Search Advertising in the World</a>. The 2012 data is drawn from search campaigns conducted in 13 geographies including the U.S., UK, China, Europe and Australia.

Marin forecasts that mobile devices will drive a third of U.S. paid clicks by December 2013. The company says that as of December 2012, mobile devices accounted for 23.4 percent of all US paid-search clicks. Mobile also captured 18.4 percent of search budgets in December.

Marin found that paid search campaigns on smartphones and tablets delivered higher click-through rates (CTR) at a lower cost-per-click (CPC). However, overall, conversions were lower on mobile devices. Mobile users are becoming more addicted to Facebook, as 70 percent visit the site daily, in contrast to less than half of desktop-only users. What else are they doing? Sales of smartphones grew 38.3 percent over 2012, to reach 207.7 million units. But Samsung and Apple, the mobile industry’s big two ‘frenemies‘ dominate, accounted for a joint 46.4 percent in the final quarter of the year.
