Swiggy appoints 3 independent directors to its Board

As <keyword id="46431" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="India-Inc">India Inc</keyword> is aggressively trying to replace the Sir with Ma’am, thanks to the initiative to improve gender diversity at the top management level, four headhunting firms are together reporting nearly 100 live search mandates for women CXO-level executives. 
 
While MNCs were among the earliest to employ more women at the senior management levels, Indian companies are no exception now. As per a report by The Economic Times, Indian promoter driven organisations are on an aggressive bid to get high potential women talent at CXO level. "Initially, the whole push came after it became mandatory to have women directors on the board. But this process triggered thinking in this direction,” Anindita Banerjee, executive director at RGF Executive Search has told the financial daily. 
 Now this direction is definitely signalling a change! Companies like Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Hindustan Zinc Limited, <keyword id="106159" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Jindal-Steel">Jindal Steel</keyword> &amp; Power Limited and Schneider Electric have given mandates to search firms to hunt for potential female CXO talent. Jindal Steel is currently scouting for a woman candidate to head its finance department, director group-HR, <keyword id="211707" type="PERSON" weightage="60" keywordseo="Rajeev-Bhadauria">Rajeev Bhadauria</keyword> has informed the ET. 
 
This scenario is the same throughout the industry. "We will prefer more and more women when it comes to filling up positions with no compromise on merit," said Prince Augustin, Executive Vice-President - Group Human Capital &amp; Leadership Development at Mahindra &amp; Mahindra. 
 
Yet the red line seems to persist. Experts informed the ET, while demand goes up by 40%, success rate is only half of it. 
 
Forum for Women in Leadership (WILL) estimates that 8-10% of senior management leadership in India are women, compared to 22-25% in the US.

Goafest to be held in physical form between April 7-9

<ul><li>Bengaluru-based data provider Tracxn Technologies’ IPO opens next week from Monday October 10-12.</li><li>The IPO will be entirely an offer for sale (OFS) of 3.86 crore equity shares by promoters and investors.</li><li>Flipkart founders Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal will be offloading up to 12.63 lakh shares each.</li><li>While the company reported good business growth in the last three fiscal years, it’s still posting losses.</li></ul>Bengaluru-based data provider Tracxn Technologies is all set to launch its initial public offering (IPO) worth ₹309 crore next week from Monday October 10-12. Launched in 2015, Tracxn Technologies is a software as a service (SaaS) platform that has scanned over 66 crore web domains to profile 18.4 lakh companies. The company’s extensive global database provides a platform for customers to source and track companies across sectors and geographies as per their requirements. As of June this year, the company had 3,271 users across 1,139 customer accounts in over 58 countries. Its subscription-based platform, Tracxn offers customers private company data for deal sourcing, identifying merger and acquisition targets, deal diligence and analysis. It also tracks emerging themes across industries and markets. Analysts remain cautious of the losses and negative cash flow While the company has reported good business growth in the last three fiscal years, the operations are still loss making. Tracxn also reported a negative operating cash flow during FY19-21 period, except for FY22 (₹0.6 crore). More importantly, it’s one a kind and that means there is no peer company based on which it can be valued, as per analysts at Choice Broking. “At the higher price band, Tracxn is demanding an enterprise valuation/sales multiple of 12.3x, which seems to be stretched for a loss-making operation. Considering the high attrition rate in the IT-enabled sector and already double digit attrition level (49% in FY22 and 13.8% in Q1 FY23) of Tracxn, we are cautiously optimistic on the company’s efforts in bringing down employee costs,” said analysts at Choice Broking. Also, a partial/full exit by private equity investors raises concerns on the long term outlook, say analysts at Choice Broking which assigned an ‘avoid’ rating for the issue. The IPO will be entirely an offer for sale (OFS) of 3.86 crore equity shares by promoters and investors. Flipkart founders Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal will be offloading up to 12.63 lakh shares each. Delhivery founder Sahil Barua will sell 2.07 lakh shares, Freshworks’ Girish Mathrubootham will offload 2.96 lakh shares and Sequoia Capital India will sell up to 21.81 lakh equity shares as a part of the IPO. Former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata is among the angel investors backing the company. “Although the revenues have increased, EBITDA and PAT have been in negative for the past two years. <ul><li>Income tax bonanza for the salaried class and the government’s capital expenditure push have emerged as the stars of Budget 2023-24.</li><li>While the income tax exemptions are expected to increase disposable incomes of taxpayers and thereby boost demand, the capex push is aimed at promoting growth and increasing job opportunities, say experts.</li><li>The government also announced a slew of measures for the agriculture and green energy sectors, promoting the use of technology to boost output and transition to green energy.</li></ul>An upward revision in income tax slabs and a continued push on capital expenditure investments emerged as the key highlights of the Union Budget 2023-24. While the revised tax slabs under the new tax regime will benefit the middle-class and salaried individuals, the government also announced a 33% increase in its capital investment outlay for FY24 to boost growth and promote job creation. “We are steering an ambitious people-centric agenda to address global challenges and to facilitate sustainable economic development,” finance minister Nirmala <keyword id="679937" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="sitharaman" source="Orion">Sitharaman</keyword> said, announcing the budget. Despite an increase in capital expenditure outlay, the government has continued on its path of fiscal consolidation. Sitharaman said that while the government will meet the fiscal deficit target of 6.4% in FY23, it has been reduced to 5.9% in FY24, and further below 4.5% in FY 25-26. Sitharaman also announced that the gross borrowings are estimated at ₹15.43 lakh crore in FY24, lower than the Economic Survey 2023 estimate of ₹15.77 lakh crore. “This budget is a Bahubali budget. With one arrow multiple targets are shot. Fiscal prudence is achieved with lower deficit and path set till FY26. Consumption is supported through tax cuts. Investment outlay is enhanced. Further, the tax exemption limit for leave encashment has been raised from ₹3 lakh to ₹25 lakh. Lastly, the new income tax regime will be applicable by default going forward. However, assessees will have an option to opt out and file their returns under the old regime. “More money in the hands of the middle class will have a cascading effect across the economy which needs this push as we continue to depend on domestic demand to beat the global uncertainty,” Sanjeev Krishan, chairperson, PwC in India. Capital expenditure outlay gets a major boost: In a bid to promote growth and job creation, the government has announced a 33% increase in capital expenditure outlay to ₹10 lakh crore for FY24, or about 3.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP). The capex outlay for FY23 is estimated at ₹7.5 lakh crore. Sitharaman outlined that infrastructure is one of the seven priorities of the government, which is now backed by the 33% increase in capex outlay for this segment. Overall, the government’s capex outlay has increased over three-fold from ₹3.1 lakh crore in FY19 to ₹10 lakh crore in FY24. The government announced an allocation of ₹2.7 lakh crore for roadways and ₹2.4 lakh crore for railways. “A 33% increase in capital expenditure to ₹10 lakh crore, the highest ever, will go a long way in building roads, ports, and airports — crucial for making India a reliable investment destination. Investment of ₹2.4 lakh crore in railways is commendable,” said Anand Rathi, founder and chairman, Anand Rathi Group. Apart from this, Sitharaman also announced an outlay of ₹10,000 crore per annum to develop urban infrastructure. The government has also announced a 66% increase in funding for the PM Awaas Yojana to ₹79,000 crore in FY24, which will benefit engineering, production and construction companies. Further detailing the infrastructure push, Sitharaman said that the government has identified 100 critical transport infrastructure projects for steel, ports, fertilizers and other sectors with an investment outlay of ₹75,000 crore, which includes a private sector investment of ₹15,000 crore. Agri Accelerator Fund to encourage innovation: In a bid to promote the adoption of technology in the agriculture sector, the government announced a new Agri Accelerator Fund to promote agri-tech startups in rural areas, with a cluster-based and value chain approach through public-private partnerships. “The proposal to set up an Agri Accelerator Fund for agri-tech startups is a welcome move, and was much anticipated. Agri-tech startups who are focusing on improving the market reach for agricultural products and produce, as well as last mile delivery of products to farmers should benefit from this move,” said Raj Ramachandran, partner, JSA. Sitharaman also announced a slew of measures for the agriculture sector, which are: <ul><li>Increase in agriculture credit target to ₹20 lakh crore, with a special focus on animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries.</li><li>A new sub-scheme of PM Matsya Sampada Yojana with a targeted investment of ₹6,000 crore to further enable activities of fishermen and fish vendors.</li><li>Computerisation of 63,000 primary agricultural credit societies with an investment outlay of ₹2,516 crore.</li></ul>Green energy ambitions get a boost: The government also announced a slew of measures to encourage and promote green energy in India, including ₹35,000 crore priority capital for transition from fossil fuels to green energy. Of this, the specific outlay for National Hydrogen Mission has been set at ₹19,700 crore. The government has set a target of 5 million metric tonnes of hydrogen production capacity by 2030. Key players in the hydrogen space are Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. The tax exemptions under the new regime will increase the disposable income in the hands of taxpayers, according to ICICI Securities, helping boost demand. “In keeping with its focus on inclusive growth, the Union Budget has hiked outlays on infrastructure and agriculture which in our view would have a force multiplier impact on the economy,” said S Ranganathan, head of research at LKP Securities. According to economists, the reduction in fiscal deficit targets for FY24 through FY26 will also offer relief for bond markets, with the 10-year bond yield projected to moderate to 7-7.1% in FY24, according to Abheek Barua, chief economist, HDFC Bank. Here’s a look at all the startups that have crossed the valuation mark so far in 2019. Rivigo The latest startup to join the unicorn club is logistics startup Rivigo. The logistics sector had long been in the limelight after Delhivery turned unicorn. After this, both Rivigo and Blackbuck raised funds, heating up the race to being a unicorn. Now, Rivigo has managed to be a unicorn after it raised $4.9 million from South Korea's KB Platform Fund. After the deal closed, it is valued at $1.05 billion. Delhivery In March this year, Delhivery became 2019’s first unicorn. This was after the logistics tech startup raised $395 million from SoftBank. After its funding in March, it’s valued at $1.6 billion. The logistics solutions company was founded by Sahil Barua, Mohit Tandon, Suraj Saharan, Kapil Bharti and Bhavesh Manglani. They created a stronghold in the market by partnering with e-commerce majors like Flipkart and Paytm amongst others. Big Basket The grocery retail startup became a unicorn in March 2019. Bigbasket closed its Series F round of funding with an investment of $150 million, which valued it at $2.3 billion. The funding was led by Bigbasket’s earlier investor Alibaba, along with a new investor – Mirae Asset. The grocery sector which is now buzzing with new entrants like Swiggy. Grofers too turned its finances around, and has recently turned a soonicorn after the latest round of funding in May 2019. Ola Electric Ola’s subsidiary Ola Electric also turned a unicorn like its parent company. Its growth has also been fast as most of Ola’s existing investors placed their bets on the company. In July, it became a unicorn after raising $250 million from Softbank. In May, Ola Electric also raised funds from former Vodafone Group CEO Arun Sarin. Some of its other illustrious investors include Chairman Emeritus of Tata Group, Ratan Tata. In March, it had raised ₹4 billion from Ola’s existing and early investors – Tiger Global and Matrix India. Dream 11 India’s first gaming unicorn is Dream11, a fantasy gaming startup. It announced a secondary investment from Steadview Capital, an Asia-focused alternative asset manager in April 2011 which gave brought it its unicorn status. The 11-year old startup had a dream run in 2019, after signing up with IPL and the BCCI as its official partners. The cricket world cup along with IPL helped it clock in stellar numbers. In an interview with Business Insider, one of its founders Bhavin Sheth said that the startup hopes to hit 100 million users by the end of the year. Icertis In July 2019, India and US-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform Icertis became a unicorn. It raised $115 million in funding from Azim Premji’s Premji Invest and US-based VC firm Greycroft. The company, which offers contract management, has 5.7 million contracts across 90 countries. Some of its are Adobe, Airtel, Cognizant, Infosys, and Microsoft. Druva The Indo-US startup Druva entered the unicorn club in June 2019. The cloud data protection startup raised $130 million in a round that was led by Viking Global Investors. It also saw participation from funds like Neuberger Berman and Atreides Management. Existing investors Riverwood Capital, Tenaya Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners too participated in the round. Druva is a SaaS (Software as a Service) startup which was founded by Jaspreet Singh and Milind Borate in 2008. Its patented cloud architecture enables cyber governance, improves cyber resiliency, and helps customers gain critical insights. Citius Tech The healthtech company was a lesser known startup which gained unicorn status. The company provides healthcare solutions, using technologies like business intelligence, mobility and IoT, Big Data, cloud computing, predictive analytics and data science. The company was acquired by Baring Private Equity Asia in July 2019, which gave it a valuation of $1 billion.

<keyword id="6360722" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="ratan-tata">Ratan Tata</keyword>, Chairman Emeritus of <keyword id="46894" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tata-Sons">Tata Sons</keyword>, has recently invested an undisclosed amount in <keyword id="2779670" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tracxn">Tracxn</keyword>, the Bengaluru-based startup intelligence platform. 
 
With this development,Tracxn has joined the list of almost two dozen startups and tech companies that Tata has backed in the past two years, including Snapdeal, Ola Cabs, Paytm, Urbanladder, Xiaomi, UrbanClap and DogSpot. 
 
He is also involved with venture capital firms like Kalaari Capital, IDG Ventures India and Jungle Ventures in the capacity of an advisor. 
Talking of Tracxn, it has raised angel funding from Flipkart's co-founders Sachin and Binny Bansal, Delhivery's CEO Sahil Barua and $3.5 million in series-A funding from SAIF Partners. 
 
The company was founded in 2013 by former venture capital investors Neha Singh (ex-Sequoia Capital) and Abhishek Goyal (ex-Accel Partners), and tracks over 100 sectors including enterprise infrastructure, enterprise applications, technology, consumer, mobile, digital marketing, health, education. 
 <keyword id="2928014" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tracxn-Labs">Tracxn Labs</keyword>, an angel invest fund, and <keyword id="3401467" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tracxn-Syndicate">Tracxn Syndicate</keyword>, an angel investment group are also run by Tracxn, putting it in competition with Let's Venture, which is another fundraising platform that has been backed by Tata. 
 
In its clientele, Tracxn boasts of venture capital funds, private equity firms and corporate development teams who use the services provided by the company it to spot investment, merger and strategic partnership opportunities in different sectors. Some of these names include Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, SoftBank, Google Capital, VMWare, GE and LG. 
 
In the past one year, Tracxn has increased its number of analysts assigned to exclusively tracking startups from 25 to 125. The client base has also seen a 400% increase to over 300 customers across 20 countries in the past 12 months. 
 
"Ratan Tata is a trusted household name &amp; his way of building things has played a critical role in how our thoughts shaped up in early days of our lives," Goyal told ET. "As we rapidly expand across geographies, his unconventional ways of building large companies with high diversity will be very useful," he continued.
