While the highest stipend came from an FMCG company at ₹2.5 lakh. </li><li>The highest number of offers were made for sales &amp; marketing roles followed by finance, operations, analytics, and HR.</li></ul>Indian Institute of Management Udaipur concluded its summer placements offering internship opportunities to 283 management students. The average stipend of ₹85,060 for two months is a 37% increase from last year. This includes both domestic and international internships. At <keyword id="349500" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IIM-Udaipur">IIM Udaipur</keyword>, 31 students bagged international offers — a massive 138% increase compared to last year. The highest stipend came from an FMCG company, at ₹2.5 lakh. “IIM Udaipur is committed to offering a transformational learning experience to our students. Our strong placement record is a demonstration of the trust that the corporates have placed in our high academic standards,” said Professor Janat Shah, director at IIM Udaipur. As many as 77 companies — including 39 first time recruiters — visited the campus this year to hire interns. This includes multinationals such as Baker Hughes, Edelweiss, Ernst &amp; Young, Gartner and the Royal Bank of Scotland. The students also bagged summer placements for investment banking roles at Goldman Sachs. The increasing demand indicates how the recruiters are now banking on internships and training to assess potential candidates. The highest number of offers were made for sales and marketing roles followed by finance, operations, analytics, and HR. Management graduates from top business schools such as Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode also saw a rise in the number of internships and average stipend as compared to last year. Management Development Institute, Gurgaon saw a 10% rise in average stipend at ₹231,000 for two-months. The stipend at IIM Kozhikode however saw a sight dip to ₹168,000 compared to 171,000 last year at. Overall, it has been a good year for India’s B-school pass outs. An IIM Udaipur student receives a summer job that pays ₹2.5 lakh

The summer is here and so is the time to take that one long <keyword id="20984" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vacation">vacation</keyword> in the year. But with so many long weekends coming up every now and then, travelling can burn a hole in the pocket. However, with the budget segment ramping up its services, you may just want to consider them as well. 
 “There are a lot of people who want to travel. But with frequent long weekend trips, money becomes a major problem. People are looking at affordable accommodation when they travel to a place. On an average, a traveler spends a minimum of Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per day while travelling,” said Sharat Dhall, president of online travel portal <keyword id="143718" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yatra-com">Yatra.com</keyword>. 
 He further added that while more people are also considering <keyword id="507551" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="budget-hotels">budget hotels</keyword>, there is still apprehension amongst them as they are not sure of the quality of services that will be offered. 
 
According to market reports, the budget hotel segment is picking up in cities such as Bangalore and Pune. “Over the past decade, the Pune hotel sector has emerged a formidable competitor to other the hospitality markets in the country, growing from a negligible base of branded hotel rooms in 2005 into becoming one of India’s top five hotel markets in 2014. Over the course, it has weathered multiple storms ranging from significant supply increases to multiple bouts of economic uncertainty, both globally and regionally,” said Mandeep Lamba, managing director of Hotels at JLL India. 
 
He explained, “While the Bangalore hotel market today accounts for the largest share of branded economy hotel rooms in the country, Pune comes in a close second with nearly 1,050 branded economy rooms.” 
 Apart from Bangalore and Pune, if you plan to visit the backwaters of Kerala, then do check out the budget hotels in Alleppey. According to <keyword id="1612098" type="POSITION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Trip-Advisor">Trip Advisor</keyword>, <keyword id="2807178" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bamboo-Lagoon-Backwaters">Bamboo Lagoon Backwaters</keyword> Front Resort is also one of the great budget hotel options in the city. Similarly, if you want to visit Havelock Islands in the Great Andamans, you will find several nice budget hotels at great prices that are sea facing and offers the calmness that you want away from the busy city life. 
 
While this may be the story down South, in the western region such as Sawai Madhopur, Jaipur, Udaipur or even the Great Rann of Kutchh, a traveler can find some great hotels at a reasonable price. 
 Up in the hills, there are plenty of hotels that offer decent services. Dharmshala, Nanital, Manali, Mussoorie among other have slew of budget hotels that a person can pick from. In the east, places such as <keyword id="83680" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Gangtok">Gangtok</keyword>, Darjeeling, Puri in Odisha too have many budget hotels that are known for offering good services at great prices. 
 
Interestingly, with Indians becoming avid travellers, budget hotels are realising that they have a large market to tap onto. Besides, firms such as OYO Rooms too have come up that are now upgrading the services offered to a customer in a budget hotel, thus revamping the tainted image of this segment of hotels.

It was the long weekend everyone dreams of, but one that rarely comes true. Except, in my case it did. 
 
The Indian festival of Dussehra fell on Thursday, 22nd October. It was a national holiday. 
 
Luckily, for me- so was Friday. And, the two glorious days after that. 
 
The enormity of the opportunity at hand didn’t quite hit me until Thursday morning itself. You could blame it on my laziness or the fact that when you work with a news organization, you start expecting less and less holidays. 
 
But, this was an exception. And, I increasingly became determined to make the most of it. 
 
As minutes passed, my mind grappled with the possible options. And, there were many (One good part about living in Delhi is its proximity to hill stations). 
 
Unfortunately, what I didn’t have on my side was a generous helping of time and funds. A budget trip will have to suffice, I told myself. 
But there arose more questions. 
 
Mussorie? Dharamshala? Nainital? Landsdowne? Rishikesh? 
 
Aided by my internet connection, I checked out accommodation at these places and worked out the logistics in my head. The numbers clearly weren’t in my favour. 
 
And, then I stumbled onto what I thought was the discovery of the day.

After two days of camping at their Rishikesh address which was brimming with (young) people and activity, a mere two weeks after opening its doors, I’ll tell you this- It’s time to ditch the hotels. 
 
The idea is simple- to make your stay affordable without compromising on the quality. And, boy do they live up to that promise! 
 
 
 
At the moment, Zostel is present in 10 locations in India, apart from having its vase in Veitnam as well.

Not one to ignore the needs of girls who’re wary of sleeping next to the opposite sex, Zostel also has an option where one can share a bed in a girls only dormitory which comprises four spots. The moolah you need to shell out for this? Rs 400 only. 
 
If you’re imagining it as a seedy, unkempt place because of how cheap it is, think no further- you couldn’t be far from the truth. 
Zostel not only boasts of exemplary cleanliness, the entire space is done up in bright colours and has enough books, beanbags and games to keep you hooked. 
 
 
 
Additionally, it also has a lit up terrace and a hangout area replete with mattresses, cushions, a carom board and a TV. Relax your evening away!

With superb panoramas of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges from all directions, it is hard not to fall for Manali's evergreen charm. However, with a massive influx of tourists, most of whom have little regard for the environment, the city and most places around have garbage blemishing both the riverside and the mountainside. But the true magic of the place powers through and despite these eyesores, a quick pan up to see the mountains in their majestic glory compensates for the heartache the litter causes. That said, there are plenty of brilliant treks that take you to tiny brooks amidst conifer-clad valleys in and around Manali should you wish some time away from the manic crowds. The thrill-seekers out there also have a plethora of adventure sports activities to choose from, including paragliding, trekking and rafting. But do note that these activities are weather dependent, so it's best to check in advance. In general, rafting takes place all year round excluding the monsoon periods. The months of May, June and September are supposed to be the best time for paragliding. Skiing opens in Solang Valley soon after the first snowfall in January and continues till March. Other popular tourist spots in Manali include the Hadimba Temple dedicated to Bhima's demon wife. Sporting a multi-tiered pagoda, the temple is set amidst towering deodars, and the complex also has a shrine dedicated to their son Ghatotkacha. <div type="image" title="Old Manali" msid="82002929" hostid="261"></div>Apart from a very chill atmosphere, Old Manali also hosts the age-old Manu Temple dedicated to the sage Manu who penned the Manusmriti. This epic drive involves crossing the newly-constructed <keyword id="8486907" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="atal-tunnel">Atal Tunnel</keyword> and gasping with disbelief when you see what's in store at the end of the tunnel. The terrain is nothing short of magic. The snowy mountain peaks, the river accompanying it on one side, countered by barren -- but just as majestic -- mountainscapes, on the other. The drive to Keylong should take around 2 hours, from Manali. You can also venture further to Udaipur (3 hours from Manali), a town on Chandrabhaga River bank in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. But remember that since this is a day trip, you should account for the time it will take to get back. Also, there are not many places to stop for grub or the toilet apart from a few loosely-termed 'hotels' splattered along the way. <div type="image" title="Welcomheritage Urvashi Retreat" msid="82003009" hostid="261"></div>Places to stay From budget no-frills hotels to spectacular heritage properties, the town has a place for everyone. The property is secluded from the hustle and bustle and the staff is delightful and eagerly tell you about the best places to visit nearby. Travel and food writer, Pallavi Pasricha, tells us, "I always make it a point to visit Johnson's Cafe to have their legendary trout. On my last trip, I discovered two new places – Il Forno which has excellent pizzas and Rocky's Café, a 10-minute walk from the Old Manali market – both have stunning views of the mountains. Sipping a beer from there will now always be on my agenda whenever I visit Manali next." Old Manali also has the Dylan's Toasted &amp; Roasted Coffee House, where you can soak in the laid-back atmosphere while sipping on excellent coffee accompanied by hot-out-of-the-oven cookies. Another well-known pub in Old Manali is The Lazy Dog. The riverside outdoor seating area here is the perfect place to wind down with a glass of hot toddy and snacks. It's a place for people who are looking to detox -- digitally, physically and mentally." Mountains, rivers, trout and toddy — Manali offers you all these and more

New Delhi, Mar 12 () Hospitality chains across India, such as domestic majors Indian Hotels Company and EIH and global firms like Hyatt, are taking a slew of measures, including checking temperature of guests and staff, and undertaking additional hygiene procedures to control the spread of coronavirus. "In light of the current situation, we have implemented additional precautionary hygiene measures across our hotels based on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare advisory and guidelines for prevention and transmission," an IHCL spokesperson said in a statement. This includes training associates as per the protocol prescribed by the Government of India, sanitisation of all areas, increased access to alcohol-based hand sanitizers at prominent locations and body temperature checks for everyone visiting our premises using non-invasive laser thermometers, it added. "As mandated, we are notifying local authorities on travellers coming from affected countries," IHCL said. Stating that its guests and colleagues are well with no symptoms of COVID-19, EIH that runs the hotels and resorts under the Oberoi and Trident brands said it has implemented a guest check-in declaration form at all hotels. This form identifies guests who have travelled to any of the high-risk countries in the past 14 days or have symptoms associated to the virus. "The temperature of each guest is being checked and recorded at the time of check-in. If any of the parameters are not normal, the guest is being requested for a medical examination before completing check-in formalities," EIH said in a statement. For hotels located in remote locations or with little to no non-resident business, entry to the hotel is being restricted to hotel guests, it added. "In our hotels located in key cities across the country, non-resident guests are being requested for their temperature readings before entry," the statement said. Thermal imaging cameras are being procured to monitor the temperatures of each person entering the hotel premises. This should be in place in the next few days in hotels located in key cities across the country, it added. Corporate office colleagues have all been advised to work from home to the extent possible. The colleagues have also been requested to stay at home under self-isolation for a period of 14 days if they show signs of any of the symptoms or have come in contact with someone from a high-risk country, the statement said. At Trident Udaipur, 83 employees are undergoing self-isolation for a period of 14 days as a precautionary measure, it added. Emphasising that it is taking all measures to safety and well-being of its guests and employees, a Hyatt spokesperson said, "We have introduced comprehensive COVID-19 guidance across Hyatt hotels globally, detailing how to protect against transmission of the virus including implementing hand sanitizer stations and frequent cleaning of high-touch areas, and procedures in case there is a suspected or confirmed case among our guests or colleagues." In addition, cross-functional, global response teams, including infectious diseases and occupational health experts, provide guidance to our hotels and help address specific situations, if needed, the statement added. "All precautionary procedures and protocols are in line with the recommendations made by the World Health Organization, US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and local authorities in each country," the spokesperson said.
