New Delhi, Nov 19 () Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved on Tuesday said it has achieved a revenue of Rs 3,562 crore in April-September 2019-20, the highest ever in the first half of any financial year.
The Haridwar-based firm has reported a revenue of Rs 1,793 crore in April-June and Rs 1,769 crore in July-September in the ongoing fiscal, a company official said. 
"This is the figure of the Patanjali Ayurved and does not indicate of all business. We have done internal reconstruction and some of the product lines, which were earlier handled by the company have been assigned to different companies," he said.
 The company had reported a revenue of Rs 937 crore and Rs 1,576 crore in June quarter and September quarter of 2018-19, respectively. 
"The most remarkable and noticeable thing is that Patanjali Ayurved has made a comeback. It has achieved the highest ever H1 figure in its history," Patanjali spokesperson S K Tijarawala told .
However, the company did not share the net profit figure.
"In 2018-19, Patanjali Ayurved had alone reported a revenue of Rs 8,329 crore," he said, adding that the group's turnover was much higher than this figure.
On the outlook for the second half of 2019-20, Tijarawala said: "It would be almost double of what we have in H1."
During the last fiscal, he said the company achieved a revenue of Rs 2,388 crore in the third quarter and Rs 3,698 crore in the last quarter.
Patanjali has consolidated and strengthened the supply chain, he said, adding that the group has come out from the negative impact of GST and demonetisation.
"It took us some time to align with the GST system," he added.
Patanjali Ayurved is mainly into FMCG business and its Ayurvedic medicines.
The company's biscuit, noodles, dairy businesses as well as solar panel and apparel businesses are not part of Patanjali Ayurved. KRH ANU

We would have to hike prices or decrease quality to get in. That is not a part of our policy. We may try with some categories, but not all.”

"They are in talks with us to take industrial land to set up a factory and institutional land to set up a university. Once they decide, they will apply for allotment of land," YEIDA Chief Executive Arun Vir Singh told ET. 
 
Presently, Patanjali has only one manufacturing facility, which is near Haridwar in northern Uttarakhand state, and is spread over around 150 acres. 
 
Patanjali Ayurved’s sales rose by 64% to Rs 731 crore within six months that ended December 31, 2015. 
 
Patanjali Ayurved's provisional turnover in the first 10 months of FY16 was Rs 3,266.97 crore, compared with Rs 1,587.51 crore in the same period in the previous year, as per credit ratings firm Brickwork Ratings.

Patanjali says it is considering to bid for the title sponsorship of the upcoming Indian Premier League

New Delhi, Mar 30 () Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved on Monday announced a contribution of Rs 25 crore and setting up of five quarantine centres with a total capacity of 1,500 beds across the country to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The camps would be set up in Haridwar (Uttrakhand), Sadhupul (Himachal Pradesh), Modinagar (UP), Kolkata (West Bengal) and Guwahati (Assam). Besides, the employees of Patanjali Ayurved, Patanjali Dairy and Ruchi Soya (the company acquired recently) and other group companies would also donate one-day salary in the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM-CARES Fund), according to a statement by the company. "Yogi Ramdev has announced contribution of Rs 25 crore in the Prime Minister's relief fund," said the statement. It also said that Rs 1.50 crore from salary of staff of Patanjali Ayurved, Patanjali Dairy and Ruchi Soya will be contributed to the fund. It would also work in research for finding solution to the pandemic, it said. "Our volunteers and followers would will also render medical and health assistance in fight against COVID-19," it added. According to the latest updates from the health ministry, the total number of coronavirus positive cases touched 1,071 and death toll stood at 29. Patanjali Ayurved has <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Patanjali-is-taking-over-the-entire-Ayurveda-industry/articleshow/51453997.cms">left behind several established names </a>in the industry after its inception a decade ago, and now plans to raise funds through bank term loans or corporate bonds. It is now looking forward to doubling its production capacity to 2,000 tonnes a day by the end of 2016-17. 
 
"Whoever gives us cheap money, we will go for it as <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Patanjali-is-taking-over-the-entire-Ayurveda-industry/articleshow/51453997.cms">we are expanding fast</a>," Balkrishna said. "More banks are coming to us with their offers while a few merchant bankers too contacted us with fundraising proposals via bond sales. We are exploring all options," he said.

New Delhi, Dec 18 () Yoga guru <keyword id="6355107" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Baba-Ramdev">Baba Ramdev</keyword>'s <keyword id="6406649" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Patanjali-Ayurved">Patanjali Ayurved</keyword> on Wednesday made its first big acquisition when it paid Rs 4,350 crore to take over soya food brand Nutrela-maker Ruchi Soya through an insolvency process. The acquisition will help Patanjali acquire edible oil plants as also soyabean oil brands such as Mahakosh and Ruchi Gold. Sources said Patanjali settled Rs 4,350 crore of dues Ruchi Soya had towards financial creditors by infusing Rs 1,100 crore equity and arranging another Rs 3,250 crore via debt.
 The acquisition of Ruchi Soya by Patanjali Ayurveda has been completed, sources said, adding that the amount has been transferred to an escrow account and disbursals to financial creditors are in process.
 When contacted, Patanjali Ayurveda spokesperson S K Tijarewala said: "We have completed all the formalities and the entire amount of debt and equity has been deposited. Now, officially Ruchi Soya has become Patanjali group firm."
 In December 2017, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) ordered start of insolvency proceedings against Ruchi Soya on application of Standard Chartered Bank and DBS Bank. Shailendra Ajmera, part of consultancy firm EY, was appointed as resolution professional (RP).
 Ruchi Soya is the second big insolvency case to be completed this week. World's largest steel maker ArcelorMittal together with Japan's Nippon Steel on Monday completed the acquisition of Essar Steel for Rs 42,000 crore.
 Both the companies were taken to insolvency court over unpaid dues of lenders. Their bankruptcy proceedings had been pending for two years. Their resolution will help lenders such as State Bank of India clear a good part of bad loans, sources said.
 Japyee Infratech, which built the country's first road expressway that is wide enough to land fighter jets during emergency, is also headed towards resolution with lenders on Tuesday accepting the offer of state-owned NBCC Ltd. The deal is slated to close in coming months.
 In April 2019, Patanjali Ayurved had received approval of financial creditors to acquire Ruchi Soya. The NCLT gave its nod to the resolution plan in early September.
 But later, the Singapore-based DBS Bank became a dissenting creditor and approached the NCLAT challenging the distribution of proceeds from the bid submitted by Patanjali Ayurveda.
 Earlier, Ruchi Soya had informed in a regulatory filing that resolution applicant Patanjali group will infuse Rs 204.75 crore as equity and Rs 3,233.36 crore as debt.
 The amount will be infused in a special purpose vehicle 'Patanjali Consortium Adhigrahan Pvt Ltd', which will be later amalgamated with Ruchi Soya.
 Another Rs 900 crore would be infused by the Patanjali group through subscription of non-convertible debentures and preference shares in the SPV. It will also provide credit guarantee of nearly Rs 12 crore.
 Out of the Rs 4,350 crore offered by Patanjali group, Rs 4,235 crore would be utilised to pay creditors while Rs 115 crore would be used for capital expenditure and working capital requirements of Ruchi Soya.
 As per the filing, Rs 4,053.19 crore would be paid to secured financial creditors, Rs 40 crore to unsecured financial creditors, Rs 90 crore to operational creditors, Rs 25 crore to clear statutory dues, Rs 14.92 crore to workmen/employees and Rs 11.89 crore to provide counter bank guarantee.
 Patanjali won the bid to acquire Ruchi Soya after Adani Wilmar, which sells edible oil under the Fortune brand, withdrew from the race citing significant delays in resolution process that led to deterioration of assets.

Patanjali Ayurved completes acquisition of bankrupt Ruchi Soya for ₹4,350 crore

<keyword id="6406649" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Patanjali-Ayurved">Patanjali Ayurved</keyword>, promoted by yoga guru <keyword id="6369109" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ramdev">Ramdev</keyword>, may announce an investment of Rs 1,600 crore shortly for setting up a herbal food park in Noida in the poll-bound <keyword id="6357713" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Uttar-Pradesh">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> to meet its domestic as well as global demand. 
 "It is almost finalised now. You may see an announcement by <keyword id="6356684" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="patanjali">Patanjali</keyword> Ayurved for an investment of around Rs 1,600 crore in Noida for setting up a food processing plant around <keyword id="188" type="ENTERTAINMENT" weightage="20" keywordseo="Diwali">Diwali</keyword>," a senior UP government official privy to the development told <keyword id="6367495" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="PTI">PTI</keyword>. 
 
"As far as investments in the state are concerned, the Uttar Pradesh government is fair and transparent for promoting industrialisation which will create jobs." 
 
There were speculations that Patanjali will announce its investment in Uttar Pradesh after the assembly polls in March next year. However, the company officials have also confirmed the development, saying the procedure for identification of the land is at an advanced stage and the unit can be near <keyword id="6359591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yamuna-Expressway">Yamuna expressway</keyword>. 
 
A Patanjali Ayurved official told the news agency, "It would be an international food park, which would be for exports and domestic markets as well." 
 He further said Patanjali CEO <keyword id="669583" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Acharya-Balkrishna">Acharya Balkrishna</keyword> has held meetings with the CEO of <keyword id="80359" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yamuna-Expressway-Industrial-Development-Authority">Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority</keyword> (YEIDA) in this regard. 
 
"The state bureaucracy is also involved in this project under the instructions of the chief minister of UP. It would be a major investment boost for UP and employment generation," he added. 
 
Asked how soon Patanjali could start manufacturing at the proposed plant, the official said: "We would make the unit operational within 12-18 months of allotment of land." 
 He added: "The food park will manufacture all major products. As it is located in the <keyword id="53426" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NCR">NCR</keyword> region, which has proximity to the airport and dry ports, it will act as a hub." 
 
When the plant runs to its full capacity, it would have a capacity to produce goods worth Rs 25,000 crore annually, the official claimed, adding that around 10,000 direct jobs could be provided benefiting 50,000 families. 
 Patanjali is also in the process of setting units in <keyword id="6355554" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madhya-Pradesh">Madhya Pradesh</keyword>, <keyword id="6354915" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Assam">Assam</keyword>, Maharashtra and <keyword id="6357972" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Jammu">Jammu</keyword> and <keyword id="6354495" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kashmir">Kashmir</keyword>, besides another plant in the drought-hit area of <keyword id="6368366" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Bundelkhand">Bundelkhand</keyword> region of UP. 
 
"For Bundelkhand regional plant, we are discussing for the special package and incentive with the state government. We are working on that," the company official said.

​ Patanjali’s food park of Rs 1,600 crore would come up at Noida

New Delhi, Nov 29 () Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved on Friday said it has already tied up loan worth Rs 3,200 crore from a consortium of lenders led by State Bank of India to fund its acquisition of Ruchi Soya through insolvency process.
 In September, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the resolution plan of Patanjali Ayurved to acquire debt-laden Ruchi Soya.
 "The company has already secured required total debt from a consortium of banks led by State Bank of India," Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna said in a statement.
 Patanjali also said it has got loans of Rs 1,200 crore from SBI, Rs 700 crore from Punjab National Bank, Rs 600 crore from Union Bank of India, Rs 400 crore from Syndicate Bank and Rs 300 crore from Allahabad Bank.
 Ruchi Soya went into the insolvency in December 2017.
 NCLT had admitted the insolvency plea filed by two lead financial creditors Standard Chartered Bank and DBS Bank. However, later, Singapore-based DBS Bank became dissenting creditor and approached the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal challenging the distribution of proceeds from the bid submitted by Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurveda.
 Ruchi Soya told the NCLT that resolution applicant Patanjali group will infuse Rs 204.75 crore as equity and Rs 3,233.36 crore as debt.
 The amounts will be infused into a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Patanjali Consortium Adhigrahan Pvt Ltd, which will be later amalgamated with Ruchi Soya.
 Another Rs 900 crore will be infused by the Patanjali group through subscription of non-convertible debentures and preference shares in the SPV. It will also provide a credit guarantee of nearly Rs 12 crore.
 On April 30 this year, a committee of creditors had approved Patanjali group's Rs 4,350 crore resolution plan to take over Ruchi Soya. Lenders will have to take a haircut of around 60 per cent.

The <keyword id="19895345" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Supreme-Court" source="keywords">Supreme Court</keyword>, on Tuesday, granted one-week time to yoga guru <keyword id="20055079" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ramdev" source="keywords">Ramdev</keyword>, his aide <keyword id="21172332" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Balkrishna" source="keywords">Balkrishna</keyword> and <keyword id="20083247" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Patanjali-Ayurved" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Patanjali Ayurved" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Patanjali Ayurved">Patanjali Ayurved</keyword> to issue a <keyword id="114576" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="public-apology" source="Orion">public apology</keyword> in the misleading advertisements case, but said it was not letting them "<keyword id="2308348" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="off-the-hook" source="Orion">off the hook</keyword>" now. Both Ramdev and Balkrishna were present during the hearing and personally tendered an unqualified apology to the apex court. A bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah took note of their apologies, but made it clear that at this stage it has not decided to "let them off the hook". "You are doing good work but you can't degrade allopathy," the bench told Balkrishna while interacting with him. Ramdev, who also interacted with the bench, said he had no intention to show disrespect to the court in any manner. However, the bench told Balkrishna that they (<keyword id="6356684" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="patanjali" source="Orion">Patanjali</keyword>) are not so innocent that they didn't know what the top court had said in its earlier orders in the case. "I am willing to give a public apology," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Ramdev and Balkrishna, told the bench at the outset. The apex court asked Ramdev and Balkrishna, both of whom were present in the court, to come forward for an interaction with the bench. "They should feel they have a connect with the court," the bench said. The apex court has now posted the matter for further hearing on April 23. Ramdev and Balkrishna had last week tendered an "unconditional and unqualified apology" before the top court over advertisements issued by the firm making tall claims about the medicinal efficacy of its products. In two separate affidavits filed in the court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have tendered an unqualified apology for the "breach of the statement" recorded in the November 21 last year order of the apex court. In the November 21, 2023 order, the top court had noted that counsel representing Patanjali Ayurved had assured it that "henceforth there shall not be any violation of any law(s), especially relating to advertising or branding of products manufactured and marketed by it and, further, that no casual statements claiming medicinal efficacy or against any system of medicine will be released to the media in any form". The top court had said Patanjali Ayurved Ltd is "bound down to such assurance". The non-observance of the specific assurance and the subsequent media statements irked the apex court, which later issued a notice to them to explain why contempt proceedings be not initiated against them.

Reportedly, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/baba-ramdev-defeats-olympic-medalist-during-wrestling-bout-by-12-0/articleshow/56663841.cms">Ramdev</a> is all set to mark Patanjali’s debut in <keyword id="1334" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="China">China</keyword>, and would find support in government's 'Act East' policy, as per which government aims to do business with countries in India’s east. 
 
A production unit of Patanjali Ayurved will be set up in Sahibganj, a district in Jharkhand, which as per central government’s plans, will become a multi-modal hub having direct links with the neighbouring East-Asian countries using roads, waterways and air.

Ramdev plans to export Patanjali products to neighbour China

The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=toothpaste+industry&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">oral care segment</a> is witnessing a battle over toothpaste like never before. In a bid to counter <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=patanjali&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Baba Ramdev Patanjali’s</a> herbal toothpaste-‘Dant Kanti’- <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=colgate&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Colgate</a>-Palmolive is launching an Ayurved toothpaste-Cibaca Vedshakti. 
 Although <keyword id="73802" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Colgate">Colgate</keyword> has a variety of toothpaste in herbal segment, <keyword id="3532303" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="cibaca-vedshakti">Cibaca Vedshakti</keyword> will be the first one in Ayurvedic segment. 
 "In India, the consumer believes strongly in natural ingredients. A toothpaste launching this quarter under the Cibaca sub-brand is Colgate Cibaca Vedshakti," said Bina Thompson, senior vice-president at <keyword id="80626" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Colgate-Palmolive">Colgate-Palmolive</keyword>, during an investor call. 
 
Nowadays, consumers are opting for more herbal products due to which the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ayurveda&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ayurved</a> and natural products now account for 13-14 per cent of the overall toothpaste market. 
 Following Cibaca Vedshakti’s news, <keyword id="6356684" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="patanjali">Patanjali</keyword> said the name chosen by Colgate was inappropriate. 
 
"We worship and respect Vedas like our gods, we don't use them in our products. This is not a toothpaste but a direct attack on our culture," Acharya Balkrishna, MD of Patanjali Ayurved, told ET. 
 
As per Nielsen’s data, Patanjali's oral care market share has been pegged at nearly 2 per cent in the year ended March. 
 
Meanwhile, analysts expect Colgate will be able to fight back against local competition despite being a late mover. 
 
Colgate's Cibaca Vedshakti will be priced at Rs 50 for a 175 gram pack, which is around 30 per cent cheaper than Dant Kanti.
