Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who worked with Parvez in the National Award winning 2013 drama "Shahid", said the action director was extremely skilful with his work. "Just heard that action director Parvez Khan is no more. We had worked together in Shahid where he executed the riots sequence in a single take. Very skilful, energetic and a good man. RIP Parvez. Your voice still rings in my ears," Hansal tweeted. Parvez started his career by assisting action director Akbar Bakshi in films like Akshay Kumar's "Khiladi" (1992), Shah Rukh Khan's "Baazigar" (1993) and Bobby Deol-starrer "Soldier" in 1998. It was with Ram Gopal Varma's "Ab Tak Chhappan" in 2004 that he started working independently and went on to have a long-standing collaboration with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan in films like "Johnny Gaddaar" (2007), Saif Ali Khan-starrer "Agent Vinod" in 2012 and "Badlapur", featuring Varun Dhawan. The patent was filed in June this year with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and it documents a smartphone that is like a regular smartphone when folded, but it can unfold into the tablet. Interestingly, this foldable device uses a hinge-less mechanism to fold and unfold. The folding process will be powered by a telescoping system that does require hinges and can prevent the creases that form with regular uses of these foldable devices. The folding would be similar to that in Samsung’s foldable phones, Z-fold, and it will not require an additional front display as the top screen automatically converts into the front display. Although the renders are based on the patent, Vivo might not launch a device exactly similar or even close to the product render. However, Vivo may use some of the technologies from the patents to launch its devices in the future. The virtual keyboard may be a concept that Vivo wants to deploy on its future tablets and regular smartphones. Vivo’s new patent hints at a hinge-less foldable phone with a laser projection keyboard

With the further easing of coronavirus-induced curbs in Maharashtra, some salons opened in Mumbai on Sunday after a gap of three months while many remained closed due to lack of manpower. The parlours and salons falling under the COVID-19 containment zones did not open. Salon owners, who opened their shops for restarting business, said they were adhering to the government's guidelines like checking temperatures of their customers, asking them to use hand sanitisers before entering the premises, and serving customers in small batches. Some, however, complained of low turnout, saying people were scared of availing salon services. The Maharashtra government earlier said salons and beauty parlours will be allowed to reopen from Sunday with restricted entry and <keyword id="9371558" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="prior-appointments">prior appointments</keyword> for customers. A revised set of guidelines, issued as part of the government's 'Mission Begin Again' phase four, said only <keyword id="9478230" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="select-services">select services</keyword> like hair cut and dyeing, waxing and threading will be allowed as of now in these outlets. <keyword id="3540366" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Shailesh-Surve">Shailesh Surve</keyword>, owner of 'Make Over' salon in Worli, said they opened their facility but were allowing customers in small batches. "We are taking three customers each in time slots from 10 am to noon, 12 noon to 3 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. Customers are approaching us for appointments, but we are not allowing everybody as we have to follow the government's norms," he said. Surve said they were recording the temperature of customers and providing them hand sanitisers on entering the premises. "We are using fresh towels for every customer and sanitising chairs used for haircuts. I opened my shop today at around 8 am and got a good response on the first day. We were sitting at home since the last three months, but now we can earn," he said. However, Irshad Khan, owner of a salon in suburban Santacruz, said he opened his outlet after three months but did not get the same response as he used to get on a Sunday earlier. "There was low turnout today...people are scared, hence they are avoiding visit to salon," he said. Parvez Ansari, a salon owner from <keyword id="6369995" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bandra-kurla-complex">Bandra-Kurla Complex</keyword> (BKC), said he did not open his facility due to lack of staff. "I have to keep my shop shut till my staff members do not return from their native places," he said. The state government in its notification on Thursday said skin-related services will not be allowed at present and this should be prominently displayed outside shops. "Employees must put protective gear, including gloves, aprons and masks. All workspace (chairs) must be sanitised after each service. Also, all common areas and floors must be sanitised after every two hours," it said. Disposal towels and napkins must be used on customers, while non-disposal equipment should be sanitised and sterilised after each service, the government order said. Each shop must put up a notice listing precautions for customers, the notification said. A day after the infamous don <keyword id="6398539" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chhota-Rajan">Chhota Rajan</keyword> was arrested in Bali, officials told TOI that intelligence agencies used him to counter fugitive gangster <keyword id="6357714" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Dawood-Ibrahim">Dawood Ibrahim</keyword>. The <keyword id="6364687" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Intelligence-Bureau">Intelligence Bureau</keyword> and particularly the Research Analysis Wing (RAW), have in the past used Rajan against Dawood. 

	In 2005, the agency had reportedly sent two Rajan aides - Vicky Malhotra and the late Farid Tanasha- to eliminate Dawood in Karachi.
 

	Rajan was instrumental in eliminating certain ISI and Dawood aides, including Nepal MLA Dilshad Mirza Baig, ISI mastermind Khalid Masood, Parvez Tanda in Nepal- all with the help of Indian intelligence. There were unconfirmed reports that Rajan was involved in the killing of Takiuddin Wahid Khan of East-West Airlines, suspected to be close to Dawood. He also allegedly planned the killing of Nepal cable operator Jamim Shah, another D-Company aide.
 

	Senior police officials said Rajan always tried to portray himself as "a patriotic Hindu don" after his split from Dawood following the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai.

<a class="cite">PESHAWAR</a>, <a class="cite">Pakistan</a> (<keyword id="76338" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Reuters">Reuters</keyword>) - Frustrated with the government's inability to help him, a man in <a class="cite">Pakistan</a> has appealed to <a class="cite">Taliban</a> warlords to rescue his 11-year-old son kidnapped by criminals more than a month ago.
"I knocked on the door of each and every government official but no one gave me justice to recover my only son," Fareed Khan told Reuters in the volatile northwestern city of <a class="cite">Peshawar</a>.
"Now the <a class="cite">Taliban</a> are my last hope. I believe they will recover my son. The <a class="cite">Taliban</a> are good Muslims and good human beings. They don't demand bribes for the provision of justice."
Most people in <a class="cite">Pakistan</a>'s insurgency-plagued northwestern regions live in fear of <a class="cite">Taliban</a> insurgents who stage frequent attacks against security forces and civilians as part of their campaign to topple central government and impose Islamist rule.
Khan, 45, said he had no other choice in his quest to rescue his son, <a class="cite">Furqan Fareed</a>, who was kidnapped on November 5 in the city of <a class="cite">Bannu</a>.
<a class="cite">Bannu</a> is near North Waziristan, an ethnic Pashtun region on the Afghan border where many <a class="cite">al-Qaeda</a>-linked<a class="cite">Taliban</a> fighters are based. State security forces have next to no presence there.
Government officials were not available for comment.
Khan said his son suffered from epilepsy and feared that he might die. He added: "Now my wife, my three daughters and I publicly appeal to the Pakistani <a class="cite">Taliban</a> to recover my son."

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif broke ground on the $9.59 billion project last month but officials have provided few details of how they plan to finance it.
Financing documents seen by Reuters showed China National Nuclear Cooperation (CNNC) has promised to grant a loan of at least $6.5 billion to finance the project which will have two reactors with a capacity of 1,100 megawatts each.
Two members of the government's energy team and three sources close to the deal confirmed this. CNNC was not available for comment.
"China has complete confidence in Pakistan's capacity to run a nuclear power plant with all checks in place," said Ansar Parvez, chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission which runs the civilian nuclear program.
Parvez declined to give more details of the funding but said it would be completed by 2019 and each of the two reactors would be larger than the combined power of all nuclear reactors now operating in Pakistan.
As part of the deal, China has also waived a $250,000 insurance premium on the loan, said two sources in the Energy Ministry with knowledge of the project. They declined to be identified as they are not authorized to speak to the media about the financing.
Pakistan and China, both nuclear-armed nations, consider each other close friends and their ties have been underpinned by common wariness of India and a desire to hedge against U.S. influence in South Asia.
Pakistan sees nuclear energy as key to its efforts to solve power shortages that have crippled its economy. Pakistan generates about 11,000 MW of power while total demand is about 15,000 MW.
Blackouts lasting more than half a day in some areas have infuriated many Pakistanis and sparked violent protests, undermining an economy already beset by high unemployment, widespread poverty, crime and sectarian and insurgent violence.
Under its long-term energy plan, Pakistan hopes to produce more than 40,000 MW of electricity through nuclear plants by 2050.
The United States sealed a nuclear supply deal with India in 2008, irking both China and Pakistan.
Pakistan wants a similar agreement with the United States but it is reluctant, largely because Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan admitted in 2004 to transferring nuclear secrets to North Korea, Iran and Iraq.
"There should be no double standards in terms of civilian nuclear deals," Parvez said. "Pakistan has energy needs and the building of two new reactors should convince everyone that India's embargos and restrictions won't stop us."
<h3>PROLIFERATION FEARS</h3>
Pakistan carried out its first nuclear tests in 1998, soon after India conducted tests. Both refuse to join the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, which would oblige them to scrap atomic weapons.
China has already helped supply two nuclear reactors at the Chashma nuclear power complex in Pakistan's Punjab region, while another two are also under construction with Chinese assistance.
China's nuclear cooperation with Pakistan has caused unease in Washington, Delhi and other capitals due to fears about commitment to nuclear non-proliferation rules.
China says its nuclear ties with Pakistan are entirely peaceful and come under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards. It has not given details of the project's financing but state media has put its total value at $9.59 billion.
"Bilateral cooperation in the energy sector is to help ameliorate Pakistan's energy shortages," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Monday. "This accords with the interests of the Pakistani people."
Three prominent physicists recently raised questions about the safety, design and cost of the new reactors inKarachi, sparking a national debate.
"There is no official information about preparedness for a nuclear accident in Karachi that is available publicly," said Zia Mian, a Pakistani-American physicist who directs the Project on Peace and Security in South Asia atPrinceton University.
"The only real obstacle that may exist to the new reactors being built is if the citizens of Karachi decide they do not want to live with the risks these reactors create."
But Pakistan's new energy minister has dismissed the critics.
"Every 1,000 megawatts of electricity produced through nuclear energy saves you $1 billion in oil imports,"Khawaja Asif, the minister for water and power, told Reuters.
"If critics can give me alternatives and other platforms to raise money for low-cost, clean power, I'm willing to listen."
