Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested Rakesh Kumar Mishra (30) from Darbhanga in Bihar for allegedly making calls to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital here in the last two days, threatening to blow up the hospital and kill Ambani, his wife Nita and sons Akash and Anant. The caller had also threatened to blow up Antilia, the famous south Mumbai residence of the Ambani family on Altamount Road in South Mumbai . According of the city police, this is the second instance of Ambani family getting threats on the hospital landline number. On August 15 this year, the hospital had received at least nine calls threatening the Reliance Industries chairman and his family members, said an official. <keyword id="15181308" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="bishnu-vidu-bhoumik" source="Orion">Bishnu Vidu Bhoumik</keyword> (56) was arrested in connection with the calls. Mumbai is divided into 12 police zones and the city police are authorised to collect a fine of ₹200 from people not wearing masks, as mandated under COVID-19 norms. To make both ends meet, Sagar started working in call centres.  Soon after he formed a team with his school mates and started a call centre. They had all the data from previous organizations they have worked for. They would blackmail these US citizens and earns money. Each day they were earning Rs 150 crores. 
 The modus operandi, according to Thane Police Commissioner <keyword id="6414617" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Param-Bir-Singh">Param Bir Singh</keyword>, was simple. The caller would begin the conversation telling the listener the badge number and name of the <keyword id="6359816" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="IRS">IRS</keyword> official. They would threaten the Americans saying if they didn’t pay up, then the police would raid their home in the next half hour. Investigations showed the calls were made through Voice Over Internet Protocol (<keyword id="54765" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="VoIP">VoIP</keyword>). The accused had spoofed the toll number of IRS. So when the victim received a call, <keyword id="224849" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Internal-Revenue-Services">Internal Revenue Services</keyword> would flash on their phone. Most victims paid between $500 (Rs 30,000) to $60,000 (Rs 4o lakhs). 
 Sagar’s ambition to become rich and his fantasy for luxury knew no bounds. He owns a Audi TT, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti and some more luxury cars in his stable. He would come to office in chauffeur driven cars surrounded by body guards. On one occasion, he gifted his girlfriend an <keyword id="529178" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Audi-R8">Audi R8</keyword> priced at around Rs 2 crores.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigns, says NCP minister Nawab Malik

Mumbai, Jun 27 () Buildings in congested areas and slums of north Mumbai will be sealed considering the rise in COVID-19 cases here in the last 15 days, Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh said. During a visit to north Mumbai on Friday, the city top cop attributed the spread of coronavirus infection to the high population density here. North Mumbai, which includes Dahisar, Borivali, Malad, Charkop and Kandivali areas, has seen a sharp rise in cases in the last 15 days. Singh took stock of the COVID-19 count and precautionary measures taken by the police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to contain the viral spread. Several cases have been reported from buildings located in slums and other high-density places, he said, adding that the police were sealing such structures and the results of these measures will be seen in the next few days. The city currently has 750 containment zones, of which 300 are located in north Mumbai alone, Singh said. Apart from this, the police have identified 27 hotspots and a strict lockdown has been enforced in these areas, he said. People should follow social distancing norms to break the chain of the spread and should wear masks, use sanitisers if they step out of their homes for any urgent work, Singh said. BARC pauses weekly television ratings of all news channels for three months following TRP controversy

Mumbai, Jun 18 () Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday called for a simple and low-key Ganpati festival celebration this year in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, and asked Ganesh mandals to undertake social welfare programmes. Thackeray said the threat of coronavirus is not yet over and therefore, it will not be possible to celebrate the Ganesh festival with the usual pomp and gaiety. He said there should be no crowding or processions during the festival. The 10-day festival begins on 'Ganesh Chaturthi', which falls on August 22 this year. Ganeshotsav is the most popular festival in Maharashtra. The pandals set up by various mandals in Mumbai and other places in the state attract thousands of devotees during the 10-day festivities. During a video conference with various Ganesh mandals on Thursday, Thackeray asked them to set an example before the world about celebrating the festival in a simple way while keeping in mind their social responsibility. The meeting was held to discuss law and order strategies during the Ganpati festival. But what it surely will do is provide clarity between legit ventures and fraudulent ones. Cryptocurrencies have never been considered to be a <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/why-is-the-cryptocurrency-market-so-volatile-expert-take">‘stable’</a> financial asset, but add fraud into the mix and things can get really complicated. The cryptocurrency racket Amit Lakhanpal, in collusion with four other people, launched a cryptocurrency called Money Trade Coin (MTC) at an Initial Coin Offering (<keyword id="236078" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="ICO">ICO</keyword>) in <keyword id="6354539" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dubai">Dubai</keyword>. An ICO, in its essence, is similar to an Initial Public Offering (IPO) when a company goes public. MTC was initially valued at $3 (₹200) when it launched in 2017 with Lakhanpal <a href="https://news.bitcoin.com/police-forces-bust-alleged-new-age-cryptocurrency-scam-in-india/">allegedly</a> promising investors a 20-fold return on their buy-in within six months according to Param Bir Singh, the police commissioner in Thane. Soon enough, he raised the value of MTC to $6,000 (₹401,472). Cumulatively, with 2,500 people in the mix, that amounts to ₹5 billion. But, there was no way for them to sell any of the cryptocurrency or even make limited withdrawals. So, basically, people made an investment but couldn’t get to their returns, or even the principal amount. In fact, the scam only caught the attention of the authorities when a businessman and his colleagues finally complained that they could no longer get a response from the company with respect to their investments. According to the police, it was easy for Lakhanpal to get away with the scheme due to the portfolio he had created for himself, including a fake degree from an international university. Apparently, he launched a magazine that highlighted ‘inspirational quotes’ and images of famous celebrities as well as a book on cryptocurrency, which added to his profile. The <keyword id="6354335" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="reserve-bank-of-india">Reserve Bank of India</keyword> (RBI) may be <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/indian-cryptocurrency-exchanges-looking-for-leeway-from-rbi/articleshow/64453526.cms">imposing</a> a blanket ban on cryptocurrency exchanges, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the people won’t participate if the opportunity were to present itself. That being said, the uncertainty and <a href="https://factordaily.com/cryptocurrency-last-legal-stand-in-india/">lack of clarity</a> on where the government of <keyword id="3658" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="India">India</keyword> stands on the issue creates a problem. It’s not about whether to invest or not, but rather about whether or not it will create more of a controversy if its reported, for the victims.
