This is to please their new-age customers who are well aware of new styles rolling in, and want them at stores quickly. If the Kumar Mangalam Birla-led fashion company would indeed get on-board the strategy, they would be the second Indian fashion retailer to follow the path cleared by an international brand, Zara. The Amancio Ortega-led fashion brand <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-23/zara-s-indian-partner-is-building-its-own-cheaper-fashion-chain">is known for its ultra quick</a> execution where it brings popular runaway styles into stores, within weeks. The Tata Group-owned Trent is also streamlining its processes to bring popular Instagram styles into stores in 12 days. <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-23/zara-s-indian-partner-is-building-its-own-cheaper-fashion-chain">Trent has 40 stores of its flagship chain Westside</a>, which was also a former partner of Zara. Fashion changes every second This strategy bodes well with millennial heavy Indian consumers, who have re-defined the way old and new is perceived. Madhura Fashion says that its consumers expect new styles every month. This trend has seeped into smaller towns as aspirations spread along with telecom connectivity. The Tatas and Birlas of India copy Zara’s strategy of fast fashion

New Delhi, Jan 24 () Capital markets regulator Sebi on Friday disposed of a case of alleged insider trading in the scrip of Pantaloon Retail India Ltd (PRIL) against an individual.
 The firm is now known as Future Enterprises Ltd.
 Abhishek Jalan was alleged to have violated Prohibition of Insider Trading norms by allegedly trading on NSE in the scrip of PRIL DVR in the futures segment while in possession of unpublished price sensitive information on account of him being part of the senior management of the firm.
 However, the regulator, from the submissions of Jalan, noted that he had placed a sell order through a web based application provided by his broker and mistakenly selected PRIL futures instead of futures of GMR Infrastructure Ltd.
 Upon realising his mistake, he bought the same quantity of PRIL futures on market price to square off the futures position with a time lapse of around 3 minutes.
 Besides, he incurred a net loss of Rs 350 on account of the transactions.
 The regulator thus disposed of the proceedings against Abhishek Jalan.
 In a separate order, Sebi dismissed the proceedings against three entities -- Manjusha Lodha, ABL Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Surinder Singh Kadyan -- for alleged irregularities while dealing in scrip of Indiabulls Integrated Services Ltd, formerly known as SORIL Holdings and Ventures Ltd.
 Allegations of disclosure lapses were levelled against Lodha and ABL Infrastructure with respect to change in their shareholding in the firm. 
 Surinder Singh Kadyan was alleged to have violated insider trading norms. However, Sebi disposed of the proceedings considering their submissions. SRS

Sebi disposes of insider trading case against individual in Pantaloon Retail India scrip

<keyword id="2836195" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla-Fashion-and-Retail-Ltd">Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="3360476" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ABFRL">ABFRL</keyword>) today said that it has signed an exclusive deal which would bring popular London-based designer brand Simon Carter to India. Simon Carter’s exclusive stores will be launched across three top metros of India, viz. Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. 
 
"This deal was part of our strategic intent to grow our international portfolio and this new relationship with Simon Carter will bring London's high fashion to the Indian market," stated Pranab Barua, Aditya Birla Group Business Head, Apparel &amp; Retail Business. 
 
"The brand will offer complete ensemble solutions ranging from formal wear to casual wear," Barua said. 
 
On this, Carter said, "We have worked together for a number of years and they are perfectly placed to use their expertise and resources to bring my brand to the Indian customer." 
 
Simon Carter began his career in 1985 with a wholesale business, and now retails his collections in 40 countries across the globe, including Liberty, Bloomingdales USA, Seibu Japan, Brown Thomas Ireland, and David Jones Australia.

Simon Carter is finally coming to India, thanks to the Aditya Birla group

Fast growth is easier to achieve in sectors driven by innovation. While most companies opt for well-established strategies to turn their businesses into high-profit venture with a larger market share, Indian multinational conglomerate the <keyword id="44373" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla-Group">Aditya Birla Group</keyword> plans to expand its business using a four-way restructuring strategy. 
 According to an Economic Times report, the <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Group’s new restructuring strategy would bring its retail business under <keyword id="2799722" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pantaloon-Fashion">Pantaloon Fashion</keyword> &amp; Retail (PFRL). The Mumbai-headquartered company also plans to offer a maximum of 10% equity stake to an investor in the consolidated entity. 
 According to the financial daily, the company has sought informal guidance from the <keyword id="155823" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Securities-Exchange-Board-of-India">Securities Exchange Board of India</keyword> (<keyword id="35210" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="sebi">SEBI</keyword>) on the efficacy of the proposed merger through a letter dated December 24, 2014. 
 In order to secure $500 million to fuel its expansion plans in a growing <keyword id="34412" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="economy">economy</keyword>, the $30-billion telecom-to-retail group is planning to sell its stake in the consolidated retail business, and is discussing the same with L Capital, Temasek and IFC. 
 
Requesting anonymity, senior Birla group officials told ET: Owing to differences over valuations with investors, the restructuring plan has not made much headway. 
 
Soon after the Aditya Birla Group announced that it plans to bring retail business under Pantaloon through a share-swap deal, stocks of Pantaloon Fashion and Aditya Birla Nuvo registered a rise. 
 
The ET revealed that the deal is proposed to be carried out through four transactions. 
 Initially, <keyword id="598939" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madura-Fashion">Madura Fashion</keyword> &amp; Lifestyle will be demerged from Aditya Birla Nuvo (<keyword id="193651" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ABNL">ABNL</keyword>), the listed company, which holds 58.3% in Madura Fashion, and merged into PFRL, the financial daily stated. 
 As per a copy of the proposal submitted to the SEBI, PFRL will then issue equity shares to shareholders of ABNL, which holds 58.3% stake in Madura Fashion. This will later lead to the demerger of the retail business of <keyword id="2799982" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Madura-Garments-Lifestyle-Retail-Company">Madura Garments Lifestyle Retail Company</keyword> into PFRL. In return, PFRL will issue shares to ABNL. 
 
The business daily also reported that unlisted Aditya Birla Retail will be demerged into PFRL. In consideration for this, the Indian premium clothing retailer will issue equity shares to Aditya Birla Retail. The ET further added that the transaction will be completed when each investor will be offered at the most 10% of the expanded capital of the consolidated company via a preferential allotment of equity shares.

​Know how Aditya Birla Group will drive its business growth

WS Retail, the largest seller on India's biggest online marketplace <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, nearly tripled its turnover to Rs 10,163 crore in FY15. It is more than the combined sales of top brick-and-mortal retailers such as Shoppers Stop, Future Lifestyle, Tata's Trent and <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Group's Pantaloons. 

	According to industry experts, these numbers offer a sneak peek into Flipkart's likely performance for the year given WS Retail's dominant position on the e-commerce website. 
 The six-year-old company was set up by Flipkart's founders <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword> and Binny Bansal because India doesn't allow foreign-backed e-commerce companies to sell directly to consumers. WS Retail was selling nearly 80% of its merchandise to Flipkart but seeing that regulators were not happy with existing government legislation, the Bansals sold their stake to former OnMobile Global COO Rajeev Kuchhal and a clutch of investors three years ago. Their contribution has since declined from 80% to 30% and Flipkart is aiming to more than triple its third-party sellers by the end of this year to reduce its dependence on WS Retail and convert itself into a full-fledged marketplace like <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. 

	"Flipkart has been reducing its dependence on WS Retail in its effort to simplify its business structure. It is expected that such a step and simultaneous addition of new vendors on its website directly shall automatically reduce the trading volume of WS Retail over time," Rakesh Nangia, founder and managing partner at tax and transaction advisory firm Nangia &amp; Co, told ET.
 

	In fact a few months ago, Flipkart informed several companies and brands, who sell on the site through WS Retail, to directly sell their products to consumers. However, WS Retail will continue to be the seller for Flipkart exclusives such as the Motorola and Xiaomi handsets.

In order to leave, you had to recite scripture word for word to the teacher. And I was one of the last kids to leave because I was like, "Why do I have to memorize this scripture?" It's different if I want to memorize a Bible scripture from my heart and for something that I want in my head. But it's another if you're going to use scripture as a tool to keep kids locked in a room.I got really nervous because I couldn't leave and get to my mom because I didn't know the scripture well enough. I'd never seen anyone use Bible scripture as a tool or a weapon.Your cousin Jill Duggar Dillard said in "Shiny Happy People" that neither set of her grandparents understood why her mother and father were having so many children. From your perspective at family gatherings, what would your grandparents say? My grandma would just be like, "Whoa, whoa, that's a lot." And then my grandpa — he was way more outspoken and he had an anger issue. He said what was on his mind. My aunt and uncle would be like, "We're pregnant with number 15." And my grandpa would be like, "All right. And that's it." So it was like a running joke. He loved his grandkids, though.One of the most compelling parts of the documentary was when you and other subjects explained how discipline worked in the IBLP and that spanking a child, sometimes with objects, was called "encouragement." Was there any time you felt fearful for your safety while visiting your Uncle Jim Bob and Aunt Michelle? I might be writing a book, so I want to keep some of my stories for that.But I will say yes, there were times that I was fearful. It's interesting — I've never heard my aunt yell, not one time in her entire life have I ever heard her yell. But the reflection of her voice, and how calm and sweet she is with that whole tone, it doesn't match the experience of what could have been taking place.On a bit of a lighter note, in the series, you mentioned that your cousins once told you about a bonfire they had burning Disney items. According to Latin Quarters co-founder and CEO Rahul Bhalla, unlike many international brands where the “Indian customer has to fit in,” Latin Quarters curates and designs clothes keeping the Indian woman in mind. “Styles like bling, sequin, shimmer A-line party dresses sell more than counterparts. Colours like black, maroon, dark shades of blues, you know, any earthy tone colours do very well in India, and what reflects well on the Indian skin tone, does well,” shared Bhalla in a conversation with Business Insider India, breaking down what he calls the “science behind dress shopping” in India. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Size does matter" comment="subhead2" text="Size does matter">Size does matter</cmsannotation> It’s not just the colour, but also the cut and cloth of Indianised Western styles that matter for shoppers. Moreso, the preferences and other elements differ across regions and states in the wide Indian subcontinent. Latin Quarters, which is present in nearly 80 cities in India, streamlines its production and distribution based on scientific elements that cater to varying demands of the varied Indian consumers across India. It has collections that suit every specified need. “In the northeast, the average height of a lady would generally be shorter - so, we have a separate petite collection for them, which is exclusively sold to these areas where the length is an issue. In the South, smaller sizes sell more and in the North and West, larger sizes sell a lot more,” said Bhalla. However, choices that marry the Indian sensibility with sartorial aspirations are common across locations - and that’s what allows dresses, specifically longer dresses, to become Latin Quarters’ most popular offering. “Dresses contribute to about 57-58% of our total business. However, with the world going back to normal, Latin Quarters is seeing a lot of action, with sales above pre-Covid levels. As Bhalla puts it, “This year, we should be up by about 20% on pre-Covid numbers, in terms of total revenue as well as profitability and the point of sales across everything.” However, Latin Quarters continues to ‘struggle’ in Mumbai and Delhi, witnessing ‘disappointing’ sales due to greater competition and steep real estate prices, according to Bhalla. At the same time, he added that <keyword id="6354925" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="kolkata" source="Orion">Kolkata</keyword> remained one of their biggest markets, along with Hyderabad, <keyword id="2094" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pune" source="Orion">Pune</keyword>, and Bangalore. In terms of growth, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities have shown the most favourable results, which Bhalla believes will drive future growth for most players in this category, including Latin Quarters - because of better real estate prices and aspirational customers who are more willing to experiment. “We're getting a lot of traction from smaller cities. We have six more of our EBOs (exclusive brand outlets) opening up. There's (only) one opening in Bangalore - rest of them are in Indore, Amritsar… just where the real estate is better,” said Bhalla. Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities have been ripe for urbanisation and growth, being pegged as growth drivers, especially for retail and real estate, by both NBFC <a href="https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/tier-ii-and-iii-cities-to-be-growth-drivers-over-the-next-2-yrs-sundaram-122021900154_1.html">Sundaram Home Finance </a>and management consulting firm, <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/voices/tier-ii-and-tier-iii-cities-to-drive-the-growth-of-malls-in-india/">Kearney Research</a>, among others. Bhalla also shared that after comparing their own sales with other brands in the category, and observing overall trends, he has seen ethnic wear being restricted to special occasions like Diwali and Karwa Chauth - especially for the working woman. Similarly, according to him, more and more millennials and Gen-Zs are adopting Western wear because they see it as a “differentiating factor from their mothers and grandmothers.” <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Online: no longer for outdated merchandise alone" comment="subhead2" text="Online: no longer for outdated merchandise alone">Online: no longer for outdated merchandise alone</cmsannotation> Bhalla believes that prior to the pandemic, they were ‘lazy’ in their approach to online channels, using it only as a way to liquidate outdated merchandise and styles. But with the pandemic, Bhalla states there has been a ‘change in mindset’, with Latin Quarters investing money, time and energy in building online sales channels, because the “future is going to be about convenience” i.e. how quickly a product is shipped and/or can be exchanged. This perfectly aligns with the recent <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/retail/online-shoppers-drive-e-commerce-in-post-pandemic-india/articleshow/95721588.cms?from=mdr">report by The Economic Times</a>, that stated how “online purchase of shirts, jackets, dresses, tops, jeans, sneakers and boots accounted for 26-50% for some of the largest fashion brands in the country, busting the myth that touch and feel are critical factors in the fashion purchase decision.” Bhalla also believes one of the greatest advantages of online sales channels over offline stores is the wide variety of sizes. As he puts it, “it's very difficult for every (offline) store to have every size of every single listing with us. With online, we can solve that 99% of the time.” Currently, Latin Quarters exists on all major online portals and has 19 EBOs, with plans to add 6 more stores by March 2023, Bhalla said. It is also present across 290 large format department stores - primarily Pantaloons, Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle Stores, along with presence in Lulu Hypermarket and Reliance’s Centro (formerly, Future Group’s Central). While Latin Quarters has surpassed pre-pandemic numbers in terms of revenue, the Indian festive season had limited impact on Latin Quarters’ sales, because of its <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/ecommerce/news/one-in-every-five-online-orders-had-a-kurti-or-saree-in-their-cart-redseer/articleshow/95598263.cms">complete lack of ethnic wear</a>. Bhalla is looking to the upcoming winter and Christmas sales season to offset this dip. “So Durga puja was very good - we did about 26% higher than our 2019-20 (sales). Diwali, to be very honest, has never been a very strong Western wear category. Winter wear and Christmas is basically our Diwali,” shared Bhalla. Platforms selling D2C brands include Meesho, Tata Cliq, Myntra, Nykaa and Ajio. However, ABFRL’s business model will be similar to the New York-based e-commerce player Thrasio, which acquires small merchants and brands listed on Amazon marketplace. Thrasio has acquired more than 100 third party sellers or fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) businesses and is valued at $6 billion. Indian players like 10Club, Mensa Brands (founded by Myntra's former CEO Ananth Narayanan) and GlobalBees (founded by FirstCry founder Supam Maheshwari and Edelweiss' former executive Nitin Agarwal) have garnered the interest of investors. The combined revenue of all D2C retailers in India was $3 billion in 2020, and is likely to be $35 billion by 2025, according to a recent report by O3 Capital. "Berries and cream" has become an inescapable refrain on the platform in the past several weeks, but the advertisement campaign has been a cult mainstay online for years. In the years since, video <a href="https://youtu.be/Ryjpbd4D4bg">uploads of the commercials</a> have amassed millions of views on YouTube and now TikTok. They all feature the "Little Lad," played by <a href="http://www.jackferver.com/">writer, director, and choreographer Jack Ferver</a>, who sings about how much he loves the berries and cream flavor, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryjpbd4D4bg">frequently interrupting a conversation to do so</a>. In another Starburst featurette, the Little Lad explains that while "mummy's gone," he still likes to do the "Little Lad dance" she made him perform in order to get berries and cream. <a href="https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/berries-and-cream">According to Know Your Meme</a>, the "berries and cream" advertisements led to a brief wave of remixes and mashups featuring the jingle. Now, over a decade later, the ads are trending on TikTok, and they've even brought the original actor who played the Little Lad into the fray.<h2>'Berries and cream' memes flooded TikTok months after the sound was first uploaded</h2>Many of the "berries and cream" memes on TikTok are concentrated under an upload of the sound that's currently associated with over 75,000 videos. The audio was <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@hoopsmcelroy/video/6914482248154713349?lang=en&amp;is_copy_url=0&amp;is_from_webapp=v1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;sender_web_id=68912598098960563261259809896056326">originally posted to TikTok in January</a> by <a href="https://twitter.com/JustinMcElroy">podcaster and former video games journalist Justin McElroy</a> in a video with the caption, "please make great art with this sound, its [sic] what we all need."While McElroy <a href="https://twitter.com/JustinMcElroy/status/1369010080235012101?s=20">tweeted in March</a> that the audio just "didn't catch fire" like he thought it would, it just needed a few more months to pick up on TikTok. In August, the sound began to gain traction, along with the original Little Lad dance. Early uses of the sound were typically memes about people looking similar to the Little Lad based on bob cuts and attire. Eventually, "berries and cream" became a fixation of its own, with people making deliberately terrible new takes on the jingle, edits of the Little Lad, and mashups that splice lines from the jingle into well-known songs like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP." <h2>The actor who played the Little Lad acknowledged the trend </h2><a href="http://www.jackferver.com/">Ferver,</a> who played the Little Lad in the original commercials, has since acknowledged the "berries and cream" TikTok resurgence on social media. "A Mystery... The Little Lad is on TikTok under thereallittlelad," Ferver wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. "It's strange. After all these years. To see a character I created a hundred years ago... return..... of its own free will.... Doesn't this flower remind you of berries... berries....... and what else?"The TikTok account has racked up millions of views in the span of just several days."Oh, hello TikTok! Hearing from you has been just wonderful. I've been so lonely, I'll tell you about it sometime. While the <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@starburst?">official Starburst TikTok account</a> hasn't yet entered the fray, Justin Hollyn-Taub, Senior Director, US Fruit Snacks at Mars, Inc. (which 0wns Starbursts) called the trend "unexplainably juicy" in a written statement to Insider."We... love seeing the creative dance being shared amongst fans. Is anyone available to give us a tutorial on how to dance like this? It has been nearly fifteen years since STARBURST first learned it after all!" Hollyn-Taub told Insider.
