For the fifth consecutive day on Friday, <keyword id="3001" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Pakistan">Pakistan</keyword> resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in J&amp;K's Poonch district. Defence ministry spokesman Colonel Devender Anand said at about 6.30 am on Friday, Pakistan again initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district. The spokesman said <keyword id="6354416" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Army">Indian Army</keyword> is retaliating befittingly. On Thursday, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire in Mendhar and Balakote sectors. Friday's ceasefire violation is the fifth consecutive violation during the last five days. This year Pakistan has violated the ceasefire on the LoC over 2,720 times during which 21 civilians have been killed and 94 others injured. On August 1, an Army soldier, Sepoy Rohin Kumar, was killed in Pakistani firing on the LoC in Rajouri district.

Srinagar, Pakistan on Tuesday violated the LoC ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district and Indian troops were returning the fire, the Indian Army said. According to an army statement, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation, firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Shahpur and Kirni sectors of Poonch. "Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," the statement added. A civilian was killed and four others injured in firing by Pakistan in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night. According to reports, Pakistan resorted to indiscriminate shelling and firing on Indian defence positions and villages close to the Line of Control. Some of the shells landed in the residential areas in which one civilian was killed and the others were injured. Some houses were also damaged in the shelling. On February 2, there were multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Tangdhar, Gurez, Balakot and Mendhar sectors in which one Indian soldier was injured.

<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Pakistan+troops">Pakistani troops</a> resorted to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=ceasefire+violation">ceasefire violation</a> twice overnight and targeted Indian posts and civilian areas by shelling 120 mm mortar bombs along the <keyword id="44759" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Line-of-Control">Line of Control</keyword> in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. 
 
The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=indian+army">Indian army</a> also retaliated to the shelling. 
 
"Pakistan troops fired from small arms, mortar bombs of 120 mm and 61 mm range on forward posts along the LoC in Sabzian and Balakote sectors in Poonch district overnight,” a defence spokesman informed. 
 
Pakistani troops fired from automatic weapons in Sabzian sector and Balakote sector till this morning. 
 
The spokesman said that the troops effectively retaliated and informed there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing. 
 
As per reports, there have been 21 ceasefire violations along the <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=India-Pakistan+border">India-Pakistan border</a> in Jammu region this month. 
 
On August 11, the Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked firing twice across the LoC in Krishna Ghati Sector of Poonch district and Bhimbhergali sector in Rajouri district on August 10 night. 
 
Last month, there were 19 ceasefire violations in which four persons, including three jawans, were killed and 14 others injured. 
 
This month in August, Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian posts along the LoC in Hamirpur-Balakote, Hamirpur, Krishnagati and Sabzian sectors, possibly to facilitate <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infiltration">infiltration</a> from across the border. 
 
An army jawan was also injured as Pakistani troops opened fire at villages and forward posts in Poonch district along the LoC on August 7.

On Thursday, for the entire day Pakistan violated ceasefire on the LoC in three sectors of the Poonch district. Twenty-four civilians have been killed and over 100 injured in over 2,730 such ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the LoC so far this year. This has brought misery into the lives of hundreds of border villagers living close to the LoC as cross border shelling endangers their lives, homes, cattle and agricultural fields. Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has been violating the bilateral ceasefire agreement signed by the two countries in 1999, with impunity. Indian Army retaliated 'befittingly' to Pakistan's latest ceasefire violation in J&K's Poonch district

According to aviation guidelines, the DGCA will conduct a detailed probe and identify the real cause of the accident. Two special relief flights have been arranged from Delhi and one from Mumbai for rendering humanitarian assistance to all the passengers and the family members. According to news agency PTI, one of the 18 passengers has tested positive for COVID-19. Health Minister K K Shailaja has asked all the people who were engaged in the rescue operations should report to the health authorities and go on self quarantine as a precautionary measure and get themselves tested. Air India express has also announced compensation for the victims. "To provide immediate relief, as an interim compensation AI Express will give Rs 10,00,000 to the next kin of the deceased passenger 12 years and above, Rs 5,00,000 to the passengers below the age of 12 years, Rs 200,000 to critically injured passenger and Rs 50,000 to the passenger who are injured in the incident," the statement said. Why did the plane crash? The plane had 174 passengers on board, including 10 infants, 6 crew members and two pilots.
