In a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkznznAdCfA&amp;t=40s">video</a>, Jain said that POCO is now an independent entity with its own team and ‘go to market strategy’. “POCO is coming back. You will see POCO products in 2020 again in India. This time, they will be in a slightly different avatar because POCO is now an independent brand and a separate legal entity. It will be run by a separate team.” The <keyword id="6792405" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="poco-f1">POCO F1</keyword> was launched as an affordable flagship in 2018 and sold over <a href="https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/poco-f1-clocks-700-000-unit-sales-in-3-months-available-at-reduces-prices-on-flipkart-mi-com-1958748">700,000 units</a> in 3 months. Despite the success, the company did not launch any device in 2019. What this means for POCO The POCO F1 was launched with a customized version of MIUI. Now that POCO is an independent brand, we expect its devices to offer a different experience than Xiaomi. Jain hinted that POCO may launch more than one device in 2020 in India. It may also launch accessories under the brand. We expect the POCO F2 will be the first device from the independent brand. POCO F2 may launch soon The POCO F2 was <a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/1009225">spotted</a> on Geekbench running on Android 10 with 8GB RAM. The company is expected to improve the device along the lines of its Redmi K20 series with improved design and cameras. The POCO F2 listing mentions a Qualcomm chipset code-named ‘Pheonixin’. The Redmi K30 with Snapdragon 730G was codenamed ‘Pheonix’. It is possible that ‘Pheonixin’ could mean ‘Pheonix India’ and the POCO F2 could be the Indian variant of the Redmi K30. Xiaomi converts POCO into an independent brand - to launch a device soon

On its website, Poco has mentioned that Poco X2 will feature ‘extreme refresh rate’ for ‘extreme gaming’. Xiaomi's Poco becomes third largest online smartphone brand in India

New Delhi, Jan 23 () POCO, which has recently been spun off from Xioami as a separate entity, is working towards becoming an independent legal entity in India.
Speaking to , POCO India General Manager C Manmohan said the company is working on becoming an independent legal entity in India to operate as a distinct company.
"POCO has been able to differentiate itself in the market in the last one and half years. We will continue listening to consumers to bring innovative products to them... we are working on establishing an independent legal entity in India," he added.
POCO had launched 'F1' in August 2018. While it is not clear how many devices have been sold, reports suggest it had been able to capture over 3 per cent market share in 2018 in Rs 15,000-30,000 price segment. This share dropped later, given that no new devices were launched under POCO after the F1. 
Manmohan said the company will leverage some resources from Xiaomi like after-sales but that will be done through separate agreements. The company has already established a product, sales and marketing team of its own.
POCO will also introduce its next product in the Indian market next month.
"We will launch our new phone next month. We will start online and then progress to additional channels," he said.
Talking about the smartphone market in the country, Manmohan said the industry is very different from 2018, when POCO was launched as a sub-brand of Xiaomi.
"The last one and a half years have been a good training exercise. As a separate entity, we will be able to take decisions independently. There is competition, including from Xiaomi, but our focus will be on delivering premium experiences and innovation," he added.
Xiaomi led the smartphone shipment tally with 27.1 per cent share in the September 2019 quarter, followed by Samsung (18.9 per cent), Vivo (15.2 per cent), Realme (14.3 per cent) and Oppo (11.8 per cent), as per an industry report.
According to Counterpoint Research, POCO had 3.6 per cent share in 2018 in the Rs 15,000-30,000 price segment, which dropped to 1.1 per cent in 2019. SR ANU

 One of the important considerations while buying a phone is its design and build quality. Most budget smartphones now offer decent design and build quality - turning them into basic needs rather than premium features. While the Poco F1 displayed its budget credentials with its plastic build, the Poco X2 shows no such signs. The phone feels solid to hold and looks premium without . squeaky corners. It is covered in glass on the front as well as the back. An unfortunate side-effect of the glass back is that it is slippery, so you might want to use a skin or a case. The back of the phone sports a glossy design and has a circular design around the camera module, which adds a bit of a flair to the otherwise understated looks. Poco X2: Display quality

 The display is one of the most hyped features of the Poco X2, and you might wonder why. Although raw power is still important, most smartphones are now powerful enough. Understandably, companies have now turned their focus to other areas like the display quality. With the X2, Poco is kicking it up a notch with a 120Hz refresh rate display. What does this mean in lay terms? Well, the Poco X2’s display is super smooth. It refreshes 120 times per second while most smartphone displays refresh only 60 times per second. This has an immediate effect on the overall smoothness of user interface elements and animations. For example, scrolling is a lot smoother on the Poco X2 when compared to a regular smartphone. However, not all third-party apps support high refresh rates, in which case the phone will use the regular 60Hz refresh rate. Still, we expect this to improve in the near future as higher refresh rates become more common. Other than that, we also found the display to be bright enough to use in direct sunlight. Poco has used a high-quality display on the Poco X2 and there’s nothing to complain about. Poco X2: Performance While the Poco F1 was powered by a flagship Qualcomm 845 chipset, the Poco X2 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, which is a mid-range chipset. However, that does not mean the Poco X2 is slower. We tested the 8GB model with 256GB storage. In our testing, we did not come across any performance issues. The phone performed just fine while playing popular games like Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile. Ample memory and fast storage remove any performance bottlenecks, too, so the overall experience is very smooth. In terms of battery life, the Poco X2 easily lasted us for an entire day with regular usage – this includes social media, messaging, calls, watching videos and gaming. There are multiple factors which help the Poco X2’s battery life – the chipset is efficient, the battery is a massive 4,500mAh unit and MIUI prevents apps from wasting too much power. Poco has also bundled a massive 27W fast charger, which charges the Poco X2 from 0% to 100% in less than 1.5 hours. Poco X2: Software The Poco X2 runs on MIUI 11 which is based on Android 10, so you have the latest version of MIUI as well as Android. As of writing this review, Poco has also pushed out the latest security update, which is a positive sign. Overall, MIUI 11 has a wide range of useful features. Xiaomi has tweaked its custom skin extensively over the past few years to add a lot of value, so you don’t have to download a third-party app for many of the features. Another important aspect of the Poco X2 is that it doesn’t have any ads across the interface. Xiaomi generally pushes ads on its phones running on MIUI, but Poco smartphones use a slightly tweaked version that removes these ads. Then being said, the Poco X2 does come with some third-party apps pre-installed, but you can easily uninstall them. You can also disable most of the functions of the built-in security app if you don’t like them, which is a good thing. Poco X2: Cameras

 The Poco X2 has a total of six cameras – four on the back and two on the front. Let’s talk about the cameras on the back first. The Poco X2 is one of the first few phones to come with a brand new 64MP Sony IMX 686 sensor, which succeeds the highly popular 48MP sensor from Sony. The 64MP main camera is assisted by an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth shooter. Essentially, you have a camera for every situation. In the real world, the Poco X2 performs exceedingly well for the price. Daylight shots capture details effortlessly with good colour reproduction. Ultrawide angle and macro shots take some effort, and they’re not always great, but that’s okay since you will be using the primary camera most of the time. On the front, the Poco X2 has a 20MP selfie camera with a 2MP depth sensor. The addition of an extra camera on the front allows the Poco X2 to capture some really good portrait shots that belie the price of the phone. The Poco X2 does struggle a bit in low-light conditions, but Night mode does a decent job of capturing enough details. All things considered, though, the Poco X2 does very well in terms of camera performance. Verdict Poco X2 is one of the best budget smartphones that you can buy right now. It has a lot of things going for it – the build quality, great display, an adequately powerful chipset, ample memory and storage, great battery life and surprisingly good camera performance. There’s little to complain about. Yes, the circle around the camera module was not necessary, but the phone will likely be in a case, which removes this issue out of the equation. The other problem that could hamper the Poco X2 is the flash sales model – Poco is currently selling the phone in weekly flash sales on Flipkart. You will have to be fast enough to purchase the phone when it goes on sale at 12PM today or wait for the next weekly sale. What could have been better? The Poco F3 GT’s direct rival is the Realme X7 Max 5G, with both offering comparable performance thanks to the Dimensity 1200 chipset. Both the phones also face similar issues when it comes to camera performance, so there really isn’t a lot that sets the two phones apart. Should you buy the Poco F3 GT? The Poco F3 GT fares very well when it comes to performance. The Dimensity 1200 chipset is fast enough to handle even graphic-intensive games with ease. The display quality is good, and Poco has done a good job with the way the phone feels in hand. MIUI is now cleaner and gets out of your way when it comes to using the phone. Specialisation allows Redmi to be its own brand as per its price and also tailor its distribution to cater to its target audience — users looking for budget smartphones (₹10,000 - ₹20,000). Not that there’s isn’t something in it for Xiaomi as well. The multi-brand approach allows the company to boost its growth. Since the strategy for each sub-brand will be specialised for its mission — the cumulative growth of all the sub-brand will also the parents brand to grow even further. What’s in it for the user? Having a separate brand for an entity that specifically caters ‘budget smartphones’ cuts marketing dissonance out of the equation. That means if you go to an offline retailer for a ‘budget smartphone’ — the retailer will know exactly which brand to offer. Even consumers will have a clear idea about which phone brand serves their exact purpose rather than comparing the ‘budget launches’ of different brands. Redmi will be able to specialise in the different facets of the phone, rather than being Xiaomi’s ‘budget offering’. That means camera-focused phones, performance-focused phones or even display-focused phones. At a time when the Indian smartphone market in booming in India, users are looking for variety in their options but they are also looking for specificity. <ul><li><keyword id="10591" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung">Samsung</keyword>, the South Korea <keyword id="28168" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Smartphone">smartphone</keyword> brand, announced their plans to launch ‘<keyword id="1698103" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="M-series">M-series</keyword>’ of smartphones that are going to be ‘India-first’.</li><li>Being ‘India-first’ entails that the phones will be made in India and sold exclusively in India between ₹10,000 to ₹20,000. </li><li><keyword id="874458" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Xiaomi">Xiaomi</keyword>, <keyword id="6354427" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="apple">Apple</keyword> and other brands are also prioritising India as other smartphone markets around the world are shrinking.</li></ul>The size of smartphone markets around the world is shrinking and India seems to be only market poised to grow. Global brands like Samsung and Xiaomi are looking to make the most out of the potential market in India, which is at this point the world’s second largest in the world. Xiaomi and Samsung have been battling it out for market share in India with Xiaomi winning most of 2018. But the South Korean smartphone brand has plans of changing that conversation with the launch of their ‘M-series’ phones which will only be available for sale in India. This isn’t the first smartphone brand focus on India in 2019. The sale of the M-Series phones will be limited to being online, either through the official Samsung portal or via <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=amazon&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Amazon</a>. According to Asim Warsi, the global vice president at Samsung India, the India-first phones will be priced between ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 and in exchange, the phones will have chunkier batteries but they’ll be equipped with features like quick charging. Fight for the brands, win for the consumer Just being ‘cheaper’ won’t be good enough because offering ‘value-for-money’ works better in the Indian market as proven by Xiaomi’s success with its budget brand Redmi and OnePlus’ domination of the premium smartphone segment. Apple, known globally for its iPhones but yet to find its footing in India, is the exception to the rule. It’s finally going down the ‘Make-in-India’ path by announcing that it will be assembling its ‘high-end’ devices locally. But, all the other players will be in direct competition with each other and that will inevitably drag prices down. Xiaomi is looking to strengthen its stronghold in India by separating <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=redmi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Redmi</a> as a sub-brand. The logic being that <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/xiaomis-new-sub-brand-poco-is-the-company-going-back-to-its-roots/articleshow/65503713.cms">POCO</a> — another sub-brand under Xiaomi — will focus on ‘affordable flagships’ and Redmi will focus on the ‘budget’ smartphones. In contrast, Samsung asserts that it isn’t taking the ‘one portfolio’ approach with India. Warsi told IANS, “We are here to serve all consumers — from flagship premium and luxury to mid-range, affordable and popular smartphone segments. Being a full-range player, we have a full deployment and infrastructure in place in the country.” Whichever strategy wins, the final beneficiary will be the Indian consumer who is likely to get smartphones cheaper than ever before.
