<keyword id="19965774" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab-national-bank" source="keywords">Punjab National Bank</keyword> (<keyword id="19918505" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pnb" source="keywords">PNB</keyword>) on Thursday announced an over three-fold jump in its profit to Rs 2,223 crore for the October-December quarter of the current financial year, compared to the corresponding figure of Rs 629 crore in the same period last year. The government-owned bank's total income shot up to Rs 29,962 crore during the quarter from Rs 25,722 crore in the same period last year. PNB's net interest income (<keyword id="19936363" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nii" source="keywords">NII</keyword>) went up 12.1 per cent to Rs 10,293 crore from Rs 9,179.4 crore in the year ago period, according to a regulatory filing. The bank's asset quality also improved during the quarter with gross non-performing assets (<keyword id="19964545" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="npas" source="keywords">NPAs</keyword>) declining to 6.24 per cent of total loans from 9.76 per cent in the same period last year. Net NPAs came down to 0.96 per cent from 3.30 per cent. The provisions for bad loans made by the bank came down to Rs 2,739.1 crore from Rs 4,713.34 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. PNB clocks 3-fold jump in net profit at ₹2,223 crore for Q3

<keyword id="6426359" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pnb-housing-finance" source="Orion">PNB Housing Finance</keyword> on Thursday reported an 11.7 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 262.63 crore for the September quarter of 2022-23 on a modest rise in core income. The non-banking finance company had logged a net profit of Rs 235.21 crore in the year-ago period. Total income increased to Rs 1,683.43 crore from Rs 1,586.41 crore in the same period of 2021-22, <keyword id="47268" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="pnb" source="Orion">PNB</keyword> Housing Finance said in a regulatory filing. The core interest income of the Delhi-based housing finance company rose 6.5 per cent in the quarter to Rs 1,597.54 crore as against Rs 1,499.88 crore in the year-ago period. Total expenses moved up nearly 4 per cent to Rs 1,343 crore from Rs 1,295.21 crore. Promoted by the country's second-largest state-owned lender <keyword id="62034" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="punjab-national-bank" source="Orion">Punjab National Bank</keyword> (PNB), the company is engaged in the business of providing loans for the purchase, construction, repairs and renovations of housing and commercial properties. On the asset front, gross non-performing assets (NPAs or bad loans) stood at 6.05 per cent of gross advances as of September 30, 2022. Net NPAs were at 3.59 per cent. PNB Housing Finance Q2 profit rises 12 pc at Rs 263 cr 

Mumbai, The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> appreciated 16 paise to 81.54 against the US <keyword id="35208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="dollar" source="Orion">dollar</keyword> in early trade on Friday on broad dollar weakness and in line with its Asian peers. At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 81.69 against the dollar, then gained ground to touch 81.54, registering a rise of 16 paise over its previous close. On Thursday, the rupee appreciated by 23 paise to close at 81.70 against the US dollar. Forex traders said the American currency has retreated from its elevated levels post Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes. The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.23 per cent to 105.82. Moreover, steady crude oil price is also aiding investor sentiments. "Brent is steady around <keyword id="54123" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="usd" source="Orion">USD</keyword> 85 per barrel after Thursday's drop which came on reports that the price caps proposed for Russian crude were too high and above the current levels," IFA Global Research Academy said in a note. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, advanced 0.20 per cent to USD 85.51 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share <keyword id="53232" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="bse-sensex" source="Orion">BSE Sensex</keyword> was trading 39.89 points or 0.06 per cent lower at 62,232.79. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty fell 12.65 points or 0.07 per cent to 18,471.45. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital markets on Thursday as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,231.98 crore, according to exchange data. Rupee gains 16 paise to 81.54 against US dollar

<keyword id="62034" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="punjab-national-bank" source="Orion">Punjab National Bank</keyword> (PNB) on Thursday reported a two-fold jump in standalone net profit at Rs 1,126.78 crore for the third quarter ended December. The state-owned bank had earned a net profit of Rs 506.03 crore in the year-ago period. However, total income during October-December 2021 declined to Rs 22,026.02 crore as against Rs 23,298.53 crore in the year-ago period, PNB said in a regulatory filing. Punjab National Bank's net profit more than doubles to ₹1,127 crore

The revision would come into effect from Wednesday itself. The upward revision in rates will essentially lead to an increase in EMIs for borrowers. HDFC raises lending rates on housing loans by 5 basis points

US-based insurer Metlife Inc, through its group company, will acquire the combined 15.27 per cent stakes of I.G.E. (<keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>) Private Ltd (IGE) and <keyword id="4100068" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="elpro" source="Orion">Elpro</keyword> International Ltd (Elpro) in the <keyword id="12246295" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="pnb-metlife-india-insurance-company-ltd" source="Orion">PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Ltd</keyword> (<keyword id="1632925" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pnb-metlife" source="Orion">PNB MetLife</keyword>) for about ₹1,906 crore cash. According to Elpro, it will receive a sum of about ₹1,424.69 crore while I.G.E. (India) will get about ₹481.32 crore. <keyword id="10435293" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="metlife-international-holdings-llc" source="Orion">MetLife International Holdings LLC</keyword> has entered into a share purchase agreement with I.G.E. (India) and Elpro for the purpose. Elpro said the tentative date for completion of the transaction is November 30, 2021 subject to regulatory approvals. With the purchase of the additional stake, MetLife's stake in <keyword id="47268" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="pnb" source="Orion">PNB</keyword> MetLife will go up to 47.325 per cent. "MetLife's joint venture in India has all of the hallmarks we look for in deploying capital to create long term shareholder value: a track record of consistent execution, an extensive distribution network, strong growth and an advantaged position in one of the world's most attractive life insurance markets," MetLife Asia Regional President, Kishore Ponnavolu, said. "I am pleased that this transaction supports MetLife's continued growth in India and will enable us to deliver even more value for our customers, partners and shareholders. The Dabriwala family has been a strong supporter of PNB MetLife and valued members of its board, and we thank them for their contribution to the company." Elpro Director Surbhit Dabriwala said: "We have enjoyed a strong relationship with MetLife for close to 20 years and seen PNB MetLife grow. Our involvement in PNB MetLife is part of a long tradition at Elpro of working with leading multinational partners in India, including in past ventures with GE and FANUC." On Tuesday morning, Elpro's shares shot up to ₹72.65 after closing at ₹60.55 on Monday.
