After a virtual interaction with beneficiaries of the <keyword id="9908240" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PM-Street-Vendors-Aatmanirbhar-Nidhi">PM Street Vendors' Aatmanirbhar Nidhi</keyword> (PM SVANidhi) scheme from Madhya Pradesh, Modi praised the state government for ensuring the scheme's benefits to over lakh people and providing identity cards to over 4.5 lakh people (scheme beneficiaries) in just two months. The Union government had launched the PM SVANidhi scheme on June 1 to help poor <keyword id="466152" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-vendors">street vendors</keyword> impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic resume livelihood activities. "I congratulate those who are moving ahead with the <keyword id="9908241" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SVANidhi-Yojna">SVANidhi Yojna</keyword>. It is a big thing to provide benefits of the scheme to over one lakh street vendors and providing identity cards to over 4.5 lakh such people. Other states must take inspiration from Madhya Pradesh," Modi said. After his interaction with the street vendors, Modi in a televised address said, "A scheme has been prepared to provide an online platform to street food vendors by using technology. This means, the street food vendors will be able to make online delivery like big restaurants. Efforts are being made to provide this kind of facility." He told the street vendors that if they come forward, the government will take this effort further. The prime minister also urged the street vendors to adopt the digital payment system on a large scale. "The use of digital payment has increased during the past three-four years. Its importance was realised during the corona (COVID-19 outbreak) period. Now customers avoid making payment in cash and pay directly through mobile phone," he said. Appealing street vendors to come forward to adopt the digital system, Modi said, "A new beginning has been made by the banks and digital payment system providers." Modi told the street vendors that representatives of banks and such organisations will reach out to them, provide the QR code and inform them about its use. "I appeal to them (street vendors) to use digital payment more and present an example before the world,"he said. He said the government will make efforts to ensure that street vendors in all big cities of the state get benefit of the PM SVANidhi scheme. "Whenever there is a pandemic, it hits the poor brothers and sisters hard. They always suffer whether it is excessive heat, rainfall or cold and these create problems for their employment and food, Modi said. "They (the poor) faced it the most during the pandemic and were even were forced to return to their native places. The government has realised this and tried to help them as much as possible by providing them ration and creating employment opportunities," he said. The government launched the PM SVANidhi scheme with easy rules so that they can get rid of paying interest on loans which they used to take from private lenders. "You are getting a rebate of seven per cent in interest in these loans (under the scheme). If you repay to the bank on time, you will get more facilities. If you make digital transaction, you will get rewarded for it and you get more loan next time, he said. Referring to attempts made earlier to remove poverty, Modi said, "In our country, a lot has been talked about the poor. But in the last six years, everything has been done in a planned manner. Steps have been taken, which were not taken earlier, like the Jan Dhan Yojna under which 40 crore bank accounts of poor people were opened." These people are getting loans and are liberated from the clutches of money lenders. Farmers are getting assistance directly, he mentioned. He also said that soon villages will also be associated with online marketing platforms. "On August 15, we took a vow to connect all villages with the optical fibre network in next 1,000 days. People will also get digital health identity cards for getting health facilities in rural areas also," he said. Earlier, he interacted with some beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi scheme, including street vendor Chaganlal and his wife from Sanver in Indore district, Gwalior's Archana Sharma and vegetable vendor Dalchand in Raisen district. Modi advised Chaganlal how to enhance his business by asking customers to return the pipe used in making broomsticks to reduce the cost of making a broomstick. Chaganlal also told Modi that he wanted to enhance his business. After spotting a plastic water bottle kept behind Chaganlal's chair, Modi advised him to use an earthen pitcher instead of a single-use plastic bottle for drinking water to save the environment. Modi also asked him about the Ujjwala Yojna and how it benefited his family. Interacting with Archana Sharma from Gwalior, Modi asked whether she would serve him 'tikki' (patties) that she sells at her joint. He also asked her about the SVANidhi scheme and how it benefitted her. He also asked her if she was aware of the Ayushman Bharat health care scheme, to which she said her husband was getting treatment through this scheme only. Modi also interacted with her husband Rajendra Sharma. Talking to vegetable vendor Dalchand from Sanchi in Raisen district, Modi praised him for using the QR code digital platform for receiving payments. He also suggested him ways to improve his vegetable business. After the interaction, Modi also informed street vendors about the 'one nation one ration card' scheme to make things easier for people. The prime minister also cautioned people about the threat of COVID-19 until its vaccine is developed, and advised them to follow guidelines like wearing masks and maintaining two-yard distance. He also asked people to avoid single-use plastic products, among others.

Online food delivery platform <keyword id="6358977" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="swiggy">Swiggy</keyword> on Thursday announced the expansion of its <keyword id="10408806" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-food-vendors-programme">Street Food Vendors programme</keyword> that will benefit 36,000 people in 125 tier 2 and 3 cities in the first phase. In partnership with the Prime Minister <keyword id="456744" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-vendor">Street Vendor</keyword>'s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (<keyword id="9431681" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PM-SVANidhi">PM SVANidhi</keyword>) scheme, Swiggy has created a team to explore and identify popular street vendors on the platform. The company has also created a special destination on the app where consumers can discover their favourite street food vendors. At the time of onboarding, Swiggy said it will ensure all vendors are registered with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (<keyword id="154680" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="FSSAI">FSSAI</keyword>) and will facilitate a Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) in partnership with FSSAI and their empanelled partners. The SVANidhi Scheme has received loan applications from 1.47 lakh street food vendors to date and Swiggy will onboard 36,000 vendors in the first phase, the company said in a statement. "As a platform committed to bringing the widest choice of food to the doorsteps of consumers safely and hygienically, we're delighted to bring them their favourite street food which they have been missing for many months now," said Vivek Sunder, COO, Swiggy. The online food delivery platform had a successful pilot earlier, initiated with the Ministry of Housing &amp; Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in Ahmedabad, <keyword id="6357203" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Varanasi">Varanasi</keyword>, Chennai, Delhi and Indore, through which Swiggy onboarded over 300 street vendors on its platform. According to Swiggy, all PM SVANidhi Scheme street food vendors must undergo a three-stage training programme before being onboarded. "After the training and registration, all vendors are required to do a self-audit and demonstrate the standards they abide by," modelled on the lines of FSSAI's guidelines to ensure that essential hygienic practices are observed. Swiggy said it conducts virtual one-on-one training and takes the street vendors through the process of accepting, preparing, and fulfilling orders on the platform without compromising on consumer experience. By updating the app, customers in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Indore and Varanasi can now find "Street Vendor" under the restaurant category. Swiggy to onboard 36,000 street vendors as part of the PM SVANidhi scheme

The central government is planning to expand the <keyword id="10066321" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="prime-minister-street-vendor">Prime Minister Street Vendor</keyword>'s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme through its integration with several banks, that may include those from the private sectors too. As part of the plan, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs officials have been directed to work on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to integrate <keyword id="10066380" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="PM-SVANidhi-portal">PM SVANidhi portal</keyword> with various banks to ease and expedite the sanctioning of loans and the disbursement through the scheme. The Ministry is now planning to hold consultations with public and private sector banks later this month so that maximum persons could avail of PM SVANidhi benefits easily and quickly. As part of the avowed objective, Ministry Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra has launched an <keyword id="3278799" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Application-Programming-Interface">Application Programming Interface</keyword> (API) to ensure integration between the portals of PM SVANidhi and State Bank of India (SBI). This integration will facilitate seamless flow of data between PM SVANidhi portal and SBI's eMudra Portal in a secure environment to expedite loan sanctioning and disbursement, which will benefit street vendors seeking working capital loans under the scheme. "The Ministry will explore similar integration with other banks as well, for which a consultative meeting will be held shortly," said a Ministry statement. The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry is implementing PM SVANidhi Scheme since June 1, 2020, that aims to provide affordable working capital loans to street vendors to resume their livelihood otherwise adversely affected by over 68-day countrywide lockdown to contain <keyword id="1754604" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="coronavirus">coronavirus</keyword> pandemic. The scheme targets to benefit over 50 lakh street vendors operating on or before March 24 this year in urban areas, including those from surrounding peri-urban or rural areas. Under the scheme, the vendors can avail working capital loans of up to Rs 10,000 each, which is repayable in monthly instalments in one year. On timely or early repayment, an interest subsidy at 7 per cent per annum is credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through <keyword id="6357205" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="direct-benefit-transfer">Direct Benefit Transfer</keyword> (DBT) on quarterly basis. There is no penalty on early repayment of loan. The scheme promotes digital transactions through cash-back incentives up to Rs 1,200 per annum. As of October 6, over 20.50 lakh loan applications have been received under the PM SVANidhi scheme, of which over 7.85 lakh cases have been sanctioned and amounts disbursed in over 2.40 lakh cases. PM SVANidhi portal may be integrated with banks to speed up sanctioning of loans

New Delhi, <keyword id="4742614" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ministry-of-housing-and-urban-affairs">Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs</keyword> (MoHUA) has joined hands with <keyword id="830092" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Zomato">Zomato</keyword> for home delivery of <keyword id="6361952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Street-Food">street food</keyword> in six cities. As a part of Prime Minister <keyword id="456744" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-vendor">Street Vendor</keyword>'s AtmaNibhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme, the MoHUA entered into MoU with Zomato, to bring <keyword id="6770639" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="street-food-vendors">street food vendors</keyword> on its food-tech platform. In a statement MoHUA said that initially MoHUA and Zomato will run a pilot program by on-boarding 300 vendors across six cities namely - Bhopal, Ludhiana, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Vadodara. "The street vendors will be helped with PAN and fssai registration, training on technology/ partner app usage, menu digitization and pricing, hygiene and packaging best practices. Upon the successful completion of the pilot, MoHUA and Zomato plan to expand this initiative across the country in phases," it said. As per the MoHUA, this will give street food vendors online access to thousands of consumers and help these vendors grow their businesses. The MoHUA also launched the Mobile Application for PMSVANidhi se Samriddhi- Socio-economic profiling of PM SVANidhi beneficiaries and their families to link them to various Central government Schemes. "Covid-19 pandemic has restricted consumers from stepping out and forced them to follow physical distancing norms. In the given scenario it is important to connect Street Food Vendors with technology-enabled platforms to help them grow their business, thus helping them gain financially," said the ministry. In a first of its kind initiative, MoHUA entered into an MoU with Swiggy on October 5 last year and it is now joining hands with Zomato to empower street food vendors with digital technology. What is PM SVANidhi Yojana and how to apply for a street vendor loan

Mumbai, Jun 19 () Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi) on Friday said it has signed a pact with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for implementation of the PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi). PM SVANidhi is a central scheme fully funded by the ministry with the objective to facilitate working capital loan to street vendors, thus enabling them to emerge self-reliant after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and revive their livelihood activity through formal access to credit. Sidbi will be the implementation partner for the scheme and will set up a project management unit, a release said. It will give access to the scheme through a customised digital platform and will integrate the institutional ecosystem and build capacity value chain. The development finance institution will facilitate credit guarantee to lending institutions through Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE). Microfinance institutions (MFIs) shall be on-boarded on the CGTMSE platform for the first time for the scheme, Sidbi said. The platform shall also be integrated with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to enable the processes envisaged in the scheme, it said. "We are pleased to play a role in this important national endeavour to help millions of street vendors across the country whose livelihood activities have been disrupted due to the coronavirus outbreak. "We shall carry out deep engagement with the entire lending community and urge them to actively participate to make this scheme a success," Sidbi Chairman and Managing Director Mohammad Mustafa said. The scheme includes an initial working capital of up to Rs 10,000, interest subsidy on timely/early repayment at the rate of 7 per cent, monthly cashback incentive on digital transactions and higher loan eligibility on timely repayment of the first loan. Under this scheme, commercial banks, regional rural banks, small finance banks, co-operative banks, non-banking financial companies, MFIs and self-help groups will be able to provide credit. "To give impetus to the campaign for a self-reliant India, we have not only changed the definition of MSMEs, but have also approved several proposals to revive it. This will benefit the small and medium scale industries, as well as create huge employment opportunities," Modi said in a series of tweets in Hindi and English.
