The year 2015 is on a fag end and it is time to look back and see who made news and why. From politics to Bollywood to even holy cow, Indian celebrities were centre of attraction for some or the reason in 2015. 
 
Yahoo released its 2015 Year in Review and came out with interesting top trends of 2015. 
 
As per Yahoo, Sunny Leone remained the most searched female celebrity for fourth year in a row and Salman Khan was the most searched male celebrity of 2015. 
 
Interestingly, Sania Mirza was among the most searched sportspersons, breaking the cricket-dominated list. Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni took the top spot and Saina Nehwal was at 10th. 
 
Even our holy cow emerged as personality of the year, due to a string of controversies including the beef ban and Dadri lynching incident. 
 
Among other news, ISIS, 2015 World Cup, APJ Abdul Kalam’s demise, the Sheena Bora Murder investigation and the Vyapam Scandal also made headlines in 2015 and featured on the list of most searched news in 2015. 
 
Not surprising enough, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the most searched politician of the year and his selfie moment with China’s Li Keqiang was the epic selfie of 2015. 
 
Arvind ‘common man’ Kejriwal was second and Radhe Maa was also among the most searched personalities! 
 
Talking about movies, the epic Baahubali, which broke box-office records while also being the most expensive movie to be ever made in India, went on to claim the top spot as ‘Most Searched Movie of the Year’. 
 
Apple dominated technology news and searches this year, with the iPhone 6 taking the top spot in the list of Most-Searched Gadgets.

PM Modi is the selfie king of 2015! Apple iPhone 6 is most searched gadget of the year

A kiosk named “SELFIEwithMODI” has been grabbing the eyeballs of millions of Delhi residents, as it allows them to get a virtual selfie clicked with the honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi. 
 
There are more than 20 mobile kiosks roaming around the city, enabling people to get a selfie with the charismatic leader. The kiosk has a large banner of the PM, with a camera and a tripod; people are allowed to just step in and get clicked. The kiosk has been aptly launched at a time when the political scenario of the city is under a supposed makeover. 
 
In just two days of its operation, there have been claims of more than 2 lakh selfies being clicked using the software. This seems to have inspired BJP people to install 100 more such kiosks so that people can have a feel of how it feels to be clicked with a leader of his stature. 
 
The first booth was installed in Khan Market and was inaugurated by BJP Vice President Amit Shah.

State Bank of India builds a frontline sales app

The company may also use this to decide whether to lease a car to someone or not. Eros Now uses AI to learn how its users interact

Royal Enfield uses Dynamics 365 to maintain service histories and job cards

Novartis India, Sterlite Power and Genpact have been using LinkedIn to improve learning, recruiting and marketing practices in the companies. Every Indians know his fascination for gadgets. Remember his selfie after the poll last year? Well, a man in love with gadgets would never miss this grand chance of visiting the campus of the god of gadgets , Apple. And if he is the Prime Minister of India, then of course the Apple’s CEO Tim Cook would be glad to meet him.

Unending candy crush requests for everyone who doesn’t favour the BJP: If there’s one thing that can be more annoying than your relatives adding you up on Facebook, it’s those numerous candy crush requests that your school friends and everyone who doesn’t have a job or a brain seem to be sending you. Taking advantage of this disdain towards those requests, Prime Minister Modi will sign a historic agreement with Zuckerberg to ensure that anyone who speaks ill of the majesty on the social networking site will be bombarded with candy crush requests every day until they pledge alliance. (or stop using Facebook altogether) 
 
 
 
3. Swachh Facebook Campaign will be launched: If you a resident of the biggest democracy in the world (which you unfortunately are), you’re well aware of Modi’s affinity for campaigns. Not one to leave out Facebook in this scheme, Modi will also propose a ‘Swachh Facebook Campaign’ which will cover the whole social networking site and will get clean the site of anything that is against Indian culture. Swachh Facebook for the win! 
 
 
 
4. One yoga picture a day: With a little help from his friend, Mark Zuckerberg, Modi will see to it that there comes a pop-up before you post anything on Facebook which will guarantee that you will be allowed access to posting statuses/pictures on your own wall only if a picture of you doing Yoga is submitted. It is a known fact that our country is governed by politicians who are comedians in disguise. From making every Indian laugh at their utterly false promises to disrupting the Parliament day after day and being involved in scams of massive proportions, our politicians are guilty of indulging in them all. 
 
While they might not excel at what they’ve been elected to do (no surprises there), we can’t help but admit that our politicians do have some hidden talents. Unfortunately, they are unable to hone these talents due to the immense burden of governing a country on their shoulders. (also alternatively known as the burden of enforcing a ban on everything we’ve ever loved and cared for)

Of course, with deep seated poverty, also lie the epicenter of snobbery of the elite; the art and the likes of fine living that people in villas and apartments can only boast of. For the normal junta, it is about getting from point A to point B every day. 
 
Any political party would know Delhi is a different ball game altogether. The region isn’t a single line story. 
 
Having been drubbed in almost all elections that happened after the general assembly elections which saw Modi win a clear mandate, Congress isn’t being too enthusiastic about Delhi elections. Well, naturally, when there is a void in the space of leadership in the party, would there be any scope to face elections? After dragging its feet for quite a while, Congress has finally declared candidates for about 24 constituencies in the 70-seated Delhi battleground. 
 But, what is indeed interesting is the fact that BJP and AAP are seeking to reaffirm their image through Delhi. In some sense, AAP’s <keyword id="260213" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arvind-Kejriwal">Arvind Kejriwal</keyword> has gone back to voters after having abruptly left the Delhi seat around the same time last year. AAP had posted a historic win in Delhi and somehow managed to mess things up for itself, before citing reasons and abruptly resigning. Many public humiliations over, AAP has come around to salvage its image. 
 
Whatever the world ridiculed him over, Arvind Kejriwal aka the ‘mufflerman’ turned it into his identity. He has been holding campaigns to raise funds to meet the Delhi election expenses. There’s been ‘dinner with the mufflerman’, ‘selfie with the mufflerman’ et al, and people are coming in thousands to attend them. This surely has caused a lot of unrest in the BJP circles that AAP’s fortunes still haven’t sunk! 
 
The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has been walking the power corridors since last May after Modi swept the country in a mammoth wave, has been able to sustain the ‘development’ image amid controversies in the subsequent times. Conversion row in the name of ‘ghar wapsi’, remaining unclear on ‘black money’ promise and a lot of other things that had shown the dreams of a ‘glorious India’ image to the great middle class are somehow falling short of being realized to people’s satisfaction. The streak of Modi’s winning wand continues unabated is all fine, but the middle class is worried that PM has been spending more time abroad, and fighting elections in state than tackling issues on the home front. 
 
AAP with its dramatic identity seems to have made amends with the voters who were angry that Arvind Kejriwal let them down when he jumped off the CM’s seat. One summer over, anger isn’t simmering. The tail end of this winter will hold a mirror to two parties. Results, irrespective, will surely be interesting!

<ul><li>India has banned 118 Chinese apps as border tension with China continue to flare up.</li><li>The third iteration of India's ban on Chinese mobile apps includes the Tencent's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).</li><li>It also banned other games by the Chinese developer including Ludo World, Arena of Valor and Chess Rush. </li></ul>As border tensions between India and China escalate, India’s Ministry of Information and Technology (MeitY) has issued a another list banning 118 Chinese mobile apps from the Indian market. This time it cover the Chinese game developing mammoth Tencent’s PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Ludo World, Arena of Valor and Chess Rush. This is the third time that the Indian government has issued a list that targets mobile apps made by Chinese companies. The first list came out on June 29 after the Galwan Valley skirmish, which left 20 Indian soldier dead and an undisclosed number of casualties on the Chinese side. This included the the popular short video streaming app TikTok, UC Browser, Xiaomi's Mi Community and 56 others. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="76696132" title="List of 59 Chinese apps banned in India by Indian government" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Another list of 47 Chinese apps was issued in July to ban programs that were trying to clone the apps banned in the first iteration. Many were left wondering why Tencent's hugely popular multiplayer battle area game, PUBG, was allowed to remain on the docket. India bans PUBG, Ludo World, and 116 other Chinese mobile applications

Piggybanking on Prime Minister <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=narendra+modi">Narendra Modi’s</a> <keyword id="6354869" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="make-in-India">Make in India</keyword> initiative, a Noida based startup, <keyword id="6428840" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ringing-Bells">Ringing Bells</keyword> is launching India’s most affordable <keyword id="28168" type="TECHNOLOGY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Smartphone">smartphone</keyword> today. 
 Called the ‘<keyword id="3247248" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Freedom-251">Freedom 251</keyword>,’ the phone is priced at Rs 251 and Defence Minister <keyword id="6363133" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Manohar-Parrikar">Manohar Parrikar</keyword> is expected to grace the occasion. 
 
Bookings for the Freedom 251 will start from Thursday 18 February from 6.00 am in the morning and will close on 21 February at 8.00 pm. This is a dual-SIM 3G capable phone. 
 
 
 
Other features include a 4-inch WVGA resolution display, features a 1.3 Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB total storage space and a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back. It also has a 0.3 megapixel camera on the front and has a 1450 mAh battery. 
 
The company also claimed the device comes with touchless technology which it believes is ideal for selfies. There is a 3G radio as well. Not surprisingly, the phone also comes pre-installed with apps such as Swachh Bharat, Women Safety, Fisherman, Farmer, Medical, Google Play, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter among others. 
 
The vision is to “Empower citizens, even in the remotest rural and semi-urban centres of India, with the latest in digital technology at incredible affordable prices and cascade knowledge, news and current issues so that all experience the confidence of inclusive growth and equal opportunity – In short, innovative solutions for a brighter tomorrow,” Ringing Bells further added. 
 
Started last year, Ringing Bells consists of a little over 20 employees and is a new entrant in the Indian mobile phone market, Recently, it had launched one of India’s cheapest 4G smartphone at Rs 2,999, apart from launching two other feature phones in the market. 
 
Granted that the launched of a smartphone way under Rs 500 is evidence of the boom in the Indian smartphone market, but it also raises quite a lot of questions with regards to the possibility of it triggering a price war, long-terms plans of the company and basic logistics. 
 
At present, the cheapest smartphone available in the market is is the Firefox OS-based Alcatel Fire C, priced at Rs.1,729, as the smartphone announced by Data Wind, the makers of Aakash tablets, and telecom operator Reliance Communications based on the Linux OS for Rs.999 hasn’t rolled out yet. The question remains, will it be able to stand the test of time? 
 
According to a media invite sent by the firm, the launch stands as a true testimony of success of the latest initiatives taken by the Government of India.
