<ul class="summary-list"><li>Goldman Sachs' trading desk expects record stock market highs in the next four weeks, followed by a downturn.</li><li>A low volatility environment and corporate buybacks are driving Goldman's bullish outlook until mid-September.</li></ul><p>Investors should prepare for fresh record highs in the stock market over the next four weeks, but then get ready to bail.</p><p>That's according to a Monday note from <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/stocks/gs-stock">Goldman Sachs'</a> trading desk, led by managing director Scott Rubner.</p><p>According to Rubner, the stock market is entering "a very positive 4-week equity trading window" that suggests the "pain trade for equities is higher."</p><p>"Global two-week vacations started on Friday at 4pm. The bar for being bearish at the beach into a Labor Day BBQ party is high," Rubner said, highlighting that low volatility markets that are so common during the end of summer weeks are typically bullish for stock prices.</p><p>That new low volatility environment in the stock market comes after <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/stock-market-outlook-vix-increase-decline-growth-scare-tom-lee-2024-8">a historic decline in the CBOE Volatility Index at 62%,</a> representing the biggest 9-day drop in Wall Street's fear gauge on record.</p><p>"We just witnessed one of the largest and fastest unwinds that I have EVER seen," Rubner said, suggesting that professional trend followers who were shaken out of stocks during the early-August sell-off are now likely to flip back into buy mode.</p><p>Other buyers of stocks over the next few weeks include companies that have authorized share buyback programs.</p><p>According to Rubner, with a corporate blackout window starting on September 13 for about 50% of companies, there will be a lot of stock buying between now and then.</p><p>"The August to September corporate repurchase window is historically strong. This two-month period is the second best of the year with 20.7% of executions," Rubner said, adding that the bank estimates about $1 trillion in stock buybacks being executed this year.</p><p>With the <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/index/s&amp;p_500">S&amp;P 500</a> less than 1.4% below its record high, it won't take much for the index to hit record highs in the short-term.</p><h2 id="15109494-96b7-4fad-a73b-4760b717f067"><strong>When to sell stocks</strong></h2><p>But while Rubner is bullish, he still expects a volatile stock market and isn't so sure about more gains after September 16.</p><p>"I am bullish until September 16. This is when seasonals change. 2H of September is the WORST TWO WEEK TRADING period of the year. I will not stick around for this," Rubner said.</p><p>The call from Rubner is significant given that <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/stock-market-outlook-money-wall-drive-stocks-july-record-highs-2024-6">he gave a spot-on stock market prediction in early July,</a> when he said stocks were poised to surge in the first two weeks of July before entering a period of volatility in the second half of the month, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/stock-market-crash-yen-carry-trade-unwind-fed-japan-rates-2024-8">which is exactly what happened.</a></p><p>"Late 2H September will be a tricky trading environment (especially pre-election)," Rubner said.</p><h2 id="92926f6f-b349-41e6-979b-b6b686ca5e49">When to buy back in</h2><p>While Rubner expects a surge in stocks over the next four weeks, followed by a period of negative volatility in the second-half of September, he still expects the stock market to end the year at record highs.</p><p>"SPX $6K - new highs in Q4, led by November and December months," Rubner said, adding that <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/stock-market-outlook-2024-6-trillion-cash-buy-the-dip-2023-12">a record $7.3 trillion in US money market funds will flow into stocks</a> and bonds after the US election in early November.</p><p>A rise to 6,000 for the S&amp;P 500 represents a potential upside of 7% from current levels.</p>

Mumbai, Apr 28 () The Reserve Bank of India (<keyword id="30067" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="RBI">RBI</keyword>) on Tuesday said its employees have decided to contribute salary of one or more days totalling Rs 7.30 crore towards the <keyword id="8972742" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="pm-cares-fund">PM-CARES Fund</keyword>. To help people affected by any kind of emergency or distress situation like the one posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has set up a public charitable trust named Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) to receive contributions from various sources, the central bank said in a statement.<br /><br /> "Responding to the call to support this noble cause, the employees of the Reserve Bank have decided to contribute one or more days salary to the PM-CARES Fund," the RBI said.<br /><br /> The total contribution from the employees amounting to Rs 7.30 crore is being remitted to the PM-CARES Fund, it said.<br /><br /> The COVID-19 pandemic and the related dislocation in normal economic activity have severely affected economically weaker sections of the society and their means of livelihood.

Mumbai, Apr 4 () State-owned Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) on Saturday said the government has nominated it for collection of donations for PM-Cares Fund.<p>The Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-Cares Fund) was set up on March 28 to raise money for combating the Covid-19 crisis and to provide relief to the affected.</p><p>"Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), has been nominated by the government for collection of funds, which will be used to support the community during the Coronavirus outbreak. The funds will be assigned to PM-Cares Fund," the bank said in a statement.</p><p>The contributions can be made by RTGS, NEFT, IMPS, cheques and demand drafts drawn in favour of PM-Cares Fund.</p><p>One can also remit contributions directly by electronic clearing system (ECS) to the designated savings bank account of Indian Overseas Bank.</p><p>All such contributions will be entitled to 100 per cent income tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.</p><p>Political leaders, corporates, defence personnel, employees of PSUs such as Railways and Bollywood personalities are among a cross-section of organisations and people who have announced their contribution to the PM-Cares Fund.</p><p>All officials of the external affairs ministry are also donating a day's salary, while some of them are voluntarily donating more.</p>The Army, Navy and Indian Air Force as well as employees of the defence ministry have decided to donate one day's salary totalling around Rs 500 crore. New Delhi, Apr 3 () Agrochemical firm UPL Limited on Friday pledged to contribute Rs 75 crore to PM-CARES fund in assisting the government to fight against the coronavirus pandemic which has claimed the lives of over 50 people and infected more than 2,300 others.<p>The Mumbai-based agricultural solutions company has also kept on standby the premises of its educational institutions such as Gyan Dham School and Sandra Shroff Rofel College of Nursing, both at Vapi in Gujarat, with necessary arrangements to operate as quarantine centres as and when required, it said.</p><p>It is also continuously providing large numbers of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontline healthcare and sanitisation workers who are fighting the battle against the novel coronavirus, the company said in a statement.</p><p>Jai Shroff, the CEO of UPL Limited, said: "These are very challenging times for the entire mankind, and we find ourselves duty-bound to serve the nation and assist with our resources and expertise in this critical fight. As a responsible corporate, we remain committed to support the government of India and various state governments in every possible manner."</p><p>The company said that it is additionally supplementing the Central and state governments' efforts by engaging 200 modern mechanical spraying machines (falcons) and 225 staff members to contain the spread of coronavirus.</p><p>The company teams are assisting local administrations by providing services of disinfectant spraying at various public and private spaces such as hospitals, streets, police stations, railway stations, municipal corporations among others.</p><p>Tushar Trivedi, Head, AFS, UPL said: "We recognise that keeping public spaces disinfected is one of the most important aspects in checking the spread of coronavirus. Upon call from the authorities, we quickly aligned our resources and deputed our mechanised spraying vehicles to disinfect public spaces with Sodium Hypochloride provided by the government".</p><p>The company has so far sprayed 11.5 lakh litre of disinfectant solution Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, and is working to extend the exercise to other states as identified by the government.</p><p>UPL has also mobilised its operational capabilities to manufacture hand sanitisers produced as per the WHO guidelines for distribution to police and municipal corporations.</p>The Union Health Ministry said on Friday that there have been 2,301 cases of COVID-19 in India and 56 deaths, out of which 12 were reported since Thursday. New Delhi, Mar 31 () State-run REC on Tuesday pledged Rs 150 crore under PM CARES fund to fight against COVID-19.<p> "REC Limited... has pledged to donate Rs 150 crore to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund to support India's fight against coronavirus", a PFC statement said.</p><p> Besides, the one-time contribution to the newly-formed emergency fund, REC's employees will voluntarily contribute one day's salary to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF). </p><p> REC is committed to participating in corporate India's response to COVID-19 through funds, community welfare plans and through leveraging its expertise to offer assistance, the company said.</p><p> On Monday, Power Minister R K Singh had tweeted, "We feel honoured to share that the public sector undertakings of the ministries of power and MNRE have decided to contribute Rs 925 crore to the PM CARES fund with Rs 445 crore being deposited on 31st of March and remaining in the first week of April." </p> REC is a financier of the power-sector projects under the administrative control of Ministry of Power.
