This notion may be rooted in the fact that depression commonly affects women. </p><p>About <a href="https://www.mhanational.org/depression-women" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one in eight</a> American women will develop clinical <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/what-is-depression" target="_blank" rel="noopener">depression</a> during their lifetime. Moreover, women are almost <a href="https://www.samhsa.gov/data/sites/default/files/cbhsq-reports/NSDUHDetailedTabs2017/NSDUHDetailedTabs2017.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">twice as likely as men</a> to experience symptoms of depression, which may be due to certain <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4478054/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">societal, hormonal, and biological factors</a> unique to women.  </p><p>Here are six things Manly wants women living with depression to know.</p><h2>1. The key signs aren't always obvious</h2><p>Some <a href="https://adaa.org/find-help-for/women/depression" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signs of depression in women</a> are easier to spot — like <a href="https://www.insider.com/why-am-i-always-hungry-2018-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">changes in appetite</a> or sleeping habits, irritability, or feelings of hopelessness.</p><p>But Manly says you and your loved ones may brush off or fail to notice other key symptoms. "Given that many women struggle with feeling exhausted and overworked, this important sign of depression is often confused with <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/burnout" target="_blank" rel="noopener">burnout</a> or lack of sleep," Manly says.</li><li><strong>Decreased interest in sexual activity:</strong> <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/sex-relationships/low-sex-drive-in-women" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Low libido</a> can relate to natural hormonal fluctuations, exhaustion, or stress, but it can also happen as a sign of depression, according to Manly.</li><li><strong>Drinking too much: </strong>Increased substance use can be both a cause and a coping mechanism when it comes to depression, Manly says. <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/conditions-symptoms/signs-of-alcoholism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Drinking in excess</a> can offer a way to mask or numb unwanted emotions. Plus, since society normalizes indulging in alcohol while socializing or relaxing, you may not immediately recognize when your drinking habits have changed.</li><li><strong>Isolation: </strong>Manly says both <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/introvert-vs-extrovert" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extroverts and introverts</a> with depression may avoid even minor social engagements and start seeking out more solitary activities, like watching TV alone instead of participating in your weekly movie night with friends. "Although it's normal and healthy to pare back on activities when restorative time is needed, many women don't realize that depression may manifest through a gradual or sudden shift in the desire to engage with others," she says.</li><li><strong>Overspending: </strong>A <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/259520781_The_Benefits_of_Retail_Therapy_Making_Purchase_Decisions_Reduces_Residual_Sadness" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2015 study</a> found making shopping choices can help alleviate sadness by restoring a sense of personal control over your environment. According to Manly, some women with depression may engage in compulsive shopping in an attempt to lift their mood.</li></ul><h2>2. It won't necessarily derail your life completely</h2><p>"Many people assume that women who are depressed languish in bed or are largely unproductive," Manly says.</p><p>According to Manly, a lot of women have what's called "high-functioning depression," which can be more difficult to recognize. You can have depression, even if you can still perform at your job, take care of your kids, or put on a smile at social events. </p><p>"Many women who live with depression intentionally put on a mask of cheerfulness and remain very busy," Manly says.</p><h2>3. Many women going through perimenopause experience rapid changes in mood, depression, and anxiety.</p><p>You're more likely to experience perimenopausal depression if you <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/depression/art-20047725" target="_blank" rel="noopener">go through menopause at a younger age</a>, or if your ovaries are surgically removed.</p><h2>5. Changing habits that fuel depression can be challenging</h2><p>Manly says one of the main challenges in helping women with depression relates to changing the habits perpetuating their depression. This is because depression can negatively affect your energy and motivation.</p><p>"While a woman with depression may very much want to heal, it's often incredibly difficult for her to find the energy and drive to embrace mood-boosting habits," Manly says. "She may come to understand precisely what would help her manage her depression — like leaving a toxic workplace or even <a href="https://www.insider.com/less-exercise-linked-to-higher-risk-of-depression-anxiety-study-2020-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exercising more</a> — but such tasks often feel overwhelming."</p><p>Anxiety or fear can also play a role in keeping women stuck. For example, Manly says a woman may realize her relationship with a difficult or <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/sex-relationships/abusive-relationship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abusive partner</a> lies at the root of her depression, but hesitate to leave the relationship due to fear of change or loneliness. </p><p>Other <a href="https://www.thehotline.org/support-others/why-people-stay-in-an-abusive-relationship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reasons</a> for staying in an abusive relationship might include financial insecurity, dependence on a partner due to a physical disability, and concerns about keeping the family unit together — factors that might also play a part in depression.</p><h2>6. Depression is highly treatable</h2><p>Manly's top piece of advice for women who have or believe they may have depression is to <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/how-to-find-a-therapist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">seek support from a licensed therapist</a>. </p><p>She also suggests finding a local depression support group for women. Support groups not only provide a safe space to share your emotional experiences, but they can also serve as an important reminder that you aren't alone.</p><p>But when it comes to <a href="https://www.insider.com/guides/health/mental-health/do-antidepressants-work" target="_blank" rel="noopener">antidepressants</a>, Manly advises managing your expectations: These medications may ease depression, but they likely won't erase it entirely. They can also take weeks to start working.</p><p>"If depression feels like a 100-pound weight, taking an antidepressant may make the weight feel more like a 60-pound weight," Manly says.</p><p><strong>Important: </strong>Keep in mind that while antidepressants can help relieve some symptoms of depression, they don't help you address any underlying root causes of depression. The tech sector took a beating on Wednesday when the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/shares-of-apple-facebook-google-netflix-and-amazon-lost-172-billion-market-value-2018-10">FAANG companies lost a collective $172 billion in value</a>.</p><p>And that was just the start of the selling. Overnight, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/chinese-stocks-its-utter-carnage-2018-10">Chinese markets were hit extremely hard</a>, with the Shanghai Composite plunging 5.22% to its lowest level in more than four years.  At issues was an escalation in the recent trade tensions between the US and China.</p><p><span>On Wednesday, </span><a href="https://www.ft.com/content/cd325c24-cc32-11e8-b276-b9069bde0956" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin <span>warned China</span></a><span> not to weaken its currency as an alternative to tariffs. Chinese tech stocks are surging

She will have a bail hearing on Friday, Mcleod said.</span></p><p>Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday demanded the US and China "<a href="https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/xwfw_665399/s2510_665401/t1619623.shtml">clarify the reason for the detention"</a> and immediately release the detainee.</p><p>While people are speculating Meng <span>was charged for violating US sanctions on Iran,</span> Huawei's <span>spokesman Chase Skinner said in a statement that the company "has been provided very little information regarding the charges and is <a href="https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/article/2176608/huawei-deputy-chairwoman-sabrina-meng-wanzhou-detained-canadia">not aware of any wrongdoing by Ms Meng</a>," who is also the daughter of Huawei's founder, Ren Zhengfei.</span></p><p>"Huawei complies with all applicable laws and regulations where it operates, including applicable export control and sanction laws and regulations of the UN, US and EU," said <span>Skinner.</span></p><p><span>The December 1 arrest cast doubt on the</span><span> trade truce between Washington and Beijing, who agreed over the weekend to pause tariff escalations for negotiations</span></p><p><span>"We believe this is a clear signal that the trade war is escalating to a new level," said </span><span>Zhiwei Zhang, Deutsche Bank's chief China economist</span>.</p><p><span>"</span>Huawei has been widely recognized as one of the most successful technology companies in China. Chinese tech stocks slide following 'clear signal' the trade war is escalating

<ul><li><keyword id="3820" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mukesh-Ambani">Mukesh Ambani</keyword>, the 9th richest man in the world, and the mastermind behind Jio has big plans and there’s no stopping him.</li><li>Jio’s growth ambitions are being compared to Chinese giants <keyword id="212412" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tencent">Tencent</keyword> and <keyword id="302749" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Alibaba">Alibaba</keyword>.</li><li>Jio has raised over $20.3 billion in investments including the likes of Google and Facebook and they are sold on the promise of the next big tech company. </li><li>Jio, which was launched in 2016, in less than four years went on to become the largest telecom provider in India.</li></ul>Tencent and Alibaba are currently racing to be <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/24/tencent-and-alibaba-in-a-battle-for-title-of-asias-biggest-company.html">Asia’s biggest company</a> - the market capitalisation of both companies is over $600 billion each. Jio’s parent Reliance Industries (RIL)⁠, a conglomerate with businesses ranging from oil and petrochemicals to technology, retail and telecom⁠, is less than a fourth in size but the sheer expanse, and ambition, that Mukesh Ambani has displayed in recent months is causing people to compare.<br /><br />Now, some see Jio as the next Alibaba, and some see it as India’s Tencent. Or is it both rolled into one? “Similar to Alibaba or Tencent which created tech-based ecosystems in China, we find RIL best positioned to create a similar ecosystem in India. In the next two-three years, we expect RIL to have a captive mobile base of over 500 million users,” said a Bank of America report dated July 16.<br /><br /><div type="image" title="Alibaba-and-Jio" msid="77065214" hostid="261"></div><br />“Their idea is to get into a household and see that every activity is done through a Jio service. They are a tech company now and that is very clear,” Satish Meena, Senior Forecast Analyst at Forrester, told Business Insider, adding that Jio is clearly becoming “retail heavy” like Alibaba, one of the world’s largest e-commerce players.<br /><br />  <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="68422829" title="15 deals have given Mukesh Ambani’s ₹8.5 trillion Reliance Industries a distinct makeover" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div><br />Others see it differently. “They want to be the next Google or Tencent of India," said Wylie Fernyhough, <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/20/tech/reliance-jio-ambani-intl-hnk/index.html">an analyst with PitchBook, told CNN.</a><br /><br />Tencent is a Chinese multinational conglomerate with businesses across internet products, entertainment, fintech and many more. <br /><br />  <div type="image" title="Jio Tencent" msid="77059749" hostid="261"></div><br />During the Reliance Annual General Meeting held on July 15, Ambani stressed on the importance of startups in Reliance’s ‘golden decade’ of growth. That’s also what Tencent did in China. <br /><br />“RIL announced potential integration with Indian startups, including helping them with distribution/marketing and access to capital. This could potentially be a step towards acquiring stakes in Indian startups and using WhatsApp traffic to monetize these through a commission model. We note that Tencent has taken a similar approach in China for WeChat, with stakes in platforms such as Meituan, JD, PDD, etc. We see such a move by RIL to be positive for the Indian internet ecosystem,” said a Goldman Sachs report dated July 16. <br /><br />Jio has already invested in over 20 startups since June 2017 and, as Ambani hinted at the shareholders’ meeting, there may be more in the coming weeks and months. “I believe that there is no better partner for Indian start-ups than JIO. We are well positioned to help Indian start-ups in a number of ways. />With Facebook and Google on board with their big cheques, Jio has the push to go ahead with its super app ambitions. “Not many telecoms in the world have this kind of ecosystem control — right from content to music to movies as well as having all the different apps within that ecosystem. Meanwhile, Arvind Singhal, managing director of Technopak, thinks it's foolish to compare Ambani’s plans to those of Tencent or Alibaba. “Many many years ago, people used to say Reliance will be the Walmart of India or the Amazon of India… no Reliance is Reliance, it deserves that credit. Their thinking is very far ahead in all sectors. In this case, Jio along with Retail is one complex piece of a puzzle,” he said. <br /><br />Tencent is a big player in gaming but Jio is still planning to get started with Akash Ambani’s announcement of Jio Console in the 2019 AGM of the company. While making big investments in technology, Ambani is also going big on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/business/news/mukesh-ambani-next-goal-seems-to-be-the-retail-king-of-india/articleshow/76953716.cms">physical retail</a>, where Tencent is not a player, though Alibaba is.<br /><br />Refining and petrochemicals continues to contribute over 60% to the consolidated revenue of RIL⁠. <br /><br />Yet, Ambani has already disclosed his plan to spin out Jio and list it as a separate company. If Alibaba and Tencent are rolled into one, it may look a lot like Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio ⁠— only much smaller for now

"Maybe a more appropriate designation would be PdD in economics - as copper's great predictability is more theory than fact (no offense to the fine PhD economists out there)."</p><p>And so, the nearly 54% drop in copper prices since 2011 is probably not the indicator anyone should peg their recession call on.     </p><p>Still, copper may be a better recession indicator than the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), which officially declares when the economy is shrinking.</p><p>To be clear, its role is not so much to forecast recessions like economists, analysts, and sometimes, copper. However, LaForge added the red arrows in the chart below to note that the bureau is usually late in declaring recessions. China has promised to respond with tariffs on $60 billion worth of US goods.</span></p><p><span>Over the weekend, China canceled trade talks with the US that were planned for the coming days, </span><span>demonstrating its stance to avoid negotiating under threat, </span><span>according to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/china-cancels-trade-talks-with-u-s-amid-escalation-of-tariff-threats-1537581226">The Wall Street Journal</a>, citing sources familiar with the matter. </span><span></span><span></span></p><p><span>As a result, Chinese tech stocks are under pressure. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont).<p>Trump said the two leading Democratic presidential candidates - Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton - could be even worse than President Barack Obama.</p><p>The real-estate mogul said both Clinton and Sanders&#xa0;would not be able to make America great again, referring to his campaign's slogan.</p><p>"If we go four more years with Obama and maybe worse - between either of them, I mean, how about this guy, this socialist Bernie Sanders? I mean, this guy is a total whack job," Trump said to his supporters in Norwalk, Iowa.</p><p>"But let's assume it's Hillary - I mean, let's assume," he continued. "If we go with either of these two people, I'm not sure you ever come back from it. It's going to be an abyss that I'm not sure you can ever bring it back [from]. But we can make America greater than ever before."</p><p>Trump and Sanders have been increasingly criticizing each other on the campaign trail as the Vermont senator has surged in Democratic primary polls.
