In the summer, the temperatures can reach above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. But the weather is also unpredictable. The temperature can be 65 one week and then shoot up to 90 the next. In the winter, temperatures can drop into the low 30s.</li><li><strong>CURRENCY: </strong>The city uses US dollars, and many businesses accept credit cards.</li><li><strong>WALKABILITY:</strong> Atlanta is a walkable city if you're in the Midtown area. MARTA is the local transit system. I suggest using rideshares if you're outside Midtown and don't want to rent a car.</li></ul><h2>Where to stay</h2><h3><strong>The Hilton Inn is close to the airport</strong></h3><p>Located minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and about 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, the <a href="https://affiliate.insider.com?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hilton.com%2Fen%2Fhotels%2Fatlepgi-hilton-garden-inn-atlanta-airport-north%2F" rel="nofollow sponsored">Hilton Inn</a> provides comfortable rooms and great access to the city.</p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/best-and-worst-things-to-buy-in-an-airport-flight-attendants">Airport</a> hotels can be a good choice in a city like Atlanta where things are spread out. MARTA is still accessible if you want to go downtown and to the surrounding areas.</p><p>Room rates start at $149 a night.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> The hotel is conveniently located by the airport and several local restaurants. It also offers an airport shuttle service.</p><h3><strong>The Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center is in a prime downtown location</strong></h3><p>The <a href="https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/atlanta-cnn-center">Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center</a> is the perfect base for walking to local restaurants and lounges. The park has many <a href="https://www.insider.com/best-fall-hikes-in-the-us-2018-10">hiking and walking trails</a>.</p><p>Finally, located 20 miles southwest of the Atlanta airport, <a href="http://cochranmillpark.com/">Cochran Mill Park</a> is mostly flat land, which makes it great for beginners. The park features the ruins of three historical mills and a stunning waterfall.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> Don't forget your bathing suit. Fans of everything from shows such as "<a href="https://www.insider.com/fun-facts-stranger-things-2018-10">Stranger Things</a>" to blockbusters including "<a href="https://www.insider.com/avengers-endgame-cast-hero-transformation-2019-4">Avengers: Endgame</a>" will get a kick out of the available filming-location tours.</p><p>The tours usually last up to three hours, and prices range from $70 to $140.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> Wear comfortable shoes because you'll do plenty of walking.</p><h2>Where to eat and drink</h2><h3><strong>Toast on Lenox has great customer service and amazing food and cocktails</strong></h3><p><a href="https://www.toastonlenoxatl.com/">Toast on Lenox</a> is a Southern-style restaurant nestled in Buckhead, and it's perfect for a quick bite or a cute night out.</p><p>Whether you're dressed up or down, you'll fit in with the quaint and cute decor.</p><p><strong>Tip: </strong>Ask for Bri at the bar if you're looking for a great conversation with a local.</p><h3><strong>The Breakfast Boys is a trendy brunch spot with unique decor and great eats</strong></h3><p>One of Southwest Atlanta's newest restaurants has served the likes of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Cynthia Bailey.</p><p><a href="https://www.eatatbreakfastboys.com/">The Breakfast Boys</a> is perfect for foodies, and it has great service.</p><p>The menu features jerk chicken and sweet-potato waffles and, of course, the traditional shrimp and grits.</p><p><strong>Tip: </strong>Parking isn't always easy to find, but your best bet is to look for a spot on the street.</p><div type="image" title="plate of food at the breakfast boys atlanta georgia" height="2274" width="3024" msid="85813623" hostid="261"></div><h3><strong>JoJo's Beloved Cocktail Lounge is a 1970s-themed bar</strong></h3><p><a href="https://www.jojosbeloved.com/">JoJo's Beloved</a> is the perfect spot if you want a unique 1970s spot that plays Donna Summer and Chaka Khan hits.</p><p>If you're in the mood for a good drink, then this is your best option.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> It's reservation only. There's free parking in the <a href="https://www.secureparkingusa.com/parking-location/dwell-garage/">Dwell parking garage</a> nearby.</p><h2>Final tips before your trip</h2><div type="image" title="centennial olympic park atlanta georgia" height="3024" width="4032" msid="85813630" hostid="261"></div><ul><li><strong>Food is a huge deal in Atlanta. </strong>Atlanta is known for its brunches, so don't forget to dress to impress. They can also last hours, so be prepared.</li><li><strong>MARTA is the best form of transportation if you want to cut down on your Uber bill.</strong> Another option is renting a car because MARTA doesn't reach everywhere in the city.</li><li><strong>Visit in the fall if you're looking for mild weather. </strong>The summer months can be a little brutal with temperatures reaching 100 degrees Fahrenheit. This included a shocking loss to Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for best rap album, to which Macklemore later <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/macklemore-to-kendrick-lamar-after-grammys-you-got-robbed-20140127">apologized to Lamar</a> in a publicized text, saying, "You got robbed." </p><p>In 2015, Lamar came to the Grammys with a certified-platinum album that critics universally deemed a masterpiece in "To Pimp a Butterfly."</p><p>An overtly political and radically artistic meditation on America and the black experience, which notably inspired the likes of <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/nov/24/david-bowie-blackstar-inspired-by-kendrick-lamar-features-lcd-james-murphy">David Bowie</a> and <a href="https://pitchfork.com/news/62469-president-obama-says-kendrick-lamars-how-much-a-dollar-cost-was-his-favorite-song-of-2015/">Barack Obama</a>, "To Pimp a Butterfly" lost the album of the year award to Taylor Swift, another apolitical pop star.</p><p>Kanye West, who in 2016 called the Grammys' awarding system<span> "<a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/grammys-ceo-responds-to-kanye-west-criticism-our-doors-are-always-open-20160224">way off and completely out of touch</a></span>," has also lost the album of the year category three times for three deserving, critically acclaimed, and commercially successful rap albums. </p><p>When Adele won album of the year at the 2017 Grammys, beating out Beyoncé's rap-influenced album "Lemonade," she used her acceptance speech to recognize the culturally significant work that "Lemonade" was. </p><p>"<span>A piece of me died inside," Adele <a href="http://people.com/music/grammys-2017-adele-breaks-grammy-half/">later told the press</a> of winning over Beyoncé.</span><span> "I felt like it was her time to win. <p>The sprawling festival was even bigger than years past with four stages of music that featured acts like Jack White, Vampire Weekend, Outkast, and the Strokes. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/governors-ball-2013-mud-pictures-2013-6">Unlike last year</a>, the weather was perfect - bright sunny skies and warm temperatures continued throughout the weekend.</p>
<p>We headed down to the festival to check out what it was all about. </p>

<p>"I am looking forward to running at the end of this year or next year. [I'm] waiting to see if I meet all of the qualifications!" he <a href="http://music.blog.ajc.com/2015/01/26/2-chainz-wants-to-run-for-mayor-of-college-park/">told the Atlanta Journal Constitution</a> in an interview published Tuesday.</p>
<p>It was unclear how serious he was about the claim. In another interview on the topic the day before, 2 Chainz, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, said, "I'm a musician, not a politician." </p>
<p>"I'm supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing. I'm really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park," he <a href="http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2015/01/2-chainz-wants-run-mayor-hometown/?utm_source=rss&amp;utm_medium=rss&amp;utm_campaign=2-chainz-wants-run-mayor-hometown">told XXL magazine</a>.</p>
<p>The rapper is not a complete stranger to <keyword id="6358883" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Politics">politics</keyword> - or at least policy debates. Earlier this month, he had <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/nancy-grace-2-chainz-debate-legalizing-pot-2015-1">a high-profile television showdown</a> with HLN talk-show host Nancy Grace on whether marijuana should be legalized. 2 Chainz was representing the pro-legalization point of view. </p>
<p><span>If he runs, 2 Chainz would be challenging veteran incumbent Mayor <span>Jack Longino, according to the Journal Constitution. College Park is a relatively small city near Atlanta, with less than 20,000 residents.</span></span></p>

<p class="p1">The two awkwardly addressed the "new Republican party" to the Coachella scene referring to the concertgoers as "homeslices" who they were sure have seen their commercials during "Meet the Press."<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">The duo tried to gain support for reducing regulations on small business but only managed to get a rousing round of applause from the crowd after mentioning gay marriage - before revealing the GOP's plans to discuss it less moving forward.<span style="line-height: 1.5em;"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">Rand Paul (Brooks Wheelan) also appeared DJ'ing about the NSA while Bobby Jindal (Nasim Pedrad) appeared on stage after taking "something called 'Molly' backstage."</p>

"That's when you know that it's time to get out."</p><p>So, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/how-facebook-engineer-lars-rasmussen-said-goodbye-to-go-to-weav-2015-6">Rasmussen bid Facebook farewell</a>&#xa0;in April and threw himself into the startup, called Weav, full-time.&#xa0;</p><p>The <a href="http://weav.io/">company has created</a> both mixing software for musicians and a player that can be embedded in third-party apps. Right now, the products are in closed beta, and Rasmussen says he expects that to continue for the next several months.&#xa0;</p><p><span>He envisions Weav being used in a lot of different ways, but most obviously by anyone doing a workout who wants their music to feel like it's moving with them. Similarly, a dance instructor could teach her students a new routine more easily with the same song, starting with a slower tempo and then moving up to faster speeds.&#xa0;</span></p><div><div><div class="vimeo-embed-container"><iframe src="//player.vimeo.com/video/128124066?autoplay=0&amp;loop=0" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div></div></div><p class="embed-spacer"></p><p>That idea might sound familiar: In May,&#xa0;<a href="https://www.spotify.com/us/running/">Spotify announced "Running,</a>" a new feature that will play users songs based on how fast they're moving.</p><p>Rasmussen doesn't to see this as a threat, but rather an indication of Spotify as a potential partner. Because Weav wants to integrate its technology into other apps, he envisions Spotify Running being filled with songs created by artists who used its music mixing software.</p><p>The key right now i<span style="line-height: 1.5em;">s getting musicians to experiment with it.&#xa0;Dean Gillard and Matt Ward, two well-respected producers who have <a href="http://www.universalmusic.com/corporate/detail/2743">wo</a></span><a href="http://www.universalmusic.com/corporate/detail/2743">rked for&#xa0;Rihanna, Usher, and OutKast</a>, among others, have already made new music through Weav. You can check out their track as well as several others made by &#xa0;different composers <a href="https://vimeo.com/weavmusic">on the company's Vimeo page. </a></p><p>Rasmussen says the feedback so far has been good.</p><p>"They've told us that we've added an extra dimension. We like the analogy that if they were painters, it's as if we've invented a three-dimensional canvas," he says. "The quality of the art is still up to the artist - we're not manipulating anyone's existing work - but we're providing a new way to deliver music to fans. And that's an exciting challenge."</p><p>This isn't Rasmussen's first startup. Back in 2003, he and his brother founded a mapping company called Where2 Technologies that Google acquired a year later. The technology became the basis for Google Maps, and Rasmussen continued to work at Google for the next 6+ years before moving to Facebook. He's happy to be back in startup land.&#xa0;</p><p>"I had missed the different kind of intensity of that 'started-in-our-living-room' type of project," he says. "I kept myself a little in the startup world by doing some advising, and I felt myself a little bit envious when I talked to those guys. So, it was a tough decision to leave Facebook, but it was definitely the right decision.
