It’s been a long-standing perception that women spend more on fashion, so much so that men are almost excused when it comes to fashion shopping. However, the time has come that this this perception be changed.

A survey of India's top fashion-focused ecommerce platforms has shown that men are bigger spenders on fashion as compared to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Women-are-massively-overpaying-for-a-common-purchase/articleshow/52858337.cms">women</a>. 
 
What men shop includes higher value items than women, so even if the length of their shopping list is less, it makes them surpass women in terms of money spent. Fashion portals like Myntra, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Flipkart-CEO-informs-employees-of-Jabong-acquisition-with-a-mail/articleshow/53417554.cms">Jabong </a>and Abof were a part of this survey, as reported by <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/industry/services/retail/men-splurge-more-on-higher-value-fashion-items-than-women-on-online-portals-myntra-abof-and-others/articleshow/53442669.cms">ET</a>. 
 
"Men shop for higher-value items than women, about 40 per cent higher in footwear and 10 per cent higher in clothing. This is because men are more inclined towards buying branded products compared to women where purchases are higher in non-branded section," a Flipkart spokesperson confirmed. 
 
The reason, one might think, is the convenience of shopping from the comfort of your home, without having to take out time to go to the markets or <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/Model-Shops-and-Establishments-Act-2015/articleshow/52972408.cms">malls </a>to shop. We are already seeing consumer-facing companies adopting automation to better manage their stocks by reducing congestion in stores, and restocking efficiently. The Growing Trend Of Online Shopping Cart Abandonment Will Create New Winners And Losers In E-Commerce

	Who knew that shopping apps affect men and women differently? Fifty per cent of the total respondents don’t endorse the app-only move by some e-retailers. Not only that, Adam is more affected by app-only stores whereas it doesn’t really matter to Eve. 
	 “I think the reason is lot of people like to sit down and shop on their desktop. It makes browsing easier. 	Though we all know that mobile, electronics and fashion are the most popular categories for shopping for both the genders, women are more driven by cashbacks and coupons than men. 
 

	“I guess women like the idea of spending money and getting some of it back,” said Swati. 
	 
	 

	

	Did you know that mode of payment vary from men to women too? Though Mobile Wallets like Paytm are gaining popularity with close to 20 per cent of respondents using it as their mode of payment, Adam actually prefers transactions with cards while Eve would go for cash-on-delivery first. 
	 
	 

	

	Adam and Eve also differ in their choices of categories that people are not comfortable buying online like real estate, medicines and high-end jewellery. Female are less wary to buy real estate online than men. 
 

	“Also, most of the women were like we won’t buy jewellery online. I think that kind of trust has still not come. They prefer to check the jewellery and the certificate before buying,” she said.

As of 10 a.m., sales online have already totaled $840 million, measuring nearly 17% growth year over year.Smartphones are one of the biggest drivers of that growth, with 44.6% of site visits, and nearly 30% of revenue generated. Traffic from phones increased 21% over last year, while revenue generated from phones grew 41% when compared to last year - a new growth record.Part of this is due to the fact that everyone keeps their smartphones on them at all time, but another is because of the fact that mobile experiences have been refined through apps and integration with mobile wallet services like Apple Pay."More of [Cyber Monday shopping] will be happening on smartphones ... where smoother buying experiences through auto-fill capabilities are helping drive the growth we see in mobile," Tamara Gaffney, Adobe Analytics' head of Strategic Insights Engagement Group, said in a prepared statement on the data.For example, Apple Pay's integration allows users to avoid entering any kind of personal or delivery information and instead allows you to make a purchase immediately with just a thumbprint or face scan.Most retailers have undergone pains to make their app experiences more streamlined as well, reducing the number of steps it takes to get from the shopping basket screen to the order confirmation screen.Smartphones are also contributing to <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/smartphones-are-killing-black-friday-2017-11">sales growth on Thanksgiving</a> over Black Friday, counting for 46% of all retailer traffic according to Adobe - an increase of more than 15% over last year. As you head to your local department and electronics stores to buy sweaters and gadgets this holiday season, you may notice something different: fewer crowds. 
Where have all the shoppers gone? A significant number have opted to skip the lines at the mall and buy gifts online instead.
In August 2014, YuMe surveyed nearly 1,000 customers about their holiday shopping preferences. Nearly 68% of the respondents said that they planned to do most of their holiday shopping online this year. 
Those who do plan to shop at brick-and-mortar stores will still be online via their phones: 47% will add to their shopping experience by looking up competitor pricing and products, and 43% will be reading product reviews. 
The conclusion is that if retailers want to reach customers, they'll have to focus on where they're actually shopping: online. That means targeting tablets, smartphones, and computers with discounts, promotions, and video preroll.
