Bollywood superstar <keyword id="6354583" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="salman-khan">Salman Khan</keyword> has invested in homegrown short-form video app <keyword id="40682" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chingari">Chingari</keyword>, the company announced on Friday. With Salman as <keyword id="3123392" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-brand-ambassador">global brand ambassador</keyword> and investor, Chingari said it is looking to augment its position as the market leader. The company, however, did not disclose the funding amount from Salman. The news came as Bengaluru-based telecommunication firm <keyword id="113830" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="OnMobile">OnMobile</keyword> led a $13 million (nearly ₹95 crore) funding round in Chingari on Thursday. "It is our pleasure to have Salman on-board as one of our global brand ambassador and investor. We are confident that our association will power Chingari to scale greater heights in the near future," said Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder and CEO, Chingari. The app currently has more than 56 million users in India. Bollywood actor Salman Khan invests in short-form video app Chingari

Bengaluru-based telecommunication firm <keyword id="113830" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="OnMobile">OnMobile</keyword> has led a $13 million (nearly ₹95 crore) <keyword id="708591" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Funding-Round">funding round</keyword> in homegrown short-form video <keyword id="235499" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="APP">app</keyword> <keyword id="40682" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chingari">Chingari</keyword>, the companies announced on Thursday. As part of the deal, OnMobile will integrate and distribute its direct-to-consumer gaming platform, ONMO, on the Chingari app and collaborate on other mobile product integrations to serve millions of users. On the other hand, Chingari will use the funds to enhance its content portfolio, hire top talent and accelerate its growing user base. Chingari said that the investment will help it accelerate its growth from 56 million users to over 100 million users. Indian short video app Chingari gets $13 million cheque from Bengaluru-based telecommunication firm OnMobile

New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) Bengaluru-headquartered mobile entertainment platform OnMobile Global Limited has announced a 25 per cent equity stake acquisition in Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based analytics startup rob0 through its subsidiary Onmobile Global Solutions Canada Ltd, in exchange for an investment of CAD 1 million (approximately Rs 5.4 crore). This transaction will allow rob0 to accelerate its growth as the most innovative AI-powered visual retention analytics solution for video game developers, OnMobile said in a statement on Sunday. The company also said that this transaction sets the table for OnMobile to soon introduce a one-of-a-kind gaming offering. "We are very excited about this strategic investment. The combination of OnMobile and rob0 will provide immediate business value and will be the springboard to our enriched mobile gaming offering," Francois-Charles Sirois, Chairman &amp; Chief Executive Officer, OnMobile Global Limited, said in a statement. "Furthermore, it will bring tremendous value to game developers wanting to make their games highly engaging to end-users." New Delhi, Mar 24 () OnMobile Global Limited has acquired 25 per cent equity stake in Technologies rob0 Inc (rob0) through its Canadian subsidiary for 1 million Canadian dollar (about Rs 5.4 crore), a move aimed at adding new technologies for growing mobile games subscription business of the group. "OnMobile has acquired a 25 per cent equity stake in rob0, through its subsidiary, Onmobile Global Solutions Canada Ltd, in exchange for an investment of CAD 1,000,000. This transaction will allow rob0 to accelerate its growth as the most innovative AI-powered visual retention analytics solution for video game developers," OnMobile said in a statement on Saturday. The company will have the option of investing an additional CAD 1 million within 9 months after closing, OnMobile said in a regulatory filing. "We are very excited about this strategic investment. The combination of OnMobile and rob0 will provide immediate business value and will be the springboard to our enriched mobile gaming offering," OnMobile Global Ltd Chairman and CEO François-Charles Sirois said. OnMobile acquires 25 pc stake in Technologies rob0 Inc

New Delhi, Nov 21 () IT company Onmobile Global on Thursday said it has collaborated with Gionee, owned by the Jaina Group, to build and manage its mobile entertainment ecosystem.
 Gionee, has entered into an agreement with OnMobile to launch its portfolio of products including contests, games, themes, tones, and videos, the Bengaluru-based firm said in a regulatory filing.
 Onmobile provides contests with interesting and contextual topics to an estimated over 12 million active users.
 Besides this, it also offers mobile game subscription services, high-definition tones with an extensive music catalogue and video streaming solutions that cater to a host of viewership tastes and needs.
 Around 15 per cent of the overall revenue generated from the Contest services will be invested in gratification to drive engagement, the filing said.
 "We are thrilled to bring our top revenue-generating products to the users of Gionee phones," Onmobile President and Chief Operating Officer said Sanjay Bhambri said.
 Gionee Managing Director Pardeep Jain said "we believe that OnMobile's portfolio of products will provide our phone users with engaging and rewarding experiences wherein the Gionee consumers will get a chance to win reward prizes worth up to Rs 2,000 in various forms like cashback, vouchers and Gionee products."

The platform said it will use the funds to enhance technology, launch new features and augment the tech team. The app is planning to soon launch its live-streaming, socio-commerce and audio chat features. With over 110 million downloads, <keyword id="12270967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="chingari" source="Orion">Chingari</keyword> said it has witnessed a two-fold increase in its user base since April 2021. The short-video making app aims to take its user base to 200 million by the end of this year. "This new funding will further strengthen our position and help us deliver an immersive user experience for our community," said Sumit Ghosh, Co-founder and CEO, Chingari. With 35 million monthly active users (MAUs), the app is aiming to further increase user engagement by strengething local content portfolio with more than 20 languages on the platform. Republic Capital led the latest funding with participation from Onmobile, JPIN Venture Catalysts, Hill Harbour, Angellist, Venture Collective, Makan Family, Cowa Ventures, MVC Friends, Protocol Labs and other HNI family offices. The platform recently launched a crypto token ‘$GARI' to make content monetisation more mainstream in the country.

The company has highlighted that they have raised this round in the form of stablecoins — USDC and Tether — which are less volatile and are backed by US dollars. The company will use this capital to build its own token called $GARI with the decentralised computing platform Solana, which is powered by blockchain technology. These tokens would further help the platform grow creator monetisation. “While crypto experiences a rapid expansion in India, $GARI is poised to make it mainstream. We are infusing the two, through robust strategies and incorporation of the most-promising industry advances,” Sumit Ghosh, cofounder and chief executive of Chingari, said in a statement. Chingari believes that these tokens are a critical element of the platform, which will enable the creators to set up their ecommerce space, with physical merchandise, non-fungible tokens (NFT) and the ability for fans to fund their favourite artists. Chingari raises $19 million in crypto tokens to launch its own crypto token

New Delhi, Apr 14 () Consumer electronics major Samsung India on Tuesday committed Rs 20 crore towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of its commitment, Samsung will donate Rs 15 crore to the PM-CARES Fund and Rs 5 crore to relief funds of state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, where it operates manufacturing units, the company said in a statement. Samsung is already providing support to the local administration and community in Noida by equipping hospitals with medical equipment required in the preventive drive against the pandemic along with infra-red thermometers, public addressal systems and air purifiers, it said. Samsung is also providing food packets to local communities in Noida on a daily basis. "In our continuous endeavour to support the fight against Covid-19, Samsung today pledged a contribution of Rs 20 crore to the Union and State governments in India. Samsung will be donating Rs 15 crore to the PM Cares Fund, and Rs 5 crore to the states of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, to support the country's challenge against the pandemic," Samsung said. In addition, employees of the company across India are contributing a portion of their salaries. The company said it will match the employee contributions and donate the total amount to the PM-CARES Fund in the coming weeks. According to the latest report from the Union Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 10,363, with the death toll at 339. Over the last few weeks, Samsung has also hastened deliveries of digital X-ray and digital ultrasound machines that it provides to government hospitals as part of its Samsung Smart Healthcare program. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced extension of the nationwide lockdown till May 3 in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, in a BSE filing on Tuesday, OnMobile Global said it is contributing Rs 50 lakh from its CSR fund to the PM-CARES Fund. Corporate India has been rushing in to help the government and citizens fight the pandemic in India. Samsung India commits Rs 20 cr in fight against COVID-19

WS Retail, the largest seller on India's biggest online marketplace <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, nearly tripled its turnover to Rs 10,163 crore in FY15. It is more than the combined sales of top brick-and-mortal retailers such as Shoppers Stop, Future Lifestyle, Tata's Trent and <keyword id="6359480" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aditya-Birla">Aditya Birla</keyword> Group's Pantaloons. 

	According to industry experts, these numbers offer a sneak peek into Flipkart's likely performance for the year given WS Retail's dominant position on the e-commerce website. 
 The six-year-old company was set up by Flipkart's founders <keyword id="225032" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sachin-Bansal">Sachin Bansal</keyword> and Binny Bansal because India doesn't allow foreign-backed e-commerce companies to sell directly to consumers. WS Retail was selling nearly 80% of its merchandise to Flipkart but seeing that regulators were not happy with existing government legislation, the Bansals sold their stake to former OnMobile Global COO Rajeev Kuchhal and a clutch of investors three years ago. Their contribution has since declined from 80% to 30% and Flipkart is aiming to more than triple its third-party sellers by the end of this year to reduce its dependence on WS Retail and convert itself into a full-fledged marketplace like <keyword id="541988" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="SnapDeal">Snapdeal</keyword>. 

	"Flipkart has been reducing its dependence on WS Retail in its effort to simplify its business structure. It is expected that such a step and simultaneous addition of new vendors on its website directly shall automatically reduce the trading volume of WS Retail over time," Rakesh Nangia, founder and managing partner at tax and transaction advisory firm Nangia &amp; Co, told ET.
 

	In fact a few months ago, Flipkart informed several companies and brands, who sell on the site through WS Retail, to directly sell their products to consumers. However, WS Retail will continue to be the seller for Flipkart exclusives such as the Motorola and Xiaomi handsets.
