India’s number one app-only cab service, Ola, has roped in Infosys veteran Rajiv Bansal as its chief financial officer. 
 
Mitesh Shah, who is currently the CFO at Ola, will now lead strategic finance initiatives. 
 
"Rajiv's understanding and expertise in the finance domain is extremely valuable for us at this juncture of growth," said Bhavish Aggarwal, cofounder and CEO, Ola. 
 
The race between two taxi aggregators, Ola and Uber, is getting interesting and full of sharp turns. 
 The <keyword id="3150948" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="valuation-of-Ola">valuation of Ola</keyword>, which is the number one app-only taxi booking company in India, has increased now. After the recent $500 million, or Rs 3,300 crore fundraise, Ola is now a $5 billion firm. 
 
This funding round was important for Ola, whose value was $2.5 billion in April, to overpower Uber. 
 
Ola is penetrating into Indian market like never before and has operations in over 100 cities, getting most of the revenue from 20 cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. 
 
Among others, one of the major investors of Ola was China's biggest taxi aggregator Didi Kuaidi, which is looking to dethrone Uber globally. 
 
"As we pursue our mission to build mobility for a billion people, we are excited about bringing onboard partners who can help us get there faster. We will continue to build for the local market through innovative solution," cofounder and chief executive Bhavish Aggarwal had said. 
 
Meanwhile, Uber, which is world's most valuable startup with an estimated worth of about $50 billion, is closing in the gap and is also said to invest $1 billion in India. 
 
Both, Ola and Uber, have nearly 2,50,000 drivers in India.

Infosys’ Rajiv Bansal is Ola’s new Chief Financial Officer

Pallav Singh has been given the additional responsibility as interim CFO. 
 Also, <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword>'s chief marketing officer <keyword id="2237351" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Raghuvesh-Sarup">Raghuvesh Sarup</keyword> has also resigned and his replacement has not been decided yet. 
 Bansal, former <keyword id="6354512" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Infosys">Infosys</keyword> CFO, joined Ola one year back. His exit comes in the wake of ongoing rift between founders and board of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=infosys&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Infosys</a>.

Ola sees top level exits; CFO Rajiv Bansal, CMO Sarup quit

Ex-colleagues of <a href="http://businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Rajiv+Bansal&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Rajiv Bansal</a>, who quit his position as CFO of India's largest ride-hailing app <a href="http://businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Ola&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Ola</a>, think that he was a misfit in the company and made things difficult. 
 Some of the employees feel that under Bansal, the <keyword id="4177046" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="finance-team">finance team</keyword> at <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword> created processes that had the inadvertent effect of slowing down operations. 
 
"He (Bansal) is to the point, means business - a transaction-oriented person rather than one who cultivates relationships," one person familiar with his working style at Ola told ET. 
 He was also termed as a boss who was difficult to deal with by many <keyword id="3295800" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola-employees">Ola employees</keyword>. 
 
"He could be a tough boss," an employee who had worked with him at Ola told ET. 
 
Some of the Ola employees think that Bansal made things difficult and processes long. 
 
"If one set of clearance was needed, they (Bansal's finance team) increased it to four. This increased confrontations in the (Ola) office across departments, and many threatened top management that it is either us or them," an Ola executive, told ET. 
 
However, as per the industry experts, this is after all, what a CFO is tasked to do i.e. ask tough questions of the CEO.

Tiwari, former CTO of Cellworks as well as an ex-Googler, will be working towards optimizing growth and profitability by bringing in necessary efficiencies in the supply chain function. 
 
Meanwhile, Kharb, who was earlier VP - Production Engineering at <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=inmobi&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">InMobi</a>, will strengthen efficiencies in <keyword id="6354720" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ola">Ola</keyword>’s technology infrastructure including site operability, compliance and data systems. 
 
“Ola has consistently invested in technology, consolidating supply chain and building a robust technological backbone, by bringing onboard, world class talent. They bring in relevant and significant experience with large technology businesses and they have an integral role to play in Ola’s aspirations to create innovative solutions that will efficiently solve for the diverse mobility needs of the country,” said CTO and Co-founder at Ola Ankit Bhati. 
 
The team will work closely with the supply chain team to help create a better experience for customers and driver partners alike, by building solutions that will effectively optimize use of vehicles on the platform, reduce deviations in routes, and improve matching of customer with drivers, among others. 
 
In last month, Ola has made significant appointments. Ola hired Dr Badri Raghavan as Chief Data Scientist, Vishal Kaul as Chief Operating Officer and Shalabh Seth as CEO of Ola Fleet Technologies.

Bhavish Aggarwal is reportedly stepping away from day-to-day functions of Ola to focus more on tech

New Delhi, Mar 2 () Infosys on Monday said it has paid Rs 6 lakh as compounding fees in the matter related to severance agreement with former CFO Rajiv Bansal. In November last year, Infosys (along with certain current and former key managerial personnel) submitted applications with the Registrar of Companies for compounding of certain alleged offences that pertain to matters related to the severance agreement executed with Bansal in October 2015. Generally, compoundable offences are those which can be settled by paying certain amount of money. Through the compounding process, it had sought to resolve the alleged offences. "The Regional Director (South East Region) vide its orders dated February 25, 2020, (received on March 2, 2020) has agreed to compound the alleged offences applied for, subject to payment of compounding fees of Rs 6 lakh..." Infosys said in its filing on Monday. It added that these compounding fees have been paid. The fee of Rs 6 lakh consists of Rs 1.5 lakh in respect of each application for each alleged offence by the company and Rs 25,000 by each of the current and former key managerial personnel for each alleged offence, the filing said. In its application, Infosys had sought to resolve the alleged offence relating to the company not seeking prior and separate approvals required under the Act from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Audit Committee and the Board of Directors and not making requisite disclosures. Infosys had agreed to pay Bansal a severance amount of Rs 17.38 crore or 24 months of salary, but the company suspended payments after he got Rs 5 crore as co-founder N R Narayana Murthy and others objected to the package as excessive. Earlier, chief executive officer (CEO) Dahiya was planning to sell shares worth ₹250 crore but it was later reduced to ₹30 crore. Chief financial officer (CFO) Bansal, on the other hand, has reduced his offer for sale from ₹95 crore to ₹ 12.7 crore.
