Speaking at the Make in Odisha Conclave here on Thursday, Sinha said the four power discoms of Odisha, where Tata Power has a majority stake, are committed to Rs 6,000 crore capex investment in the next five years. Sinha said the company will also set up 1,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points, 1,00,000 solar pumps, microgrids, rooftop and floating <keyword id="6453229" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="solar-plants" source="Orion">solar plants</keyword> in the next five years. He welcomed the Odisha government's Renewable Energy Policy 2022 unveiled at the Make In Odisha Conclave here. The Tata Power CEO said the company has been engaged in power distribution across Odisha and is committed to ensure ease-of-doing business through quality power supply. "Tata Power is committed to ensure 'Udyog Ru Pragati' (progress through entrepreneurship) by offering high-quality and affordable power supply to enable a conducive environment for industrial development. Our clean and green energy products and solutions in e-mobility, decentralised generation, agriculture, and demand side management will further ensure an all-round sustainable development of the state," Sinha said. He said Tata Power is also working with Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in deploying charging infrastructure at multi-level car parking lots and public utilities like hospitals, universities, malls, and at important city hubs. The company is also in early stages to explore the development of green hydrogen hubs in the Paradeep region to meet industrial demands, he said, adding that Tata Power is also working towards the solarization of the agriculture sector in association with the state government. The company has already installed over 700 solar pumps in addition to 1,200 dual pump for community drinking application across the state. It has planned to install 30,000 solar pumps over the next five years, he said.  The eastern states of Odisha and West Bengal got into a bitter battle for the sweet – with both states claiming be the place of its origin. Two years ago, it seemed that West Bengal won the battle by getting a GI tag for the sweet. However, Odisha too received a GI tag for its own version of the rasgulla, the milk-based sweet. According to the certificate from the Geographical Indication Registry of the Government of India, the Odisha Small Industries Corporation Limited (OSIC) and Utkala Mistanna Byabasayee Samiti (Utkala Sweetmakers Business Body) will be the proprietors for Odisha’s rasgulla. The Odisha government also dedicated a day to the sweet on July 25, 2017 called Rasagola Dibas (Rasgulla Day) and later celebrating it on July 16. The government had then fought for a GI tag claiming that the sweet was offered in the Jagannath temple of Puri, one of the country’s most famous temples.

Odisha has registered the highest single-day spike of 4340 Covid-19 positive cases and a record 16 deaths in the last 24 hours, said a health official on Thursday. With this, the state's total positive count climbed to 1,96,888 while the death toll touched 752.The number of active cases in the state increased to 38,818 while 1,57,265 patients have recovered so far, the official said. While Khordha district recorded five fresh fatalities including 3 in Bhubaneswar, four deaths were reported in Puri district and two in Kendrapara district. One death each was recorded in Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Rayagada and Subarnapur districts. Of the total fresh cases, 2517 have been reported from different quarantine centres while 1823 were local contacts. Khordha registered the highest 653 fresh cases followed by Cuttack (567), Puri (203), Jagatsinghpur (193), Jharsuguda (174), Balasore (162), Angul (155) and Jajpur (151 cases). Seventeen districts recorded over 100 positive cases in the last 24 hours. More than 29.56 lakh tests have been conducted in the state so far. An e-auction was conducted by the Odisha government for the block, situated in Malkangiri district, <keyword id="105382" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="ambuja-cements" source="Orion">Ambuja Cements</keyword> said in regulatory filings. The <keyword id="6367820" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="adani-group" source="Orion">Adani Group</keyword> firm has not disclosed the bid amount for the block but said it is spread over an area of 547 hectares with an estimated limestone resource of about 141 million tonnes. "The company shall get the statutory licences and permits related to mining operations to be declared a 'successful bidder' and subsequently enter into a 'Mine Development and Production Agreement (MDPA)' with Government of Odisha to commence the mining operation," it said. Preferred bidders are those who are selected by the vendor with the intention to sell the business or award a contract, subject to the completion of terms and conditions. Ambuja Cements with its subsidiary ACC Ltd has a capacity of 67.5 million tonnes with 14 integrated cement manufacturing plants and 16 cement grinding units across the country.
