Suleman, whose real name is Natalie Denise Suleman, was ordered to appear in court on Friday, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said in a statement. She was not immediately taken into custody.
Suleman was charged Jan. 6 with one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application. If convicted, she could face up to five years and eight months in jail.
Efforts to reach Suleman for comment through recent associates were not immediately successful. There is no telephone listing for her in Orange, where she most recently lived.
Suleman, 38, was already the mother of six children when she gave birth to octuplets at a California hospital on Jan. 26, 2009.
All 14 of her children were conceived through in vitro fertility treatments. Her octuplets are the world's longest-surviving set.
Since their birth, the single mother has tried to support her huge family in a variety of ways, including endorsing birth control for pets, making a pornographic video, posing for semi-nude photo shoots and participating in celebrity boxing matches.
Last year she spent several weeks in a rehabilitation center for what her former publicist said was anxiety, exhaustion and stress.

The mother, Halima Cisse, gave birth Tuesday to five girls and four boys, Siby said, according to a <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/05/africa/mali-nine-babies-intl-scli/index.html">CNN</a> report. Doctors had missed two of the babies during ultrasounds in Mali and in <keyword id="10331" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Morocco">Morocco</keyword>, according to Siby.Cisse gave birth in Morocco, according to a report from <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/5/malian-woman-gives-birth-to-nine-babies">Al Jazeera</a>.All nine of the babies were delivered by C-section, Siby said, according to the reports. The mom and her nine children are all doing well, he said, adding that Cisse and her babies would return home in several weeks.According to the <a href="https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2021/4/a-history-of-record-breaking-births-650288">Guinness Book of World Records</a>, the world record for most surviving babies delivered at one time is held by <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/see-how-octomom-nadya-suleman-birthed-her-way-straight-to-the-welfare-line-2012-4">Nadya Suleman</a>, the woman known as Octomom. In 2009, Suleman gave birth to octuplets, six boys and two girls.Moroccan health officials have not yet confirmed the births, according to the reports.

In addition to the babies, the couple live with Kristina's 6-year-old from a previous relationship and one of Galip's nine older children.Experts say that though the family's size is extremely unusual, it's not necessarily an unhealthy dynamic, especially if the Ozturks have the money and emotional resources to support their children."What is important is the environment: Is it safe, is it nurturing, are basic needs met, is there trust and communication?" <a href="https://crmcounseling.net/staff/kendall-phillips/">Kendall Phillips</a>, a licensed professional counselor, told Insider. "As long as those elements are in place and those who are in charge of the family are mentally and emotionally stable, then the size doesn't matter."<h2>Forming a secure attachment</h2>It's critical for child development that babies form a secure attachment with an adult; this helps them interact with the world with trust rather than distrust. And this can happen even in a family as big as the Ozturks', Phillips said."If infants, toddlers, and children are raised in a safe and trusting environment that is consistent and comfortable, there should not be problems with attachment," she said.To provide that environment, the Ozturks rely on 16 live-in nannies and a variety of personal chefs, cleaners, and assistants, Kristina said on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/batumi_mama/?hl=en">Instagram</a>, adding that the nannies were not assigned specific children but rotated.<a href="https://amfmtreatment.com/staff/">Meghan Marcum</a>, a psychologist, said this setup could still lead to meaningful bonds."It is possible for a caregiver like a nanny to provide a secure attachment, and this is often the case when both parents are working full-time jobs," she said.<h2>The challenges of so many siblings</h2>The Ozturks' babies are extremely close in age:<ul><li>One 19-month-old: Mustafa</li><li>Three 18-month-olds: Mariam, Ayrin, and Alisa</li><li>Two 17-month-olds: Hasan and Judi</li><li>Three 16-month-olds: Harper, Teresa, and Huseyin</li><li>Two 15-month-olds: Anna and Isabella</li><li>Three 14-month-olds: Ismail, Mehmet, and Ahmet</li><li>Two 13-month-olds: Ali and Kristina</li><li>Two 12-month-olds: Sara and Lokman</li><li>One 11-month-old: Galip</li><li>One 9-month-old: Olivia</li><li>One 3-month-old: Judy</li></ul>Marcum said that typically the advantage of having siblings close in age is that they provide one another with playmates; on the other hand, being close in age can lead to sibling rivalry.Phillips said there's no predicting how siblings will bond. She said she'd worked with twins who weren't close and with siblings with a large age gap who were."Relationships in general, even siblings, come down to personalities and the general makeup of the family and its dynamics," she said. "Age becomes less of a factor over time and life choices may become a factor over time."<h2>Giving grace</h2>People are fascinated by extremes, Marcum said, and the publicity around the Ozturk family is an example of that.Many people were critical of the "Octomom," Natalie Suleman, who birthed octuplets in 2009, but that family <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/15/style/octomom-kids-2018.html">appears to be thriving</a>, Phillips said."It is not traditional to have many children," she said, "but if those who choose to do so can do it with love, comfort, care, safety, and trust, then I can't think of any drawbacks."

The other <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multiple_births#Nonuplets_(9)">set was born in Malaysia in 1999.</a> All the babies died the day they were delivered.<a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/05/06/994244064/nonuplets-woman-from-mali-gives-birth-to-9-babies">A Guinness World Records representative told NPR</a> that they have yet to officially verify this record and that "the wellbeing of both the mother and babies are of top priority." The previous record was held by Nadya Suleman, also known as "octomom," who gave birth to eight babies in 2009.<h2>The care of both babies and mom was so complex it required them to move to Morocco</h2>According to <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-56994408">the BBC</a>, Cisse was admitted to the hospital at 25 weeks of gestation and the medical team taking care of her was able to delay the birth of her babies until 30 weeks. Ten doctors and 25 paramedics were involved in the birth of the premature babies.The nonuplets include four brothers (Mohammed, Bah, El Hadji, Oumar) and five sisters (Hawa, Adama, Fatouma, Oumou, Kadidia). They join their older sister, Souda, who is 2.Cisse said that she was still recovering from the pregnancy and a difficult delivery, according to the Daily Mail. Her stomach alone weighed about 65 pounds, and <a href="https://www.insider.com/common-pregnancy-complications-2018-11">the cesarean delivery was complicated</a>, with lots of blood loss that left her weak. The babies, <a href="https://www.insider.com/minnesota-baby-worlds-most-premature-baby-turned-1-2021-6">who weighed between 1 and 2 pounds at birth</a>, are all still in the neonatal intensive-care unit."Giving birth to one child is hard enough, but having nine is unimaginable," Cisse told the Daily Mail. "It's astonishing the amount of work that is involved in looking after them."For now, Cisse has all the help she needs in a team of 35 care providers. The government of Mali is footing the bill for the family's care, which is estimated to cost more than $1 million.The couple has a three-bedroom house in Timbuktu, Mali. Arby works as a sailor in the Malian navy. The logistics of being parents to 10 children are daunting, but for now Arby said he's focused his wife and nine new family members doing well."There are a lot of things to work out about the future, but for now we are just focused on looking after our babies and getting them home," he told the Daily Mail. "The big concern for me is not the size of my house, how many rooms we have or money, but making sure that my wife and children are OK."
