ONGC is hiring to fill over 900 posts with a maximum salary of ₹98,000 per month

New Delhi, Mar 16 () State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (<keyword id="6354737" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword>) on Monday declared an interim dividend of Rs 5 per share, giving the government Rs 3,950 crore.In a regulatory filing, ONGC said its board of directors met on Monday and "declared an interim dividend of Rs 5 per equity share of Rs 5 each." The government, which owns 62.78 per cent stake in ONGC, will get Rs 3,949 crore in dividend and taxes. ONGC shares ended 8.73 per cent down to close at Rs 60.15 apiece on the BSE. ANZ ANUANU

ONGC declares Rs 5 interim dividend, govt to get Rs 3,950 cr

The final report on the gas dispute between the state-owned ONGC and Reliance Industries was submitted, stating that natural gas worth more than Rs 11,000 crore migrated from idling ONGC’s KG fields to adjacent KG-D6 block. 
 
US-based consultant DeGolyer and MacNaughton (D&amp;M) submitted its final report to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), a senior government official said here. 
 
"The report more-or-less reiterates what D&amp;M had stated in the draft report that some gas had indeed migrated from ONGC's Krishna Godavari basin blocks to RIL's KG-D6 fields", he said. 
 
Now, the report will be examined to conclude that on how and to what extend should ONGC be compensated for its gas being produced by RIL. 
 
"The Supreme Court had in its order (on ONGC petition on its gas being produced by RIL) stated that government will have to in six months from the date of receipt of D&amp;M report decide on addressing ONGC contention. That we will do,” the government official said. 
 
D&amp;M, in its report, established that reservoirs in ONGC's Krishna Godavari basin KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) and the Godavari Producing Mining Lease (PML) are connected with Dhirubhai-1 and 3 (D1 &amp; D3) field located in the KG-DWN-98/3 (KG-D6) Block of RIL. 
 
It states that as much as 11.122 billion cubic meters of ONGC gas has migrated from Godavari-PML and KG-DWN-98/2 to KG-D6. 
 
Of the 58.68 bcm of gas produced from KG-D6 block since April 1, 2009, 49.69 bcm belongs to RIL and 8.981 bcm could have come from ONGC's side, D&amp;M said. 
 
At gas price of $4.2 per million British thermal unit, the volume of gas belonging to ONGC which RIL has produced comes to $1.7 billion (Rs 11,055 crore). 
 
ONGC had in 2013 claimed that RIL had deliberately drilled wells close to the common boundary of the blocks and that some gas it pumped out was from its adjoining block. 
 
RIL, on the other hand, has maintained that it has "scrupulously followed every aspect of the production sharing contract and has confined its petroleum operations within the (boundaries of its) KG-D6 block" in Krishna Godavari basin. 
 
D&amp;M estimated that ONGC's Godavari-PML had 14.209 bcm of gross in-place reserves and KG-D5 another 11.856 bcm. RIL's D&amp;D3 fields held 80.697 bcm gross in-place reserves. 
 
Of these, 12.80 bcm of Godavari-PML, 8.01 bcm of KG-D5 and 75.33 bcm of KG-D6 are connected, it said. 
 
It estimated that 11.89 bcm of gas from ONGC blocks would have migrated to KG-D6 by January 1, 2017. This volume would rise to 12.713 bcm by May 1, 2019. 
 
The volume of gas remaining after this would not be economically viable for ONGC to develop. 
 
D&amp;M was jointly appointed by ONGC and RIL to find if the neighbouring fields are connected.

Mukesh Ambani might soon find himself paying a hefty compensation to ONGC

The ONGC-RIL standoff over extracting gas from <keyword id="938659" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="KG-blocks">KG blocks</keyword> refuses to die out. 
 The state-owned <keyword id="6354737" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword> has accused Mukesh Ambani’s RIL of a "well-planned and deliberate strategy" to produce about USD 1.4 billion worth of its gas over past six years. 
 
ONGC also demanded that RIL should pay full compensation with 18 per cent interest. 
 
The state-owned firm also alleged that in 2001 and 2007, Reliance Industries had acquired seismic data to study hydrocarbon reservoir lying several hundred meters below the sea-bed not just in its Bay of Bengal KG-D6 block but also of neighbouring blocks of ONGC without the knowledge of the state-owned firm. 
 
The data acquired by RIL established that Dhirubhai-1 and 3 (D1&amp;D3) gas fields in its KG-D6 block have a considerable extension into ONGC's adjoining blocks KG-DWN-98/2 (KG-D5) and Godvari PML, the state-owned firm said in a written submission to the AP Shah Committee looking into the gas dispute between the two firms. 
 
"RIL concealed and did not reveal the data to ONGC," the company alleged. "RIL drilled its production wells at such locations (close to common boundary of the blocks) and with such angles so as to extract maximum gas from reservoirs falling under ONGC's blocks." 
 
When contacted, RIL spokesperson said, "We deny all the allegations. We are confident of demonstrating that we have worked absolutely within our entitlement and there has been no impropriety on our part whatsoever."

Amid gloomy oil price scenario, India is being seen as a bright spot in global energy industry, thanks to state-run <keyword id="6354737" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="ONGC">ONGC</keyword>’s efforts. 
 
Jon Fredrick Muller, senior project manager at the Oslo-based Rystad Energy AS, said that what was driving the Indian energy demand growth was strong economic performances and the increasing middle class spending. 
 
He also lauded Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for taking a lead in calling tenders for chartering of offshore drilling rigs and support vessels of upstream projects. 
 
"This makes India a bright spot for the industry,” he said. 
 
"ONGC has not cut down Exploration &amp; Production spending like most other national oil companies have done so. They have kept their demand up, they have needs for their deep-water drilling equipment -- floaters and jack-ups for shallow water, as well as Offshore Support Vessels," said Geir Sjurseth, managing director, global head for offshore finance at DVB Bank SE. 
 
"They (ONGC) are issuing tenders which have attracted both national and international companies that would like to supply their equipment, as longer term employment opportunities in other markets are difficult," he said. 
 
Experts noted that ONGC was enjoying attractive rates. 
 
"ONGC have charter/hired offshore rigs and vessels at 30-40 per cent lower rates than previous contracts," said Manav Kumar, president and director of Singapore-based Dynamic Drilling Holdco Pte Ltd. 
 
The Indian government is emphasising the ONGC-led industry to cut import dependence by 10 per cent in next seven years to 68 per cent, the industry sources said. 
 
"Overall, India represents a huge opportunity for upstream sector because of the large exploration activities and field redevelopment plans of the Indian companies," said one delegate.

Reliance has sought bids for sale of 0.65 million standard cubic meters per day from CBM block SP(West)-CBM-2001/1 for one year beginning April 1, 2023, the company's tender document showed. It asked bidders to quote a variable 'v' as a percentage of dated Brent crude oil price. Starting bid price has been kept as 15 per cent of Brent ('v' = 15 per cent). At the current Brent price of USD 85 per barrel, this translates into a price of USD 12.75 per mmBtu. e-bidding will happen on February 24. ONGC has offered 0.015 mmscmd of gas from North Karanpura (NK) block in Jharkhand for 3 years. It asked bidders to quote a premium 'p' as a percentage of Brent price. The reserve or bid start price has been kept at 11 per cent of Dated Brent price (USD 9.35 per mmBtu at Brent oil price of USD 85 per barrel). Price of gas "shall be higher of the reserve gas price plus quoted premium (p) or floor price plus quoted premium (p)," ONGC said. The floor price will be USD 1 per mmBtu higher than the domestic gas price (which currently is USD 8.57 per mmBtu). The e-auction of ONGC gas will take place on March 2, it said. CBM is an unconventional form of natural gas found in coal deposits or coal seams. Just like natural gas, it can be used to produce electricity and as feedstock for fertilisers, industrial uses such as in cement production, rolling mills, steel plants, and for methanol production. It can also be compressed into CNG for use as fuel in automobiles or piped to household kitchens for cooking. While the government every six months fixes the price of natural gas produced from conventional fields, the pricing of gas from coal seams, called CBM, is free or market-determined. The minimum price ONGC is seeking in the latest tender is less than what it had sought for CBM from a Bokaro block in Jharkhand last year. In June 2022, ONGC invited bids for the sale of 0.20 mmscmd at a reserve or floor price of 14 per cent of the Dated Brent crude oil price plus USD 1 per million British thermal unit, the sale tender had shown. Bidders will have to quote a premium they are willing to offer over that reserve price. The floor price was the government-mandated price for domestic natural gas plus a USD 1 per mmBtu mark-up. The "Contract Gas price shall be the higher of the 14 per cent of Dated Brent Price plus USD 1 per mmBtu plus 'P' (the biddable parameter); or the floor price," it had said. At the current Brent crude oil price of USD 85 per barrel, the reserve gas price came to USD 12.9 per mmBtu in that tender. In March last year, Reliance sold <keyword id="922877" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="CBM-Gas" source="Orion">CBM gas</keyword> from the Madhya Pradesh block at a big premium to firms, including <keyword id="12051518" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="gail" botkeyword="" source="ET" sourcekeytype="COMPANY" meta.keywordsubtype="EQ" meta.aliasname="gail" meta.entityname="GAIL (India) Ltd." meta.entityid="4845" meta.seoname="gail-(india)-ltd">GAIL</keyword>, GSPC and Shell. The firm had sought bids at a premium over the base of 13.2 per cent of Brent crude oil prices. At the then Brent crude oil price of USD 115 per barrel, the base came to USD 15.18 per mmBtu and adding USD 8.28 premium bid by state-owned gas utility GAIL and other firms, the final price was USD 23.46 per mmBtu.
