As per information received from the White Knight Corps, the anti-filtration operation named "Operation Kanchi" was conducted based on information obtained from intelligence agencies and the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding an infiltration bid. The search operation was conducted in the general area of the Lam region of Nowshera. Taking to social media platform X, the White Knight Corps stated, "Based on inputs from intelligence agencies and Jammu-Kashmir Police regarding a likely infiltration bid, an anti-infiltration Operation was launched by Indian Army on the intervening night of 08-09 Sep 24 in general area Lam, Nowshera. Two terrorists have been neutralised and a large quantity of war like stores including Two AK-47s and one Pistol thus far recovered." The anti-infiltration operation is still underway in the region. Earlier on August 29, the Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. "Credible inputs were received from intelligence agencies, which was further corroborated by J-K Police regarding likely infiltration attempts from these areas. Based on the inputs, troops of the Indian Army, JKP and BSF laid ambushes on likely infiltration routes in both Machhal and Tangdhar sectors," as per an official press release. At approximately 8 PM, the ambush teams in the Machhal sector observed the movement of terrorists through thick foliage, approximately 600 metres on their side of LoC. The infiltrating terrorists were challenged and immediately an intense exchange of fire ensued. Meanwhile, in the Tangdhar sector also, at approximately 9 PM, there was an exchange of fire between security forces and infiltrating terrorists approximately 100 metres on their side of the LoC. Both sectors witnessed heavy exchanges of fire. In this firefight, two terrorists were eliminated in the Machhal sector and one in the Tangdhar sector.

Though there was no exchange of fire, a massive search operation is underway in both areas to ensure that there is no infiltration from across the border, they said. Alert Army troops fired after picking up suspicious movement of three to four infiltrators in a forward area in the Battal sector of Akhnoor on the outskirts of Jammu around 1.30 am, the officials said. The area was illuminated with flares and put under surveillance through drones with reinforcements mobilised to lay a tight cordon. A search operation was launched at first light, they said. The Army troops also fired a few rounds on noticing suspicious movement in a forward area in the Sunderbani-Nowshera sector in Rajouri district around 12.30 am. A search of the area along the LoC is also underway, they added. Security has been beefed up across Jammu and Kashmir in view of the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, which granted a special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.

Both the deaths took place at SKIMS hospital in Soura area of the city here, the officials said. A 79-year-old man from Nowshera area of Srinagar, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at 11:15 pm on Thursday night, the officials said. They said the patient was admitted to the hospital on June 8 and was suffering from hypertension, hypothyroidism, with bilateral chest infiltrate. He had contact history with a positive patient, they said. In another death at the hospital, an 80-year-old man from Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district passed away at 9 am in Friday, the officials said. They said the patient suffering from hypertension and cardiac failure was admitted to the hospital on June 17. This would include geographic quarantine, social distancing measures, enhanced active surveillance, testing all suspected cases, isolation of cases, quarantine of contacts and risk communication to create awareness among the public on preventive public health measures,” said the Ministry of Health. The difference between a hotspot and a containment zone is that the former are not seized but largely monitored for suspected cases. However, when a place is declared as containment zones, the areas are completely sealed, and no outdoor or indoor movements are allowed until permitted by the authorities. Srinagar has over 15 Coronavirus containment zones- accounts for most of the J&K cases

The Indian Air Force (IAF), civil administration authorities and the Indian Army are carrying out a massive rescue operation at Tato in <keyword id="46408" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arunachal-Pradesh">Arunachal Pradesh</keyword>, after an AN-32 aircraft crashed. The aircraft went on a mission on June 3 with 13 people on board. The IAF found the wreckage of the plane on June 11, and is now searching for the survivors. <ul><li>After years of silence on the border, India-China relations took a turn for the worse during the violent clash between troops along the border in Galwan Valley.</li><li>Former diplomat, Rajiv Bhatia, believes there’s a three-fold explanation for why China chose to escalate things — tactical, regional, and global.</li><li>In an interview with Business Insider, he explained why its not merely a distraction tactic from what’s happening domestically with China.</li></ul>The recent clash between Chinese and Indian troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Galwan Valley has many people wondering why China suddenly chose to turn aggressive towards India. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="76438507" title="The next few days are going to be stormy for India and China say a former diplomat and retired lieutenant general" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div> Former diplomat and a distinguished fellow with Mumbai-based thinktank Gateway House, Rajiv Bhatia, believes that the build-up was happening for a while and it’s not a distraction tactic as the second wave of coronavirus pandemic takes hold on China. And, it would have taken weeks of preparations to pull off. The diplomatic toolkit is one weapon that India has to respond to China’s push — like postponing the Russia-India-China summit or calling a special session of QUAD. The use of air force <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/iaf-air-strike-mirage-awacs-sukhoi-popeye-jaish-training-camp-balakot-5602272/">was</a> the first since India fought Pakistan in 1971. The target terror camp struck by India was <keyword id="6355098" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="LoC">loc</keyword>ated in Balakot, about 50 miles from the LOC. The air strike came in the wake of a suicide bomber attack on February 14 in Pulwama, Kashmir that killed over 40 security personnel. India has so far emphasised it's air raid on Tuesday was ‘pre-emptive’ and ‘non-military’, signaling it didn't wish to escalate the conflict. India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/india/balakot-strike-sushma-swaraj-india-pakistan-5602424/">told</a> diplomats from China and Russia that “India will continue to act with responsibility and restrain.” On Wednesday, in the wake of the violation of India’s air space, Pakistani foreign ministry also said it “had no intention of escalation” but was “fully prepared to do so if forced into that paradigm” Reuters reported. Both US and China have asked the two countries to act with restraint. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/india/us-secretary-of-state-urges-india-pak-to-de-escalate-tensions-prioritise-communication-5602472/">asked</a> India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and to prioritise communication. On Tuesday, China had also urged both countries to exercise restraint, and stressing for “cooperation” by the two countries in the interest of peace and stability in the South Asia region.
