Nifty wasn't far behind, inching up over 1% during the day to close at 25790.95. What is driving this rally? And this is not just the secondary market. The primary market, i.e. IPO subscriptions are also witnessing a stellar surge in investor interest. The IPOs of Northern Arc Capital and Arkade Developers, which closed yesterday, were oversubscribed 117 times and 113 times, respectively, largely on the back of significant investments made via the QIB and NII categories. But the question is, what is driving this frenzy, which comes on the heels of the Fed's recent announcement slashing interest rates by a significant 50 basis points? Experts explain that the most direct impact of the rate cut comes in the form of higher <keyword id="20078820" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="foreign-capital-inflows" source="keywords">foreign capital inflows</keyword> into emerging markets like India. The impending anticipation of this is what is driving the rally witnessed in the stock market today. As per data from NSDL’s FPI monitor, foreign investors infused a net total of Rs 2,341.64 crore in Indian equity markets via stock exchanges, as of September 19th, 2024. Data shows that September has seen inflows of around Rs 27,862 crores in first half of September. This is around 4 times the flows seen during the entire month of August. Just within this week (till September 19), FPI inflows have touched Rs 5,419 crores. Palka Arora Chopra. Director, <keyword id="23251477" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Master-Capital-Services" source="keywords">Master Capital Services</keyword> Ltd explains that the current upswing in the stock market results from market forecasts of increased foreign inflows into India following the Fed rate decrease. “This, combined with the fact that US jobless claims are at their lowest since May 2024, have alleviated concerns about the US labor market failing, rather, it is simply slowing down. This is also why the Dow Jones Industrial Averages and S&amp;P 500 index surged to 1.7%, and Asia saw a rise in markets across Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong”, she continued. Riding on the tide of higher foreign inflows is the strengthening of Indian Rupee. Already, the rupee has regained strength from a high of 84.0 to 83.7 over the last week, and this trend may continue in the near term. Santosh Meena, Head of Research, Swastika Investmart Ltd notes that historically, emerging markets tend to outperform during the onset of a rate-cut cycle in the U.S. “Indian markets, backed by robust fundamentals, remain resilient despite concerns over valuations. Large-cap stocks, particularly in the private banking sector, continue to look attractive, fueling the current bullish momentum. This positive trend is expected to persist unless significant negative developments arise on the domestic or global front”, he highlights. Mr. Pradeep Gupta, Co-founder &amp; Vice-chairman, Anand Rathi Group notes that this rate cut comes with some short-term benefits for the country, which means stronger rupee and potential capital inflows. "A stronger rupee would make imports cheaper, potentially improving India’s trade balance. However, these advantages may be temporary if the US economy continues to weaken. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may follow the Fed’s lead but not immediately. Improved global sentiment could drive a rally in <keyword id="19991358" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="Indian-markets" source="keywords">Indian markets</keyword>, as emerging economies like India become more attractive to investors", notes Gupta. But note that in the longer term, the direction of the Indian stock market will depend largely on global economic conditions, and particularly the health of the US economy. If the US achieves a “soft landing”, as is targeted by Fed, and avoids a recession, Indian equities may experience gradual growth. However, if the global outlook deteriorates, Indian markets—especially mid and small-cap segments, could come face to face with increased volatility and market downturns. <h2>What should your investment strategy be?</h2>SEBI registered Investment Advisor Gaurav Goel advises having a thorough look at your portfolio whenever the equity markets hit a fresh high. Look, it is practically impossible to time the markets. But, as a smart investor, markets hitting a fresh high is a good time to rebalance your portfolio, so that you can cushion your funds from any significant downturn that will invariably stem from any market downturns thereafter "When equities hit all time highs, there is a natural tendency of equity component of your asset allocation to breach the prescribed asset allocation. In such a situation, on should reassess the asset allocation and shave off excess percentages from the equity allocation to revert to the mean". Goel also suggests hedging a portion of your portfolio by buying naked long dated put options on benchmark index like Nifty 50. This way, you'd be able to benefit from a decrease in the prices of underlying assets, without having to own it. But most importantly, "At these crests, its important to shuffle your portfolio. Remove the crap, low-value stocks that might have made their in your portfolio during bullish phase, and replace with high quality stocks. Shift your assets more toward the large cap stocks/index funds where the volatility would be less or towards sector/market caps, which are less expensive on valuations", Goel continued. As for traders looking to make the most of the ongoing upward trajectory of the market, Osho Krishan, Senior Analyst, Technical &amp; Derivatives, Angel One, advises "capitalizing on the upward momentum by taking profits, rather than adopting an aggressive stance in the overbought territory". "From a technical perspective, we have entered a phase where the market is overbought, as indicated by various metrics. Therefore, it is crucial to avoid complacency and instead adopt a practical and realistic approach to the current situation", he continued. Anirudh Garg- Founder and Fund Manager at Invasset PMS explains that "When markets hit an all-time high, investors need to reassess their strategies to navigate potential risks while still capitalizing on opportunities. However, it’s essential to understand that not every market high signals overvaluation. There’s a key difference between markets reaching record levels and being fundamentally expensive. Identifying this distinction helps avoid premature decisions based solely on market peaks". "In particular, when mid-cap and small-cap stocks exhibit stretched valuations, investors should shift their focus to high-quality companies. These are firms with robust balance sheets, consistent earnings growth, and strong competitive advantages, often found in sectors linked to steady inflation", says Garg. Naturally, quality stocks tend to be more resilient in volatile environments, offering stability and better protection against downside risk. Also, don't forget to keep an eye out for the risk-reward ratio, which becomes critical during expensive markets. This involves diversifying portfolios, avoiding overexposure to overheated sectors, and focusing on capital preservation while seeking reasonable returns. Indian markets surging to all time highs today: What's happening post Fed decision?

The Rs 260.04 crore IPO of <keyword id="23568743" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Deepak-Builders" source="keywords">Deepak Builders</keyword> and Engineers, which went live yesterday, received a thumping response from <keyword id="19972907" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="retail-investors" source="keywords">retail investors</keyword>, who oversubscribed to the issue by 16x. In effect, retail investors bid for 7,20,24,282 shares as opposed to 44,83,500 shares, or 35% of the issue that is reserved for them. The issue, worth Rs 260.04 crore, is a combination of a fresh issue of about Rs 217.21 crore and an OFS (offer for sale) of Rs 42.83 crore. With a price band of Rs 192-203, the company will list on the bourses on Monday, October 28, 2024, with allotment finalization happening on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Retail investors can bid for a minimum of 1 lot, which consists of 73 shares. The minimum required investment to participate in this IPO is Rs 14,819, while the maximum is Rs 1,92,647. The company's last traded GMP (grey market premium) today was Rs 61. This takes its estimated listing price to Rs 264, and the expected listing gains at 30.05% per share. <h2>Should you invest?</h2> The company has a strong presence in northern India, with multiple projects across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, and Delhi. The company currently oversees twelve ongoing projects, including seven EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects and five contracts based on item or percentage rates. As of June 30, 2024, the company’s <keyword id="20162999" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="order-book" source="keywords">order book</keyword> totals Rs 13,803.89 million for FY 2024, up from Rs 11,126.88 million for FY23. The company's revenue from operations also went up from Rs 3,630.52 million in FY22 to Rs 5,114.02 million in FY24. Consequently, its PAT (profit after tax) jumped to Rs 604.1 million in FY24, up from Rs 213.95 million in FY23 and Rs 176.79 million in FY22. Its EPS (earnings per share), considered a reliable measure of profitability, also inched up substantially from 4.92 in FY22 to 16.84 in FY24. Per the company's prospectus, proceeds from the IPO will be used to repay borrowings, meet working capital requirements, and for other general corporate purposes. Financial analysts have recommended subscribing to the IPO for long-term investment, citing the company's steady <keyword id="20748625" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="financial-growth" source="keywords">financial growth</keyword> over the past few years. However, the issue is not without its share of risks. For instance, most of the company's projects are concentrated in Punjab. As of June 30, 2024, about 33.02% of the company's revenue from operations came from Punjab-based projects. Moreover, the company's finances have seen meteoric growth over the past few years, raising questions about its sustained continuity. While its EBITDA margin increased from 12.20% in FY 2023 to 22.98% in FY 2024 and 29.92% during the three-month period ended June 30, 2024. Similarly, their profit after tax margin increased from 4.94% in FY2023 to 11.81% in FY 2024 and 13.52% during the three-month period ended June 30, 2024. It Despite these concerns, Bajaj Broking and Anand Rathi's research both recommended subscribing to this IPO. "The company has a diversified project portfolio, which reduces its reliance on a single market segment. At the upper price band, the company is valued at a P/E of 15.6x with a market cap of Rs 9,455 million post-issue of equity shares and a return on net worth of 52.9%. On the valuation front, we believe that the company is fairly priced. Thus, we recommend a “SUBSCRIBE” rating to the IPO," noted Anand Rathi.

New Delhi, Reliance Capital's (RCAP) expression of interest (EOI) for asset monetisation garnered mega response with 60 bids being received. <keyword id="13222" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="SBI">SBI</keyword> Life and Apollo are among the 10 new bidders who have submitted expressions of interest for Reliance Capital's assets, taking the total number of bids to 60. December 1 was earlier the deadline for the submission of EOIs. Over 60 different bids have been received with SBI Capital Markets Limited and JM Financial Services Limited, the advisors to the lenders. Later the date for submitting the bids was extended to December 17. Over eight bidders have bid for entire RCAP assets on an as-is-where-is basis. The prominent among them are Oaktree, J.C. Flower and multiple ARCs. For Reliance General Insurance, which is owned 100% by RCAP, there are 18 bidders and prominent among them are, Chryscap, J.C. Flower, Blackstone, KKR, CVC Capital Partners, and Bain Capital. For Reliance Nippon Life Insurance, in which RCAP owns 51% controlling stake, has received 16 bids, including Bain Capital, NIIF, Arpwood Partners, Dabur Investments, Bandhan Bank, and <keyword id="884924" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Multiples-Asset-Management">Multiples Asset Management</keyword> among others. For Reliance Securities, there are eight bidders, including Bain Capital, Religare Broking, Edelweiss Securities and other ARCs. For Reliance ARC, there are six bidders, including Bain Capital, International Asset Reconstruction Company and other ARCs. For Reliance Health, there are eight bidders - Blackstone, Bain Capital, Arpwood Partners, and other ARCs. There are also multiple bidders for RCAP's stake in ICEX and Paytm E-commerce business. Reliance Capital asset monetization process, to unlock value of its underlying businesses and to make RCAP debt free, was launched on October 31, 2020. This includes 100% stake in Reliance General Insurance Company Limited (RGI). It has a paid up capital of Reliance General Insurance is ₹252 crore as of September 30, 2020. It is the 4th largest <keyword id="10477608" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-general-insurance-company">Private General Insurance Company</keyword> with market share of 4.5% as of March 2020 in the General Insurance category. It has shown consistent growth in AUM Year-on-Year with investment book of ₹12,315 crore as on September 30, 2020. The company performed its best even during COVID times with Gross Direct Premium Income of ₹4,501 crore during the first six months of FY20- 21. It has a strong distribution network of 134 branches with amongst largest agency force of 46,742 as of September 30, 2020 across the country. Bids have been invited for 51% stake in <keyword id="10203731" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="reliance-nippon-life-insurance-company-limited">Reliance Nippon Life Insurance Company Limited</keyword> (RNLI). The paid up capital of Reliance Nippon Life Insurance is ₹1196 Cr. as of September 30, 2020. RNLI is a joint Venture with Japan's largest life insurer - Nippon Life which holds 49 % shareholding. It is the 10th largest <keyword id="10203730" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="private-sector-insurer">Private Sector Insurer</keyword> (in terms of Individual WRP) and amongst largest Non-Banca company with a network of 717 offices. It witnessed sharp turnaround in performance during FY19-20 with a profit after tax of ₹35 crore and 75% growth (12% CAGR) in embedded value over last four years. It has an impressive claim settlement ratio of 98.1% in FY19-20 and a higher Solvency ratio of 207% (as against regulatory requirement of 150%). Also on offer is a 100% stake in Reliance Financial Limited - RBI registered NBFC, engaged in the business of financing, money lending, capital market linked financing activities, 49% stake in Reliance Asset Reconstruction Limited which manages portfolio of ₹1,996 crore as on September 30, 2020. A 20% stake in Indian Commodity Exchange is also being bid. Other key shareholders in ICEX are Central Warehousing Corporation, MMTC Limited, Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited, Indian Potash Limited and Bajaj Holdings and Investments. ICEX is a SEBI regulated commodity derivatives exchange. There is also 100% stake in Reliance Health Insurance Limited. The Indian version of "<keyword id="20621486" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-Night-Manager" source="keywords">The Night Manager</keyword>", starring <keyword id="19908194" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Anil-Kapoor" source="keywords">Anil Kapoor</keyword>, <keyword id="19963248" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aditya-Roy-Kapoor" source="keywords">Aditya Roy Kapoor</keyword> and <keyword id="19902028" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sobhita-Dhulipala" source="keywords">Sobhita Dhulipala</keyword>, has received a nomination in the drama series category at the 2024 International Emmy Awards. "The Night Manager" is the only entry from India across 14 categories at the nominations that were announced on Thursday in New York by the International Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences (IATAS). The series, directed by <keyword id="23240351" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sandeep-Modi" source="keywords">Sandeep Modi</keyword> and <keyword id="23246289" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Priyanka-Ghose" source="keywords">Priyanka Ghose</keyword>, is adapted from both -- the John le Carre's novel and the British show, starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman. "The Night Manager" will compete with French show "Les Gouttes de Dieu" (Drops of God), "The Newsreader - Season 2" from Australia and "Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido" season two from Argentina in the category. Kapur, who essayed the titular Night Manager, said he is happy that his series debut received an International Emmy nod and it is a "big moment" for the entire team. "An Emmy Nomination for my first series.. wow! From day one, we knew that we were creating something special with The Night Manager but for it to receive so much love and recognition across the country, and the world was not something any of us had imagined. This is such a big moment for us all!" he said. In the Indian take, Kapur played Shaan Sengupta, a hotel night manager, who goes undercover to bring down the empire of arms dealer Shaildendra 'Shelly' Rungta (played by Anil Kapoor). Kapoor said he is "ecstatic" over the nomination, which is a "worthy reminder" that hard work always pays off. "It's just been brought to my attention that our Indian adaptation of 'The Night Manager' has been nominated for an International Emmy. I remember when the offer came in, I was conflicted. It offered me the opportunity to play a character so complex, but also, on the other hand, the huge responsibility of trying to add newness and authenticity to a part that had been played so masterfully by Hugh Laurie. 'The Night Manager' nominated in drama series category at International Emmys, Anil Kapoor 'ecstatic'

The IMD has predicted that low pressure may form over the southeast Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas by Tuesday, which will become more pronounced and move in the direction of Tamil Nadu's northern coast in the next 48 hours. The interior parts of the state will also receive heavy rain, as well as the isolated places over the Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri and Coimbatore districts. The weather department also said that Madurai, Virudhunagar and the Cauvery Delta will also witness torrential downpours. The IMD said that from October 1 to November 7, Chennai has received 26 per cent surplus rain and the state as a whole withnessed 43 per cent more downpour than the usual volume. Heavy rain in a short time frame is called mesoscale phenomenon and this cannot be predicted easily, the IMD said. New Delhi, The Northern India Textile Mills' Association (NITMA) has urged the government to raise customs duty on man-made <keyword id="943240" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="yarns">yarns</keyword> to 10% in the <keyword id="4121466" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="upcoming-Union-Budget">upcoming Union Budget</keyword>. The customs duty on man-made yarn is currently at 5%. According to the industry body, monthly average <keyword id="35091" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="imports">imports</keyword> of Virgin Polyester Spun Yarn have increased manifold from 2015 to 2020. Imports from Vietnam alone have increased over 100 times, as per NITMA. Sanjay Garg, President of NITMA said that representations regarding the import concerns have been sent to the ministries of finance and <keyword id="62486" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Textiles">textiles</keyword>. He noted that the man-made yarn sector is one of the largest employment-generating segments within the textile industry and is highly capital and labour-intensive industry as well. Garg was of the view that the unreasonably low-priced imports of man-made yarn into India have been causing considerable amount of injury to domestic manufacturers for around the last five years. In a statement, NITMA said that the surge in imports may damage the domestic man-made fibre (MMF) industry and may lead to non-performing assets and closure of units along with huge employment loss. "As a recapitulation, he (Garg) humbly appealed to the <keyword id="156153" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Finance">Ministry of Finance</keyword> and <keyword id="185304" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Ministry-of-Textiles">Ministry of Textiles</keyword> to consider increasing the customs duty on man-made yarn from its present level of 5% to 10% immediately in the ensuing <keyword id="6360189" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="union-budget">Union Budget</keyword> for the growth and expansion of domestic MMF industry and to prevent mass level loss of employment," the statement said.
