Arihant Infrastructures, CMD, Ashok Chhajer told on Monday that the government should focus on reducing home loan rates. "The government should reduce home loan rates. The affordable housing segment, which is capped at Rs 45 lakh, should be changed to Rs 60-75 lakh which is the average cost of a house in Metro cities and 2-tier cities," said Chhajer. Hiranandani Group MD, Niranjan Hiranandani said the Budget should focus on further investments in roads, railways, ports, airports and highways, as well as slum rehabilitation schemes. "Our Finance Minister will present one more Budget before the country tomorrow. In today's global circumstances, not only India but the entire world is looking at India's budget," PM Modi said. "Amid the unstable global economic situation, India's budget will attempt to meet the hopes and aspirations of the common citizens. The ray of hope being seen by the world grows brighter-for this, I firmly believe that Nirmala Sitharaman will make all efforts to meet those aspirations," PM Modi said while addressing the media. The Prime Minister cited the "credible voices from the world of economy" and said that they have brought a positive message ahead of the session. "Today, the Budget Session is commencing. Credible voices from the world of economy, have brought in a positive message, a ray of hope and a beginning of enthusiasm," he said. The budget session that began on Tuesday with the President's address will take place in 27 sittings till April 6 with a month-long recess to examine the budget papers. The first part of the session will conclude on February 13. Parliament will reconvene on March 12 for the second part of the Budget Session and will conclude on April 6. Nirmala Sitharaman arrives at North Block ahead of Union Budget 2023 today

That’s how much <keyword id="61108" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="North-Central-Railway">North Central Railway</keyword> (NCR) and <keyword id="82627" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="South-Central-Railway">South Central Railway</keyword> (SCR) have levied from its passengers for booking in superfast trains. However, a recent investigation by <keyword id="6356851" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="CAG">CAG</keyword> shows, these ‘superfast’ trains have been delayed almost 95% times. <keyword id="51689" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Railway-Board">Railway Board</keyword> has defined superfast trains as the ones that run at an average speed of 55kmph. Given the fact that most express trains with exception to a handful runs on that speed, passengers are charged extra for most long distance train travels. The study done between 2013-14 to 2015-16 in NCR and SCR shows that these trains reached the destination late between 13.48% and 95.17% of the days on which they ran. In total, 21 superfast trains were delayed on 3,000 days out of 16,804 days because they failed to attain the 'superfast' speed, according to a TOI news report. Currently there is no policy by which the railways will refund money to passengers automatically for delays. It’s only when a person files a ticket deposit against reservation (<keyword id="59440" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="TDR">TDR</keyword>) against a train delayed for more than three hours is a refund possible. Also 'superfast' surcharges vary for different class of coaches. For example, it is Rs 15 for general coaches, Rs 30 for sleeper, Rs 45 for AC (chair car, AC-3 economy, AC-3, AC-2 classes) and Rs 75 for AC First/Executive class which were effective from April 1, 2013, as per the TOI news report. <keyword id="6356295" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Agra">Agra</keyword> divisional commercial manager <keyword id="4798023" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="sanchit-tyagi">Sanchit Tyagi</keyword> told TOI, "There are scores of factors which lead to trains not achieving their superfast speed, thus causing delays. Some the prominent factors are the maintenance of tracks, signal glitches, emergency brakes and accidents which contribute in the late operations of railways."

Within 7 years, they built a functioning high-speed rail system in Morocco, the New York Times reported.California sought to have the first high-speed rail system in the country, but a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/09/us/california-high-speed-rail-politics.html">new report from the Times</a> showed political disagreement on the train's route slowed the ambitious project to a near halt — and raised construction costs by billions. The bullet train system, first proposed in the 1980s, would transport passengers between LA and San Francisco in 2 hours and 40 minutes. The project, approved by a 2008 vote, was meant to cost $33 billion and be completed by 2020.Cut to 2022 and the California Speed Rail Authority now estimates the cost will be $113 billion, the Times reported. Dan McNamara, a project manager for SNCF, told the Times after recommendations made by the company were ignored by the state the company decided to pull out."There were so many things that went wrong," McNamara told the Times. "SNCF was very angry. They told the state they were leaving for North Africa, which was less politically dysfunctional."Many of the issues surrounding the project are tied to different political figures who want the rail route to pass through their cities and regions, the Times reports. New Delhi, Apr 27 () E-commerce giant Amazon India on Monday said it has strengthened its partnership with the Indian Railways and has ramped up its operations to 55 lanes in a bid to enable faster deliveries to customers amid the nationwide lockdown. Last year, Amazon India had partnered with Indian Railways for inter-city transportation of e-commerce packages on 13 lanes, and had also set up pickup kiosks for customers in Kolkata and Mumbai. Amazon India will transport consignments via rail across the country and is leveraging the 'COVID-19 Parcel Special Trains' introduced by the Indian Railways to ramp up its operations to 55 lanes during the lockdown period, it said in a statement. Indian Railways with the support of the Railway Board and the zones across Western, Central, Northern, Eastern, South Central, Southern, South Eastern, North East Frontier, North Western and South Western have created a proactive solution to provide support for transportation during lockdown. "This enhanced network will enable sellers in Amazon India's network to ship their products across the country and keep their businesses running, thereby, allowing people to access a more diverse selection of essential products," the statement said. Amazon India Director (Amazon Transportation Services) Abhinav Singh said with the support of COVID-19 Parcel Special trains introduced by the Indian Railways, the company is confident it can further fulfil customer orders with enhanced speed and capacity. "We are grateful for this timely decision by the Indian Railways to offer freight movement solutions during these challenging times," he added.
