The <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Delhi+Metro+Rail+Corporation&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Delhi Metro Rail Corporation</a> (<keyword id="45312" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="DMRC">DMRC</keyword>) is going to give citizens of <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/searchresult.cms?query=Delhi-NCR&amp;sortorder=effectivedate">Delhi-NCR</a> greenest metro line, which will also be the greenest in entire India. The DMRC is going to build 29.7 km <keyword id="6358143" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Noida-Metro">Noida Metro</keyword> line on <keyword id="70990" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Solar-power">solar power</keyword> within a year. Not only the metro line, solar power will be used to run all 21 stations along with its workplaces and train depot. 
 
Noida Metro will emerge as the most environment friendly Metro project in light of the fact that the entire system will be running on solar power. 
 <keyword id="252738" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Santosh-Yadav">Santosh Yadav</keyword>, the managing director of Noida Metro, said the target for Noida Metro will be generating an amount of 12MW of solar power everyday. In order to do so, solar panels on the rooftops of all stations, footbridges, its main office building, the depot and parking lot boundary walls will be installed. 
 
"We will also apply for a diamond rating for our buildings by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Metro's total power consumption can be reduced further with better engineering practices, sleek design, recycle and reuse,” Yadav told ET. 
 
Supplementary power connection will only be used as backup or when there will be a glitch. The corridor’s power consumption estimated by officials is less than 12 MW. . If there is a surplus, Metro will route it to the conventional power grid and claim a rebate on its power usage, cutting operational costs. 
 
"Each of the stations will be powered by its own green energy. Rooftops of stations will have solar panels and the buildings will fitted with LED bulbs. The two sub-stations that will supply power for trains running on the corridor will also support solar panels,” Yadav told ET. 
 
DMRC is building the corridor and is also recycling construction waste. "Wasted concrete is being used to make kerbstones and tiles, which will be used at stations. We are also using wasted iron for grilles and railings of stations. We are using fly ash in construction, preserving top soil. The water used in our train depot shall be 100% recycled. It will be a zero-discharge facility,” Yadav told ET. 
 Noida Metro Railway Corporation’s headquarters in Sector 29 is going to be the first building in the <keyword id="53426" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="NCR">NCR</keyword> to fully generate its own solar power. "We will generate about 30 kW electricity for the building,” Yadav said.

Earlier, the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) had said that the Delhi Metro would run only in the morning and evening on Monday. Now, it has been confirmed that the metro will be shut down completely till March 31. The DMRC will only run maintenance activities. The Central Industrial Security Force will continue to provide security to the Metro. Noida metro also shut down till March 31 In addition to the DMRC, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has also announced a complete shutdown of metro services till March 31. Apart from this, Noida city bus services have also been completely suspended till March 31. Indian Railways cancels all passenger trains Earlier today, Indian Railways announced that all passenger trains are being cancelled till March 31. Delhi News - Delhi Metro complete shutdown till March 31

New Delhi, Feb 1 (PTI) The Centre has allocated Rs 19,130 crore in the Union Budget 2022-23 for various metro projects in the country. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget on Tuesday. An outlay of Rs 19,130 cr has been made in the Budget for metro projects across the country. In November last year, Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri had said that 723 km of metro network was operational in 18 cities, and additional over 1,000 km of network under construction in various cities. Separately, six new proposals were also being evaluated, he had said. Meanwhile, Delhi Metro officials said in recent years, the Union Ministry of Finance is providing Budget for all metro projects in India, instead of DMRC alone. Accordingly, in Budget 2022-23, allocation made for all metro projects in India is Rs 19,130 cr. The budgetary allocation in the last fiscal for metro projects was Rs 18,978 cr. The DMRC network's current span is nearly 392 km with 286 stations (including the Noida–Greater Noida Metro Corridor and Rapid Metro, Gurgaon). Besides, metro services are operational in many other cities, including Lucknow, Mumbai, Banglore, Kochi, Hydrabad and recently operationalised in Kanpur. An outlay of Rs 4,710 cr has been made in the Union Budget for projects of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). "In a major boost to regional connectivity in NCR, Government of India has allocated Rs 4,710 cr to country's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project in the Union Budget presented today in Parliament," NCRTC said in a statement. Construction work on the entire 82 km-long Delhi-Ghaziabad Meerut RRTS corridor is in full swing. The corridor will have 25 stations, including two depots and one stabling yard, officials said. So far, 16 km viaduct of priority section, 1200 piers, and 9,900 piles have been concreted. Foundation work has been completed for 56 km of the corridor, the statement said. The 17 km priority section between Sahibabad to Duhai is scheduled to be operational by March 2023 and trial runs is expected to begin this year. The complete corridor will be opened for public by 2025, officials said. "RRTS is a strategic investment of the governments to transform the mobility in NCR in line with the GatiShakti masterplan. The continued allocation to RRTS reinforces government's focus on infrastructure expenditure to catalyse the economic revival after the impact of pandemic," Vinay Kumar Singh, MD, NCRTC, was quoted as saying in the statement. With a design speed of 180 kmph and operational speed of 160 kmph, the RRTS trains will be unique and one of its kinds in India. The aerodynamic coaches will be self-propelled on electric traction with 25KV AC System. The RRTS trains are being designed with the state-of-the-art latest technology NCRTC is a joint venture of the Government of India (50 per cent) and state governments of Haryana (12.5 per cent), Delhi (12.5 or cent), Uttar Pradesh (12.5 per cent) and Rajasthan (12.5 per cent). It is mandated to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain RRTS in NCR and works under the administrative control of Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, it said. PTI KND RCJ RCJ

Noida resident <keyword id="3087061" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vikas-Sharda">Vikas Sharda</keyword> who clicked 13-year-old Harendra's picture that's all over the internet, says: "He was not begging, neither was he nagging people to use the weighing machine he had. I sensed a self respect the boy has. I felt respect for him, not sympathy." 
 
The gentleman who takes the metro from Noida City Centre everyday used to see Harendra glued to textbooks solving Maths problems and writing in English. Something compelled him to talk to the little boy only to learn about his hardships. 
 
Somewhat inspired by his spirit, Vikas posted the boy’s picture on Facebook recently that has become an instant hit on social media. 
 
This is what his post read: “I want you people who travel from Noida metro after 7 pm to use his services and somehow help him get back to studies. And PLEASE don't make him feel like a beggar..” read Sharda’s Facebook post. 
 
It was more like an appeal to people to help the boy than pity him. "I just wanted people to use his weighing machine so that he would get more money that he could use for studies," he says. 
 
WHAT’S HARENDRA’S STORY? 
 Born in a poor family, <keyword id="3087062" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Harendra-Chauhan">Harendra Chauhan</keyword>, hails from Hoshiyarpur village. He is a student of class IX. Such is his passion for academics that after school hours, he would sit outside a metro station with a weighing machine to earn a few bucks. Usually one could find him glued to his textbooks amid the hustle bustle outside the metro exit. 
 
It was because his father cannot walk. He wanted to earn money to support his dad who has a private job, in making ends meet, he tells us. 
 
“I used to sit here for my father. The economic condition of my family is not good. We don’t have money," he says. 
 But Harendra has got a fresh lease of life now. He doesn’t sit there anymore after Vikas’ viral post on the boy caught the attention of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister <keyword id="6355031" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akhilesh-Yadav">Akhilesh Yadav</keyword>. 
 The Chief Minister, moved by the dedication and passion of this boy, offered to support his <keyword id="6355445" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Education">education</keyword> by felicitating him with a cheque of Rs. 5 lakh, during a special event at his residence to reward the people whose struggles were highlighted by social media. 
 
The Rs 5 lakh amount will be kept in a fixed deposit and the interest from it will be further utilized for the child's education. 
 
When we asked Harendra about becoming a hero on social media, he had a clueless expression on his face. 
 
Trying to find the right words, he said,“ I am just happy to receive the money. With the money I can study ahead and ensure a better life for my family." 
 
He wants to join the army one day.
