According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Vikram isn’t broken — it’s only lying tilted on the lunar surface. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) will fly over Vikram’s landing site. NASA’s images, on the other hand, will be shared with the public. "NASA will share any before and after flyover imagery of the area around the targeted Chandrayaan-2 Vikram lander landing site to support analysis by the Indian Space Research Organisation," said Noah Petro, LRO's project scientist. Lunar nights These images might come out a little blurry since Vikram has been incommunicado for ten days now. Sunlight is depleting with only four days to go before the lunar night sets in, which will last for two weeks. These are also the last four days that ISRO has to establish <a href="https://www.businessinsider.in/chandrayaan-2-fails-in-the-final-seconds-of-descent-to-moons-south-pole/articleshow/71018196.cms">communication with Vikram</a> before it gets too cold for the lander to operate. The lander isn’t meant to survive temperatures that will dip to beyond -270 degrees Celsius. NASA had already tried communicating with the lander a few days back when its Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) beamed a radio frequency to the lander, in hopes of receiving a return signal from Vikram. As the US economy picks up, the Federal Reserve is expected to start winding down its bond-buying stimulus scheme which has helped fuel an investment splurge in Asia's emerging markets.
"The meeting was mainly to seek ideas and suggestions on what can be done about capital inflows. It was a very good and positive meeting," ICICI Bank's chief executive Chanda Kochhar told reporters.
India's large current account deficit -- the broadest measure of trade -- must be funded with foreign capital, and the country is seen as one of the most vulnerable among emerging market nations whose currencies are under pressure globally.
India's rupee recovered from historic lows against the dollar Friday, marking its biggest single-day gain in nearly a year, but analysts warned the currency's overall trend was still bearish.
The rupee, one of Asia's worst performing currencies, bounced back 2.09 percent -- its biggest one-day gain since September 2012 -- to end trade at 63.20 Friday, up from its record closing low of 64.55 the previous day.
The Indian unit, which had hit a new lifetime intraday low of 65.56 Thursday, was boosted Friday by comments by Chidambaram and the Reserve Bank of India.
Chidambaram said the currency panic was "unwarranted" and the rupee had "overshot" its "appropriate level".
He added there was no plan to impose more capital controls on top of ones announced this month, and that reviving growth, which hit a decade low of five percent last year, would be the government's focus.
The central bank governor Duvvuri Subbarao, meanwhile, dismissed investor fears India is hurtling towards a balance of payments crisis similar to one in 1991.
Ten-year government bonds also posted their biggest weekly gain in four-and-a-half-years, of 62 paise ($0.01) to 8.26 percent, while shares rebounded by 1.13 percent to 18,519.44 points.
But analysts said the relief might be only temporary and the rupee could soften further, with Deutsche Bank suggesting it could fall to 70 to the dollar.
"There is a slight change in sentiment after the finance minister's statements but the overall trend is still bearish," said Param Sarma, chief executive at consultancy NSP Forex.

They have no fixed address and travel constantly with their son, Noah. The conversation has been edited for length and clarity.Yusuf: My wife Sumaiya and I were childhood sweethearts who married young.I was born in London and Sumaiya in Durban, South Africa. Our lives have been nomadic since our engagement 11 years ago. When my wife got pregnant with our 14-month-old Noah, we continued traveling throughout the pregnancy and Noah's infancy.Parents often adapt their lives to their children, but we've adapted Noah to our lives. Noah was born in 2022 in the Gold Coast, Australia, where we stayed for his first few months and then continued traveling. We moved to London in 2016 when I got a job at CNN International. At CNN, we noticed the critical lack of diversity in the media.Sumaiya: In 2017, we started a project training communities to tell their stories on mobile devices, which became our media business, <a target="_blank" href="http://Seen.tv">Seen TV</a>. Between 2017 and 2020, we delivered training to people in over 100 countries.It demanded a seriously nomadic life with no apartment, car, or postal address. We only slowed down in 2020 due to COVID.Yusuf: Building <a target="_blank" href="http://Seen.tv">Seen TV</a>, we fought to be the opening speaker or keynote at <a target="_blank" href="https://events.unglobalcompact.org/leaderssummit23/Speakers">conferences and events</a>.After landing the first few, we used video footage to send to other <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/C197Hd0pMlL/?igsh=MW1odmhhbnU1czBsZw%3D%3D">speaker events</a>, which had a snowball effect. In addition to being paid to speak, flights, food, and accommodation were covered.As young people on an international speaker circuit, it was an amazing way to see the world at no cost.From 2017 onwards, we didn't pay rent and had no direct debits, gym membership, or phone contracts. We were in a different place every few days.Sumaiya and I would often be double booked, <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://isoj.org/speakers-2023/yusuf-omar/">speaking in different locations.</a>We could feel like two ships passing in the night. Our marriage involved meeting in airport lounges, and it was hellishly tiring.Sumaiya: COVID forced us to spend longer periods in a few locations and build our media company. Although terrible, the pandemic slowed our schedules, and we could develop our business.<div type="image" title="A young family outside the Sydney Opera house." height="4032" width="3024" msid="111989112" hostid="261" sizebytes="364978"></div><h2 id="f26597c7-f6f3-40a6-aa66-cf530748f905">Adapting Noah to nomad life</h2>Sumaiya: Now, we're building our company and raising Noah, our 14-month-old, as best we can.Yusuf: Settling down has never been on the cards. Time differences and travel have been the only constants in our marriage. Everyone said we'd settle down with a baby. Our question was: why?Sumayia: Being pregnant while traveling was difficult, especially in busy airports.Once, while traveling alone in Sydney airport, I was collecting my bags when a woman rushed past and knocked a trolley into my stomach. I started crying, and the woman shouted at me and rushed off. Fortunately, both Noah and I were fine, but with a visible bump, I was extra careful on the move.Yusuf: I was in a different country, about to give a speech when it happened. Our team is dispersed across South Africa, the UK, the US, and India. We continue to travel to speak at conferences, run events, and attend business meetings. We've no fixed address and mostly stay in hotels.Living in hotels with Noah is chaos. We're out as much as possible, and I do 80% of my work walking with him in my backpack. I hate having half the hotel room taken up by stuff.Catching buses and trains with big bags is anxiety-inducing. Fitting everything in hand luggage is more difficult with Noah, but we manage.Yusuf: Our three major expenses are transport, hotels, and food.When we're on business trips, hotels are a business expense, which is the majority of why we travel.In addition to hotels, we've also spent short stints at our parents' homes and lived in a rented van.Fortunately, speaking engagements often cover our travel costs, but flexibility is crucial.The biggest change since Noah was born is that we use fewer Ubers and more car rentals because Ubers often don't have baby seats.Noah's under two years old, so we don't pay much for his flights. But, his experiences are positive in a different way.Yusuf: His life is ridiculously privileged. He travels the world, hangs out on beaches, and meets people constantly. He's even come onstage at the UN in New York to deliver a <a target="_blank" class="" href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyInnQ6t8jP/?igsh=ZWtjdjU4MmxkeXV0">keynote talk with me</a>.<div type="image" title="A man onstage presenting a speech holding a young child" height="4000" width="6012" msid="111989114" hostid="261" sizebytes="570614"></div>We can show up for family by attending events like Eid, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, or funerals at the drop of a hat. We can visit our family more often because we're always on the move.Sumaiya: People have obligations that keep them in one place, and we're fortunate not to have those.<h2 id="465302d3-d6c3-43a1-8434-da5358eaec1b">Long-term plans and a globetrotting nanny</h2><div type="image" title="A man with a toddler on his shoulders in Covent Garden" height="4208" width="3156" msid="111989110" hostid="261" sizebytes="562122"></div>Yusuf: We respect the people who have a permanent home and understand why they do, but settling down in the suburbs terrifies us. Provided we stay healthy, we'll continue to live like this.Right now, the pace is insane, but we want to keep taking advantage of the opportunities for us and <a target="_blank" href="http://Seen.TV">Seen TV</a> before Noah turns two.The next priority is finding a full-time nanny to travel with us. We rarely have people we can leave Noah with, so there are no date nights or downtime. For example, Noah can have story time in bed anywhere. We like to swim with him daily, which is usually possible wherever we go.Yusuf: The key is finding the right partner. Opting for a nomadic life is complicated. You need flexibility, spontaneity, and minimal materialism in a partner.

We live in hotels full-time with our 14-month-old baby. We won't be settling in the suburbs.

We believe that the combination can yield run-rate revenue and cost synergies of up to $50 million that can be achieved by the calendar year 2022. The main areas for synergy opportunities are around content creation and distribution as well as reducing overhead and our borrowing cost. The deal comes at a time when the entire movie production sector shut in major global markets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will see STX merging into the NYSE-listed Eros International and creating an enterprise with a $1 billion valuation. We strongly believe that the combined forces of Eros and STX will be beneficial for our shareholders. Q) As a result of the merger, how do Eros's consumers stand to gain? Pradeep Dwivedi: The combined company will have a robust pipeline of feature-length films and episodic content with powerful, well-established positions in the world's fastest-growing global markets. Today, audience is looking for all-inclusive content across languages, formats and genres. Q) Are mergers and partnerships like this the future of the OTT ecosystem? Ali Hussein: Eros Now has been on a strong growth trajectory over the last few years and now amassed 187 million registered users, and 26.2 million paid subscribers that come to us from 150 countries. A large part of the growth strategy for Eros Now is to launch sub-brands further like Eros Now Prime and others, and, further deep penetrate India. Also, developing our International presence to become a more glocal player in our adjacent markets. Organic growth and M&amp;A are all options we will consider based on the opportunity to be a relevant digital video brand to consumers in markets around the world. The newly created entity will leverage existing global partnerships with Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, NBCUniversal, Google and YouTube. Q) The combined company expected to generate approximately $50 million in run-rate operating synergies within 24 months of closing. Can you throw some light on this? Pradeep Dwivedi: There are significant synergy opportunities between Eros and STX which focus on content creation, distribution partnership as well as reducing overhead and our borrowing cost. Our emphasis would be on creating relevant content that has a global appeal and establish cross-over content partnerships with India and USA creative talent. This will thus help in substantially driving growth. While from a distribution point of view, the combined business will help in optimizing theatrical financing and create economic opportunities. Also, help in integrating Eros's theatrical release into STX's distribution agreement and help establish a direct theatrical distribution partnership, in addition, to bundle selling STX and Eros's programming to various network and streaming platform. The synergies also further help in enhancing and building their presence in the Chinese market, which is an upcoming entertainment market. The merger will also see co-production and co-financing Chinese as well as globally relevant content besides broadening Eros Now's proposition with western content and driving global subscriber growth. Q) What kind of global exposure will this merger help Eros International gain? Pradeep Dwivedi: There are approximately $50 million of highly actionable operating synergies across the global operations. These synergies can therefore monetize STX content on Eros’s OTT platform. This will be in addition to the recent announcement of Eros Now partnering with NBCUniversal and introducing a new format called Eros Now Prime. Eros Now Prime caters to premium English content programming majorly targeting the South Asian diaspora. Also, the OTT platform will benefit from STX quality assets, develop international distribution in adjacent markets and create potential global stories that could be best told on an OTT service. Furthermore, the merger will see Eros benefitting from STX global network, distribution agreements, partnerships, and STX's China relationship. Q) What kind of content offering can we expect from the new entity in the near future? Will this content be specific to each individual market? Ali Hussein: The merger creates the first truly independent media company that offers the best of Bollywood and Hollywood. STX's content slate caters to the massive and growing English content consumers in India. While Eros through its OTT platform will be offering original shows, short format content - Eros Now Quickie, music, Bollywood and regional language films that have a global appeal. The combined company expected to release close to 40 feature films in 2020 and more than 100 hours of original episodic content. Q) How will this step help fuel growth for Eros overall? What kind of growth expectations do you have for the current financial year? Ali Hussein: Synergies at the group level exist across efficiencies in content production, distribution expertise and penetrate offline audiences in US/India/China and ROW. Also, with the future of video technology and next-generation formats, new and exciting stories will be created that are more global in nature and bind the world with compelling cross border stories. The merger helps in leveraging the core premise of Indian entertainment for Eros Now and diversify into several sub-brands such as Eros Now Prime, Eros Now Quickie and other such formats by the end of FY 21. This will help Eros Now penetrate in India as well as global markets by offering glocal as well as Indian content respectively.
