The types of discomfort users face due to battery drainage include anxiousness, disconnectedness, helplessness, fear of missing out, unsafe and nervous. 87% of the people said they use their smartphone while it is being charged, and 92% use power saving mode on their device to get a longer battery life. Around half of the users said that they charge their smartphones twice a day. Interestingly, it is the people above the age of 50 years that get the most anxious when their device’s battery level is at 20% or below. 80% of people in this age group get anxious, higher than the overall average of 72%. In an interaction with IANS, Martinez revealed the conversation she, along with other top Cisco leadership, had with PM Modi last week around the emerging technologies and how they can help the country innovate and build for the world. "It was very exciting to meet the prime minister and other top leaders to witness the great commitment they have to make India a global manufacturing and export hub for various technologies. 5G is a great opportunity for us to do more, not only for the private sector but also for enterprises of all sizes at massive scale," Martinez said. She said that PM Modi asked them to engage on 6G as after 5G, the prime minister is already laying out the blueprint for it. "We talked about building some kind of joint R&amp;D around 6G as well. We are very excited after seeing the 5G roll-out globally, including in India. We're very excited about 6G too," Martinez told IANS. PM Modi has already emphasised that the 6G initiative will create new opportunities for innovators, industries and startups. In March, he released a vision document that details India's plans to develop and launch 6G telecom services in a few years. Cisco is also working with telecom operators in India for the monetisation of private 5G use cases as a service model. The company is witnessing the 5G rollout at a very rapid pace with both service providers Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti Airtel connecting cities and towns, as the country aims to connect every nook and corner of the country with 5G access this year. Cisco's Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins also discussed with PM Modi how the company has doubled down on manufacturing to boost exports from the country. The global networking giant has announced it will start manufacturing in India, with an aim to drive more than $1 billion in combined domestic production and exports in the coming years via offering a robust and secure device ecosystem. Dave West, President, Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan, and Greater China (APJC), told IANS that India is moving very rapidly on 5G rollout and the energy around the whole piece of digitisation in the country is super impressive. "We're incredibly excited about the Indian market and are well aligned to see India on the digitisation and the growth journey. The manufacturing announcement is a testament to our belief in this growth market. We are going to be manufacturing routers and switches to begin with, and then move from there," West elaborated. Enterprises of all sizes are digitising very rapidly in the country and as they digitise, technology comes at the forefront of their strategy. "It is fundamental to their success, not only internally on how they manage their own businesses and provide capabilities to their employees but also how they do business with others. Also, cybersecurity and sustainability are two key topics of discussions as enterprises want us to make resilient, high quality, agile infrastructure," West told IANS. PM Modi wants us to start building R&D around 6G technology: Cisco COO

Blood delivery through drones can soon be expanded to the whole country, a senior official said after the <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword>n Council of Medical Research successfully conducted a trial run of blood bag delivery by <keyword id="6354474" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="drone" source="Orion">drone</keyword>s under its iDrone initiative on Thursday. The initiative was in continuance with the national mission of expanding the drone ecosystem in India. The 'i-DRONE' was first used by <keyword id="6364396" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="icmr" source="Orion">ICMR</keyword> during the COVID-19 pandemic for distributing vaccines to hard-to-reach areas. "Today, we are transporting blood and blood-related products which are supposed to be kept at a low temperature. After the experiment, we found that not only can we maintain the temperature but there was also no damage to the products transported. "We sent another sample through an ambulance and if there are no differences in the samples sent using the two modes then drones will be used all over India," said Dr Rajiv Bahl, the director general of ICMR. He also said that "clarity on challenge mapping and identifying the possible solutions can be achieved by developing indigenous capacities in research and introduction of innovations and technologies in the mainstream". "With digitisation, efficient manufacturing of vaccines and development of a rapid delivery mechanism, India achieved 90 per cent coverage within a year. The boost of technology is an accelerator which is gradually pushing India towards achieving the status of being a developed nation," he added. The trial run as part of a path-breaking validation study has been undertaken for the first time in the country by the collaborative efforts of ICMR, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, and Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. The inaugural trial flight carried 10 units of whole blood samples between the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida, and Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, in visual line of sight, according to an official statement. Some countries are already using drones to deliver blood products, vaccines, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and even organs to remote, rural areas or areas with poor infrastructure. In Ghana, drone delivery of blood -- both as laboratory samples and as emergency blood and blood product delivery -- is now available for thousands of health facilities serving millions of people. In the US, where whole blood and blood products are often sparse in rural areas, drones are more highly regulated and air traffic is more congested, the feasibility of drone delivery of blood and blood products is still being assessed. Blood delivery by drones across India may soon be reality, says ICMR after successful trial run

<ul><li>People will be able to block and track their lost or stolen mobile phones across India with the rollout of a tracking system by the government this week.</li><li>The system is ready and now it will be deployed across India in this quarter. This will enable people to block and track their lost mobile phones.</li><li>Telecom operators and CEIR system will have visibility into IMEI number of the device and mobile number linked to it.</li></ul> People will be able to block and track their lost or stolen mobile phones across India with the rollout of a tracking system by the government this week, a senior government official said. Technology development body Centre for Department of Telematics (CDoT) has been running the pilot of the CEIR system in some of the telecom circles, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and North East region, and the system is now ready for pan-India deployment, a DoT official, who did not wish to be identified, told PTI. "CEIR system is scheduled for pan-India launch on May 17," the official said. When contacted, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Project Board at CDoT Rajkumar Upadhyay did not confirm the date but confirmed that the technology is ready for pan-India deployment. "The system is ready and now it will be deployed across India in this quarter. This will enable people to block and track their lost mobile phones," Upadhyay said. CDoT has been able to add features to check the use of cloned mobile phones across all telecom networks. The government has made it mandatory to disclose IMEI -- a 15-digit unique numeric identifier -- of mobile devices before their sale in India. The mobile networks will have access to the list of approved IMEI numbers which will check the entry of any unauthorised mobile phones on their network. Telecom operators and CEIR system will have visibility into IMEI number of the device and mobile number linked to it, and the information is being used in some states to track your lost or stolen mobiles through CEIR. "One of the common practices is that miscreants change IMEI number of stolen mobile phones which prevents tracking and blocking of such handsets. It was a national security issue. The CEIR will be able to block any cloned mobile phones on the network with the help of various databases," Upadhyay said. The basic purpose of CEIR is to ease reporting of stolen and lost mobiles and block the use of mobiles all over the country. This will discourage the theft of mobile phones, enable the tracing of the stolen and lost mobiles to the police, detection of cloned or counterfeit mobiles, restrict the use of such cloned mobiles, as well as protect the interest of the consumers by making them aware of the information related to fake and cloned mobile phones. Recently, Karnataka Police recovered and handed over more than 2,500 lost mobile phones to their owners using the CEIR system. Apple already has a system to track lost mobile phones with the help of Apple ID but major issues have been around Android mobile phones. With the new system in place, it will be futile to use stolen mobile phones. "The system has an in-built mechanism which will also check the smuggling of phones and help the government from revenue loss to the exchequer as well," Upadhyay added. WhatsApp has over 500 million users in India. “The Ministry is taking note of it, they will send them a notice. I have said repeatedly that openness, trust, safety and accountability are the responsibility of platforms who deliver to digital nagriks,” said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT at an event. The Meta-owned platform has now issued a statement saying it is aligned with the government in keeping users safe. The company's CEO Ryan Roslansky said in an email to employees that the move was aimed at streamlining the company's operations. "As we guide LinkedIn through this rapidly changing landscape, we are making changes to our Global Business Organization (GBO) and our <keyword id="1334" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="china" source="Orion">China</keyword> strategy that will result in a reduction of roles for 716 employees," he wrote late on Monday. "If your role is directly impacted by this decision, you will receive a calendar invitation within the next hour for a meeting with a leader from your team and a representative from our GTO," he added. He admitted that while the platform is making meaningful progress creating economic opportunities for its members and customers and experiencing record engagement on the platform, "we're also seeing shifts in customer behaviour and slower revenue growth". "In an evolving market, we must continuously have the conviction to adapt our strategy in order to make our vision a reality," said the CEO. LinkedIn saw record engagement in the March quarter as more than 930 million members globally now turn to the professional social network to connect, learn, sell and get hired. The company was also in the process of discontinuing product and engineering teams in China and the downsizing of corporate, sales, and marketing functions. LinkedIn lays off 716 employees in a move to streamline operations

State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (<keyword id="6354737" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="ongc" source="Orion">ONGC</keyword>) has cancelled the bids received for its <keyword id="6392149" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="daman" source="Orion">Daman</keyword> upside gas development project off the western coast due to high price quotes, sources said. The project is crucial to ONGC's strategy of ramping up gas production from its shallow-water fields off India's west coast. Once completed, the project would lead to nearly doubling of current gas production of 4-5 million standard cubic metres per day. Sources aware of the matter said the bids ONGC received for the project were way higher than the company's internal estimates and so the tender has been cancelled. The tender would now be divided into separate packages and rebid. Engineering and fabrication contractor <keyword id="45475" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="larsen-toubro" source="Orion">Larsen &amp; Toubro</keyword> (L&amp;T) emerged as the lowest bidder when the bids were opened in December last year. It quoted a cost of USD 663.77 million to build the infrastructure needed to ramp up production from the field that lies about 60 kilometers off the west coast. A consortium of Afcons and Indonesia's Gunanusa Utama Fabricators emerged a distant second in the bidding, quoting close to USD 801.90 million. Vietnam's PTSC and Abu Dhabi's National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) were also among those initially chasing the contract, but did not participate in the bid process. Sources said L&amp;T's quote of USD 663.37 million was 36.77 per cent higher than ONGC's revised internal estimate of USD 485.03 million. L&amp;T offered a USD 1 million discount but this was not acceptable to ONGC, they said, adding that ONGC could have tolerated a maximum variation of 20 per cent over the internal price estimate. Daman upside gas development project envisaged building four new wellhead platforms, seven infield pipelines, a new process gas compressor module and the addition of low-pressure compression at the existing process platform. It also includes topsides modifications at existing wellhead platforms. The project has been in the works for years but has been delayed on several occasions due to unfavourable gas pricing. But a rise in domestic gas prices turned around the project's commercial viability. ONGC has been producing natural gas from Daman since 2016 and has spent an estimated USD 1 billion on offshore infrastructure at the field over the past five to six years. The project to raise production involved building infrastructure that could also handle gas from neighbouring B-12 and C-24 marginal fields. India's domestic crude oil and natural gas production has been dwindling in recent years and ONGC is under increasing pressure from the government to boost its output and reverse the declining trend. Projects like Daman are crucial for meeting those objectives but the scrapping of the tender would add to the delay in boosting output. The Berry Blue variant I received looked good, but its back is a fingerprint magnet. You will have to use a case with the device. Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy M14 5G features a triple camera setup at the back. The three sensors come with their own cutouts and an LED flash. Apart from this, the back comes with Samsung’s branding at the bottom. The device features the SIM tray on the left side, and the right side houses the volume rockers and the power button, doubling up as the fingerprint sensor. The device weighs 206 grams, which is all right considering the large display and the 6,000mAh battery. While I did not have any issues while using the device, people with small hands may find it difficult to use the device with one hand for a long period. <div type="image" title="Display" msid="100189684" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Samsung Galaxy M14 5G display&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The device sports a large 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD on the front with a 90Hz refresh rate. First, you will notice that Samsung has opted for an older waterdrop notch instead of a punch-hole notch. The device offers a good experience indoors but struggles a bit when you use the device outdoors in direct sunlight. <cmsannotation type="cmsannotation" annotationid="Software and performance" comment="subhead" text="Software and performance">Software and performance</cmsannotation> The Samsung Galaxy M14 5G comes with Android 13 out of the box with the company’s OneUI Core 5.1 on top. The company has promised two years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates for the device. For those unaware, OneUI Core is a toned-down version of OneUI and misses out on features such as Bixby Routines, Windows Link, Edge Lighting, and more. <div type="image" title="UI" msid="100189755" hostid="261" caption="&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Galaxy M14 5G UI and pre-installed applications&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;"></div> The Galaxy M14 5G has many bloatware apps, including Samsung apps, Netflix, Facebook, Amazon, Candy Crush, and more. While some Samsung apps cannot be removed, you can easily uninstall third-party apps. The user interface is easy to understand and offers a clutter-free experience. Coming to performance, the device is equipped with the company’s Exynos 1330 chipset coupled with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We found the device performs well in day-to-day tasks, but there are occasional stutters while launching an app or performing heavy tasks. I tried playing Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9 on the device. While the device could handle Call of Duty: Mobile decently, I noticed occasional lags while playing Asphalt 9. Overall, the Galaxy M14 5G offers decent performance, and if you are not a hardcore gamer, you will have no issues with the device. It is worth considering if you are a casual gamer looking for an affordable device. The Galaxy M14 5G is powered by a 6,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging. The battery life is easily the highlight of the device. The device lasts for two days with regular usage, a few hours of streaming, and some light gaming. As the device offers only 25W charging, it takes nearly 100 minutes to be fully charged. Despite being a budget device, it does not have a charging brick inside the box.
