On the other hand, Manoj suffered a straight-game loss against Thailand's Mongkhon Bunsun by 19-21, 8-21 in the men's singles SL3 Group A match. Manoj showed grit and resilience in the opening set against the Thailand shuttler. The opening set went right down the wire but Bunsun held his composure to go 1-0 up in the game. In the second set, Bunsun turned out to be a challenge that Manoj failed to overcome. Bunsun took the lead and never looked back after that. Manoj had no answer to the questions that the Thailand shuttler put in front of him and eventually succumbed to defeat. Earlier on Friday, Manasi Joshi crashed out of the women's singles SL3 Group A event after Ukraine's Oksana Kozyna scripted a remarkable comeback at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena. Manasi began the proceedings on a dominant note, taking control of the opening set by maintaining a healthy gap. Within the blink of an eye, she raced to a 21-10 win in the opening set to go 1-0 up. Sivarajan, who trains at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, and partner Nithya were equal to the task in the opening game and also took a slender one-point lead but the young American pair, who are both in their late teens, were too agile on court and fought for every point. She also won a bronze in the 100m T35 category on Friday. She faced significant physical challenges when she was born as her lower body was plastered for six days after birth. Weak legs and an irregular leg posture made her prone to various diseases. Preethi also became only the second Indian woman to win two medals -- both bronze -- in a single Paralympics after shooter Avani Lekhara who won a gold and a bronze in Tokyo three years ago. T35 classification is meant for athletes who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. Later in the day, the 24-year-old Nishad, who hails from Una in Himachal Pradesh, won India's third medal from para-athletics and seventh overall for the country in Paris Paralympics with a season's best effort of 2.04m. He lost his right hand in a grass-cutting machine when he was six-year-old. Nishad, who had also won a silver in Tokyo Paralympics three years ago with a jump of 2.06m, had a tough fight with world record holder and defending champion Townsend Roderick of the USA, who clinched the gold after clearing 2.12m. STRONG SHOW BY <keyword id="20202465" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="shuttlers" source="keywords">SHUTTLERS</keyword> Tokyo Games silver medallist Suhas is set to become the first Indian shuttler to win back-to-back medals at the Paralympics after outplaying compatriot Sukant Kadam in straight games to reach the men's singles SL4 final. The 41-year-old Suhas, a 2007 batch IAS officer, beat Sukant 21-17, 21-12 to make another final at the global showpiece. Later, Nitesh Kumar also guaranteed a medal for himself in SL3 with a 21-16 21-12 victory over Japan's Daisuke Fujihara in the semifinal. Before Suhas sizzled, it was Manisha who set up an all-Indian women's singles SU5 semifinal with compatriot Thulasimathi Murugesan, assuring the country of at least a silver. NO SUCCESS IN SHOOTING RANGE After the high of four medals in two days, there was disappointment in store for India in the shooting range with Lekhara failing to qualify for the final following a 11th-place finish in the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH1) qualification in which Sidhartha Babu ended 28th. In the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH2) qualification, Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna ended in 26th place with a total of 630.2. In the Paralympics mixed event, both men and women compete on the line against each other. Coming off her historic gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, Lekhara ended the competition with a total of 632.8. Lekhara's sequence of scores read 105.7, 106.0, 104.1, 106.0, 104.8, 106.2, while Sidhartha had scores of 104.6, 103.8, 105.7, 104.9, 103.6, 105.7. In SH1, athletes are able to hold their gun without difficulty and shoot from a standing or sitting position (in a wheelchair or chair). Sidhartha aggregated 628.3 across six series. Athletes classified in SH2 category are unable to hold their rifle independently, so they use a stand, but can aim by themselves and control the weapon when they shoot. Para-athletes Preethi, Nishad win silver and bronze; shuttlers Suhas, Manisha assure medals

Consul General of <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> Nitesh Kumar and President of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society (NIFWS) and Member of House of Representatives <keyword id="2375773" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="chanda-chaudhary" source="Orion">Chanda Chaudhary</keyword> handed over the cylinders on in Saptari district on June 3. A total of 3,000 sets of LPG stoves and 14.2 Kg cylinders and other accessories like regulators and pipes were gifted by the Government of India to underprivileged families of the districts of Sarlahi, Rautahat and Saptari. Approximately, 500 sets were distributed in Kaudena Municipality of Sarlahi district on April 19 this year. The gifting of stoves and cylinders is one of the 75 projects being inaugurated this year in Nepal as part of "India@75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The Project is inspired by the <keyword id="8775519" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="pradhan-mantri-ujjwala" source="Orion">Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala</keyword> <keyword id="6443343" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="yojana" source="Orion">Yojana</keyword> (PMUY) of the Government of India which is a flagship scheme with the objective to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels. <keyword id="196298" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vijay-yadav" source="Orion">Vijay Yadav</keyword>, Chairman of Tirhut Rural Municipality; <keyword id="17624713" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-karki" source="Orion">Narendra Karki</keyword>, SP of Saptari; <keyword id="17624715" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="radha-kayasth" source="Orion">Radha Kayasth</keyword>, Vice-President of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society; local journalists and other stakeholders were present on the occasion. The families were identified through the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) list in coordination with District Administration Office (DAO) and local level. Social welfare councils have also been roped in for the distribution process. The government of India has approved Nepalese Rupees 2,40,90,000 for this purpose. Consul General congratulated the beneficiaries and noted that the use of traditional cooking fuel is detrimental to the health of rural women and the environment. The gifting of these LPG gas stoves and cylinders reflected the continued support of India to Nepal. NIWFS President Chanda Chaudhary thanked the <keyword id="44734" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-government" source="Orion">Indian Government</keyword> for its continued developmental support to women. Distribution of these LPG gas stoves, gas cylinders and accessories will replace the use of traditional cooking fuels like firewood, coal, and cow-dung cakes, which produce heavy smoke and cause health hazards. Since 2003, India has taken up over 535 High Impact Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal in various sectors Health, Education, Drinking Water and Irrigation, Electrification, etc. and has completed 476 projects and 59 ongoing projects. Amongst these, 81 projects have been undertaken in Province-2, including 19 projects in Sarlahi; 5 projects in Rautahat and 9 projects in Saptari Districts. In addition to these, 87 ambulances to various health posts and 3 school buses have been gifted in these three districts by India. As close neighbours, India and Nepal share wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of this project reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal for the upliftment of its people. Chants of "Netaji amar rahein" reverberated across Saifai as people from across length and breadth of <keyword id="6357713" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="uttar-pradesh" source="Orion">Uttar Pradesh</keyword> thronged socialist leader <keyword id="6357168" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="mulayam-singh-yadav" source="Orion">Mulayam Singh Yadav</keyword>'s native village for his last darshan Monday. Yadav died on Monday morning at a private hospital in Gurugram and his mortal remains reached here in the evening. The body of the <keyword id="6354265" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samajwadi-Party" source="Orion">Samajwadi Party</keyword> patriarch has been kept at his 'kothi' and the cremation will take place on Tuesday afternoon. While grief-struck commoners and party supporters stood in queues, it wasn't easier for "VIPs" as well with multiple current and former UP legislative assembly members trying hard to gain entry into the kothi. "Sir, there are instructions to us that no VIP treatment is meted out to anyone," a private security official told an MLC and a former MLC, denying them a backdoor entry. Besides a large number of people who waited for the mortal remains at the venue, Samajwadi Party president <keyword id="6355031" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="akhilesh-yadav" source="Orion">Akhilesh Yadav</keyword>, former MP Dharmendra Yadav and other family members were present when the body was taken out from an ambulance. <keyword id="42422" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="mulayam" source="Orion">Mulayam</keyword>'s brother Shivpal Yadav was seen comforting Akhilesh Yadav, placing his hand on his shoulder as the latter broke down. Soon after the body was laid for the last "darshans", Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary arrived and paid their tributes. They also extended their condolences to Akhilesh Yadav. According to an official statement issued in Lucknow, Adityanath reached Saifai and paid tributes to former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. He also paid floral tributes on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and the Uttar Pradesh government, it said. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chhatisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and Bihar CM Nitesh Kumar are likely to arrive here. Traders in the district have decided to keep the markets closed on October 11 as a mark of respect to the leader. According to a senior official, in view of a large number of people including VVIPs, VIPs expected to arrive for the darshan of the late leader, tight security arrangements have been made. A large number of locals, party workers, leaders and women are continuously reaching Saifai village to extend their condolences and pay tributes to the departed soul. "He was like God to us," Jaikesh Yadav, who arrived here with scores of people from Etah district, some 150 km away, told PTI as he struggled to gain entry for the darshan. Indrajit Singh Yadav said he left home in Jaunpur while Rahul Singh Yadav came from Prayagraj after the news of Yadav's demise broke out. A private security official manning the queues estimated that well around 10,000 people had paid last respects till 9.30 pm. Among those struggling to gain entry was a 72-year-old man, hailing from a nearby village. "I had a surgery on my leg several years ago and it's permanently disabled," the elderly man told PTI and recalled Yadav as a "great leader". The pradhan of Saifai, Ramphal Valmiki, said people from all over the country and various districts of Uttar Pradesh, who had been in touch with 'Netaji' or were his followers, both political and non-political, will reach here to pay their last respects. A huge pandal has been set up at the place where the last rites will be performed for people to sit and watch, Valmiki said. All members of Netaji's family are present in Saifai, he added. Yadav, a former defence minister who had also served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh three times, passed away at 82 on Monday.
