OTT releases to watch for June, 2023

<keyword id="6366186" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nimrat-Kaur">Nimrat Kaur</keyword>, who was last seen in Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift, and <keyword id="2491596" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Tahir-Raj-Bhasin">Tahir Raj Bhasin</keyword>, who made his debut with YRF’s Mardaani, came together for a short film for Yash Raj banner’s youth-centric arm YFilms. The movie, called <keyword id="3276952" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="the-road-trip">The Road Trip</keyword>, is the first instalment of a series of short films that has been aptly titled “Love Shots”. 
 
The two star as a married couple, Nikhil and Archie, who are seen arguing after their car has slipped into a dig while en route Pune. While deciding whether the accident happened because of Archie not paying enough attention to the GPS, or Nikhil’s loud Drum n Bass music, the conversation shifts to their mutual friends who had crushes on them that they always knew about. 
 
While it looks like any other couple engaged in a sweet banter, the reality is something else, which comes to light only when we see an ambulance approaching them, instead of what should have been just another tow truck to get them out of the mess. 
 
While we don’t want to spill all the beans, here is the movie, so that you can watch for yourself what a well-kept suspense looks like.

Nimrat Kaur and Tahir Raj Bhasin look ‘out of the world’ in The Road Trip, a new short film by Yash Raj

In the recent trailer of his upcoming movie <keyword id="171884" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="airlift">Airlift</keyword>, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/topic/Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</a> can be seen talking about world’s biggest human evacuation, which lasted from August to October 1990, making it a promising edge-of-the-seat thriller. 
 The movie is based on the true story of how Air India carried out the operation of evacuating more than 1 lakh Indian expatriates from Kuwait after it got invaded by Iraq. It has been directed by <keyword id="2495108" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Raja-Krishna-Menon">Raja Krishna Menon</keyword>, and stars <keyword id="2823" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Akshay-Kumar">Akshay Kumar</keyword> and <keyword id="6366186" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nimrat-Kaur">Nimrat Kaur</keyword> in the lead roles. 
 
Akshay plays Ranjit Katyal, a successful businessman based in Kuwait, who identifies himself as a Kuwaiti and not an Indian. His life is brought upside down when Iraq invades Kuwait and he, along with hundreds of thousands of Indians based in Kuwait, is forced to flee the country. His only hope comes in the form of the country that he himself had forgotten. 
 The film has been helmed by the makers of thrillers like D-day and Baby, making it a must-watch for those who are interested in <keyword id="143" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Bollywood">Bollywood</keyword> thrillers, and Akshay Kumar, with his expertise in such roles, is yet another reason to look out for this movie.

Akshay Kumar has something to say about world’s biggest human evacuation

The viral video starring <keyword id="598" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Deepika-Padukone">Deepika Padukone</keyword> is the third in line for the <keyword id="2785822" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vogue-Empower">Vogue Empower</keyword> campaign by <keyword id="214428" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Vogue-India">Vogue India</keyword>. The first two videos for the campaign had a sense of connection attached with them, which was why we were really looking forward to the third instalment. 
 
‘Going Home’ starring Alia Bhatt and directed by Vikas Bahl got us thinking about a perfect society where a woman is not afraid of asking for a lift from a group of strangers in the late hours of the night. 
 
Similarly, ‘Start With The Boys’ starring Madhuri Dixit and directed by Vinil Mathew touched the right chords when it asked the parents to raise boys who don’t make women cry, instead of raising boys who don’t cry. 
 The third video by <keyword id="27704" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Homi-Adajania">Homi Adajania</keyword> however, talks about the same old topic of liberating women from the cages that our society has created for them. The idea behind the video was to show 99 women in from different walks of life in a 2-minute video. As far as that is concerned, the video looks okay, like many others that have been made on or around the same topic, but if you listen too closely, the video wouldn’t make much sense to a common Indian woman. 
 The video starts with a sans-makeup Deepika and her frizzy hair, talking about the spirit that can’t be bound in clothes, and the many faces of privileged women dancing contemporary. We also see some known faces, like Adhuna Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Scherezade Shroff and <keyword id="6366186" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Nimrat-Kaur">Nimrat Kaur</keyword>. 
 
The makers have talked about women voicing their choice for equality, be it social, political, economic, sexual, and it sounds acceptable if we don’t go in the details, which unfortunately we have to because of Deepika’s constant voice-over in the background without which the video is nothing but a collection of some 90 portraits. 
 
Talking of the details, she demands the equality of having sex without marriage, outside of marriage or not having sex at all. 
“Just because you are a woman doesn't mean you can make choices that please you without caring a zilch about people around you. We have never taken responsibilities to protect and provide off men's shoulders so this whole freedom of choice to women just because they are women is nothing but asking freedom to do things that have always been labelled "wrong" when done by men. The effort seems to compete with men at any cost possible. Men and women are differently equal and never completely equal. Choices come with responsibilities. Hope young women realize that. Sex outside marriage isn't a choice but a mockery of relationship you "chose" to get into,” says Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, a young journalist and independent movie maker associated with the issue of fake charges under Section 498A, and we couldn’t agree more. 
 
While we appreciate the sentiments behind women independence, we believe that the video could have actually featured women from all walks of life, and focusing on real problems rather than the controversial demand that we discussed above. To add the portraits of 3-4 tribal women to hint their involvement (and approval) in the demands put forward in the video is misleading to say the least. 
 
Deepika has been winning hearts recently, with her powerful performances on screen and acceptance of suffering from depression in real life. In this video too, she has looked and spoken good, which was all she could have done on her part. Whatever lacks in the video demands a better attempt from the makers the next time, if not an explanation of sort for points like the ones we discussed above.

'Brahmastra', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'Darlings' lead in IIFA nominations

The Bachchans, who are at Nanavati Hospital, shared their health update on Twitter. Abhishek said both his father and he had had mild symptoms and requested everybody to be calm and not panic. While Amitabh is 77, Abhishek is 44 years old. "I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to Hospital. Hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited," Amitabh tweeted. "All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested," he added. He has been moved to the isolation ward of the hospital, Nanavati Hospital sources told . Soon after his father posted his tweet, quelling speculation about his health, Abhishek also tweeted. "Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you," Abhishek tweeted. "The BMC has been in touch and we are complying with them," he added. Within minutes of Amitabh's post, the get well soon wishes began pouring in, flooding Twitter and other social media platforms. Bollywood wishes a speedy recovery to Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek after they test COVID-19 positive

By Uzmi Athar New Delhi, Jul 1 () Treating COVID-19 patients, providing them psycho-social support to help keep them calm and dealing with the constant fear of contracting the infection are some of the many battles that the country's healthcare workers are fighting daily since the outbreak of the pandemic. On National Doctor's Day, some of the women healthcare workers working at dedicated COVID-19 facilities across the country shared their experiences of emerging as the frontline force in fighting the virus that has claimed over 16,000 lives and infected 5.6 lakh people across the country. For Nimrat Kaur, a doctor who pursued the Master of Public Health programme from Johns Hopkins University in the US, working at a dedicated COVID-19 facility in Patna has been challenging not only mentally but also physically. "This pandemic is not dedicated to one class or one group of people; it is for everybody so there is a constant fear among doctors too because we are in the middle of (coronavirus) positive patients and they are panicky. We assure them that their testing positive does not mean the end of the world," the 32-year-old told over phone. Kaur, who has been a part of different projects of Doctors Without Borders in coordinating emergency response across Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam, said she treats about 25 COVID patients daily in her shifts which are 12-hour long. "I have a very weird biological clock which I am literally setting and resetting every few days. We have a 12-hour shift so you can't stick to one personal routine," she said. "When I get up I do a little stretching because standing in PPEs (personal protective equipment) for 12 hours at a stretch is really exhausting. Our breaks are not really scheduled or aligned with our lunch breaks as we cannot come out at leisure," she added. Kaur last met her family five months ago and it is not very often that she is able to talk to them because of her erratic work schedule. "It has been five months since I have not seen my family and I am not even able to talk to them due to my erratic shift timings," she said. "...It feels like if you talk to them then you are actually scaring them because even if I cough during my conversation, they really get scared...their first question is 'are you feeling okay'," she added. Agreed Pooja Iyer, a psychologist working at a COVID facility, who said that the biggest challenge for her is to counsel COVID patients while covered in PPEs as there is no eye contact. "The most important thing during the counselling is eye contact and that is missing due to the PPE. We use gestures, head nods and speak loudly so that the patients could hear us," she said. "We cannot touch the patients even when they are crying so it is difficult. We put our arms around our chest to show we are concerned," Iyer said. She stressed on the need to fight the stigma associated with the disease. "There is a lot of stigma (attached with the disease)... it is important to deal with stigma associated with COVID and that has to happen at national and familial level," the 31-year-old said. Meanwhile, 26-year-old nurse Anima Ekka said she contemplated for many days before deciding to get deployed at a COVID facility as she wanted to serve others. "I discussed with my family for several days but I had seen how my own community was struggling because of the disease and I knew that if I wanted communities like mine to be helped, I had to go serve," she said. Ekka, who was associated with a malnutrition project in Chakradharpur in Jharkhand, said it is hard to work in PPEs all day long while trying to ensure that we always remain alert and empathetic. "We take a short rest in between because you are always on rounds checking vitals of patients and it is just very taxing physically," she added. The film is called <keyword id="3285117" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Koi-Dekh-Lega">Koi Dekh Lega</keyword>, and stars <keyword id="1737042" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Shweta-Tripathi">Shweta Tripathi</keyword>, whose shot to fame was last year’s critically acclaimed movie <a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/IndependenceDaySpecial-7-Bollywood-movies-that-redefined-the-concept-of-freedom/Masaan/slideshow/48390614.cms">Masaan</a> and <keyword id="684700" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Saqib-Saleem">Saqib Saleem</keyword>, who was last seen as a skating coach in 2014’s child movie Hawaa Hawaai. The short film is shot at a bus stand in Mumbai’s Malad West area, and is about two friends who are waiting for their bus while engaging in a sweet banter. Amongst the boy’s wish to get a bike one day and the girl’s new perfume, it is only when their bus comes that a twist is revealed, but unlike The Road Trip, the twist is not a shocking or a depressing one, not at least to the lead couple. 
 
 
 
The movie has a message that even though people say that true love is blind, even the blind people can fall in true love, and see the depths of a relationship. 
 
The creepy eavesdropper that sits with both of them at the bus stop is from the Yash Raj crew, and it feels like he has been kept in the movie so that viewers can get a perspective to watch the movie.

<ul><li>Tanishq’s latest Ekatvam Diwali ad stirred up a new row of controversy on social media for promoting a crackerless Diwali. </li><li>The brand was quick to delete its ad this time. </li><li>This made us wonder if brands are setting a wrong precedent by pulling down their advertisements and giving in to these bullies too quickly? Will consumers lose faith in the brand for backtracking and its lack of confidence? </li><li>Experts tell us their thoughts and ideal ways of dealing with online trolling. </li></ul>Tanishq has found itself in troubled waters yet again. On November 09, #BoycottTanishq was trending on Twitter for another advertisement under its on-going ‘Ekatvam’ (unity) campaign and this time, we are scratching our heads to find a reason why it offended the internet users. The ad featured four independent actors Sayani Gupta, Neena Gupta, Alaya F and Nimrat Kaur talking about what they love about Diwali and how they are going to celebrate the festival this year. The ad is about female companionship and oneness. It celebrates successful women and positions itself as a brand that caters to women of all ages. Tanishq’s latest ad wasn’t just about promoting a noise-free Diwali, contrary to what trolls think. It was about celebrating Diwali with family and not bursting crackers was just one of the messages they gave. The message which offended many internet users wasn’t the central thread of the ad. It was woven around the message of equality and togetherness. Its caption read, “This Diwali, let’s unite and celebrate with those closest to our hearts.” While many experts say that religion is a tough subject to handle and brands should be careful in the way they project themselves, this time, Tanishq played it safe. It only featured Hindu, upper-caste and class women celebrating Diwali. So, what was the problem? It seems like the memories of the previous storm were still fresh and the mere sight of Tanishq is offending Twitterati. They were quick to jump in to ask for another boycott for ‘trying to advise Hindus on how to celebrate their festivals’ and ‘defame their culture.’ “Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers. We will light lamps, distribute sweets and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam,” said a user. “Saw a recent ad campaign by Tanishq Jewelry where some bimbos prattle vacuously about how Deepavali is about buying clothes and jewellery. Looks like this is the new woke line. Strip Deepavali of all religious significance and make it a kind of a glorified kitty party with lights,” said another Twitter user. In both these controversies, Tanishq was quick to withdraw its ad and apologise for hurting religious sentiments. This made us wonder if brands are setting a wrong precedent by pulling down their advertisements and giving in to these rabble-rousers too quickly? The last time, Tanishq withdrew its ad because the safety of its employees was in danger and so far, for its recent ad, it has just been social media outrage. Powerful brands like Tanishq have the resources to stand up to these bullies. Brands are also aware of the volatile climes they live in and how advertisements can irk some internet users. So, are brands not hiring good media planners? Will consumers lose faith in the brand for backtracking and its lack of confidence? A larger question every CMO ponders upon, what is the ideal way to deal with these online bullies? We reached out to experts to find out. Here is what they had to say: Lloyd Mathias, Business Strategist and Angel Investor: I am surprised that Tanishq chose to take down the ad in the face of social media backlash. I am sure the brand foresaw the likely controversy when they chose to go down this path – so backtracking now is a little surprising and doesn’t speak well for their planning. It is important for companies and brands to respect public sentiment. After all, a brand and a company exists within a larger community and all it does is have to reflect the values of its users and the larger society it operates in. Thanks to their reach and heft, brands have become important elements in shaping culture, influencing behaviour and moulding opinion. It is therefore important for them to proactively do the right thing, even though it may have short-term implications for their business. Harish Bijoor, Brand Guru &amp; Founder, Harish Bijoor Consults Inc: I very simply believe that brands must avoid touching topics that either directly or indirectly touch politics or religion. Anything that touches these two or adjacent issues such as custom and tradition, must be avoided. These are sensitive times. Avoid issues that sensitize audiences further. Akshara Vasavda, Creative Lead, Schbang: Another <keyword id="2851713" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Tanishq-Ad">Tanishq ad</keyword> taken down because of angry trolls upset over someone saying we shouldn't burst firecrackers, because you know, we're kind of in the middle of a pandemic and an on-going climate crisis in general. How dare they? First, let's focus on the real issue - the extremists dominating much of the Indian media and social media right now, spreading their intolerance in almost every sphere of our lives. There is no platform where one can express their (very reasonable and justified) views freely without getting attacked by angry extremist trolls. Whether or not Tanishq should have taken the ad down is a separate conversation. They are still yet another victim of growing extremism in our country, albeit a very privileged victim with power and resources to fight this issue and bring some much needed change. Should Tanishq have taken this ad down? Absolutely not. I work on a brand 100x smaller than Tanishq that was attacked for a week straight for a simple social media post on Navratri, but we stuck to our cause and fought the trolls off with a team of 3 girls handling ORM. I simply do not see why a brand like Tanishq feels forced to take the ad down except for maybe, just maybe, they want to have their cake and eat it too - please the progressives but be in the good books of conservatives/right wing audience as well. Afterall, their sales come from the old and the rich. Or maybe, they want the controversy. Whatever the reason is, I'm out of sympathy for this TATA giant, when small, independent brands are not afraid to stand up in the face of right-wing suppression of speech. Kuber Chopra, Founder, Creative and Strategy Director, Rasta: What Tanishq is dealing with is not a "might offend someone" mindset, it's got to a point where the trolls have simply marked some brands as too liberal for their liking. Just like they would mark some popular liberal voices as those to quash dare they speak. While I did feel when they released the last ad, they would have been conscious of potential backlash, on this occasion they're just dealing with depressing brainwashed mindsets that are going to continue to get offended by the sight of Tanishq. They are probably offended by this because there are 4 independent women and no men in a Diwali ad (albeit it's a jewelry ad) speaking English. I'm honestly a little saddened to suggest a hack for this, but if Tanishq doesn’t think putting a brave front is worth it, they should change the script and redo the voice over perhaps in Hindi. If they want to be brave they can release little snippets of each of these women lighting dias and a little story about who they are, where they're celebrating Diwali. And of course, doing nothing is also a strategy. Hope Tanishq has the best Diwali and open minded Diwali shoppers make their wallets heard. Akshaara Lalwani, CEO &amp; Founder, Communicate India: Conceptualization of an ad campaign is backed by the vision to create an emotional connect with the audience. While ṭhis attempt may at times click well for the brand, there is a possibility of it backfiring too, especially during such sensitive times, when the world is battling through a global health crisis and emotions are heightened. However, keeping that in mind, it is also imperative for brands to believe in its value system and not change as per audience receptiveness. Thus, pulling down the ad wasn't the best way to deal with this situation and only reflected the lack of belief in the idea that the brand had executed through this campaign If we observe the audience engagement post-global-lockdown, it has reflected an upsurge in the rate of social media trolls. Having had the technological access and ample amount of time at hand, people are consuming content on a larger scale and hence brands have been put under the microscopic lenses. In order to deal with such trolls, brands need to evaluate and understand the sentiment that the campaign has brought forth among the audiences. Basis the audience reaction, devising a strategy that helps communicate the campaign’s authentic idea is the best way to tackle the situation at hand. Amyn Ghadiali, Vice President -Business &amp; Strategy, Gozoop: It definitely sets a wrong precedent. I believe that more than trolls, the customers also lose faith in the brand because it doesn’t have the courage to see through things that they actually believe in. If I were the brand custodian at Tanishq, the fundamental question I would ask myself is that do I believe in what I am saying &amp; are the ones trolling me/ my customers? If they are, then I would really like to understand their POV better rather than pulling down the ad. If they are random trolls, who never would be able to afford my brand, why even bother? Also, if a brand believes in a progressive society, I would want to have customers who share that ideology. Look at how Jeff Bezos supported black lives matter. I wouldn’t call it strategy, I would simply call them principles. We all know principles mean nothing if they don’t cost us something. The best way to deal with trolls is to create an army of brand advocates that stand by your decision and belief. In-case of a polarising debate like that of Tanishq or for that matter any brand, it is important to have a spine and stick through. People who support your belief system will come forward, defend you and in-fact respect you even more.

Though the family dramas, which the millennials agree to be tacky or her horror movies that lacked sense, Kapoor has her signature magic that made them a major hit. However with the viewers in OTT being different from the homemakers, ALTBalaji will deal with original contents only. How is it different from the competitors? Unlike others, the platform will offer 250+ hours of original, exclusive content to its subscribers. This ad free, subscription based platform is now commercially available with few of these original shows. “The most endearing feature of ALTBalaji is its content; we are launching with the promise to bring fresh and never heard of stories to our viewers. While we are starting with 5 shows, it will be followed by a new show every 15 days for the binge watch lovers. On one hand we offer story of India’s first female in combative role- THE TEST CASE on the other we have most loved TV stars in KARRLE TU BHI MOHABBAT. But then most of the other OTTs are mostly in the area where TV shows are re-ran to keep the regular viewer updated in case he missed out on an episode. However ALTBalaji seems quite different.
