<br /><ul><li>Japanese camera giant Nikon could be looking beyond DSLR cameras for its future. <br /></li><li>A third of Nikon’s DSLR lines could be replaced by mirrorless replacement.<br /></li></ul>Nikon appears to be reworking its strategy to capture the mirrorless camera market share, with companies like Sony, Canon and Fujifilm having had a significant head start in this arena.<br /><br />A new report has revealed that the company could be axing more than a third of its DSLR lines, replacing them with mirrorless versions instead.<br /><br />A recent <a href="https://nikonrumors.com/2019/07/02/rumored-list-of-nikon-dslr-cameras-that-will-not-be-replaced-with-a-new-dslr-model.aspx/">report</a> by enthusiast site Nikon Rumours reckons that the D3500, the D5600 and the D500 could be axed and replaced with mirrorless versions. At this juncture, Nikon has eight DLSR models active, and if this rumour turns out to be accurate, the company could be signaling a mirrorless-cameras future.<br /><br />Lending further credence to this rumour is Nikon’s own statement from last year when it announced the Z-series full frame camera system. At the time, Nikon said that the Z mount was “the new light that Nikon will use to pioneer the future.”<br /><br />The future of DSLRs at Nikon<br /><br />The report adds that Nikon would not be releasing replacements for the D3500, the D5600 and the D500. This would make them the last models in their respective product lines.<br /><br />Apart from these models, Nikon currently has the D5, D850, D750, D7500 and the Df. Among these, the first four models are set to receive product upgrades, with the D760 set to arrive later this year.<br /><br />However, there is no news about a replacement for the Df at this point and given that it was released in 2013, its fate is yet to be determined. Should Nikon axe the Df as well, it would result in a 50% reduction in the number of DSLR models.<br /><br />A mirrorless-dominated future<br /><br />While there could be a 50% reduction in its DSLR lines, Nikon is rumoured to be working on two new mirrorless cameras, one in the mid-range and one in the high-end. In the mid-range segment, there coule be a replacement for the D3500 or the D5600, while the high-end model is said to be an equivalent of the D5.<br /><br />A third mirrorless model could replace the D500.<br /><br />At this point, it is anyone’s guess as to when these new mirrorless models will arrive in the market.<br />

<ul class="summary-list"><li>Christine Dawood recounted to The New York Times the excitement that her husband had for the Titan trip.</li><li>"He was like a vibrating toddler," she told the Times of her husband, businessman Shahzada Dawood.</li></ul><p>Shahzada Dawood had long been fascinated by the history of the Titanic, the famed passenger liner that sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean after hitting an iceberg during its maiden voyage in 1912.</p><p>So when the British-Pakistani businessman had an opportunity to take a voyage to the bottom of the ocean to view the wreckage last month, he was eager to embark on OceanGate's Titan submersible, taking along his son, Suleman Dawood.</p><p>Both men were killed — alongside <a href="https://www.insider.com/stockton-rush-ceo-shut-down-oceangate-before-operating-unsafe-sub-2023-6">Stockton Rush</a>, the chief executive officer of OceanGate, explorer <a href="https://www.insider.com/hamish-harding-billionaire-titanic-submersible-titan-space-tourist-blue-origin-2023-6" rel="">Hamish Harding</a>, and <a href="https://www.insider.com/paul-henri-nargeolet-helped-private-company-excavate-artifacts-from-titanic-2023-6">Paul-Henri Nargeolet</a> — after the submersible suffered a catastrophic implosion on its way to the site of the shipwreck.</p><p>Even though the voyage ended tragically, Christine Dawood, the wife of Shahzada Dawood, recounted to The New York Times the excitement that her husband had at being able to explore the ocean.</p><p>While Suleman, who was just 19, <a href="https://www.insider.com/teenager-died-titan-brought-rubiks-cube-guinness-world-record-attempt-2023-6">carried</a> a Rubik's Cube as he entered the submersible, Shahzada carried his Nikon camera and looked forward to snapping images of the ocean floor from the vessel's porthole.</p><p>"He was like a vibrating toddler," Christine told the newspaper of her husband. "It was a good morning."</p><div type="image" title="A side view of the Titan submersible in water." height="550" width="734" msid="101439562" hostid="261" sizebytes="37800"></div><p>Christine told The Times that she last saw Shahzada and Suleman as they were on a floating platform on June 18, which was Father's Day, and observed the pair as they entered the Titan submersible from a support ship.</p><p>Divers then sealed the five occupants inside the vessel before it was moved into the water, roughly 13,000 feet above the site of the Titanic's wreckage.</p><p>Christine then told The Times that she overheard an individual state that communication with the Titanic had ceased, which the US Coast Guard said had occurred an hour and 45 minutes into the vessel's descent.</p><p>She was told that the communication between the submersible and the ship could sometimes be spotty, and if there was a disruption that lasted for over an hour, the trip would end and the occupants would return to the surface, according to The Times.</p><p>The newspaper's report also noted that Shahzada and Suleman nearly missed their trip aboard the Titan after experiencing a flight cancelation, as well as a delay.</p><p>"We were actually quite worried, like, oh my god, what if they cancel that flight as well?" Christine told the Times. "In hindsight, obviously, I wish they did."</p>

The limited capabilities made for a pretty archaic experience, which was terribly frustrating for anyone who wanted to experiment with the the added benefits of a standalone camera - a higher megapixel count, stronger zoom, minimal glare - and then quickly share those results on Instagram or Facebook. </p><p>For the average photographer, it became easier to rely on, say, an iPhone camera, than Canon's superior cameras (like its mirrorless 24.2-megapixel M5 camera it released in 2016), even if some quality or control was lost in the process. But with the new M50 camera, standalone camera owners can roam around with lenses on their necks without the headache of transferring images to be shared later.</p><p>Nikon actually beat Canon to the punch in 2016 when it released <a href="http://snapbridge.nikon.com/">SnapBridge</a> on its D500. SnapBridge allowed for automatic uploads between Nikon cameras and Bluetooth-supported devices they were connected to, but it wasn't a perfect experience at launch (a "2.0" version has since released). Canon's newest camera solves one of the biggest problems with standalone cameras in the age of smartphones

While everyone was expecting the goods and services tax (GST) rollout to put a halt o the <keyword id="836280" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="online-sales">online sales</keyword> at most popular e-commerce websites, it doesn’t seem to have had much of an impact as most of these sites continue to offer as much as 80% discounts on some products.<br /><br /> GST was supposed to increase the price of some products, which led to vendors registered with e-commerce platforms like <keyword id="6354742" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Flipkart">Flipkart</keyword>, <keyword id="6354743" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Amazon-India">Amazon India</keyword> and <keyword id="4225623" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Paytm-Mall">Paytm Mall</keyword> stocking up their inventory to supplement the increased demand. <br /><br /> Not only this, sellers that didn’t comply with GST and have now been reportedly delisted from these platforms, also cleared their stock off at absurdly low price points.<br /><br /> While Flipkart is offering discounts up to 70% on various fashion products, including bags and watches on its own fashion labels <keyword id="4667923" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Divastri">Divastri</keyword> and <keyword id="4720590" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Metronaut">Metronaut</keyword>, Amazon India is offering similar deals for global brands.<br /><br /> "Sellers on these marketplaces have a significant upside in volume of sales since they are able to reach customers across the country," Utkarsh Biradar, Senior VP - Products at <keyword id="6357066" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="ShopClues">Shopclues</keyword>, told <a href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/startups/80-discounts-continue-as-e-commerce-unaffected-despite-gst-rollout/articleshow/59484076.cms">ET</a>. "We do not see any difference in taxes on goods sold online and offline even with GST and hence consumption or demand is unlikely to change." <br /><br /> Similarly, customers are also inclined towards buying furniture, even as plywood now attracts 28% GST. Furniture e-commerce platform Pepperfry is holding a 'Happy GST Sale,' under which it is offering up to 55% discount, while at Flipkart, home and furnishing items are being sold at 80% off. <br /><br /> Even though books and cameras now attract 18% GST, Flipkart sellers are offering great deals on Canon and Nikon cameras, while those with Amazon are offering up to 50% off on certain books.<br /><br /> "What seems to have happened is that e-commerce sites have woken up to the fact that GST would bring uncertainty in the minds of customers on whether prices would go up or down," says Senior Director at Deloitte India, MS Mani.<br /><br /> "In this scenario, customers are buying products and e-commerce sites are simply tapping in on that sentiment. The <a href="https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/mirrorless-cameras/1595/z-6.html">Z6 starts at $1,999</a>, and the <a href="https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/mirrorless-cameras/z-7.html">Z7 starts at $3,999, </a>plus the cost of any additional lenses, and they will be released this fall. The Z7 is the flagship model, with a higher resolution and more available focus points. </p><p>Though the prices are a bit steep, and mirrorless might seem like a meaningless buzzword, the new cameras do have some notable improvements over existing technology.</p><p>Mirrorless cameras don't use the traditional, mirrored viewfinder design found in most cameras to date. Instead, they use an electronic viewfinder or a live-view screen on the back. This allows for a reduced size and overall simpler design - which means you can get a full-frame camera in a much smaller package. </p><p>Nikon's new mirrorless lineup will be competing with Sony, which has dominated the mirrorless DSLR market for years.</p><p>. Paired up against Sony's Alpha a7R III mirrorless camera, Nikon's Z7 boasts slightly more megapixels (45.7 to Sony's 42), but has continuous shooting of 9 frames per second compared to the a7R III's 10 frames. The Z7 also features a slightly lower ISO speed of 64, when the a7R bottoms out at 100. After years of utilizing the popular F mount design, Nikon has developed the Z mount for these new mirrorless cameras. The Z mount lenses differ in look from the traditional F mount Nikon lenses you're probably used to seeing. However, with the additional ($250) FTZ lens adapter, you can use the old F mount lenses on the new lens system. </p><p>Two Z mount lenses will be available upon launch - a 24-70mm f/4 kit lens, and a 50mm f/1.8 lens. The mirrorless format allows for silent shooting - meaning no distracting shutter sound, if desired. Nikon is challenging Sony's mirrorless camera dominance with two new cameras that pack great image quality into a small package

<p>Now, more than 600,000 people look for her daily updates, either photos or videos of her in insanely difficult yoga poses, while donning funky patterned leggings.</p>
<p>The New Jersey resident and mother of two has been doing yoga for 16 years, usually really early in the morning, before anyone in her house is awake. </p>
<p>She started her Instagram account about two years ago, when her niece asked her to "follow her" on the platform. </p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">So how does she get those perfect shots every single time? </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">There's a lot more to it than you think. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">After she finishes practicing yoga, Kasperzak sets </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">the timer on her Nikon camera to photograph herself working on what she practiced on that morning. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Then the camera takes one photo every 2 seconds, and </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">she chooses the best frame to upload to Instagram.</span></p>
<h3>The photos that earned Laura Kasperzak 600,000 followers</h3>

<h3>From Instagram to full-blown business owner</h3>
<p>Thanks to a massive following, she was able to join up with <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">her high school friend Masumi Goldman to create <a href="http://www.twofitmoms.com/bios/">TwoFitMoms</a>, a business that focuses on health, nutrition, and, of course, yoga. </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The two 36-year-olds currently offer weekly, <a href="http://www.twofitmoms.com/bios/">affordable classes (just $5!)</a> and occasional workshops in New Jersey, and the friends have started leveraging their following to help build the brand. </span></p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"These monthly challenges were a huge hit with the growing Instagram </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">community, and our followers seemed to appreciate the detailed instructions and commitment </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">to teaching," Goldman said. "Laura suggested we attend a yoga teacher training program to become certified </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">yoga instructors. That was the first step in making our Instagram hobby a more serious </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">endeavor and, ultimately, a business."</span></p>
<h3><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">Haters to the left</span></h3>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">With 600,000 followers and images that focus mainly on Kasperzak's body in yoga poses, we wondered if she ever avoids the comments, as one typically does on the Internet. But to the contrary, she reads every one.</span></p>
<p>"I usually just delete and ignore the rude and insensitive comments. Sometimes I will respond if <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">I feel as if they just don't know about yoga or what I am doing," Kasperzak said, adding, "but t</span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">here are so many positive comments that outweigh the negative."</span></p>
<h3><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">What's next?</span></h3>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The women are looking forward to traveling over the next year and growing their business.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">"We can't wait to meet more of our followers [on Instagram]," Kasperzak said. "We're excited."</span></p>

This New Jersey Mom Is Instagram's Hottest Yoga Star

Many companies there focus solely on their app presence, so there's much more app-only content.&#xa0;</p><p><span>"Google needs to be able to provide an answer there,"&#xa0;d</span>irector of mobile search told <a href="http://marketingland.com/google-app-streaming-web-of-apps-152449">Marketing Land's Danny Sullivan</a>. &#xa0;</p><p>App streaming would also allow people with feature phones that can access a browser but not download apps to still get an in-app experience.&#xa0;</p><h2>More exposure for developers&#xa0;</h2><p>Although it sounds counter-intuitive that it could be good for developers to have less people downloading their apps, these new features will likely bring them more exposure overall and get users over the first hurdle of testing out their service.</p><p>For example, if you didn't see Hotel Tonight's app-only content appearing in search results, you may never know about the service at all. And if you have to download the app before testing it, you may be more likely to use a desktop service like Kayak.&#xa0;</p><p>It gives these services a way to engage with users they otherwise would not have had the chance to, so it's a win almost regardless if they get an install as a result.</p><h2>Keeping Google search relevant on mobile&#xa0;</h2><p>Google hopes that&#xa0;<span>showing app-only content in search results and letting users view the info in their mobile browser without downloading the app</span>&#xa0;will help its search engine remain users' main gateway to online content in the era of smartphones.</p><p>Google recently announced that <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/more-people-now-search-google-on-their-phone-than-from-their-computers-2015-10">more than half of its search queries come from mobile</a>.&#xa0;But that stat crashes into another one: That people spend most of their time on smartphones within specific apps&#xa0;- so much that app usage now&#xa0;<a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/the-number-of-people-using-search-engines-is-in-decline-2015-9">represents 86% of time spent on mobile</a>, according to analytic company Flurry.</p><p>Google wants users to keep searching for "best hotels in Chicago" or "Nikon camera" through its engine rather than starting on HotelTonight&#xa0;or Amazon, because that allows it to sell ads against those searches.&#xa0;</p><p>If users realize that they can access in-app content through search, they're more likely to keep using Google search on their smartphones.
