<ul><li>The benchmark <keyword id="2931774" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty50">Nifty50</keyword> index crossed the 16k milestone for the first time. </li><li>It took only 6 months to grow by 1,000 points, or 6.7%. </li><li>Check out the list of the top ten stocks in the <keyword id="6151982" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty200">Nifty200</keyword> index by volume traded. </li></ul>India's benchmark Nifty50 index crossed a key milestone for the first time, setting a new record, after facing resistance around the 16,000 level for a few weeks now. The Nifty50 index took nearly 6 months to gain 1,000 points, which is growth of 6.7% from the 15,000 level. So far in 2021, the benchmark index is up by over 14%. The Nifty200 index has also been positive overall, with two out of every three stocks registering an increase today. In the index, 132 stocks registered an increase and 67 stocks declined. One stock remained unchanged. Overall, the Nifty200 index was up by 1.26%, with the total volume crossing 1.9 billion. Vodafone Idea, Punjab National Bank and BHEL were amongst the top 10 stocks by volume to end the day in red. Top ten stocks by number of shares traded today

The tax on share buybacks did not go well with foreign investors and neither did the proposal to increase the free float-- shares publicly held for trading-- to 35% from the existing 25%. Sensex and Nifty have hit a 5-month low and the fall will be sharper hereon

Indian <keyword id="19900617" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="stock-markets" source="keywords">stock markets</keyword> opened flat on Thursday with a marginal dip, as <keyword id="19908188" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="global-markets" source="keywords">global markets</keyword> faced pressure from weak <keyword id="20030592" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="economic-data" source="keywords">economic data</keyword> in the U.S. The <keyword id="20641216" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty-50" source="keywords">Nifty 50</keyword> index opened with a dip of 52 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 25,093.35 points, while the <keyword id="19950208" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="BSE-Sensex" source="keywords">BSE Sensex</keyword> index declined by 0.04 per cent, or 30 points, to open at 82,171.64 points. Experts highlighted that the stock markets are facing pressure as major economic data, including the US monthly payroll data, is due this week. If this report also comes weak, the markets may slide further. "US Monthly Payrolls data day is here. Another poor report will raise chances for a 50 bps cut on Sep 18th. A strong report will limit expectations to a 25 bps cut. US markets have been seeing outflows in the last two weeks and we expect this trend to continue as investors take a risk off stance going into Sep 18th. Indian markets will take their cues from these global developments. In the broad market on the National Stock Exchange, Nifty Next 50, Nifty 100, Nifty 200, and other major indices faced pressure during the opening session. In the sectoral indices, Nifty Bank, Nifty Auto, and Nifty FMCG faced selling pressure, while Nifty IT, Nifty Media, and Nifty Pharma gained. "The Nifty 50 formed a small negative candle on the daily chart. The previous downside gap from 4th September remains a significant resistance around 25,250 levels. This technical pattern suggests a lack of market strength to overcome this resistance, indicating potential further consolidation. The short-term trend for Nifty remains choppy with a bearish bias" said Varun Aggarwal, MD, Profit Idea. In global markets, US indices closed lower for the third consecutive day. The S&amp;P 500 fell 0.3 per cent to 5,503.41, while the Dow Jones dropped 0.54 per cent to 40,755.75. Conversely, the Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.25 per cent to 17,127.66. Asian markets showed mixed performances with Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.05 per cent to 36,674, while Korea's KOSPI declined 0.95 per cent to 2,551, and the Asia Dow fell 0.53 per cent to 3,475.36. The Shanghai Composite in China increased 0.12 per cent to 2,792. On Thursday, the domestic indices declined, influenced by selling pressure in select heavyweights and negative global cues. The Sensex decreased by 151.48 points, closing at 82,201.16, while the Nifty 50 fell by 53.60 points, or 0.21 per cent, to end at 25,145.10. Volatility continues in Indian stocks as US payroll data due today

Both <keyword id="19896382" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sensex" source="keywords">Sensex</keyword> and <keyword id="19896381" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nifty" source="keywords">Nifty</keyword> made a sharp rebound from their previous day lows, which came on the back of weak <keyword id="22682523" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="US-employment-data" source="keywords">US employment data</keyword> and <keyword id="22682524" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Yens-carry-trade" source="keywords">Yen's carry trade</keyword> unwinding. Almost all broad market indices, including Nifty mid caps and small caps rebounded by over 1%, with micro caps rising about 2.19% in early trade. India VIX fell 14.10%, after inching up around 42% yesterday. All sectoral indices also opened the day in green, with auto, metal and realty correcting over 2% during early morning trade. Aditya Gaggar, director of Progressive Shares noted that in the lower time frame, an extremely oversold condition was observed, and thus, a short-term pullback is warranted. The immediate support is placed at 23,860 while on the higher side, 24,250 will be considered a hurdle. "After a steep fall in the previous session, a strong reversal was seen in the global markets and an early indication from GIFT Nifty (+200 points) suggests the same, now sustainability at the higher levels will be a key factor to watch out for. We saw particular buying interest in new-age companies after Zomato's Q1 numbers. Technically, the market managed to climb to new highs during the week. Nifty and Sensex achieved major milestones by crossing 25000 on the Nifty and 82000 on the Sensex. However, currently, most stocks and indices are close to important resistance levels, and we may see consolidation for a few days or weeks", said Athawale. "On an immediate basis, the market is finding support between 24,600/80,900 and 24,500/80,600 levels. On the other hand, until the market crosses 25,100/82,200, we may see a range-bound movement in the market. The strategy should be to buy selective stocks between 24,600 and 24,500/80,900 and 80,600 levels. A close below 24,500/80,600 may take the market towards 24,250/79,900 or 24,100/79,500 levels. Any bounce towards 24,900-25,000/81,700-82000 levels will be an opportunity to reduce long positions", he continued.

Nifty tops 17,000 points to set a new record ⁠— the fastest 1,000 point rally in the history of India’s benchmark index

New Delhi, Jul 2 () Vedanta Ltd will be dropped from NSE's benchmark index Nifty 50 and other indices from July 31 on account of the company's proposed voluntary delisting. In its place, HDFC Life Insurance Company will be included in the Nifty 50 index, NSE Indices, a subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) said in a statement. Apart from that, Vedanta will be excluded from Nifty 500, Nifty 200, Nifty 100 and Nifty LargeMidcap 250 indices. SBI Cards and Payment Services would replace Vedanta in these indices. New Delhi, Feb 18 () Shree Cement will replace private lender Yes Bank in the benchmark index Nifty 50 from March 27, NSE Indices, a subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), said on Tuesday. Further, Vodafone Idea, Ashok Leyland, Indiabulls Housing Finance, L&amp;T Finance Holdings and Shree Cement will be dropped from Nifty Next 50, NSE Indices said in a statement. Adani Transmission, IDBI Bank, Info Edge (India) Ltd, Larsen &amp; Toubro Infotech and Torrent Pharmaceuticals would be added in Nifty Next 50 index. Changes have been made in several indices including Nifty 500, Nifty 200, Nifty 100, Nifty Midcap 150, Nifty Smallcap 250 and host of sectoral indices including FMCG, IT, media, pharma, commodities and services sector. NSE Indices' Index Maintenance Sub-Committee has decided to make the replacement of stocks in various indices as part of its periodic review. These changes would become effective from March 27, 2020. Also, NSE Indices has revised the eligibility criteria for inclusion in Nifty's 17 sectoral indices. Under the new criteria, companies should be a part of Nifty 500 at the time of review. In case, the number of eligible stocks representing a particular sector within Nifty 500 falls below 10, then deficit number of stocks shall be selected from the universe of stocks ranked within top 800 based on both average daily turnover and average daily full market capitalisation based on previous six months period data used for index.
