Shares of <keyword id="47918" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Neyveli-Lignite">Neyveli Lignite</keyword> Corp. hit a 10-month high after the <keyword id="131681" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="miner">miner</keyword> announced a modest rise in quarterly profit on the back of higher output. 
 
Neyveli Lignite said its first quarter Net Profit rose 10 percent to 367 crore rupees compared with 334 crore rupees in the same quarter a year ago. Sales during April-June surged 22 percent to 1,843.7 crore rupees from 1,510.5 crore rupees in the year ago period. 
 
Neyveli Lignite 7.60 rupees, or 9 percent, to 92.70 rupees, its highest since Nov 4th, on the National Stock Exchange, where 26 lakh shares were traded by 2:30 pm compared with the 5-day average of 1.1 lakh shares. 
 
Neyveli Lignite's market capitalisation has remained flat at 14,621 crore rupees in the past one year as investors stayed away from commoditized players.

The company's board has also approved a proposal for incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary company to take over the existing renewable assets. "The board of directors approved the following issuance of bonds in the nature of debentures up to Rs 5,000 crore in tranches during the FY 2023-24," the company said in a regulatory filing. Under the <keyword id="273072" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ministry-of-coal" source="Orion">Ministry of Coal</keyword>, <keyword id="3561351" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="nlc-india" source="Orion">NLC India</keyword> operates three opencast lignite mines having a total of capacity 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Neyveli in <keyword id="20154" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="tamil-nadu" source="Orion">Tamil Nadu</keyword>, one opencast lignite mine at Barsingsar in Rajasthan with an installed capacity of 2.10 MTPA and an open cast coal mine at Talabira in Odisha with an installed capacity of 20 MTPA. Around 8.2 lakh members of retirement fund body <keyword id="6372438" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="epfo">EPFO</keyword> and private PF trusts have dipped into their savings and withdrew ₹3,243.17 crore to sustain in the lockdown imposed by the government to contain COVID-19. Earlier last month on March 28, the <keyword id="6423266" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="employees-provident-fund-organisation">Employees Provident Fund Organisation</keyword> (EPFO) had allowed formal sector workers under its ambit to withdraw a non-refundable advance from their <keyword id="415826" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="retirement-savings">retirement savings</keyword> to deal with hardships due to lockdown. "EPFO under <keyword id="602690" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Union-ministry-of-labour">Union Ministry of Labour</keyword> &amp; Employment, has settled a total of 12.91 lakhs claims, including 7.40 lakhs COVID-19 claims under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) package," a Labour Ministry statement said. Claims settlement involves disbursal of total amount of ₹4,684.52 crore which includes ₹2,367.65 crore COVID claims under the PMGKY package. The exempted private PF trusts have also risen to the occasion amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry said. As on April 27, 2020, ₹875.52 crore have been disbursed to 79,743 PF members as advance for COVID-19 by the exempted PF Trusts under this scheme, with 222 private sector establishments disbursing ₹338.23 crore to 54,641 beneficiaries, 76 public sector establishments disbursing ₹524.75 crores to 24,178 beneficiaries and 23 cooperative sector establishments disbursing ₹12.54 crores to 924 claimants, it said. Private PF trusts manage their employees' PF money and account themselves. They are exempted to file monthly PF return and thus also called exempted establishments. Tata Consultancy Services Mumbai, HCL Technologies Ltd. Gurugram and HDFC Bank Powai, Mumbai are the top three exempted establishments in the private sector, both in terms of number of claims settled and amount disbursed, it said. In public sector, ONGC Dehradun, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Neyveli and BHEL Trichy are the top three exempted establishments to have settled maximum number of COVID-19 advance claims; whereas, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Neyveli, ONGC Dehradun and Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant Vishakhapatnam are top three establishments in terms of amount disbursed to EPF members, it said. The provision for a special withdrawal from the EPF Scheme to fight COVID-19 pandemic is part of the PMGKY scheme announced by the government and an urgent notification on the matter was made to introduce a para 68 L (3) of the EPF Scheme on 28th March, 2020. Under this provision non-refundable withdrawal to the extent of the basic wages and dearness allowances for three months or up to 75 per cent of the amount standing to member's credit in the EPF account, whichever is less, is provided. Despite only one-third staff being able to work due to lockdown, EPFO is committed to serve its members during this difficult situation and EPFO offices are functional to help them during these testing times, it said. Workers have withdrawn over ₹3,200 crore from their retirement savings to survive the Coronavirus lockdown

New Delhi, Feb 5 () The CISF has taken over the security of a Uttar Pradesh-based supercritical thermal power plant and has deployed over 300 personnel at the facility, a senior official said on Wednesday.The induction of an armed security unit of the force and a separate fire wing took place on Monday at the Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd (NUPPL) located at Ghatampur in Kanpur."310 personnel -- 206 for security duties and 104 as part of the fire wing -- have been deployed at the power plant. The induction took place on February 3," a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) spokesperson said.NUPPL is a joint venture between the Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd (a Union government enterprise) and the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. It is a coal-based supercritical thermal power plant with a capacity of 1,980 MW."In the light of the increased threat perception to coal-based supercritical thermal power plants situated across the country, NUPPL is inherently vulnerable to threats from anti-nationals," the spokesperson said.The ceremonial induction of the contingent was done by CISF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prabodh Chandra and NUPPL CEO K Mohan Reddy.The CISF commandos, under the command of a Deputy Commandant-rank officer, will provide round-the-clock security in a quick response team (QRT) pattern as part of which they will keep vigil from vantage positions at the facility, using sophisticated assault weapons and will have vehicles for swift movement.They will ensure that terror threats to the power plant are kept at bay and thwarted, a senior official said.The special fire unit will secure the facility against any blaze-like incidents.The paramilitary force, with a strength of around 1.62 lakh personnel, is the primary federal force to provide armed security cover to vital installations in the government and private domain of the country, apart from being the national civil aviation protection force.With the latest induction, the force has 347 units to guard in the country, the spokesperson said. UP-based thermal power plant gets CISF security and fire cover

New Delhi, Apr 14 () State-owned NLC India has discontinued the use of eight disinfection tunnels installed as a safety measure for its employees against Covid-19 following concerns raised about its effectiveness and the harm it may cause to human health, an official said. "The PSU was operating eight disinfection tunnels at its power plants, townships and hospital. But three days ago the company stopped using it on the directions issued by the state government of Tamil Nadu," a company source told . The company, which was in the process of setting up two more such disinfection tunnels, will not do so now due the concerns raised by the government, he added. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Chennai, recently instructed all government departments in Tamil Nadu not to install such tunnels. It said that "disinfection tunnels will create a false sense of security and people may be diverted from handwash to disinfection tunnels. In addition, the spraying of alcohol/chlorine/lysol on human beings is not only harmful but also ineffective." "....it is instructed that disinfection tunnels should not be installed and used," it said. A company official had earlier said that "NLC Thermal team has fabricated disinfecting tunnels by using packing material and spares available with power plants which are now being used by all the power plants and mines in Neyveli." The company had earlier said disinfecting tunnels were set up to ensure protection of all employees before they entered the plants and mines. New Delhi, Apr 10 () From setting up 'fever clinic' to 'disinfecting tunnel', NLC India has taken several initiatives to ensure the safety of its employees against the deadly Covid-19. The navratna said, the disinfecting tunnel ensures protection to all employees before they enter the plants and mines, while fever clinic is for those with symptoms like fever, cough and breathing difficulties. "NLC Thermal team has fabricated disinfecting tunnels by using packing material and spares available with power plants which are now being used by all the power plants and mines in Neyveli," a company official said. Moreover, NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has introduced 'fever clinic' which function from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM for symptomatic patients who have a travel history to affected places and those who report with symptoms like fever, cough and breathing difficulties, the official said. Such patients with symptoms and travel history are recommended for home quarantine, he added Moreover, through public screening and massive door-to-door enumeration, the company has also identified symptomatic patients who have a travel history to affected places. Based on recommendation of the doctors, they have been home quarantined, the official said adding that till date 460 persons have been home quarantined. Moreover, a taskforce consisting of trained volunteers are monitoring the status of persons home quarantined. With the co-ordination of state government health department, stickers have been pasted at the residents of persons quarantined for better screening and control, the official said. Covid-19: NLC India sets up 'fever clinic', 'disinfecting tunnel' to ensure employees' safety

The <keyword id="6354813" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="nifty">Nifty</keyword> snapped a 2-day rally on Friday as traders remained on sidelines ahead of the weekend and concentrated more on earnings related stocks rather than blue chips.
 

	The Nifty fell 24 points to end the week at 8,565. Its Advance-Decline ratio was 16/34 with BHEL, Coal India, State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda leading the loser's side. ONGC, Tata Motors, BPCL and Vedanta were on the gainers list on the Index, which added 0.4 percent this week. BHEL was the most actively traded stock on the Nifty with 2.02 crore shares changing hands.
 

	There was all-round profit booking with major indices such as CNX Nifty Junior, CNX 100, CNX 200 and CNX 500 ending in the red.
 

	
		
			The Bank Nifty dropped 134 points to 18,893 as traders booked partial gains after a 6-day advance. The CNX PSU bank Index was the top loser, down 2.4 percent. The trend in other sectoral indices was bearish. CNX Metals, CNX IT, CNX Media and CNX FMCG lost ground. 
		 
		
			On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the <keyword id="6484188" type="CITY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Sensex">Sensex</keyword> fell 62 points to close at 28,237 points. NTPC, Bajaj Auto, Cipla and TCS were the top losers on the Index, whereas Hindalco, Sun Pharma and Infosys posted modest gains. The Advance-Decline Ratio stood at a negative 10/20 on the Sensex, which rose 0.5 percent this week.
		 
		
			
				
					Bears dominated the wider market for the second day running with just 1,373 stocks gaining ground versus 1,547 fell below Thursday's closing prices.
				 
				
					The trend remained flat in the derivatives space with Nifty Futures closing just a shade below the 8,600-point mark. Media, Capital goods, Fertilisers and Textiles sectors were top prices losers with rising open interest. The Advance-Decline Ratio favoured the bears with a ratio of 63/96 in the futures and Options market. 
				 
				
					The weekly picture favoured beaten down stocks with top gainers including: JP Power, JP Associates, Union Bank and Ceat. Top losers were led by JSW Energy, India Cements, BHEL and Coal India.
				 
				
					BHEL was the biggest disappointment when it came to earnings, as also Bombay Dyeing and Monte Carlo. Big cheers were reserved for KEI Industries, Neyveli Lignite, Finolex Industries and Repco Home Finance that announced brilliant set of numbers.
