It retains other design elements such as a full-width LED light bar, a closed grille and more. The electric SUV is also equipped with the same Gen-2 permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power output of 145 bhp and 215 Nm of peak torque. The <keyword id="13572475" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-nexon-ev" source="Orion">new Nexon EV</keyword> 45 kWh battery variant offers an ARAI claimed range of 489 km. The company’s C75 range, which the company estimates based on real-world usage is around 370 km. The car can be charged from 10 to 80% in around 40 minutes using a 60 kW fast charger. The company has also launched the Dark Red edition of the Nexon EV. This is similar to other Dark Red editions launched by the company. It features a Carbon Black colour option, featuring blacked-out roof rails, alloy wheels, ORVMs and grille. On the inside, the SUV features a black and red theme. Tata Nexon EV with a bigger battery launched starting at ₹13.99 lakh

<keyword id="19906967" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-motors" source="keywords">Tata Motors</keyword> on Tuesday said its electric vehicle arm has reduced prices of two models -- <keyword id="20563981" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nexon-ev" source="keywords">Nexon.ev</keyword> and Tiago.ev -- by up to Rs 1.2 lakh on account of reduction in battery cost. The auto major has cut the price of Nexon.ev by up to Rs 1.2 lakh and now the model price starts at Rs 14.49 lakh. Similarly, the company has reduced the prices of Tiago.ev by up to Rs 70,000 with the base model now starting at Rs 7.99 lakh, Tata Motors said in a statement. Introductory prices of the recently-launched <keyword id="20078457" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="punch-ev" source="keywords">Punch.ev</keyword> remain unchanged as they already factor in reduction in battery cost in the foreseeable future, it added. "Battery costs constitute a substantial part of the overall cost of an EV. "With battery cell prices having softened in the recent past and considering their potential reduction in the foreseeable future, we have chosen to proactively pass on the resulting benefits directly to customers," <keyword id="20078455" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="tata-passenger-electric-mobility" source="keywords">Tata Passenger Electric Mobility</keyword> (TPEM) Chief Commercial Officer Vivek Srivatsa said. While EVs have grown rapidly over the last few years, the company's mission is to accelerate the mainstream adoption of EVs by making them more accessible nationwide, he added. EVs have shown a strong growth momentum and are substantially outperforming the overall passenger vehicle industry growth, Tata Motors said. In 2023, the EV segment grew by over 90 per cent against the 8 per cent growth recorded by the PV industry, it said. This growth momentum has continued in 2024 as well with EV sales registering a 100 per cent year-on-year growth in January 2024. TPEM with over 70 per cent market share is the leader in this fast-growing segment, the automaker stated. Tata Motors cuts EV prices by up to ₹1.2 lakh as battery cost dips

But <keyword id="19897758" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Samsung" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="Samsung" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="Samsung">Samsung</keyword>’s recent announcement may put those worries to rest. The tech giant is testing a <keyword id="22661253" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="solid-state" source="keywords">solid-state</keyword> <keyword id="20173742" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="battery" source="keywords">battery</keyword> that promises a driving range of about 1000 kilometres and can charge in just 9 minutes. Unveiled at the SNE Battery Day 2024 expo in Seoul, this breakthrough could transform the EV landscape. <h2>The future is solid (state)</h2>Samsung's new battery technology, based on solid-state principles, boasts impressive credentials. Unlike traditional <keyword id="21033572" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="lithium-ion" source="keywords">lithium-ion</keyword> batteries, solid-state batteries replace the liquid electrolyte with a solid material. This change enhances safety, reduces weight, and increases energy density. Samsung's prototype has an energy density of 500 Wh/kg, nearly double that of current mainstream EV batteries which typically hover around 270 Wh/kg. Further, these batteries have a reported lifespan of 20 years. “We built a pilot line last year to mass-produce all-solid-state batteries by 2027,” Samsung SDI told The Elec. The initial batches of these batteries have already been delivered to EV manufacturers for testing, and the feedback has been reportedly overwhelmingly positive. <h2><keyword id="20204471" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="charging" source="keywords">Charging</keyword> ahead of the competition</h2>The standout feature of Samsung’s solid-state battery is its rapid charging capability. Charging from 10% to 80% in just 9 minutes is a game-changer. For comparison, many of today's EVs require anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to reach a similar charge level, depending on the battery and charging station used. Currently, in India, the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV, two popular models, take about 60 minutes to charge from 0% to 80% using a fast charger. <div type="Article" hostid="261" msid="112184747" title="EV-iction notice: Why are electric vehicle owners switching back to petrol and diesel (ICE) cars?" mstype="2" mssubtype="0"></div>However, <keyword id="4393078" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ola-electric" source="Orion">Ola Electric</keyword> is also testing new battery technology which promises improved range and charging times. As per reports, their new indigenous cells carry five times the energy compared to their imported counterparts from South Korea. Chairman Bhavish Aggarwal has noted that they are also experimenting on solid state batteries at the moment. <h2>The high cost of innovation and road ahead</h2>While the technology is promising, it’s not without its challenges. The initial high production costs mean that Samsung’s solid-state batteries will likely debut in the “super premium” EV segment. CATL’s recent announcement of a battery with a 20-year lifespan aligns with Samsung's vision. The competition is fierce, but Samsung’s entry into the solid-state battery market could tip the scales. Samsung’s solid-state battery represents a significant leap forward in battery technology. With a potential range of 1000 kilometres and the ability to charge in 9 minutes, it addresses two of the biggest concerns for EV owners: range anxiety and long charging times. While the initial high costs mean that it will be a while before this technology becomes mainstream, the future of EVs looks incredibly promising!

This debut also comes when Tata Motors has registered its highest-ever annual sales of 19,106 EVs - most of any carmaker in India. The teaser video shows different design elements. The portion behind the C pillar, the front fog light structure, and headlights that are giving aggressive feel. One of the interesting detail was the rear spoiler which gives it a coupe roofline like look. These details suggest that the upcoming car can be a concept on which the upcoming Nexon Coupe EV will be based, but we'll have to wait until its debut. Design and technical details The upcoming Nexon coupe will compete with midsize SUVs. Following its predecessor, all new electric Nexon may come with a 50mm longer wheelbase. There are no details on the powertrain but it is safe to assume the Nexon Coupe will be packed with the same electric motor but with a larger 40kWh battery pack to give a long mileage. We can expect Nexon to have some tasteful roof rails running down its coupe-style roof line as shown in the teaser. It can also feature wheel covers which will reduce drag and increase range. Volvo India is focusing on increasing its electric car market. The C40 Recharge is expected to be launched at a price range of around ₹60 lakh. The C-MPV is expected to have a 2L engine, which Toyota's hybrid technology will power. The car can offer an impressive mileage of 22 kmpl. Maruti Suzuki may launch the C-MPV in late 2023 at an expected price of around ₹20 lakh. <h3 style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:16pt;margin-bottom:4pt;">Nissan X-trail</h3>Nissan recently unveiled the fourth generation of the X-Trail. The Nissan X-Trail is expected to be launched in mid-2023. The X-Trail is an SUV by Nissan that will have two variants of hybrid systems: Strong Hybrid and Mild Hybrid. The car is expected to be launched at around ₹40 lakhs. <h3 style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:16pt;margin-bottom:4pt;">Nissan Qashqai</h3>The Nissan Qashqai is an SUV based on the CMF-C platform, which was jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. The Qashqai is expected to have a 1.3L petrol engine supported by a Mild-Hybrid power motor. The car is expected to be launched at around ₹30 lakhs. The Qashqai is expected to be launched after the Nissan X-Trail so we can expect its launch in late 2023 or early 2024.
