It was the first Indian company to do so. But that wasn’t the only news that caught everyone’s attention. The stock and the company has been buzzing especially during the second half of the year. According to the Wizikey report, Reliance holds the credit for one-third of the total news created by the top 5 companies. The busiest news month for the company was in August, when it held its annual general meeting.  Jet Airways The Indian airlines shut shop in April this year and not surprisingly, that was the month it was mentioned the most.  IndiGo Accompanying Jet Airways in the newsmakers sector, was one of India’s largest airlines – IndiGo. Having gained from the collapse of Jet Airways, with more bookings coming its way, IndiGo too had its fair share of trouble. A feud between its founders Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal over company’s control took an ugly turn.  Tata Sons Tata Sons owe their “newsy” year to one person – Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, when he was appointed the Minister for External Affairs. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance, Jet Airways and other top newsmakers of 2019

<ul><li><keyword id="25952" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Mercedes-Benz">Mercedes-Benz</keyword> India on Friday said it remained the market leader in the domestic luxury car segment for the fifth straight year in 2019.</li><li>In the December quarter, the Pune-based company clocked sales growth of 3.3 per cent, selling 3,781 unit.</li><li>Rival <keyword id="6355119" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="bmw">BMW</keyword> saw its volumes dip 13.8 per cent to 9,641 units in 2019 from 11,105 units in 2018.</li></ul>Mercedes-Benz India on Friday said it remained the market leader in the domestic luxury car segment for the fifth straight year in 2019, selling 13,786 units.
 However, this was 12.7 per cent lower from 2018, when it had sold 15,538 units.
 In the December quarter, the Pune-based company clocked sales growth of 3.3 per cent, selling 3,781 units -- its highest ever quarterly volume, it said in a statement.
 The company also sounded bullish about 2020 and said it will continue with its product offensive, which will begin with the launch of an all-new GLE on January 28.
 The company said it could maintain its pole position on the back of a record 54 per cent growth in its performance vehicles segment led by the CLA, GLA and GLS models, whose new generation variants will be available from Q2 of 2020.
 Mercedes will also be the first luxury car maker to completely transition into BS-VI portfolio with petrol and diesel models shortly.
 "Amidst strong macroeconomic headwinds, our volumes in Q4 also grew by 15.41 percent from Q3 2019, taking the overall volume to 13,786 units in 2019, down 12.7 percent from 2018," the company said.
 Against this, rival BMW saw its volumes dip 13.8 per cent to 9,641 units in 2019 from 11,105 units in 2018. The German carmaker despatched 9,000 BMWs and 641 Minis in the year. Besides, its two-wheeler brand BMW Motorrad sold 2,403 motorcycles last year.
 The third German player Audi is yet to disclose its sales numbers.
 Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and Chief Executive Martin Schwenk said, "We are satisfied with our performance in 2019 despite facing strong macroeconomic headwinds, specifically in the first three quarters. We were able to positively influence customer sentiment with our solutions and achieved the new best ever Q4."
 The year 2020 is going to be another important year for the firm and it continues to be optimistic about mid- to long-term prospects, he added.
 The company had an overwhelming response to its entire BS-IV portfolio and it is now ready with the all-new BS-VI range, ahead of the deadline, he said.
 This year the market will witness a strong product offensive from Mercedes-Benz, beginning with the new GLE, followed by some of the most significant product introductions from its global portfolio, including those without any predecessors, Schwenk said. Mercedes remains India's top luxury car maker for the fifth year in a row

The <keyword id="6355302" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="rupee" source="Orion">rupee</keyword> declined by 36 paise to close at 82.87 (provisional) against the <keyword id="6368584" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="us-dollar" source="Orion">US dollar</keyword> on Tuesday, weighed down by persistent foreign capital outflows from the capital markets. Risk aversion sentiment among investors ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision also impacted trading, forex dealers said. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened lower at 82.63 against the greenback and witnessed a high of 82.60 and a low of 82.87. It finally settled at 82.87, down 36 paise over its previous close of 82.51. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.15 per cent to 104.98. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, climbed 1.73 per cent to USD 79.32 per barrel. In the domestic equity market, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 402.73 points or 0.65 per cent higher at 62,533.30. The broader NSE Nifty rose 110.85 points or 0.60 per cent to 18,608. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the capital markets on Monday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 138.81 crore, according to exchange data. Meanwhile, retail inflation dipped below the RBI's upper tolerance level of 6 per cent for the first time in 11 months in November as softening prices of food items brought relief, but the central bank may wait for more data before pausing hikes in interest rates. As per the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Monday, the consumer price index (CPI) based inflation declined for the second consecutive month to 5.88 per cent in November, from 6.77 per cent in October 2022. It was 4.91 per cent in November last year. India's industrial production contracted by 4 per cent in October, the sharpest fall in 26 months, mainly due to a decline in output of manufacturing and subdued performance of mining and power generation sectors. Rupee declines 36 paise to end at 82.87 against US dollar

Reliance Industries ranked as India's most visible corporate in media

<ul><li>The developing <keyword id="21718" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="asia" source="Orion">Asia</keyword>'s economy will grow 4.2 per cent this year and 4.6 per cent next year, <keyword id="6355976" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="adb" source="Orion">ADB</keyword> said.</li><li>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has lowered its economic growth forecasts for the developing Asia region, amid a worsened global outlook.</li><li>Growth in China is expected to slow in 2022 to 3 per cent against a 3.3 per cent expansion predicted in a September report.</li></ul> The Manila-based bank maintained the gross domestic product growth projections for <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> at 7 per cent this fiscal year and 7.2 per cent next fiscal year. The Bank also added even with the downgraded forecast, developing Asia will still do better than other regions globally, both in terms of growth and inflation. The developing Asia's economy will grow 4.2 per cent this year and 4.6 per cent next year, ADB said in a regular supplement to the <keyword id="1006845" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="asian-development-outlook" source="Orion">Asian Development Outlook</keyword> (<keyword id="199985" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ado" source="Orion">ADO</keyword>) 2022, released on Wednesday. ADB estimated in September that the economy of the region would grow 4.3 per cent in 2022 and 4.9 per cent in 2023. Monetary policy tightening by central banks globally and in the region, the protracted Russian invasion of Ukraine, and recurring lockdowns in the People's Republic of China (PRC) are slowing down developing Asia's recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, ADB said. Restrictions under the "zero-Covid" approach, along with a struggling property market, have led to another downgrade of the PRC's growth outlook. "Asia and the Pacific will continue to recover, but worsening global conditions mean that the region's momentum is losing some steam as we head into the new year," said ADB Chief Economist <keyword id="128536" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="albert-park" source="Orion">Albert Park</keyword>. "Governments will need to work together more closely to overcome the lingering challenges of Covid-19, combat the effects of high food and energy prices--especially on the poor and vulnerable--and ensure a sustainable, inclusive economic recovery." ADB lowered its forecast for inflation in the developing Asia and the Pacific this year to 4.4 per cent from 4.5 per cent. However, the bank raised its projection for next year to 4.2 per cent from 4 per cent, due to lingering inflationary pressures from energy and food. Growth in China, which is the largest economy in Asia, is expected to slow in 2022 to 3 per cent against a 3.3 per cent expansion predicted in a September report. The forecast for next year was cut to 4.3 per cent from 4.5 per cent, due to the global slowdown, according to the Bank. Gross domestic product growth projections for India were maintained at 7 per cent this fiscal year and 7.2 per cent next fiscal year, according to the ADB. Even with the downgraded forecasts, the ADB expects developing Asia will still do better than other regions globally, both in terms of growth and inflation. ADB's growth forecast for <keyword id="53564" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="southeast-asia" source="Orion">Southeast Asia</keyword> this year was raised to 5.5 per cent from 5.1 per cent, amid robust consumption and tourism recovery in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Projections for next year, however, were lowered to 4.7 per cent from 5 per cent due to weakening global demand. The growth forecast for the <keyword id="15779915" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="caucasus-and-central-asia" source="Orion">Caucasus and Central Asia</keyword> this year was upgraded to 4.8 per cent from 3.9 per cent, while the projection for the Pacific was raised to 5.3 per cent from 4.7 per cent, due to a strong tourism recovery in Fiji. We have a clearer picture now.Step one in his reign at Twitter has been cost-cutting, and Musk immediately <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-laid-off-twitter-workers-value-tech-jobs-work-2023-5">cut almost 90% of the company's workers</a>.The bruising move set a trend for the rest of Silicon Valley. CEOs making tough decisions about how to navigate a high-interest rate economy followed suit, and made <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/mark-zuckerberg-year-of-efficiency-working-meta-ai-2023-7">drastic layoffs in the name of efficiency</a>.Then, Musk appeared to try and remake Twitter, or X, in his own image.Presenting himself as an anti-elitiest, free-speech-for-everyone populist, Musk binned Twitter's verification system, which had prioritized journalists, politicians, academics, and celebrities. Anyone can now pay for verification.Having axed most of Twitter's trust and safety team, Twitter's "Community Notes" feature became more responsible for regulating harmful or incorrect posts. At the end of November, Musk went to Israel to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog and visit sites devastated by Hamas' October 7 terrorist attacks. The trip followed his amplification of <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/musk-faces-consequences-for-calling-antisemitic-tweet-actual-truth-2023-11?r=US&amp;IR=T">an antisemitic tweet, which he described as "the actual truth."</a>Earlier in November, at the end of an AI summit hosted by the UK, Musk shared a stage with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. During the discussion, he <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-rishi-sunak-interview-best-quotes-ai-robots-2023-11">described AI as a "magic genie problem."</a>Heads of state of countries including South Korea, India, Turkey, and France have all met Musk this year. In response, Musk challenged Zuckerberg to an MMA fight, that he may or may not have wanted to take place in from of a live audience at the colosseum in Rome. In keeping with some Musk bombast, the fight never happened.He's also fired shots at Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales over the site's requests for donations. He's <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-thinks-openai-sam-altman-made-dangerous-ai-discovery-2023-11">expressed "mixed feelings" about Sam Altman</a>, the ChatGPT boss who he cofounded OpenAI with.Musk also claimed Disney boss Bob Iger should be <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-disney-ceo-bob-iger-comments-should-be-fired-2023-12?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=business-sf&amp;utm_source=twitter">"fired immediately" </a>after the House of Mouse stopped advertising on his platform.Evidently, Musk enjoys having millions of followers at his disposal. But are X's days numbered? The site's revenue is widely thought to have tanked as advertisers fled the platform. One theory: Musk is <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-looks-like-he-is-destroying-x-intentionally-2023-11?r=US&amp;IR=T">deliberately destroying the platform</a> to reduce interest payments on the debt he owes the banks who financed his takeover. Matt Winkler, editor and chief, and founder of of <keyword id="29740" type="CITY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Bloomberg">Bloomberg</keyword> News, is still at the helm, but 6 more editors will be helping out with Bloomberg News' operations.
And no, no one is losing their jobs. In fact there will be some spots open for promotions.

We made progress in every region, on every beat and on every platform. We responded immediately to the unprecedented criticism by adopting new client-data security rules, creating a process to deal with reader complaints and by appointing our first Standards Editor, Tim Quinson. Most important, we remained focused on producing dozens of stories that shaped the investment agenda and changed the behavior of people with the most at stake. And I can't thank you enough.
Your Deals scoops moved billions of dollars in market value; your interviews with heads of state, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron and Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, reflect the unprecedented access Bloomberg News had to the most powerful people in the world. We were consistently ahead on the biggest trends in bank regulation and central bank policy in Europe, Asia and the Americas. We were first to reveal the resurgence of the U.S. car industry and the decline of confidence in gold, and scooped our local and international competitors at every point chronicling the implosion of Eike Batista's business in Brazil.
We also expanded our products. We created First Word for FX and successfully started the Korean language service. We enhanced the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which now tracks the world's 200 wealthiest people, and turned Bloomberg Pursuits into a successful quarterly luxury magazine. Bloomberg Businessweek released its first movie. Bloomberg.com is now the biggest site for business video. More than 150 new employees joined the Bloomberg News family so far this year.
All of this is only the beginning, and we have ambitious plans for the years ahead.
Before elaborating, let me provide some context of Bloomberg News as it evolved from a handful of reporters and editors in 1990 to 2,059 of us today. We started with four bureaus in three time zones. Today, there are 153 spanning the globe and reporting on money in all its forms. When the bureaus struggled to keep up with our customers' insatiable appetite for news, we created a system of reporting teams worldwide in 1998 with two dozen of them. Today, there are 214 teams. At the same time, Bloomberg Markets Magazine became a showcase for enterprise and depth reporting, winning more journalism awards in the ensuing decade than its three main competitors combined. By 2002, we brought print and broadcast news together for the first time, leveraging our news judgment across all media platforms with a management structure that ensured alignment. And in 2008, having gained responsibility for Bloomberg.com three years earlier, we reorganized again with 14 executive editors who would become 15 with the acquisition of BusinessWeek a year later. As we enter our 25th year, we can attribute our success to a willingness to embrace changes that foster the best practices that make us increasingly most influential. It's always been about us, not you, or me, him or her -- about what are WE going to do. You know it's no coincidence that the number of Bloomberg installations surged to 317,000 from 8,500 when Bloomberg News was conceived 24 years ago.
With our growth also come new challenges. Too many of our best stories get lost on the terminal or aren't showcased to the fullest on the platforms beyond the terminal. Some may not be worth doing. Others may be worth even more of our attention. We want to bring more focus to our organization, and that's why we've decided to adapt our management structure for the first time since 2008.
We want to:

<li>Ensure we're ideally positioned for growth</li>
<li>Create more opportunities for career development for our most talented people</li>
<li>Further develop our news products</li>
<li>Make certain that I have more time to focus on our most important initiatives, including greater engagement with our expanding bureaus and newsmaker events</li>
<li>And most of all, foster deeper collaboration among the various parts of Bloomberg News so our five easy pieces of economies, markets, companies, industries and government are aligned.</li>
</ul>
Going forward, we will have six Senior Executive Editors in charge of specific reporting and specific products; three of them will be reporting to me, and three will be reporting to Reto Gregori, who becomes Deputy Editor-in-chief while continuing his chief of staff duties.
Under this simplified structure, Executive Editors will continue to be responsible for their respective areas of coverage and their leadership of the news teams will be essential to our success. Our new approach will help us focus our resources on the most important stories and make it easier to plan coverage across beats and platforms, further increasing the influence of our reporting.
Laurie Hays, who transformed company news during the past five years, becomes Senior Executive Editor for Beat Reporting, reporting to me. She is now responsible for Markets, Finance, Companies, Government and Economy, with the beat executive editors reporting to her. This means that all teams that cover the Five Easy Pieces will be united for the first time.
Chris Collins, the executive editor for Asia, becomes Senior Executive Editor for Breaking News, reporting to me. The regional executive editors as well as the newly created Executive Editor for First Word will report to him. This new structure positions us for further growth of First Word and gives us a unified focus on breaking news in all our bureaus.
Standards Editor Tim Quinson also will be a Senior Executive Editor and report to me.
Josh Tyrangiel, the editor of Bloomberg Businessweek and Bloomberg Digital, becomes Senior Executive Editor for Consumer Products, which will include Bloomberg Businessweek, the Web sites, as well as Projects &amp; Investigations, overseen by Executive Editor Bob Blau, and Muse under Manuela Hoelterhoff. Josh will work with them to make our enterprise reporting as coordinated as possible and to give it the prominence it deserves across all platforms. Josh will report to Reto.
Marty Schenker, the executive editor for TOP, becomes Senior Executive Editor for Terminal News Products and Strategy, also reporting to Reto. Marty's universe includes TOP, Bloomberg Markets magazine as well as Development, and he will lead our efforts to develop news products that our terminal customers need and read.
David Shipley, the senior executive editor for Bloomberg View, will also report to Reto.
As part of this realignment, I'm excited to announce that Ken Kohn, currently the executive editor for Markets, becomes the new executive editor for TOP, succeeding Marty in his current role. Ken will return to New York in 2014.
Laura Zelenko, currently managing editor for emerging markets, succeeds Ken and will oversee all our markets reporting from New York.
Otis Bilodeau, the managing editor for Finance, succeeds Dan Hertzberg as executive editor for the finance teams. Dan plans to retire in February and will be an editor-at-large until then, focusing on the biggest stories.
Kevin Reynolds, the deputy executive editor for First Word and Speed, becomes the new Executive Editor for First Word globally.
David Merritt, currently the managing editor for India, succeeds Chris Collins as executive editor for Asia and will relocate to Hong Kong from Mumbai.
Marco Babic, currently the managing editor for economic data, becomes the executive editor for news data, reporting to Chris Collins.
As already announced, Heather Harris is now the executive editor for Europe, succeeding Tim Quinson. And
Koray Oncel is now our chief information officer, reporting directly to Marty.
To ensure there's greater opportunity for career development, we will post many of the open managing editor and team leader roles on PATH <GO> and welcome applications in the weeks ahead.</GO>
At this point, I'm thrilled to be able to already announce that Jackie Simmons, currently the team leader for Deals in Europe, is the new managing editor for company news in that region, succeeding Heather.
Christine Harper, currently the team leader for finance, becomes the managing editor for finance globally, succeeding Otis.
Katherine Cho, the deputy managing editor for Speed in Asia, becomes the Managing Editor for Speed in that region, while Victoria Richards will focus on First Word Asia.
