NetBlocks, an advocacy group that tracks internet disruptions and shutdowns, has also confirmed the restrictions, The Verge reported. "Confirmed: Internet has been cut in #Myanmar from 1 am Thursday local time, the 46th consecutive night of military-imposed shutdowns," NetBlocks said in a tweet. The move comes two months after the military seized control of the South Asian nation following escalated tensions between the government and the army that erupted after civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party won a clear majority in the November 2020 elections. "Fixed wireless will not be turned on in morning. Confirmed. No Ananda/MMNet/Ooreddoo/etc. With mobile data already off, only fixed-line will remain. Order is temporary but open-ended. Everyone should be making whatever plans are possible," Free Expression Myanmar, a campaign by a group of human rights defenders said in a tweet on Thursday. Suu Kyi was arrested following the coup and has since then been imprisoned. The military has violently cracked down on the ensuing protests. According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a non-profit, at least 543 people have been killed by military forces since the coup. The victims include more than 40 children, according to the NGO Save the Children. Peaceful protests continue in cities throughout the country including in the regions of Mandalay, Magway, Bago and Sagaing and Kayah state. Myanmar's military regime shuts down broadband Internet service in the country

<keyword id="1702307" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Nay-Pyi-Taw">Nay Pyi Taw</keyword>, In the wake of the <keyword id="43597" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Military-coup">military coup</keyword>, <keyword id="6356970" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="myanmar">Myanmar</keyword> has blocked access to micro-blogging platform <keyword id="6354616" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter">Twitter</keyword> and photo-sharing app <keyword id="819905" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Instagram">Instagram</keyword> on Saturday, just two days after the <keyword id="11104" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="country">country</keyword> directed state-owned telecom companies to take a similar actions against social media giant Facebook. A statement issued by Telenor, one of the four operators in Myanmar, said all mobile operators, international gateways and internet service providers in the country received a directive from Myanmar's Ministry of Transport and Communications to suspend social media platforms Twitter and Instagram until further notice, reports Xinhua news agency. The Ministry's directive asked the operators to temporarily suspend the access of Twitter and Instagram under Section 77 of the country's Telecommunications Law, mentioning that the move is made in the name of public interest and stability. The restriction of access to Facebook was imposed on Thursday till Sunday. According to BuzzFeed, Facebook had designated Myanmar a "temporary high-risk location" after a coup earlier this week. The military in Myanmar seized control of the country on Monday over the disputed results of the November 8, 2020 parliamentary polls in which the former ruling party, <keyword id="432869" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-League-for-Democracy">National League for Democracy</keyword> (NLD), obtained more than 80 per cent of the seats and increased its parliamentary majority. Before the coup, the military detained former State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, former President U Win Myint, along with other senior NLD officials. A year-long state of emergency has also been declared. Myanmar blocks access to Twitter and Instagram in wake of military coup

Nay Pyi Taw, <keyword id="6354576" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="facebook">Facebook</keyword> on Sunday removed the main news page run by <keyword id="6356970" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="myanmar">Myanmar</keyword>'s <keyword id="6359526" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="military">military</keyword>, citing <keyword id="42987" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Violation">violation</keyword> of its rules prohibiting the incitement of violence. The move comes a day after two people were killed protesting against the coup, the BBC reported. "In line with our global policies, we've removed the Tatmadaw True News Information Team Page from Facebook for repeated violations of our Community Standards prohibiting incitement of violence and coordinating harm," Facebook said in a statement. The military made use of the page to issue warnings to protesters and spread its allegations that the National League for Democracy's (NLD) win in the election last year was fraudulent. The military has not provided any proof to back its allegations. Earlier this month, the Myanmar military imposed a one-year state of emergency after detaining democratically-elected leader <keyword id="56335" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Aung-San-Suu-Kyi">Aung San Suu Kyi</keyword> and others. Protests against the coup continued on Sunday as thousands of people came out to the streets, demanding the release of <keyword id="44998" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Suu-Kyi">Suu Kyi</keyword> and other members of her NLD party. Facebook earlier this month imposed widespread restrictions on content and profiles run by Myanmar's military to prevent spread of "misinformation" as protests against the military coup continued across the country. Among other military-run accounts, these measures applied to the Myanmar Military Information Team's Facebook Page and to Myanmar Military spokesperson Brigadier-General Zaw Min Tun's Facebook account. Facebook removes Myanmar military's main news page

(Photo Source: twitter/@rashtrapatibhvn) <ul><li><keyword id="6356970" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="myanmar">Myanmar</keyword> has announced that they will provide a ‘visa-on-arrival’ to <keyword id="110519" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-tourists">Indian tourists</keyword> arriving through the international airports of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay. </li><li>The Indian president Ram Nath Kovind is on a visit to Myanmar to discuss various bilateral and multilateral issues including ‘Act East’ policy, and ‘Neighbourhood First’ Policy. </li><li>Last September, the Indian government rolled out its updated policy that allowed free visas to Myanmar tourists. </li></ul>In a bid to foster people-to-people relationships between India and Myanmar, India’s president Ram Nath Kovind is on a state visit to the country. One early outcome from his visit has been a new travel policy introduced by Myanmar, making it easier for Indians to travel to the country. While discussing India’s ‘Act East’ policy and ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, it was announced on Tuesday Myanmar will now provide ‘visa-on-arrival’ to Indian tourists. India’s president tweeted about the new policy, which will grant these visas to Indian travellers arriving through the international airports of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.

 Last September, the Indian government had rolled out visa-free policy for Myanmar tourists. The move was initiated after PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Myanmar, according to a Myanmar Times report. Adding to this, the president said that India’s Northeast region has welcomed and is starting to reap the privileges of ‘Land-border Crossing Agreement’ that was recently inferred. The agreement was <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/myanmar-to-grant-visa-on-arrival-to-indian-tourists-says-president-ram-nath-kovind-1961014">reportedly</a> signed in May this year, and was put into practice in August along with the inauguration of international entry-exit checkpoints at the Tamu-Moreh and the Rihkhawdar-Zokhawthar border.

 Even though, the number of Indian visitors to Myanmar is currently not significant, there is a wide scope of growth and expansion, U Naung Naung Han, general secretary of Union of Myanmar Travel Association <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">reportedly</a> said. Myanmar’s Hotel and Tourism ministry recorded about <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">41,197</a> Indian tourists last year, it noted. While the Indian Tourism Ministry noted that there was a <a href="https://www.mmtimes.com/news/government-relaxes-visa-rules-indian-travellers.html">10% increase</a> in Myanmar tourists after the new policies were rolled out. Myanmar introduces ‘visa-on-arrival’ for Indian travellers

The image also received a large number of likes and comments. 
 Recently, the <keyword id="99985" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Prime-Ministers-Office">Prime Minister's Office</keyword> (PMO) was embroiled in a controversy surrounding the use of a photograph on Narendra Modi's Facebook page. The PMO had suggested that a 'Dhanteras' photo used on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Facebook page was publicly available and there was no need to take permission of the photographer. 
 PMO sources said this in the wake of claims that the photograph was protected by US Copyright law. According to the sources, the photograph has been used on several websites, which even includes that of the <keyword id="97514" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="Australian-government">Australian government</keyword>.

After Facebook And Twitter, Instagram Is Narendra Modi’s New Love For Social Media

<keyword id="71" type="POSITION" weightage="100" keywordseo="Prime-Minister">Prime Minister</keyword> <keyword id="6354477" type="PERSON" weightage="100" keywordseo="Narendra-Modi">Narendra Modi</keyword> today landed in <keyword id="6356970" type="COUNTRY" weightage="60" keywordseo="Myanmar">Myanmar</keyword> on the first day of his three-nation tour spanning over 10 days. He will also visit Australia and Fiji after Myanmar. 
 The Prime Minister is in Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar) to attend the <keyword id="5891" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="ASEAN">ASEAN</keyword> and East Asia Summits. Before leaving New Delhi earlier today, Modi said, "ASEAN is at the core of our Act East Policy and at the centre of our dream of an Asian century, characterised by cooperation and integration." 
 He also said that the <keyword id="455958" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="East-Asia-Summit">East Asia Summit</keyword> can shape the future on not only this region, but also of the world. "At the East Asia Summit, I look forward to discussing with ASEAN and seven global leaders how we can strengthen regional institutions, international norms and regional cooperation in pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity," the PM said in a statement. 
 
Modi will attend the 12th ASEAN-India Summit and the 9th East Asian Summit on November 12 and 13, respectively. In Australia, he will attend the G-20 Summit on November 15-16. 
 
On the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, the Prime Minister will also meet a number of world leaders, including Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy Brey.
