Central Reserve Police Force (<a href="http://www.businessinsider.in/CRPF-deploys-4-5-tonne-camouflage-vehicle-for-parliament-security/articleshow/51104850.cms">CRPF</a>) has lost at least ten of its commandos from its elite COBRA battalion in a Naxal Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in the jungles of Bihar's Aurangabad district, while five others were critically injured. 
 
The encounter in which these commandos were killed also resulted in the killing of three naxals, said officials. 
 The incident happened in the <keyword id="3501849" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chakarbanda-Dumarinala-forests">Chakarbanda-Dumarinala forests</keyword> of the Aurangabad district, nearby Gaya.

Officials later recovered some arms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, INSAS rifle and under barrel grenade launcher from the site. 
 A search operation was launched after addition reinforcements of Bihar police and <keyword id="6354354" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="CRPF">CRPF</keyword> reached the spot.

They want to bring these remote areas into the digital era and have already initiated such activities in Chhattisgarh, Injiram and Sukma. In July, it had also launched the first mobile phone tower in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. It also enabled internet facilities, and provided computers to students--a move which was well appreciated by its residents. “Padhega Bastar, tabhi toh badhega Bastar (Education in Bastar will lead to development),” Moses Dhinakaran, Directorate General of CRPF tweeted. The Bastar district in Chhattisgarh is prone to Maoist activities.

It recently provided smart TVs and DTH connections to a girls hostel in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. India’s paramilitary forces organise digital classes in naxal affected areas

Bodies of 17 of the 18 jawans missing after an encounter with <keyword id="6361310" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="naxals">Naxals</keyword> in <keyword id="43945" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> were recovered from the site of the skirmish on Sunday, police said. The number of <keyword id="388021" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="security-personnel">security personnel</keyword> killed in the encounter has gone up to 22, police said. Eighteen jawans were missing after five security personnel were killed and 30 others injured on Saturday in the fierce gun-battle with Naxals in a forest along the border between Bijapur and <keyword id="11042358" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sukma-districts">Sukma districts</keyword> in Chhattisgarh, police earlier said. "On Sunday, bodies of 17 missing personnel were recovered during a <keyword id="47581" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="search-operation">search operation</keyword>. With this, total 22 personnel have been killed in the gunfight," a senior police official said. The bodies of three jawans who were reported killed on Saturday were also recovered, he said, adding that the search operation was still on in the forest. Some weapons of the security forces were also missing, the official said. In a major joint offensive, separate joint teams of security forces, comprising over 2,000 personnel, had launched an anti-Naxal operation from Bijapur and Sukma districts in the South Bastar forests, considered as the Maoist stronghold, on Friday night. The personnel belonging to the <keyword id="76600" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Reserve-Police-Force">Central Reserve Police Force</keyword> (<keyword id="6354354" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="crpf">CRPF</keyword>), its elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF) were involved in the operation launched from five places - Tarrem, Usoor and Pamed (in Bijapur), and Minpa and Narsapuram (in Sukma). When the patrolling team that was dispatched from Tarrem was advancing through forest near Jonaguda, located around 500 km away from the state capital Raipur, it was ambushed by cadres of PLGA (Peoples' Liberation Guerilla Army) battalion of <keyword id="6362994" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="maoists">Maoists</keyword> that led to gun-battle. Chhattisgarh's Deputy Inspector General (anti-Naxal operation) O P Pal on Saturday said five security personnel were killed and 30 others injured in the gunfight. "Some jawans, both from the police and paramilitary, were reported to be missing following the encounter and efforts are on to trace them," he had said. Out of the injured personnel, seven were admitted to a hospital in Raipur, while 23 others were undergoing treatment in the Bijapur district hospital. Citing the "ground report", Pal had claimed that Maoists suffered a huge loss in the gunfight, but the body of only one woman Naxal could be recovered from the spot amid the heavy exchange of fire. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday condoled the death of security personnel in the encounter, and said their valour will never be forgotten. Shah also said the government will continue its fight against such enemies of peace and progress. "I bow to the sacrifices of our brave security personnel martyred while fighting Maoists in Chhattisgarh. Nation will never forget their valour. My condolences are with their families. We will continue our fight against these enemies of peace &amp; progress. May injured recover soon," he said in a tweet. Education is the "strongest software" to combat the problem of naxalism in the country says IITian <keyword id="3266324" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Vatsalya-Chauhan">Vatsalya Chauhan</keyword>, a computer professional and son of a welder from Bihar, who will soon be joining IT giant <keyword id="10387" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Microsoft">Microsoft</keyword>. In Kota to attend an event organized by a coaching institute here yesterday, Vatsalya Chauhan who has bagged a job with Microsoft in <keyword id="6355055" type="COUNTRY" weightage="20" keywordseo="USA">USA</keyword> at a package of Rs 1.02 Crore said that the part of Bihar where he hails from faces the problem of naxalism and advocated education to curb the same. 

	"We are greatly affected by Naxalism in our area in Bihar. I am passionate about teaching and believe that education is the strongest software to fight against Naxalism in the country," he said. 
 

	In order to fight the problem, Vatsalya along with a few of his IIT colleagues, is set to start a school where IITians would tutor children online from an early age. One person has even donated land for a school in Khagadiya, Bihar. 
 

	Praising the PM's StartUp initiative, Chauhan said that even though he would be living abroad for a few years, he will return to serve his country with better technology. 
 

	"StartUp initiative by the government is a welcome step for beginners outside IITs," he said, while also adding that the initiative is more repackaging old ideas as IITs have had a long culture of StartUps. 
 Another IITian Ramchandra Sankhla, son of a labourer and working with <keyword id="6355629" type="CITY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Google">Google</keyword>, also praised the <keyword id="3003094" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Startup-India">StartUp India</keyword> campaign saying it would encourage young entrepreneurs to come up with innovative ideas as well as check the outflow of native talent abroad. 

	Apart from the IITians, there were two medical students at the event who also hail from unprivileged backgrounds but have managed to get a good education. 
 

	Medicine student Kheraj Ram Choudhary, a railway porter's son, at S.N Medical College in Jodhpur said that he would prepare for UPSC so that he can serve the nation. 
 

	Kapil Gautam, a first year student at SMS medical college, Jaipur and son of a truck driver also welcomed the StartUp India campaign and said he wanted to be a neurosurgeon to offer medical aid to the large number of road accident victims in India, after losing his father to one. 
 

	All the four meritorious students motivated the thousands others taking coaching for entrance exams like IIT-JEE and AIPMT.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe into the 2018 Koregaon-Bhima violence on Friday, a day after the Maharashtra government held a review meeting with senior Pune police officers to take a call on pursuing the matter. The Centre's decision has angered the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra, which was seen to be preparing to withdraw all cases against intellectuals and social activists accused of inciting the clashes. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said handing over the Koregaon-Bhima probe to the NIA is against the Constitution and condemned it.

Eleven personnel of the <keyword id="76600" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Central-Reserve-Police-Force">Central Reserve Police Force</keyword> (<keyword id="6354354" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="CRPF">CRPF</keyword>) were killed during an encounter with Maoists in <keyword id="43945" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword>'s Sukma district. The encounter, which took place at around 12.25 pm, happened in the Burkapal-Chintagufa area, worst Maoist violence-affected district in south Bastar. As per initial reports, six jawans were injured in the attack. "The Naxals fired at a patrolling party of the CRPF near Burkapal village leaving six personnel injured," special director general (anti-Naxal operations) of Chhattisgarh Police, D M Awasthi told PTI. he jawans are from the 74th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). "A helicopter has already left for the spot to evacuate the injured. The encounter is still on," a senior officer said.

Last week, Singh said that the movement had been further reduced to <a href="https://www.livemint.com/Politics/aW1zo9iwHOKwxEuLg6qE0J/Urban-naxals-wont-be-tolerated-says-Rajnath-Singh.html">around 50</a> districts as the government’s two-pronged strategy - emphasising military action and development- was bearing fruit. . The worst-affected districts are in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, <keyword id="43945" type="LOCATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="Chhattisgarh">Chhattisgarh</keyword> and Odisha. The government in Chhattisgarh, in particular, will be on high-alert ahead of elections to the state legislature in November. Election rallies are found to be a popular target for left-wing extremists.The Union home ministry will likely provide greater CRPF personnel to the state in the buildup to the elections.

In its latest push to create education and employment in the naxal affected areas, the Modi government expanded the scholarship programme. The scholarship amount was revised by from ₹2,250 to ₹3,000 per month for girls; and ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 for boys. The government is also planning to set up elite institutes including Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMs) in the newly formed union territory. The government had already launched IIM Jammu campus in 2016.
