New Delhi, Aug 26 () Over four lakh admit cards for medical entrance exam NEET were downloaded within three hours on Wednesday, sources said. <keyword id="7726423" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="The-National-Testing-Agency">The National Testing Agency</keyword> (NTA) released the admit cards for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) at 12 pm on Wednesday. "Admit cards of NEET were available for download at 12 today. Over 4 lakh candidates have downloaded in first 3 hours," sources said. While the NEET is planned on September 13, engineering entrance exam <keyword id="1373000" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-main">JEE Main</keyword> is scheduled from September 1-6. Around 9.53 lakh candidates have registered for <keyword id="1115324" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Mains">JEE-Mains</keyword> and 15.97 lakh students have registered for NEET. Amid rising clamour for postponement of the crucial exams in view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Education (<keyword id="343481" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Moe">MoE</keyword>) officials had reiterated on Tuesday that the exams will be conducted as per schedule in September. Increasing the number of examination centres, alternate seating plan, fewer candidates per room and staggered entry and exit are among the steps the NTA will take for safely conducting NEET and JEE next month. "The number of examination centres have also been increased from 570 to 660 (for JEE Main) and 2,546 to 3,843 (for NEET). While JEE-Mains is a computer-based test, NEET is a pen-paper test," the NTA said in a statement on Tuesday. "Additionally, in case of JEE-Mains, the number of shifts have been increased from the earlier 8 to 12, and the number of candidates per shift has been reduced from earlier 1.32 lakh to 85,000 now," it said. "In order to ensure proper social distancing inside the examination halls, the candidates will be seated in alternate seats in case of JEE-Mains. In case of NEET, the number of candidates per room has been reduced from 24 to 12," it added. For ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit of candidates has been staggered. "Adequate arrangements have also been made outside the examination centers to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing, while waiting. Candidates have also been issued an advisory guiding them about the 'Dos and Don'ts' for proper social distancing," the NTA said. There have been demands from several quarters to further postpone the entrance exams in view of increasing coronavirus cases. On Tuesday, Swedish teen climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg also threw her weight behind postponing the exams in view of the pandemic. "It's deeply unfair that students of India are asked to sit national exams during the COVID-19 pandemic and while millions have also been impacted by the extreme floods. I stand with their call to #PostponeJEE_NEETinCOVID," she said in a tweet. Several opposition leaders in India including Congress' Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, <keyword id="6357766" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="dmk">DMK</keyword> president MK Stalin and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have demanded the exams be postponed. The Supreme Court had last week dismissed a plea seeking postponement of the two exams amid spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases, saying precious year of students "cannot be wasted" and life has to go on. "We find that there is absolutely no justification in the prayer made for postponement of the examination in question relating to NEET as well as JEE-Mains," the Supreme Court had said. The NTA has also written to state governments to extend support in local movement of the candidates so that they are able to reach their examination centres on time.

Over 4 lakh NEET 2020 admit cards downloaded within 3 hours

In the several education reforms announced by Finance minister <keyword id="42575" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Arun-Jaitley">Arun Jaitley</keyword>, he has proposed to establish a <keyword id="581232" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword> which will conduct all the academic entrance examinations in India. 
 
This will take away the burden from Central Board of Secondary Education and All India Council for Technical Education in terms of the administration work related to examinations.

Apart from school exams at Class 10 and Class 12 level for CBSE affiliated schools, CBSE conducts major higher education related entrances in the absence of any national testing body. 
 
It conducts the Joint Entrance Exam-main (JEE Main) for engineering schools including IITs, and the National Eligibility Test for UGC for selecting professors in college and university system.

Thanks to NTA, this central body will now conduct all entrance examinations including the two-tier JEE, CAT, CTET, UGC -NET and NEET, among others.

Jaitley just announced a National Testing Agency, so CBSE doesn't have to bother about academic entrance exams

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra on Thursday took note of the submissions of lawyer Anas Tanwir on the issue. The bench said the matter will be listed on Friday. The plea said many candidates have been allocated cities which are highly inconvenient for them to reach. It said the test cities were allotted on July 31 and the specific centres will be declared on August 8. While the allocation of the centres was done to curb malpractices, the plea said due to the paucity of time, it is difficult for the candidates to make arrangements for travel to specific cities. "Issue a writ in the nature of Mandamus ...the Respondents (<keyword id="19904021" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="National Testing Agency" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="National Testing Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword>) to reschedule the NEET-PG 2024 examination," stated the plea filed by Vishal Soren. Supreme Court to hear plea seeking postponement of NEET-PG on Friday

JEE Mains entrance exam postponed amid surge in COVID-19 cases

The court said it will not stay the counselling process for admissions. If the candidates, out of the 1,563, do not wish to take up the retest then their earlier marks, sans the grace marks, will be given for the purposes of the results. The results of the re-test will be declared on June 30 and the counselling for admission in the MBBS, BDS, other courses will start on July 6, the Centre said. Taking note of the submissions, the bench said all the pleas, including the one filed by Alakh Pandey, the chief executive of EdTech firm Physics Wallah over the issue of award of grace marks, will be taken up for hearing on July 8. They also include the petitions seeking cancellation of NEET-UG, 2024 on account of allegation of question paper leaks and other malpractices. The examination was held by the NTA on May 5 across 4,750 centres and around 24 lakh candidates took it. The results were expected to be declared on June 14 but were announced on June 4, apparently because the evaluation of the answer sheets got completed earlier. The allegations such as question paper leak and the grant of grace marks to over 1,500 medical aspirants have led to protests and filing of cases in seven high courts as also the Supreme Court. As many as 67 students scored a perfect 720, unprecedented in the NTA's history, with six from a centre in Haryana's Faridabad figuring in the list, raising suspicions about irregularities. Scores of students protested in Delhi on June 10 seeking a probe into alleged irregularities. It has been alleged that grace marks contributed to 67 students sharing the top rank. The NEET-UG examination is conducted by the NTA for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. NTA ICAR AIEEA result 2019: Agency expected to release AIEEA results shortly, check score @ntaicar.nic.in

New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (<keyword id="6361994" type="General" weightage="100" keywordseo="NEET" source="Orion">NEET</keyword> PG) Examination on Saturday, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday, and said that a fresh date will be announced at the earliest. The NEET-PG exams were scheduled to be held on June 23. "Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, the Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of the processes of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students," the ministry statement read. "It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held on 23rd June, 2024. The fresh date of this examination will be notified at the earliest," the ministry added. "The Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process," the health ministry said. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) was fully prepared to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Post-Graduate (PG) 2024. Speaking exclusively to ANI, Dr Rakesh Sharma, OSD to President and Member, Governing Body, NBEMS said, "All eyes of the nation are on NBEMS for the conduct of NEET PG 2024 and we will not let down the hope of the nation. We will conduct the test through a computer-based test (CBT) mode throughout the country." On Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for successfully delivering and maintaining transparency, he said, "NBEMS has robust SOPs for conducting exams because of which NBEMS has been successfully delivering the exams year after year. These SOPs are stringently followed. NBEMS has worked very hard on maintaining the secrecy of the question paper and there is no chance that there will be any leakage of the question paper." He further said that NBEMS is supported by medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW, Flying Squads, Deans and Principals, Vice-chancellor and other agencies, "NBEMS has support from various medical colleges, faculty, MoHFW and other agencies. NBEMS has already briefed the chief secretaries and DGP of all states for safe and secure conduct of the exam." "In order to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts to make recommendations on Reform in mechanism of examination process improvement in data security protocols and the structure and functioning of National Testing Agency," the ministry said.

Centre postpones NEET-PG exam, fresh date to be announced soon

The <keyword id="581232" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="national-testing-agency" source="Orion">National Testing Agency</keyword> is conducting this test at various centres in 554 cities across <keyword id="3658" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="india" source="Orion">India</keyword> and 10 cities outside India. <keyword id="44171" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="ugc" source="Orion">UGC</keyword> President M Jagadesh Kumar said that 98 per cent candidates have been allotted CUET exam centres in their chosen cities. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), students have applied for 54,555 unique combinations of subjects under the new education policy. Significantly, under the new education policy, students have been given more freedom to choose the subjects of their choice. Due to this, unique combinations of different subjects have been created. The <keyword id="13437603" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="central-university-entrance-test" source="Orion">Central University Entrance Test</keyword> is being conducted for undergraduate courses in colleges on the basis of the class <keyword id="155806" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="xii" source="Orion">XII</keyword> syllabus only. There are no questions in the entrance test from the syllabus of any other class other than XII. The marks obtained in class XII will not be considered for admission in the colleges under CUET. 85 Indian universities will provide admission to students in undergraduate courses through this process. In the first slot, the exam will be held on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 while in the second slot it will be organised on August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Students who clear these exams will be considered eligible for admission in 90 universities. These include 43 central universities. According to the NTA, keeping in mind the large number of subjects, a specific date sheet has been prepared for each candidate. CUET-UG:  Over 8Lakh appearing in the first slot on Friday

New Delhi, The JEE mains examination have commenced from Tuesday. This is the first time that JEE examinations are being conducted under the country's <keyword id="2450716" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="new-education-policy">new education policy</keyword>. Under the new education policy, this time round, students are also appearing for the JEE mains examinations in Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Urdu, Odia, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages, besides English and Hindi. For the first time, students have got an opportunity to appear for exams in <keyword id="380963" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="13">13</keyword> <keyword id="475721" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-languages">Indian languages</keyword>. These examinations are being conducted only in computer-based test CBDT mode. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has set up 852 examination centres across the country. During the examination held in September, 660 examination centres had been set up. 6,61,761 lakh candidates are appearing for this coveted computer-based entrance exam. Online examination for BE and B.Tech will be conducted in two shifts from February 24th to 26th. According to the National Testing Agency, the examination centre is also being fully sanitised between the two shifts. In the examination centres, face masks and sanitiser have been provided for students. The body temperature of students will also be checked with thermal guns before going to the examination centre. According to Vineet Joshi, Director General, National Testing Agency, all state governments and the police have appealed for a safe transport facility for students keeping in view the examination. The guidelines of the Union Health Ministry to prevent Coronavirus infections are being strictly followed. Students have been called to the examination centres two hours before the exam. The distance between two computers and between students will be maintained during the examination. The NTA has also conducted mock drills at the examination centres on Monday before the examination. "In view of the Corona epidemic, the eligibility criteria for obtaining 75 percentage points in class XII for admission to IITs this year has been done away with," said <keyword id="19402" type="DOMAIN" weightage="20" keywordseo="Sadhana">Sadhana</keyword> Parashar, senior examination director of the National Examination Agency, which is conducting the JEE examinations. JEE Exam to be conducted in 13 Indian languages for the first time under the New Education Policy

The prestigious Joint Entrance <keyword id="49591" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="examination">Examination</keyword> (<keyword id="6392660" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE">JEE</keyword>) Advanced 2021 test has been postponed in view of the coronavirus situation in the country. Since the <keyword id="9859756" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Mains-Examination">JEE Mains examination</keyword> could not be held at the scheduled time (May 24-28), so the <keyword id="1126172" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="JEE-Advanced">JEE Advanced</keyword> examination, which was going to be held on July 3, has also been postponed, the <keyword id="55119" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-Institute-of-Technology">Indian Institute of Technology</keyword>, <keyword id="6357441" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="kharagpur">Kharagpur</keyword> announced. The Union <keyword id="181369" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Education-ministry">Education Ministry</keyword> had decided to conduct the JEE Mains examination four times in the current year. Candidates can appear in all four examinations of which their best test scores will be considered for appearing for the JEE Advanced exam. However, only two of the four sessions of JEE Mains examination have been conducted till now. <keyword id="581232" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="National-Testing-Agency">National Testing Agency</keyword>'s Senior Examination Director, Sadhana Parashar, said the first session of the JEE Mains examination was held in February this year and more than 6,20,000 students appeared. The second session was held in March with more than 5,56,000 students appearing. The third session of the JEE Mains examination was scheduled to be held from April 27 to 30, but had to be postponed in view of the second wave of pandemic. In the sane way, the fourth session to be held on May 24-28 was also postponed. According to the Education Ministry, students will be informed 15 days in advance before the test is conducted. The results of the JEE Main Exam Session 2 which were held in March have been already declared. These exams were conducted in 12 foreign cities and 334 Indian cities. Due to the second wave of Covid-19, the Union Education Ministry had decided to postpone all offline examinations scheduled in the month of May. This decision will be applicable to all central higher educational institutions across the country. Such higher educational institutions, which receive financial aid from the government, will also have to postpone these too.
