In 2019, the Union Budget was presented in a traditional 'bahi-khata' rather than a leather briefcase. It was the first time since independence that any Finance Minister had 'opted out' of a briefcase or a hardbound leather bag. The minister in 2019 not only garnered huge attention for carrying a 'bahi-khata', but also for implying the rich culture the country holds. A 'bahi-khata' holds prominence in Indian culture, tradition and history. For decades, the Indian way of managing accounts and keeping a record of bills was done in a 'bahi-khata'. Traders, merchants, sailors and even small shopkeepers have retained this way of preserving their data. However in 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government had to take necessary steps to maintain the security and safety of everyone. The Finance Minister moved ahead with the first paperless Budget holding a digital tablet wrapped in a red-coloured cover with the national emblem emblazoned on it. The same year, the minister also launched the '<keyword id="10642681" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="union-budget-mobile-app" source="Orion">Union Budget Mobile App</keyword>' for hassle-free access of Budget documents by the parliamentarians and the general public. Following the same trend the next year, the Union Budget 2022 was also a paperless budget. On Wednesday, the Budget documents will be available on the 'Union Budget Mobile App' on both the <keyword id="6355645" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="android" source="Orion">Android</keyword> and Apple OS platforms after the completion of the Budget Speech by the Finance Minister. Like every year, the Finance Minister will first visit the North Block situated at Raisina Hill ahead of the Budget presentation on Wednesday. Following this, she will meet President Droupadi Murmu and will present the Union Budget 2023 at 11 AM in Parliament. Earlier on Tuesday, Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey for the Financial Year 2022-23 in the <keyword id="6355187" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="lok-sabha" source="Orion">Lok Sabha</keyword>, stating that the economic recovery of India from the Covid-19 pandemic is complete and the economy is expected to grow in the range of 6 to 6.8 per cent in the coming financial year 2023-24. FM Sitharaman to present Budget on digital device instead of 'bahi-khata'

New Delhi [India], September 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday advised all the ministers to download the <keyword id="42981" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="G20" source="Orion">G20</keyword> India mobile app ahead of the <keyword id="42982" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="G20-Summit" source="Orion">G20 summit</keyword> to be held in New Delhi this week. The advice came during <keyword id="2238662" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="PM-Modi" source="Orion">PM Modi</keyword>'s interaction with the <keyword id="245371" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Council-of-Ministers" source="Orion">Council of Ministers</keyword> meeting ahead of the significant G20 summit in New Delhi. The Prime Minister said that the app would help the ministers to interact with foreign delegates seamlessly. The Ministry of External Affairs in India has launched the mobile application titled 'G20 India', marking a significant digital milestone ahead of the G20 Leaders' Summit to be held in New Delhi. The app offers users a comprehensive, interactive guide to event-related information. Features of the platform include a calendar for the G20 India 2023 event, resources, media, and insightful details about the G20. The unveiling of the 'G20 India' mobile app amplifies India's ongoing technological advancements and underscores the nation's commitment to leveraging digital tools to facilitate major international events. The government of India has launched a <keyword id="18675735" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="G20-India-App" source="Orion">G20 India app</keyword> ahead of the G20 summit being held under India's presidency on September 9-10 this year. The app will function till India's G20 presidency. According to officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, more than 15000 mobile apps were downloaded globally till Tuesday. The G20 India mobile app will help the delegates to interact with foreign delegates in all G20 countries languages. Government officials further emphasize that the mobile is also a navigation facility that helps the foreign delegates move from place to place in the country and to the Bharat Mandapam. With the G20 India app, the Indian ministers can overcome language as well as communication barriers with the foreign delegates. The G20 India mobile app has services built in which people can access in 24 languages. India is all set to host the G20 Summit in New Delhi from September 9-10. World leaders will arrive in New Delhi to attend the G20 Summit. The summit will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Notably, India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 last year and about 200 meetings related to G20 were organized in 60 cities across the country.

In a statement, <keyword id="6356834" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="indian-oil-corporation" source="Orion">Indian Oil Corporation</keyword> (IOC) said its board has given "Stage-1 approval for setting up <keyword id="49809" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="paradip" source="Orion">Paradip</keyword> petrochemical complex at Paradip, Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 61,077 crore." "This mega project will be the largest-ever investment of Indian Oil at a single location," it said but did not give timelines for completion of the project. This is a part of its transition plan including boosting petrochemical intensity to help protect against volatility. Petrochemical intensity refers to the percentage of crude oil that is converted directly into chemicals that are used to make plastic and other material. Crude oil, pumped out of the ground and from below the seabed, is processed in refineries to make petrol, diesel and other fuel. It can be processed to make petrochemicals, bypassing the fuels. IOC's petrochemical intensity - the percentage of crude oil converted into chemicals- is low at 5-6 per cent currently. The company intends to take it up to 10-12 per cent. The firm's newer refineries at <keyword id="6360136" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="panipat" source="Orion">Panipat</keyword> in Haryana and Paradip in Odisha have the petrochemical intensity of 15-20 per cent which would be raised to 25 per cent, its chairman <keyword id="5281441" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="shrikant-madhav-vaidya" source="Orion">Shrikant Madhav Vaidya</keyword> had told PTI in an interview last month. Energy transition refers to the shift from fossil-based systems of energy production and consumption - including oil, natural gas and coal - to renewable energy sources like wind and solar, as well as lithium-ion batteries. This shift is likely to gradually cut demand for petrol and diesel and so in preparation of that IOC is doing petrochemical projects. The company said the petrochemical complex at Paradip would include a world-scale cracker unit along with downstream process units for producing several petrochemical products including polypropylene (PP), high density polyethylene (<keyword id="178943" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="hdpe" source="Orion">HDPE</keyword>), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and poly vinyl chloride (PVC) - these being building blocks of different grades of plastics. It shall also facilitate production of niche chemicals and petrochemicals like phenol and isopropyl alcohol. Talking of the development, <keyword id="6360405" type="General" weightage="80" keywordseo="vaidya" source="Orion">Vaidya</keyword> said, "This mega project is aligned with Prime Minister <keyword id="6354477" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="narendra-modi" source="Orion">Narendra Modi</keyword>'s vision of Purvodaya that is sure to accelerate the development trajectory and fuel prosperity in Eastern India. This cutting-edge, state-of-the-art petrochemical complex will undoubtedly be transformative in its impact, significantly advancing the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative." "This mega project shall significantly improve the petrochemical intensity index of IndianOil. It shall be a growth driver in making the company a major player in the petrochemical industry, while strengthening India's self-reliance in the petrochemical sector," he said. The project, the statement said, will catalyze the growth of PCPIR and Plastic Park at Paradip. "On commissioning of this project, domestically available Petrochemicals are expected to provide feed and vitalise industrial growth in key downstream industries like plastic, pharma, agrochemical, personal care, paints etc. It is also expected to create employment opportunities in eastern India, especially Odisha," it added. Instead, when Koo discovers any post that can be deemed unlawful, it will hand it over to the government for action."We don't govern. Why should we govern? There's an elected government. Irrespective of who runs the government in the future ... If it's going to lead to violence, we'll cooperate with the government."The Indian government meanwhile has pulled out all the stops to make Twitter fall in line, with Koo effectively becoming a weapon in the fight. Twitter has since agreed to comply partially with India's banning order, suspending more than 500 accounts. Challenging Twitter is no easy feat - it has 340 million users worldwide. In late November, another Twitter-esque app called Tooter got a lot of attention. Its brash "About" page likened Twitter's dominance in India to the British Empire in the days before independence.
