This will impact over a million students who were agonising over the postponement of exams. As per the current schedule, the exams will be held froom July 1, 2020. The apex court had asked the central board to come up with the final decision on the remaining exams by June 23 and also consider promoting students based on internal assessment and the marks obtained in the exams that have already been conducted. This was after several parents approached the apex court to consider scrapping the remaining exams. Those students will be awarded marks based on the practical examinations or internal assessment. It will also promote all the students — from class 1 to 11 — without examinations, except students of 10th grade. On the other hand, hundreds of aspiring engineers and medical students are appealing to the government to defer the entrance examinations including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Owing to multiple requests from students, teachers and parents, the government may postpone the two competitive exams further. As per the current schedule rolled out by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), the JEE Mains exam is scheduled between July 19 and July 23, while NEET entrance will be held on July 26, 2020. "For NEET-UG schools and colleges serve as centres and therefore the invigilators will have to be there.
