Student organisations of INDIA bloc parties, including <keyword id="21322962" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="NSUI" source="keywords" meta.keywordsubtype="org" meta.entityname="NSUI" meta.hostid="261" meta.entityid="NSUI">NSUI</keyword>, AISF, and AISA, will hold <keyword id="20024974" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="demonstrations" source="keywords">demonstrations</keyword> across the country on July 3 against the alleged "<keyword id="20039944" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="scam" source="keywords">scam</keyword> and <keyword id="20500825" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="corrupt-practices" source="keywords">corrupt practices</keyword>" of the National Testing Agency (<keyword id="19985628" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="nta" source="keywords">NTA</keyword>), announced NSUI President Varun Chaudhary on Tuesday. The student organisations of INDIA alliance partners held a joint press conference demanding a "ban of NTA," the resignation of Union Education Minister <keyword id="19897147" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="Dharmendra-Pradhan" source="keywords">Dharmendra Pradhan</keyword> and holding the NEET exam again. The press conference was attended by representatives of AISF, AISA, NSUI, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, SFI and CRJD. 'We are United here to address the issue of scams and corrupt practices carried out by NTA and the issue of NEET students," said NSUI president Varum Chaudhary. Putting forth their three demands, Chaudhary said, " We want the government to disband the NTA. We want Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to take responsibility and step down. The third thing we want is that NEET to be held again." NTA is grappling with controversy over alleged irregularities in the entrance exams, including the NEET and UGC NET. After irregularities resurfaced in the NEET and UGC NET exams, the central government postponed several exams, including the NEET PG. The opposition parties and several student organisations have been holding protests regularly, demanding action. Addressing the joint press conference, the national president of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, Imran Idris, demanded that government be held accountable. " Government should answer. Union Minister Dharmerndra Pradhan should answer. We want NTA be banned and Pradhan should resign." Viraaj Devang. The General Secretary of AISF reiterated the three demands and targeted the government for creating the education system. "NEET-like entrance exam should be removed.NTA scams and problems should not be seen in isolation. And the agenda is to how to throw backward people out of education system," Devang said "I urge the government to not play with the future of students of the country," he added.

 Student unions of various parties have said that all sections of society should wait for completion of the <keyword id="6356383" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="JNU">JNU</keyword> inquiry before doing the "character assassination" of the university. This, however, doesn’t mean that they support the anti-national slogans that were raised in the university campus. 
 These unions have asked for the release of JNUSU President <keyword id="3048656" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="100" keywordseo="Kanhaiya-Kumar">Kanhaiya Kumar</keyword> and withdrawal of "false charges" against all the university students. 
 These demands have come in a joint press conference released by leaders from All India Students' Association (<keyword id="202881" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="Aisa">AISA</keyword>) of CPI(ML), All India Students Federation (<keyword id="340585" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="AISF">AISF</keyword>) of CPI, National Students' Union of India (<keyword id="6372948" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="NSUI">NSUI</keyword>) of Congress, Students Federation of India (<keyword id="6373398" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFI">SFI</keyword>) of CPI(M) and Student Forum For Swaraj (<keyword id="951603" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="100" keywordseo="SFS">SFS</keyword>). 
 They also denounced the assault on Left activists, JNU teachers, students and media that was done on February 15 in Patiala court. These attacks were cited as <keyword id="42498" type="COMPANY" weightage="100" keywordseo="RSS">RSS</keyword> and BJP’s attempts to "spread a reign of terror against differing voices". 
 
"We condemn the anti-national slogans that were raised during the event but who did that is a matter of investigation. Let the inquiry takes it course. Do not character assassinate the entire university by branding it as anti-national," SFI general secretary Vikram Singh said. 
 
"If the entire University is anti-national, then its alumini including Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, CBI Director Anil Sinha and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman are also anti-national," NSUI leader Kumar Raja said. 
 
"Slogans cannot be used as an excuse to crackdown on JNU. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of JNUSU President Kanhaiya and the immediate withdrawal of false charges on all JNU students," they said in a joint statement. 
 
The "ongoing assault on JNU is part of a long process by the Modi government to destroy our best educational institutions," the released added. "We are seeing a pattern wherein the Modi government actively intervenes to shove the RSS-BJP agenda down the throats" of the insitutions," they claimed.

Student unions asks people to wait for the inquiry results before assassinating JNU’s character

Jaipur, "I sometimes think of leaving it, but the chief minister's post doesn't leave me," <keyword id="49103" type="General" weightage="20" keywordseo="ashok-gehlot" source="Orion">Ashok Gehlot</keyword> famously said earlier this year, in part as a signal to the Congress top brass not to pick someone else for the job if the party wins the assembly polls. Over the past several months Gehlot, 72, tried every trick up his sleeve -- he has his magician father's blood running through his veins, after all -- to retain the post. Last year, MLAs loyal to him even defied the party high command by boycotting the Congress Legislature Party meeting summoned in Jaipur to possibly pave the way to the CM's post for Sachin Pilot, who in 2020 led a rebellion against the older colleague. The Gandhis wanted Gehlot to quit state politics and become the next national president of the Congress. But Gehlot succeeded in staying put. He then set himself on the task of trying to get the Congress back in a state that for the last three decades has never returned the same party to office twice in a row. Gehlot introduced a slew of welfare measures, including cheaper cooking gas for the poor and a Rs 25-lakh medical insurance scheme. The old pension scheme was back for government employees. And the Congress stalwart ensured that he was identified with each scheme. Had the Congress won, most observers feel, it would have been forced to pick Gehlot over Pilot again as CM. But the 'kursi' did leave him this time. On Sunday evening, Gehlot conceded defeat even as the final results of the counting in Rajasthan were yet to come in but it was clear that the BJP was set to cross the majority-mark. Polling was held in 199 of the 200 seats in the assembly. Gehlot's "failure", however, cannot erase his past successes, attributed mainly to his mass connect. He has been the state's chief minister thrice, in 1998-2003, 2008-13 and 2018-23. Only three other leaders have done this -- Mohan Lal Sukhadia of the Congress was the CM four times, while Haridev Joshi (Congress) and Bhairon <keyword id="3468188" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="singh-shekhawat" source="Orion">Singh Shekhawat</keyword> (BJP) were chief ministers thrice. Gehlot began with student politics. He became the president of the Rajasthan unit of the National Student Union of India (NSUI) in 1974, a post he held up to 1979. He has represented Jodhpur in the Lok Sabha five times. In Jodhpur's Sardarpura assembly segment, he had won five times in a row since 1999 before these elections -- and was on course for the sixth success. Gehlot, the story goes, came to then prime minister Indira Gandhi's notice for his work with refugees from East Bengal. He remained in the good books of Rajiv Gandhi as well. The party acknowledged his leadership as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Gujarat, when he led a tough fight on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home turf in 2017. Next year, he was appointed AICC general secretary (organisation). Earlier at the AICC, he has been in charge of the Seva Dal and the party's Uttar Pradesh and Delhi units. Gehlot has been the <keyword id="5569832" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajasthan-congress-committee" source="Orion">Rajasthan Congress Committee</keyword> president thrice, the first time when he was just 34. In 1980, Gehlot became a Member of Parliament for the first of his five times. At the Centre, he has been the junior minister for <keyword id="9363621" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="tourism-and-civil-aviation" source="Orion">Tourism and Civil Aviation</keyword>. He has also led the Sports and Textiles ministries. He is married to Sunita Gehlot and the couple has a daughter and a son. His son <keyword id="578912" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="vaibhav-gehlot" source="Orion">Vaibhav Gehlot</keyword>, who is the president of the <keyword id="73403" type="General" weightage="50" keywordseo="rajasthan-cricket-association" source="Orion">Rajasthan Cricket Association</keyword>, contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Jodhpur but lost to BJP's Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who later became Jal Shakti minister in the Modi government. Gehlot and Shekhawat don't tire of running each other down. The outgoing CM has accused the Union minister of trying to topple his government, and of being involved in the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society 'scam', an allegation over which Shekhawat has taken him to court. As the counting trends came in, Shekhawat alluded to Gehlot's early days as his magician father's assistant, and also to the politician's reputation for out maneuvering his rivals. "The magic has ended and Rajasthan has come out of the spell of the magician," he said.

The <keyword id="414761" type="PERSON" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-Polices-special-cell">Delhi Police's Special Cell</keyword> on Monday served a notice to <keyword id="749437" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Twitter-India">Twitter India</keyword> in connection with the probe into a complaint about the alleged '<keyword id="11315501" type="UNKNOWN" weightage="20" keywordseo="covid-toolkit">COVID toolkit</keyword>', asking it to share information based on which it had classified a related tweet by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra as "manipulated media", officials said. Two police teams also descended on the microblogging site's offices in Lado Sarai in Delhi and in Gurgaon this evening. "The <keyword id="6358992" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Delhi-Police">Delhi police</keyword> team went to the Twitter office to serve a notice to Twitter as a part of routine process. This was necessitated as we wanted to ascertain who is the right person to serve a notice, as replies by Twitter India MD have been very ambiguous," Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said The BJP has accused the Congress of creating a 'toolkit' that seeks to tarnish the image of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the handling of the COVID pandemic. However, the Congress has denied the allegation and claimed that the BJP is propagating a fake 'toolkit' to defame it. Last week, Twitter labelled as "manipulated media" a tweet by Patra on the alleged 'toolkit'. Twitter says it "may label Tweets that include media (videos, audio, and images) that have been deceptively altered or fabricated". Biswal said the Delhi Police is inquiring into a complaint in the alleged toolkit matter. "It appears that Twitter has some information which is not known to us and on the basis of which they have classified it (Patra's tweet) as such. This information is relevant to the inquiry. The Special Cell, which is conducting the inquiry, wants to find out the truth. Twitter, which has claimed to know the underlying truth, should clarify," he said. The police, however, refused to divulge the contents of the complaint or the identity of the complainant. The notice sent earlier to Twitter India MD stated that "whereas a preliminary enquiry is being conducted pertaining to the 'Toolkit' which is allegedly released by the <keyword id="190679" type="COMPANY" weightage="20" keywordseo="Indian-National-Congress">Indian National Congress</keyword> and whereas during the course of the investigation, it has come to our knowledge that you are acquainted with the facts of the matter and are in possession of information with regard to the same." The police in the notice requested Twitter India MD to be present in the DCP office for the purpose of investigation with all the relevant documents on May 22 at 1 PM. Twitter, however, did not wish to offer any comment. BJP leaders, including Patra, have posted numerous tweets to attack the Congress over the purported 'toolkit'. On May 19, the Congress lodged a police complaint seeking registration of cases against BJP chief J P Nadda, Union minister Smriti Irani, BJP general secretary B L Santosh and Patra over the alleged forgery of documents. The Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress' students wing NSUI also lodged a complaint against Patra and former chief minister Raman Singh for allegedly "forging" the letterhead of the AICC Research Department and printing "false and fabricated" content on it. On the basis of the complaint, a case has been filed against Patra and Singh at the Civil Lines police station in Raipur. However, that relationship soon turned sour. Only two days ago, Lamba <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/elections/assembly-elections/delhi/enraged-lamba-tries-to-slap-aap-member/articleshow/74035873.cms">allegedly</a> tried to slap an AAP member before being pulled back by the police at Majnu ka Tila. Lamba joined Congress in 1994 under the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). A year later, she won the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). Her relationship with Congress ended up being a 20-year affair. However, when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was formed, Lamba quit Congress to join them on 26 December 2014. During the 2015 Delhi election, Lamba won in Chandi Chowk. However, after AAP lost in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, she sought accountability from chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Subsequently, she was removed from AAP’s official WhatsApp group of lawmakers. During the campaigning for the Lok Sabha election, Lamba refused to participate and refrained from playing a part in Kejriwal’s roadshow after she was asked to walk behind his car. Later in April, she was involved in a Twitter spat with AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj after he’d goaded her with a taunt to resign from the party. Another rough patch hit when Lamba raised objections against AAP’s decision to pass a resolution to revoke Rajiv Gandhi’s Bharat Ratna. Citing repeated disrespect, she quit the AAP in September 2019 — and went back to Congress.

 3) He also claimed that most of the ‘achievements’ that the BJP government was laying claim to was in fact, revamped versions of schemes that were launched by the UPA regime, a claim that many an expert has in the past reiterated. He said, “Be it the <keyword id="6383794" type="ORGANIZATION" weightage="80" keywordseo="national-Rural-Health-Mission">National Rural Health Mission</keyword> or the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission. These were schemes that were launched during the UPA regimen and that have been subsequently revamped and relaunched by the BJP government.” 
 
4) Singh went on to say, “All the talk about improvement in the economy that the BJP is talking about. Just go around and see for yourself and look at the data. Investment is not increasing. Farming sector has seen no increase. 65% of our country is represented by the rural population and they are in distress. When over 65% of a country’s population is in distress, how can you claim that the country is progressing?” 
 5) Singh also took a dig at Modi’s pet project, The Make in India. He said, “What is this Make in India? This is nothing but a revamped version of the UPA’s new National Manufacturing Policy, under which we had promised to increase the share of manufacturing to <keyword id="35050" type="CITY" weightage="80" keywordseo="gdp">GDP</keyword> to 25% by 2025. The BJP’s claims are no different.”
